Roland Meiring
Roland "Mort" Meiring, 75, 12562 Ohio 362, Minster, died at 3:40 p.m. Oct. 17, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
He was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Minster to Frank and Rose Jacob Meiring. On July 7, 1951, he married Delores Vehorn, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David and Jim (Vicki), all of Minster; and two daughters, Marge Meiring and Lynn (Jerry) Bergman, all of Minster; a brother, Elton "Sonny" Meiring, Minster; a sister, Betty (Tom) Heitbrink, Chickasaw; two sisters-in-law, Irene, Minster, and Mary, San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Deceased are two sisters and two brothers.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Augustine Orphan Society, Minster American Legion and Minster VFW.
He served with the U.S. Army in Korea and was retired from Minster Machine Co.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Carolyn Drake
Carolyn Ann Drake, 59, 5128 Grove St., Celina, died at 5:55 p.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at SCCI Hospital, part of St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born Dec. 9, 1944, in Mendon, to Norman Lee and Ruth Donovan Chaney. Her mother survives in Mendon. On Sept. 22, 1966, she married Joseph H. Drake who survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, William and Marvin Chaney, both of Mendon; and a sister-in-law, Glenda Chaney, also of Mendon.
Deceased are a son, Steven E.; two brothers, Junior Lee Chaney and Robert Donovan; and a sister, Marjorie Chaney.
She was a homemaker.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial will be at Mercer Memory Gardens.

Janet Droesch
Janet A. Droesch, 56, Eastview Drive, Coldwater, died at 12:40 p.m. at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater, following an extended illness.
She was born June 20, 1947, in Celina, to Herman V. and Rita M. Post Nerderman. On Sept. 1, 1969, she married Eugene S. Droesch who survives.
Also surviving are a brother, Robert (Linda) Nerderman, St. Henry; two sisters, Mary Ann (Gerald) Rosenbeck, Valrico, Fla., and Ruth M. Nerderman, Arcanum; her mother-in-law, Leona Droesch, St. Henry; three brothers-in-law, Cyril (Mary Ann), Jerry (Kathy) and Robert (Shirley) Droesch, all of St. Henry; and three sisters-in-law, Rita (Ernie) Staugler and Janice (Nick) Hess, all of Coldwater, and Margie Meiring, St. Henry.
She had worked as a licensed practical nurse at Jay County Hospital in Portland, Ind., since 1966. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, and a former board member of the St. Peter Neurological Center.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Judith Haffey
Judith B. Haffey, 67, 1306 Queensbury Drive, Celina, died at 7:23 a.m. Oct. 16, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Aug. 27, 1936, in Columbus, to Charles W. and Doris M. Ensign Balderson. On Nov. 6, 1955, she married Wilbur D. Haffey who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Larry D. (Pam) of Celina; three daughters, Luanne M. of Portland, Maine, Tamara J. (Ronald) Boess and Ria C. (Robert) Schroeder, all of Celina; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was a Realtor with Century 21 Masterkey. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Celina, and the Ohio Board of Realtors.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.

Bernice Hellwarth
Bernice Hellwarth, 90, 5428 Frahm Pike, Celina, died at 11:40 p.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born July 30, 1913, in Mercer County, to Lonnie and Lena Wagner Houts. On Oct. 29, 1939, she married Corwin Hellwarth who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Connie (Ken) Leonard of Green and Kathy (Ron) Davis, Fremont; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A sister, Mary Adams, is deceased.
She formerly worked as a secretary at Brookhart Insurance and was a homemaker. She was a 1931 graduate of Celina High School and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Don Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.

William Jutte
Mercer County native William J. Jutte, 23, of Dupont Lakes Drive, Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 11:10 p.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at University of Chicago Hospitals in Chicago, Ill. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Oct. 20, 1979, in Coldwater, to James and Mary Lefeld Jutte. They survive in St. Henry. On July 26, he married Kristina Wagner who survives.
Also surviving are four sisters, Marla (Mike) Wentz, Springfield, Elizabeth (Mark) Wendel, Lorna and Angela, all of St. Henry; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Vicki Wagner, Continental; paternal grandparents, Paul and Rita Jutte, Philothea; maternal grandmother, Clarina Lefeld, St. Henry; one nephew and three nieces.
He was a safety engineer at Tower Automotive, Auburn, Ind. A 1998 graduate of St. Henry High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of Findlay, he was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday, on what would have been his 24th birthday, at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Loretta Rinderle
Loretta M. Rinderle, 92, 451 E. Washington St., St. Henry, died at 12:40 p.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born Sept. 5, 1911, in St. Henry, to Jacob and Clara Macke Stein. On Dec. 18, 1934, she married Clarence Rinderle who died Dec. 4, 1978.
Surviving are a son, Dan (Margaret) of St. Henry; five daughters, Ann (Gene) Evers and Patricia (Karl) Kaiser, all of St. Henry, Ruth (Oliver) Wendel, Coldwater, Jane (Lavern) Clune, Huntsville, Ala., and Mary (Ken) Clune, Minster; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Rinderle, St. Henry; a sister-in-law, Mary Crosby, Searchlight, Nev.; 32 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Owen, and three sisters, Marcella Boyd, Agnes Schmit and Marie Stein.
She was a homemaker, a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Sodality and a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella, all of St. Henry.

Reuben Brewer
Reuben David Brewer, 78, 12155 Staudt Road, Union City, died Oct. 15, 2003, at his residence.
He was born July 1, 1925, in Darke County, to Alfred and Cora Oliver Brewer. His wife of 55 years, the former Elizabeth Wirrig, survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Donald (Cheri) and Dennis, all of Fort Recovery, and David (Leslie) of Union City; a sister, Lucile Harris, Hollansburg; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant son, three brothers, Wayne, Melvin and Ralph; and three sisters, Esther Oswald, Edith Miller and Edna Hoggatt.
A longtime Darke County farmer, he also drove a bus in the Jackson School District and the Mississinawa Valley Schools. He also was a Mississinawa Township trustee for eight years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Teegarden Congregational Christian Church, the Teegarden Cemetery Board and the American Legion Post, all of Ansonia, the Darke County Shrine Club and Antioch Shrine of Dayton. He was past master of Fort Recovery Masonic Lodge 539 and worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Ansonia.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. Terry Haworth and Mike Stout officiating. Burial will follow at Teegarden Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Union City American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Reichard Funeral Home Inc., Union City, Ind. A Masonic Lodge of Sorrow will be conducted there at 8 p.m.

Judith Burd
Judith L. Burd, 70, of St. Marys, died at 5:30 a.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at Otterbein Retirement Community, St. Marys.
She was born April 27, 1933, in St. Marys, to Norval and Rosemary Axe Botkin. On Sec. 19, 1953, she married Arthur Burd who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John, and a daughter, Holly (Jeff) Platt, both of St. Marys; a sister, Sarah (Oliver) Giere, Coldwater; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A brother, Jerry Botkin, is deceased.
A homemaker, she became St. Marys' first meter maid for parking enforcement in 1966. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys.

Ruth Geise
Ruth Evelyn Geise, 74, Woodview Drive, Coldwater, died at 2:13 a.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in St. Anthony, to Leo and Katherine Schritz Post. On July 3, 1948, she married Charles J. Geise who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dave (Cindy) of Coldwater; two daughters, Linda (John R.) Campbell, Fort Loramie, and Kathy (Tim) Hoyng, Coldwater; a brother, Leo (Maggie) Post, St. Anthony; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Two brothers, Eugene and James Post, are deceased.
She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.
