Louis Tangeman
Louis B. Tangeman, 80, 2036 Jefferson St., Maria Stein, died at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 19, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Maria Stein, to Ben and Nora (Behrens) Tangeman. On March 14, 1970, he married Betty Mellon and she died Dec. 23, 1997.
Surviving are a brother and his wife, Robert and Virginia of Maria Stein; two stepdaughters, Karen Skillman, Sidney, and Diane Emrich, Piqua; four nephews, five nieces and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
Deceased are three sisters, infant Norma Annette, Dorothea Koons and Margaret Copeland.
He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, after 41 years of service. He was co-founder and owner of Tangeman Orchard in Maria Stein. A veteran of World War II, he served with the 517th Paratrool Battalion in Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5019, Chickasaw.
Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein, the Rev. Emil Labbe officiating.
There will be no viewing as he donated his body to medical science.
Mary Bowersock
Mary M. Bowersock, 77, 822 Columbia St., St. Marys, died at 12:31 a.m. Oct. 21, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Aug. 8, 1925, in St. Marys Township, to Carl and Marguerite (Slemmons) Hagaman. On Sept. 19, 1942, she married Edward E. Bowersock and he died May 9, 1986.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Edward E. and Cathy of Austin, Texas, and a son, Dale H. of St. Marys; two daughters and their husbands, Rhonda L. and Steve Drummond, Tampa, Fla., and two daughters, Tina M. Wycuff and Carol Batch, both of St. Marys; a brother and his wife, George and Ivadean Anderson, St. Marys; 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Carol Byerly, and two grandsons.
She was a homemaker and a 1942 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Private services and burial are planned.
Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, has charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
Jacqueline Gast
Jacqueline J. Gast, 45, Fort Myers, Fla., the wife of a former Coldwater resident, died Oct. 14, 2002.
She was born May 28, 1957, in Queens, N.Y., to Jack and Josephine Bartkovsky.
Surviving with her husband John are two daughters, Brooke and Amanda; two brothers, Albert and Jack of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oliver and Rosella Gast, Coldwater.
She graduated from Dixie Hollins High School and attended St. Petersburg College.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord, Fort Myers. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.

Monique Post
Monique Post, 47, 252 E. Columbus St., St. Henry, died at 11:10 p.m. Oct. 20, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, following an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 17, 1955, in Piqua, to Ferris and Gloria (Brunetto) Henson. They survive in Piqua. On March 14, 1981, she married Larry Post and he survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Kendra, Kristina and Shelly, all at home; five brothers and their wives, Dr. Ferris and Leatha Henson, Huntsville, Ala., Joseph and Linda Henson, Humboldt, Ariz., John and Alison Henson, Covington, Michael and Julie Henson, Sugar Grove, and Leo and Karin Henson, Las Vegas, Nev.; and a sister and her husband, Anita and William Henson-Prince, Dayton.
Other survivors are her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Roseann Post, St. Henry; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Dave and Nancy Post, Fairfax, Va., Mike and Jo Post and Don and Linda Post, all of St. Henry; seven sisters-in-law and their husbands, Deb and Ken Puthoff and Diana and Mike Ahlers, all of St. Henry, Carol and Roger Niekamp, Celina, Nancy and Ron Krugh, Mendon, Betty and Bill Tobe, Rossburg, Brenda and Kevin Nagel, Maria Stein, and Alice and Dave Mescher, Hilliard, and two sisters-in-law, Ann Post, St. Henry, and Kim Post, Sylvania.
Deceased are a brother-in-law and his wife, Ken and Connie Post.
A Piqua Central High School graduate, she graduated from Sinclair Community College in Dayton with an associate in applied science degree in 1975. She also graduated from Wright State University in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in education and in 1997 with a master's degree. She taught at Miami County Head Start in Piqua for 14 years. She had been associated with the St. Henry Schools since August 1989, first as an aide and then as a substitute teacher. She became a full time teacher in the district in August 1992. She also was a homemaker and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
James Bayman
James "Dago" Bayman, 65, 432 Clinton St., St. Marys, died at 12:32 p.m. Oct. 21, 2002, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Ind., following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 16, 1937, in St. Marys, to George and Lucille (Coehick) Bayman. On April 25, 1958, he married Sharon Zimmerman and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, James Jr. and Michelle of Delphos, and a son, Darrell of St. Marys; three daughters and their husbands, Tonya and John Meyer and Dawn and Chet Knous, all of St. Marys, and Penny and Doug Hicks, Wapakoneta, and a daughter, Pamela Schwartz, also of St. Marys; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include three brothers and their wives, Jack and Mamie of Lavern, Ala., Michael and Laura and Pat and Carla, all of St. Marys; two sisters and their husbands, Roberta and Louis Schoenher, Orem, Utah, and Diane and Cloyd Zimmerman, Bakersfield, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Bayman, Wapakoneta; and his mother-in-law, LaVere Zimmerman, St. Marys.
Deceased are a son, Mark, and two brothers, John and Gary.
He retired from Union Local 329, Lima, and previously worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys. He formerly served in the Ohio National Guard and was a member of Lima Christian Center and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Samuel Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
James Decker
James E. Decker, 64, 295 N. Holly Lane, Rockford, died at 12:10 p.m. Oct. 22, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 14, 1938, in Paulding County, to Ward L. and Fay Afford (Stockberger) Decker. He was raised by a grandmother, Mary Ellen (Decker) Baer. On June 5, 1997, he married Barbara (Straley) Barnett and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Randy and Pam of Mercer and Todd and Sherry of Celina; a daughter, Julie Jones, Celina; two stepsons and their wives, John and Julie Barnett, Wapakoneta, and Shawn and Emily Barnett, Willshire; and a stepdaughter, Jenny Barnett, Dayton.
Other survivors include a brother, Rex E. of Bandera, Texas; two sisters, Geneva A. Ellis, Van Wert, and Patricia J. Bryie, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and 14 grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant brother, Robert, and a sister, Almeda Simpson.
He operated the Motor Inn Truck Stop at Mercer for 25 years and retired from MacDonald's Industrial Products Inc., Spencerville. He currently owned B & J Vending.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he attended Blue Creek High School near Haviland. He was active at Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert, and was involved in Trinity Friends Disaster Services. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Van Wert, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Rockford.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, with military rites conducted by Harvey Lewis American Legion Post 346.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Van Wert Navy Club (Ship 726) will conduct memorial services at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sharon Gross
Sharon M. Gross, 26, 817 Linden Ave., Celina, died at 11:45 p.m. Oct. 19, 2002, in a traffic accident near Aynor, S.C.
She was born March 18, 1976, in Coldwater, to Dennis and Linda (Thobe) Gross. They survive in Celina.
Also surviving are a sister and her husband, Julie and Scott Bell, Celina, and a sister, Cynthia of Celina; and a maternal grandmother, Henrietta Thobe, New Bremen.
She had worked at Visions and Plaza Bowling Lanes, both of Celina, before moving to South Carolina in July. A 1996 graduate of Celina High School, she was a member of Abounding Grace Church, Celina.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Rick Brosher officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, and after 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Christine Houts
Christine Jane Houts, 24, 901 Kingswood Drive, Celina, died at 11:45 p.m. Oct. 19, 2002, in a traffic accident near Aynor, S.C.
She was born April 21, 1978, in Celina, to John M. and Roxanne (Hoselton) Houts. They survive in Celina.
Also surviving are a brother and his wife, Randy and Stephanie of Wapakoneta; a sister, Tressie Sigmond, Celina; the paternal grandmother, Rita Houts, Celina; and the maternal grandparents, Charles and Betty Hoselton, Celina.
A paternal grandfather, Alfred Houts, is deceased.
She was employed as a waitress at Carolina Road House in South Carolina. She was a member of the First Church of God, Loyal Order of Moose and the American Legion, all of Celina.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Bruce Strine officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Rodney Phillips
Former Celina resident Rodney L. Phillips, 29, of Waynesville, N.C., died at 3 a.m. Oct. 17, 2002, at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. Death was due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident near Waynesville.
He was born May 13, 1973, to Luther Phillips and Sharon Rogers. The father survives in Waynesville and the mother lives in Dayton.
Also surviving are a son, Jacob Rodney Allen, and a daughter, Elizabeth, both of Celina; a stepmother, Wanda Phillips, Canton, N.C.; a brother, Tim, also of Canton; and four sisters, Tracy Wright, Elizabethton, Tenn., Angie McKissack, Celina, Mandi Robinson, Waynesville, and Carrie Robinson, Dayton.
Other survivors include the paternal grandparents, Claude and Iva Lee Phillips, Waynesville; the maternal grandmother, Betty Jo Kilby, Waynesville; and a stepgrandmother, Kay Coffee, Marble, N.C.
He was employed as a climber at Davey Tree Service.
Services were held in North Carolina with burial at Long Community Cemetery, Canton.

James Sealscott
Celina native James M. Sealscott, 86, of Lima, died at 1:30 a.m. Oct. 22, 2002, at Plus Health Care, Lima.
He was born June 13, 1916, in Celina, to John H. and Oral (Shively) Sealscott. On Feb. 14, 1941, he married Mary M. Crouch and she died Oct. 27, 1992.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Russell L. and Joyce of Bluffton and Howard E. and Gloria of Lima; a brother, Leo of St. Marys; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Richard, Edgar, Harry and Paul, and two sisters, Bessie Trissel and Mary Long.
He retired in 1980 as a pipefitter with West Ohio Gas Co. and he previously worked at the Crane Co. for 20 years. He attended Union Chapel Missionary Church and was a life member of the Allen County Sportsmen & Farmers Association, a member and past president of the Allen County Conservation Club and a member of Pheasants Forever and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370.
Services were to be held at noon today at Chiles & Sons-Laman Lewis Chapel, Lima, the Rev. Mark Bayliff officiated. Burial is to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
