Nina Rohrbach
Nina E. Rohrbach, 86, 710 Cleveland Ave., St. Marys, died at 8 a.m. Oct. 24, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Elgin, to James and Zelma (Collins) Miller. On Jan. 19, 1939, she married Francis E. Rohrbach and he died May 25, 1992.
Surviving are a son, Gary of St. Marys; two daughters, Ruth Pendergraft and Marjorie Rohrbach, also of St. Marys; two sisters, Bernice Huffine, Van Wert, and Ruth Burget-Spicer, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Mae Beatty, St. Marys; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Victor, Orville and Carold Miller, are deceased.
She was a homemaker, a graduate of Spencerville High School and a member of Friends Church, Spencerville.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Revs. Rodney Abram and Kent Place officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Wavelene Smith
Wavelene Smith, 81, 222 Gwendolyn St., Fort Recovery, died at 10:20 p.m. Oct. 24, 2002, at the Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born April 18, 1921, in Darke County, to Walter and Bess (Oswalt) Reigel. On May 27, 1939, she married Donald Smith and he died Feb. 24, 1992.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Terry and Thama of Fort Recovery; a daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Tom Everhart, Greenville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A brother and a sister are deceased.
A graduate of the former Jackson High School in Darke County, she was a member of the United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 111 and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Fort Recovery.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, the Rev. Verl Ballmer officiating. Burial will follow at Teegarden Cemetery, Union City.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Goldie Black
Former Fort Loramie and Versailles resident Goldie M. Black, 99, died at 9 a.m. Oct. 25, 2002, at Versailles Health Care Center where she was a resident for more than two years.
She was born July 12, 1903, in Claysville, Pa., to Reese and Cora (Hewitt) Kerns. On May 27, 1922, she married Alva Black who died Sept. 18, 1973.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Mary and Ralph Johnston, Versailles, and three daughters, Lucille Meyer and Grace Linniman, both of Versailles, and Catherine Dross, Yorkshire; a brother, Herman Kerns, West Alexander, Pa.; 16 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 46 great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are four brothers, two sisters, a grandchild and an infant daughter.
She was a homemaker and member of Versailles United Methodist Church and a former member of Fort Loramie American Legion Auxiliary.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, the Rev. Kelly E. Moody officiating. Burial is at Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
Calling is 3-6 p.m. Sunday and noon Monday at the funeral home.

Eileen Dicke
Eileen Dicke, 84, 14040 Mercer-Auglaize County Line Road, St. Marys, died at 10:42 a.m. Oct. 25, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Auglaize County, to Roland and Margaret (Abe) Hollman. On Dec. 27, 1941, she married Lester Dicke who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Jonny and Wanda Dicke, Celina; and five grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Edwin Hollman.
She retired as an elementary school teacher from Celina City Schools, and was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a 1935 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and 1965 graduate of Bowling Green State University. She held memberships in the Hawthorne Chapter 119, and the Order of Eastern Star of which she was a Past Worthy Matron, and was Grand Representative of Indiana and Ohio.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. An Eastern Star Memorial service will be held at 8 p.m.

Esther Grodey
Coldwater native Esther M. Grodey, 81, 314 E. State St., Botkins, died at 11 a.m. Oct. 25, 2002, at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta.
She was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Coldwater, to Ernest and Ellen (Buck) Yaney. In 1940 she married Dillon Gallihugh who died Jan. 24, 1978. On July 6, 1979, she married Howard W. Grodey who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and James Harrass, Columbus, and Nancy and Sam Berning, Botkins; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, four brothers and three sisters.
She retired in 1980 as head cook at Botkins High School and was a member of Christ the King Church, Jackson Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney, the Rev. James Maxwell officiating. Burial is Tuesday at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Cordula Schmitz
Former Burkettsville resident Cordula "Lefty" Schmitz, 82, died at 1:04 p.m. Oct. 25, 2002, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Dec. 1, 1919, in St. Sebastian, to Edward and Eleanor (Kramer) Schwieterman. On May 11, 1946, she married Norbert Schmitz who died Feb. 5, 1997.
Survivors are three sons and their wives, Bob and Jane of St. Henry, Don and Maureen of Everett, Wash., and Larry and Becky of Vandalia; six daughters and their husbands, Doris and David Downs, and Carolyn and David Ballinger, all of Dallas, Texas, Dorothy and Frank Elsner, Kettering, Betty and Terry Moore, Centerville, Mary and Mike Humbert, Englewood, and Teresa and Chris Fryman, Bellbrook, and a daughter, Diana Schmitz, Dayton; a brother and his wife, Ivo and Mary Ann Schwieterman, Burkettsville; a sister and her husband, Helen and Cletus of Dayton, and a sister, Rita Wannemacher, Coldwater; 27 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are four brothers, Arnold, Matt, Louie and Cy; and a sister, Alvira Clericus.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic, Burkettsville, and its Ladies Guild, and served as a past CCD coordinator. She was a member of the Fort Recovery American Legion Auxiliary.
Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

Robert Shuffelton Sr.
Robert Gordon Shuffelton Sr., 98, formerly of 689 Coventry Green, St. Marys, died at 6:10 a.m. Oct. 25, 2002, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community where he was a resident.
He was born Aug. 20, 1904, in St. Marys, to Frank and Sarah (Gordon) Shuffelton. On June 29, 1935, he married Harriet Sullivan who died Oct. 9, 1981.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Robert Jr. and Marguerite of Ecscandido, Calif.; two daughters and their husbands, Ann and Dick Hudson, St. Marys, and Jean and Jim Sullivan, Bowling Green; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Shuffelton, St. Marys; and eight grandchildren.
He retired as the vice-president of sales at Fisher Cheese Company and worked for many years as secretary/treasurer of the St. Marys Chamber of Commerce. He was a 1922 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and had attended Ohio State University and Northwestern University. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Hamer Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons, Valley of Dayton Shrine Club and Auglaize-Mercer Shrine Club. He served on the Auglaize County Council of Aging board and was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. John Tostrick officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
Linus Uhlenhake
Former Mercer County Home resident Linus J. Uhlenhake, 90, died at 8:10 a.m. Oct. 25, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born June 18, 1912, in St. Henry, to John I. and Mary M. (Borger) Uhlenhake.
Survivors are two sisters, Mary Ellen Homan, Avon Park, Fla., and Adele M. Gattes, Dayton; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Wilfrid, Arnold and David; and three sisters, Viola Linkhart, Ursula Uhlenhake and Laura Henry.
A funeral Mass will be held at a later date. Burial will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.
Gene Adams
Former Fort Recovery resident Gene Matthew Adams, 58, of Trotwood, died Oct. 24, 2002, at University Hospital in Louisville, Ky., following a sudden illness.
He was born Dec. 15, 1944, in Indianapolis, Ind. His mother, Lucille (Knoth) VanSkyock, survives in Fort Recovery.
Also surviving are his wife, the former Penelope Becker; four sons, Matthew and Jon, both of Dayton, Troy of Cincinnati, and Kris of Clayton; a daughter and her husband, Stacy and Scott Melling, Indiana, and a daughter, Jennifer of Dayton; and two grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers and their wives, Jerry and Katherine, Cincinnati, and Ronnie and Connie VanSkyock, Fort Recovery, and a brother, Kevin VanSkyock, Ludlow Falls; and a sister and her husband, Joyce and Chuck Long, Celina.
Deceased are a stepfather, Weldon VanSkyock, and a brother, Larry VanSkyock.
He had served as program manager at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for 28 years. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church, Tipp City.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. John Jung officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle.

Jerry Enyart
Jerry W. Enyart, 53, 8248 Erastus-Durbin Road, Celina, died at 1:34 p.m. Oct. 27, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater, following a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 11, 1949, in Washington Township, Mercer County, to Sherman W. Enyart and Carrie L. (Williamson) Enyart Taylor. On June 9, 1979, he married Norma Jean Hone and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Andrew of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Laura and Ronald Stevens, Sweetser, Ind., and a daughter, Sara, at home; two brothers and their wives, Donald and Sandy of Rockford and Michael and Mae of Van Wert; two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Gene Steiner, Rockford, and Ada and John Fast, Celina; and three grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, James, and three sisters, Dorothy Flore, Norma Jean Howell and Barbara Enyart.
A 1967 graduate of Celina High School, he had worked as a security guard at Taylor University, Upland, Ind. He was a member of Celina Church of the Nazarene.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Larry D. Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
