Arley Baker
Arley J. Baker, 56, 520 Columbia St., St. Marys, died at 6 a.m. Oct. 18, 2002, at his residence. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born June 10, 1946, in Jellico, Tenn., to James H. and Margie (Smith) Baker. On Sept. 3, 1966, he married Sarah L. Haynes and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, William and Dawn McAnally, St. Marys, and three sons, Arley E., Michael and Preston Baker, also of St. Marys; two daughters, Lisa Baker and Tina McAnally, both of St. Marys; a brother and his wife, James Earl and Rita of St. Marys; two sisters and their husbands, Stella and Dave Napier, Trenton, and Elizabeth and Albert Coffey, St. Marys; and eight grandchildren.
A brother, Charles, is deceased.
He had been a construction worker prior to becoming disabled. He was a member of Living Faith Ministry, St. Marys.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Steve Coburn officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery near Mendon.

Ernest Wehrkamp
Ernest "Slim" Wehrkamp, 84, 14194 Friend Road, North Star, died at 5:10 p.m. Oct. 18, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Cranberry Prairie, to John and Elizabeth (Staugler) Wehrkamp. On Sept. 5, 1942, he married Mary Jean Stammen and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons and their wives, Michael and Dixie of Versailles, Edward and Marlene of Fort Recovery, Mark and Diane and Leo and Linda, all of North Star; two daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Ron Hiestand and Melanie and Barry Parin, also of North Star; a son-in-law and his wife, Richard and Carol Francis, Versailles; 30 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Herbert of St. Henry; and two sisters-in-law, Alvera Wehrkamp, Fort Recovery, and Hulda Wehrkamp, Coldwater.
Deceased are a daughter, Jane Francis; seven brothers, five sisters and a grandchild.
He was the former owner and operator of North Star Blue Flame. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Men's Sodality, both of North Star.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry, and 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Dorothea Larie
Celina native Dorothea Rosabella Larie, 81, of Springfield, died Oct. 19, 2002, at St. John's Center, Springfield.
She was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Celina, to Henry and Ethel (Runkle) Deitsch. Her husband, Donald Larie, is deceased.
Surviving are six sons and their wives, Jack and Anna Springer, Rick and Jewell Springer, and Donald and Rosalee Larie, all of Springfield, Willis and Dee Springer, Chillicothe, Greg and Carol Springer, South Charleston, and Randy and Sharon Larie, South Vienna, and a son, Dale Springer, Springfield; two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Pearl Nichols, Chillicothe, and Jeannine and John Vanover, Springfield, and a daughter, Linda Von Hranburg, Holiday, Fla.
Other survivors include four brothers, Ralph, Carl, Gene and Jonny Deitsch; three sisters, Mabel, Ivy and Velvie; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Jerry Springer; a daughter, Joan Springer; three brothers, Dale, Lloyd and Gerald; and three sisters, Mary, Ruth and Mildred.
She worked as a licensed practical nurse at various nursing homes. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the AmVets.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home, Springfield, the Rev. Aaron Turner officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Reber Hill Cemetery, Circleville.

John Lynch
John Patrick Lynch, 23, 709 Gordon Grove, St. Marys, died at 12:36 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, of injuries sustained in a pickup truck-pedestrian accident near the intersection of Ohio 66 and U.S. 33.
He was born Dec. 29, 1978, in St. Marys, to Robert and Denise (Hartung) Lynch. His father and stepmother, Sue, and his mother survive in St. Marys.
Also surviving are a 3-year-old son, Hunter Patrick of Celina; a sister and her husband, Kelly and Mitch Burden, St. Marys; and the maternal grandmother, Dorothy Hartung, Celina.
Deceased are the paternal grandparents, John and Lyda Lynch, and the maternal grandfather, Darrell Hartung.
A 1997 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, he was employed by Lakeside Investment Corp., St. Marys. He had played on the Rams midget football team as a child and later played for the St. Marys Roughriders. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Ruth Monfort
Ruth C. Monfort, 88, of Spencerville, died at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 19, 2002, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
She was born April 19, 1914, in Auglaize County, to Clarence E. and Myrtle (Rempfer) Dingledine. On March 21, 1931, she married J. Harold Monfort and he died May 15, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Grace and Glen Place, Spencerville; a brother and his wife, Clyde H. and Carrie Dingledine, Wapakoneta; a brother-in-law, Homer Monfort, Columbus; three sisters-in-law, Delphene Monfort, Columbus, Madonna Monfort, Spencerville, and Doris Dingledine, Lima; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Merlin and Carl Dingledine, and a grandson.
A retired seamstress, she had worked at The Leader Store and later at Abram's Store in the Lima Mall. She was a member of the former Christie United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Spencerville Chapter 130, Order of Eastern Star, where she served as worthy matron in 1959 and 1986, and Spencerville Grange 2424. She also was past worthy high priestess of Lima Chapter 20, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, and a member of the Social Order of Beaucent, Lima; the Order of Amaranth, Wapakoneta; the Excelsior Club and The Hobby Club, both of Spencerville. She also served on the Allen County Childrens Home Board.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. John G. Medaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, east of Spencerville.
Calling is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Order of Eastern Star services will be conducted there at 9 p.m.

Eva Schritz
Former Celina resident Eva M. Schritz, 95, 3215 Wise Creek Lane, Aiken, S.C., died at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17, 2002, at her residence.
She was born April 19, 1907, in St. Henry, to Henry and Clara (Goettemoeller) Beckman. On Nov. 26, 1931, she married Alois J. Schritz and he died in July 1982.
Surviving are a son, Robert of Celina; two daughters, Ann James, Aiken, S.C., and Penelope of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
Burial will be in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Florida Chapter of the National Cremation Society has charge of arrangements.
Dallas Schroyer
Dallas P. Schroyer, 83, 222 N. Lake St., Celina, died at 10:41 p.m. Oct. 19, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Wabash, to Albert and Anna (Noble) Schroyer. On June 7, 1942, he married Dorothy Dock and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Richard and Nancy of Lima; a daughter and her husband, Margie and Dale Manbeck, Celina, and a daughter, Melba Milak, St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Dale of Wabash; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, George and Carl, and a son-in-law, John Milak.
He retired as a carpenter from Leffler Brothers in Celina and later retired from the former Gibbons Hospital in Celina. He also retired from Celina Medical Center. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Wabash United Church of Christ and the Celina American Legion Post.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Wilton Hull officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.

Lewis Speckman
Lewis W. Speckman, 92, formerly of New Bremen, died at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20, 2002, at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta.
He was born April 10, 1910, in New Bremen, to John and Elise (Waterman) Speckman. In 1936, he married Opal Binkley and she preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Ron and Mary Jo of Dayton; a daughter and her husband, Janice and Robert Benzing, Adrian, Mich.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Lloyd; three sisters, Leola Wissman, Roma Speckman and Selma Briggs; and a half sister, Ethel Freytag.
He formerly worked as a machinist at Minster Machine Co.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John Tostrick officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery, New Bremen.

David Wenning
David E. Wenning, 55, 616 N. Mill St., Celina, died at 7 a.m. Oct. 19, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born July 1, 1947, in Celina, to Lavern and Annabelle (Koeper) Wenning. They survive in New Bremen. On Dec. 2, 1972, he married Linda Gehle and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Steven and Jodi, and a son, Craig, all of Celina; and two grandchildren.
A former employee of New Idea, the YMCA and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Coldwater, he was employed in the maintenance department at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community. A 1966 graduate of New Bremen High School, he had served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, New Bremen; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion, 40 & 8 and the AmVets, all of Coldwater.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Tom Christen officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.

Mark Staugler
Mark "Shark" Staugler, 44, 515 N. Cherry St., Celina, died at 1 a.m. Oct. 20, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 3, 1957, in Celina, to Leo and Mildred (Brinegar) Staugler. His mother survives.
Also surviving are a brother and his wife, James and Kim of Celina; and two sisters, Mary Dirksen, Celina, and Pat Bruggeman, Carson, Calif.
He had worked at Huffy's in Celina and later was a commercial truck driver for E. Conrad Trucking, Van Wert. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.
Memorial Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating.
