Albert Hammond
Albert W. "Moon" Hammond, 82, 14186 St. Marys River Road, St. Marys, died at 1:10 a.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at St. Marys Living Center.
He was born July 8, 1921, in St. Marys, to Charles and Grace Goodman Hammond. His wife, the former Freida Collins, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Albert Jr. of Lima and Christopher of St. Marys; a sister, Mary (Lyn) Hemmelgarn, Bellefontaine; and two grandchildren.
Eight brothers are deceased.
He retired from the former Fisher Cheese Co. in Wapakoneta, where he had been a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, Elder Lyn Hemmelgarn officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Richard Kuess
Richard H. Kuess, 92, formerly of Maria Stein, died at 4:25 p.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born Sept. 1, 1911, in Chickasaw, to Henry and Catherine Boeke Kuess. On Sept. 11, 1935, he married Alvira Niekamp who died July 10, 1976. On Feb. 11, 1977, he married Dorothy Lefeld Buening who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Othmar (Nancy) of Celina and Virgil (Rita) of Chickasaw; three stepsons, George (Rosie) Bruns, Chickasaw, Leonard Bruns, Greenville, and Alvin (Jan) Bruns, Sidney; two stepdaughters, Dolores (Jack) Gaier and Helen (George) Barhorst, all of Fort Loramie; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Aloysius, Anton and Roman, and a sister, Lauretta Schwieterman.
A retired farmer, he drove bus for the Marion Local Schools for 26 years. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Men's Sodality, Knights of St. John and the Uniform Rank of Commandary 313, all of Maria Stein. He also was a Noble Fourth Degree Knight.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at Precious Blood Cemetery, Chickasaw.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Shirley Orick
Shirley K. Orick, 76, of St. Marys, died at 10:40 p.m. Oct. 12, 2003, at her residence.
She was born June 5, 1927, in Kane Creek, Ky., to Allen and Angeline Goley Roller. Her husband of 40 years, Earl Orick, died in 1987.
Surviving are two sons, James (Debbie) Orick, Dixon, Calif., and Christopher Crick, Sidney; four sisters, Mary Ruffner, Chicago, Ill., Sally Fredericks, Indiana, Bertha Bradley and Sandy Bruns, both of St. Marys; and two grandsons.
Deceased are two infant sons, Jerry and Floyd David, and two brothers, Raymond and John Allen Roller.
She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, in 1973. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church, also of St. Marys.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Sunday at the church.

Loretta Rinderle
Loretta M. Rinderle, 92, 451 E. Washington St., St. Henry, died at 12:40 p.m. Oct. 15, 2003, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born Sept. 5, 1911, in St. Henry, to Jacob and Clara Macke Stein. On Dec. 18, 1934, she married Clarence Rinderle who died Dec. 4, 1978.
Surviving are a son, Dan (Margaret) of St. Henry; five daughters, Ann (Gene) Evers and Patricia (Karl) Kaiser, all of St. Henry, Ruth (Oliver) Wendel, Coldwater, Jane (Lavern) Clune, Huntsville, Ala., and Mary (Ken) Clune, Minster; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Rinderle, St. Henry; a sister, Marcella Boyd, Lima; a sister-in-law, Mary Crosby, Searchlight, Nev.; 32 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.
A son, Owen, and a sister, Agnes Schmit, are deceased.
She was a homemaker, a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Sodality and a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella, all of St. Henry.

Ruth Geise
Ruth Evelyn Geise, 82, Woodview Drive, Coldwater, died at 2:13 a.m. today, Oct. 15, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in St. Anthony, to Leo and Katherine Schritz Post. On July 3, 1948, she married Charles J. Geise who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dave (Cindy) of Coldwater; two daughters, Linda (John R.) Campbell, Fort Loramie, and Kathy (Tim) Hoyng, Coldwater; a brother, Leo (Maggie) Post, St. Anthony; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Two brothers, Eugene and James Post, are deceased.
She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Edith House
Edith M. House, 89, 113 Pinewood Court, Greenville, died at 4:05 p.m. Oct. 11, 2003, at Heartland Nursing Home, Greenville.
She was born April 28, 1914, in Darke County, to Phares and Fannie Christian Fourman. Her husband, Thurman T. House, died Oct. 27, 1983.
Surviving are a son, Lowell (Janice) of Greenville; three daughters, Helen (Jim) Stump, Fort Recovery, June (Clyde) Stump and Janice (Robert) Lyme, all of Greenville; a brother, John (Mary) Fourman, Greenville; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Galen and Dale Fourman; a sister, Ruth Fourman; a grandson and a great-grandson.
She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Neff Lettering, Greenville. She was a member of Greenville Church of the Brethren, Darke County Senior Citizens, Darke County Farm Bureau, The W.P.S. and Liberty Belle's Homemakers.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Ron Sherck officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Jefferson.

Carl W. Becker
Carl W. Becker, 94, rural Spencerville, died at 10:45 p.m. Oct. 11, 2003 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born July 24, 1909, in Jennings Township, Van Wert County, to George P. and Gertha Rempfer Becker. On Sept. 3, 1966, he married Evon GaBerdiel Major, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Myron J. Major, Garfield Heights, Byron (Anna) Major, Swartz Creek, Mich.; three daughters, Mary Jeanne (Jim) Shaner, Kalkaska, Mich., Maetta (Kevin) Kellermeyer, Yorktown, Ind. and Belinda K. (Mark) Sandy, Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, Robert, Wapakoneta, Forest (Bart) Becker, Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Mary (Bob) Burson, Kissimmee, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Harold, Maurice and Wayne; and one grandchild.
A 1927 graduate of Spencerville High School, he was a lifelong farmer and member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ. He was a member of Spencerville Grange 2424, a member of the Democratic Party, and a community historian.
Service are 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Revs. Jim Shaner and Chad Finney officiating. Burial will be in the Spencerville Cemetery.

Clarence Bergman
Clarence "Pete" Bergman, 91, formerly of Clune-Stucke Road, Maria Stein, died at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 10, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 2, 1912, in St. Rose, to John Theodore and Bernadina Knuefner Bergman.
Surviving are a brother, Victor (Helen) of Celina; a sister, Rosalinda Siefring, Rossburg; and a sister-in-law, Viola Bergman, St. Marys.
Deceased are two brothers, Aloys and Norbert, and two sisters, Elizabeth Keller and Rosemary Brunswick.
He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the Men's Sodality, both of St. Rose.

Isabelle J. Calhoun
Isabelle Johanna Calhoun, 2, 123 S. Vine St., St. Marys, died Oct. 11. 2003, in Saint Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, of injuries sustained in an auto accident on Saturday in Lima.
She was born June 15, 2001, in Lima to Luke and Victoria (Roberts) Calhoun, who survive.
Also surviving are: a sister, Olivia Lee, at home, who was also injured in the accident and is a patient in Toledo; two brothers, Luke, at home, and Zachary of Washington D.C.; paternal grandparents, John and Roshella Calhoun, Lima; paternal great-grandfather, Linzy Mosley, Hindman, Ky.; maternal grandparents, Lenville (Carolyn) Roberts Jr., Lima, and Maggie (Thomas) Foust, Lima; maternal great-grandparents, Lenville (Elizabeth) Roberts Sr., Lima, Elizabeth McDonald, Lima, and Kash Johnson, Boonesville, Ky.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home with Gary Mosley officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Anna M. Diller
Anna Marie Diller, 87, 811 Mercer-Darke County Line Road, Fort Recovery, died at 9:23 a.m. Oct. 12, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born April 16, 1916, in Celina, to Lawrence and Theresa Jacobs Will. On Aug. 26, 1939, she married Zeno Diller, who died Jan. 16, 1982.
Surviving are five sons: Robert (Marion), Jacobus, Pa., Neil (Patricia), Alan (Rose Ann), Louis (Jeanette) and Daniel, all of Fort Recovery; one daughter, Ruth (Earl) Heyne, Celina; seven sisters: Sr. Ruth Will and Sr. Laura Will, both C.PP.S. of Dayton, Dorothy Sliemers, Lima, Rita (Richard) Boeckman, Coldwater, Rosella (Harold) Broering, Maria Stein, Jane (Eugene) Ballweg, Chickasaw, Sr. Patricia Will, C.PP.S. of Holland, Mich.; one brother, Viro (Henrietta) Will, Fort Recovery; son-in-law, James Remaklus, Coldwater, sister-in-law, Mildred Will, Fort Recovery; 27 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant son, Arthur; a daughter, Alice Remaklus; a brother, Luke Will; brother-in-law Ben Sliemers; and a great-grandchild.
A graduate of the former Immaculate Conception High School, Celina, she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Daughters of Isabella, Fort Recovery, the Altar Sodality and served as a church CCD teacher.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
