Ruth Nelson
Ruth L. Nelson, 89, formerly of 302 Sturgeon St., St. Marys, died at 8:57 a.m. Oct. 12, 2003, at The Gardens at Celina.
She was born Oct. 19, 1913, in St. Marys, to Charles and Bertha Cantwil Garwick. On May 10, 1952, she married Ermel Nelson who died May 26, 1975.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Juanita Garwick, Troy; a nephew, and a niece.
A brother, Charles Garwick, and two sisters, Louetta Garwick and Martha Wierwille, are deceased.
A 1931 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, she had worked as a supervisor at the former St. Marys Woolen Mill and then worked at Hunter Printing in St. Marys. She had headed the Women's Guild at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys for 11 years.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Ed Groff officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

John J. Post
John J. Post, 65, died at 11:45 p.m. Oct. 11, 2003, at his residence.
He was born March 7, 1938, in St. Peter, to Aloys and Regina Muhlenkamp Post. On July 2, 1960, he married Wilma Kramer who died Aug. 27, 1990.
Surviving are two sons: Andy (Kris), Coldwater, Joseph (Trish), Celina; three daughters: Cecilia (Mike) Brunswick, Washington, Cathy (Bret) Bertke, Montezuma, Lucy (Doug) Strickler, Coldwater; a sister, Rosemary (Wilbert) Hartings, St. Rose; mother-in-law, Lula Kramer, St. Henry; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Virgil and Gerald.
Retired from Homan Equipment, he was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 1991, Coldwater, Eagles Aerie 3025, Coldwater, the VFW in Fort Recovery, and Ohio Progressive Sportsmen, Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday with an Eagles service at 7 p.m. at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday also at Hogenkamp.

Delores Wehrman
Delores M. Wehrman, 78, 55 Elm St., Fort Loramie, died at 1:30 a.m. Oct. 11, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born Dec. 29, 1924, in Fort Loramie, to Julius and Marie Middendorf Barlage. On June 14, 1947, she married Richard H. Wehrman who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John (Kathy) of Troy; a daughter, Jane (Dennis) Bensman, Dayton; three brothers, Robert (Beatrice) of Newport, Paul (Doris) and William (Margie), all of Dayton; a sister, Peg (Roger) Heitkamp, Fort Loramie; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Judy Widney, and two brothers are deceased.
She retired from Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney, and was a former court clerk in Fort Loramie. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, where she had been a CCD teacher, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Apostleship of Prayer, all of Fort Loramie.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Vernon Wolfe
Vernon E. Wolfe, 88, of Ocala, Fla., and formerly of St. Marys and Neptune, died at 2 a.m. Sept. 12, 2003, in Ocala, after an extended illness.
He was born June 6, 1915, in Mercer County, to George and Leota Wolfe. In 1932 , he married Alma Edith, who died in December 1990.
Survivors include a son, William of Ocala, Fla,; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are three sisters and a brother.
A member of the United Brethren Church, he retired from Goodyear in St. Marys, and was the owner of Wolfe's Country Side Gardens, in Neptune.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 Tuesday at Liberty Township Cemetery, near Neptune, the Rev. Deborah Dull officiating.
Lee Siebert
Lee A. Siebert, 85, of 8985 Hellwarth Road, Celina, died at 2:04 p.m. Oct. 9, 2003, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Mercer County, to Charles and Anna Teglar Siebert. On Aug. 21, 1954, he married Marcella Frahm, who survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Ruth (William) Evers, Coldwater, Marie (Mike) Rose, Versailles, Pat of Celina, and Linda (Ron) Hoying, Celina; a brother, Paul (Lela) of Celina; three sisters, Bertha (Earl) Waggoner, Voorheesville, N.Y., Florence (Fred) Bering, Hoagland, Ind., and Annetta Siebert, Celina; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Walter, Irvin and Robert, and sisters, Esther, Willehemia and Louella.
A member of St. John Luthern Church in Hopewell Towhship, he served 30 years in the church vestry and was a member of the church men's group. The retired farmer and World War II veteran also was a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau Federation, where he worked on membership campaigns.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Debra L. Domeier officiating. Burial will follow at Buck Cemetery
Calling is 2-4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and an hour prior to service Monday at the church.
Gerald Borger
Gerald "Jerry" Borger, 82, 534 Lisle St., Celina, died at 1:23 p.m. Oct. 7, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Aug. 13, 1921, in St. Henry, to Farry and Cecelia Schmalstig Borger. On June 9, 1943, he married Elizabeth Weyandt who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Mike of Celina, Philip (Sheryl) of Franklin, and Dave (Cindy), Conyers, Ga.; two daughters, Mary (Mert) Nottingham, Celina, and Elaine (Skip) Tekamp, Coldwater; a brother, Louis (Beatrice) of St. Marys; three sisters, Helen (Vic) Bergman, Celina, Mildred (Louis) Homan, Dayton, and Lucille (Urban) Berning, Maria Stein; a brother-in-law, Jack Birkmeyer, Celina; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Elmer and Alfred, and a sister, Roselyn Birkmeyer.
He worked at Benny's Bakery in Celina for 25 years and retired from Minster Machine Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Disabled American Veterans and the Knights of Columbus, all of Celina, and Coldwater American Legion Post.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Brenberger officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.

Wilfred Nagel
Wilfred H. "Bud" Nagel, 83, of Dayton, died Oct. 8, 2003, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born May 6, 1920, in Minster, to Charles and Odelia Schwieterman Nagel.
Surviving with his wife, the former Ruth Vance, are two daughters, Delores (Donald) Johnson, Dayton, and Nancy (John) Templeton, Huber Heights; four brothers, Herbert (Fran) of Dayton, Stan (JoAnn) and Robert S. (Donna L.), all of New Bremen, and Charles Jr. (Roberta) of Germantown; a sister, Mary (Jim) Brown, Minster; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
He was a self-employed painter.
Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dayton. Burial followed at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Dayton.
Westbrock Funeral Home, Dayton, had charge of arrangements.
Esther Ranly
Esther M. Ranly, 80, of Fort Recovery, died at 7:45 a.m. Oct. 9, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Fort Recovery, to Chris and Pauline Fink Ranly.
Surviving are three brothers, Harold (Joan) and Wilfred (Ruth Etta), all of Fort Recovery, and Tom (Jackie) of Charleston, S.C.; and two sisters, Irene Reitz, Celina, and Mary (Bob) Nieberding, Maria Stein.
Deceased are three brothers, Clarence, Carl and Mark, and a sister, Alberta Hartings.
She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. A prayer service will be held there at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Charles Barker
Charles Barker, 87, 8424 Shelley Road, Mendon, died at 1:20 a.m. Oct. 8, 2003, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
He was born May 13, 1916, in Dixon, to Ferd and Ida Clayton Barker. On March 18, 1943, he married Clora Generva Mohler and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Elaine (Jerry) Steiner, Mendon; a sister-in-law, Helen Barker, Ossian, Ind.; two granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
Deceased are six brothers, Earl, Forrest, Dwight, Lester, Chester and Floyd, and a sister, Ruth.
A retired farmer, he had worked for state and county highway departments in Van Wert and the Tully Township road department. He attended Calvary Evangelical Church, Van Wert.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Mendon, the Rev. Raymond E. Feeck officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
