Gloria Vagedes
Gloria Vagedes, 65, West Butler Street, Coldwater, died at 6 a.m. Sept. 30, 2003, at Roselawn Nursing Home, Spencerville, following an extended illness.
She was born Sept, 23, 1938, in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., to Furman and Obbie Newsome Avery. On April 11, 1953, she married Thomas Vagedes who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Cecelia Ann (Gregory) Bornhorst, New Bremen, Marilyn Jean (Kenneth) Sanders, Huntington, Ind., and Linda Carol Nisewarner, Celina; a sister, Phyllis (Donald) Curtis, Ormond Beach, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
A son, Thomas J., and a grandson are deceased.
She formerly worked at Huffy's in Celina and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Mary Werling
Mary Jean Werling, 76, Burkettsville-St. Henry Road, Celina, died of cancer at 12:15 a.m. today, Oct. 1, 2003, at her residence.
She was born June 16, 1927, in Sharpsburg, to George and Rose Klenke Rammel.
Surviving with her husband, Peanuts Werling, are a son, Bill (Peg) of Coldwater; two daughters, Sandy (Steve) Nash, Glenwood, W. Va., and Bev (Russ) Badgett, Celina; a brother, Fred (Delma) Rammel, Fort Recovery; a sister, Helen Aisenbrey, Fort Recovery; four sisters-in-law, Eleanor Rammel, New Town, N.D., Irma Rammel, Englewood, Monica Rammel, Brookville, and Norma Rammel, Greenville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Richard, Herb, Alvin and Harold, and two sisters, Rita Livingston and Irene Franck.
She was a homemaker and a former dietitian at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Dr. Noel Miller
Former Celina resident, Dr. Noel Thomas "Doc" Miller, 68, of Nokomis, Fla., died at 4:33 p.m. Oct. 23, 2000 at Sarasota Doctors Hospital in Florida.
He was born Jan. 16, 1932, to the late Dr. Herald L. and Ronda G. (Collins) Miller, of Celina. On Jan. 16, 1950, he married Nancy Jane Carson, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Terry Ann and Kenneth Johnson, Van Wert, and Tammy and Larry Kuperus, Freeport, Mich., and a daughter, Trina L. of Van Wert; two sons and their wives, N. Thomas Jr. and Barb of Convoy, and Tracy L. and Dawn of Van Wert; a sister, Ronda Kay Koontz, Mendon; a brother and his wife, James Wick and Karen of Celina; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Richard, and a grandson.
He was a former chiropractor of Van Wert and served in the U.S. Naval Air Reserve between 1949 and 1957. He served as past president of Van Wert Jaycees, past president and past finance committee chairman of St. Marys of the Assumption Church Council, past president of Van Wert Shrine Club, officer or director of Ohio State Chiropractic Association, Chairman of the Ohio State Chiropractic Society Board, secretary and treasurer of Ohio Federation of Chiropractic Organizations, treasurer and district director of District 7 Chiropractic Association, and helped establish the Ohio State Chiropractic Association and a full Chiropractic Examining Board. He was a past member of Epiphany Cathedral Catholic Church of Venice, Fla., Van Wert Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Van Wert, Inc., Van Wert County Democratic Club, Black Swamp High Twelve 579, Van Wert County Chiropractic Association, American Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics, National Academy of Research Biochemist and Logan Chiropractic College Alumni Association. He was a member of Van Wert Lodge 218 Free and Accepted Masons, 32nd Degree Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, Noble of the Zenobia Shrine, Toledo, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks 1197, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1473, District 7 Chiropractic Association, Ohio State Chiropractic Association and American Chiropractic Association. He received numerous appreciation and service awards, including the Chiropractor of the Year in 1978, Presidents Award, Treasurer Emeritus from Ohio State Chiropractic Association, Hall of Fame Award from the Ohio State Chiropractic Association, and was inducted into the Ohio State Chiropractic Hall of Fame. He graduated from Normandy High School St. Louis, Mo., and attended Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, Palmer Chiropractic College of Davenport, Iowa, and National Chiropractic College of Chicago, Ill. He received his license from the Ohio State Medical Board in 1954.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Van Wert, the Rev. Joseph Schmelzer officiating.

Chelsie Jennings
Chelsie L. Jennings, 24 days, 403 Alder St., Fort Recovery, died of natural causes at 8:55 a.m. Oct. 1, 2000 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born Oct. 9, in Muncie, Ind., to Ted J. Jennings and Bonnie E. Carder, both whom survive at the residence.
Other survivors are a half brother, Devin, at home; grandparents, Jim and Ann Ridgeway, Portland, Ind., Joe Jennings, Fallon, Nev., and Debbie Lare, Salamonia, Ind.; and great-grandparents, Roy Jennings of Alabama, and Nancy Jones, Fort Recovery.
Deceased is a sister, Heaven.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Springhill Cemetery, Fort Recovery, the Rev. John Perkins officiating.

Phyllis Carr
Former Rockford resident Phyllis Pixler Carr, 85, died Oct. 29, 2000 at her Salt Lake City, Utah, residence.
She was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Rockford, to Clifford Charles and Zelpha Leona (King) Pixler. She was married to Keith Ewing Carr, who died in 1980.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Judith and Doyle Lyke, Anchorage, Alaska; a son, William C. of Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Charles Lloyd Pixler, Defiance, and Jack Pixler of Florida; and a grandson.
Deceased is a brother, William F. Pixler.
She had worked as a clerical worker, was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Defiance, and attended the Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Karen Long officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Edward Wendel
Edward A. Wendel, 82, died at 2:30 a.m. Nov. 3, 2000 at his residence at 120 S. Rauthland Ave., Wapakoneta.
He was born March 10, 1918, in Jay County, Ind., to Frank and Josephine (Wagner) Wendel. On Nov. 28, 1939, he married Rita R. Soder, who survives.
Other survivors are three daughters and their husbands, Joan and Jack Hindenlang, and Jane and Keith Bender, all of Wapakoneta, Jean and Richard Egbert, New Knoxville, and a daughter, Janet Wendel, Mason; a son and his wife, William and Elaine of Botkins; 19 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Joe, Herbert, Harvey and Roy, four sisters, Elsie Euclid, Bertha Schnippel, Rosa Steinke, and Anna Wendel, and a granddaughter.
He was a retired livestock dealer, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta and former member of Immaculate Conception Church, Botkins.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Peter Chiodo officiating. Burial is at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Botkins.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, with a Christian prayer service at 6 p.m.

Roger Schoch
Roger R. Schoch, 78, 245 S. Garfield St., Minster, died after a brief illness Nov. 3, 2000 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 7, 1922, in Coldwater to Odelia (Tangeman) and Daniel Schoch, both deceased. On June 11, 1946, he married Lucille Schoch, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Janice and Patrick McGowan of Fort Loramie and Judy and John Paietta of Beavercreek; a son and his wife, Daniel and Terry of Minster; two sisters, Gerry Sininger of Bryan and Rita Noll of Santa Maria, Cal.; two sisters and their husbands, Marilyn and Vincent Kanney of Coldwater and Jeanette and George Fisher of Celina; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Deceased is one daughter, Carol Geron; and one brother, Louis Schoch.
He served in the U.S Army as a First Sergeant during World War II in the South Pacific and garnered numerous military honors. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster and was a member of the St. Augustine Men's choir. He was a member and past commander of the Minster Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6432, the Minster American Legion Post 387 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a member of the Lake Loramie Improvement Association.
He worked as an embalmer and a funeral director for Heinl Funeral Home, Minster, and was a retired employee of the Minster Post Office.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Church, Fort Loramie, with Rev. William Hoyng officiating. Interment will be at St. Augustine Cemetery with full military honors.
Calling will be Sunday 2-8 p.m. and Monday 9-9:30 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Kenneth Wourms
Former Mercer County resident Kenneth Wourms, 84, died Nov. 3, 2000 at the Hospice of Dayton.
He was born Nov. 8, 1915 to William and Cora (King) Wourms in St. Henry, both deceased. He married the former Irene Warren, who survives.
Other survivors are four daughters and their husbands, Louann and Pete Stammen of St. Henry, Della and Russ Lincoln of Dayton, Marty and Robert Niederman of Dayton, Rita and Rick Teiper of Portland, Or; two sons and their wives, Mark and Patty Wourms of Kansas City, Mo., Louis and Diana Wourms of Beavercreek and seven grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Marie Fiely and a brother, Paul.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. He retired from Equitable Life and also had worked with Dayton Builders Supply. He was a member of Dayton Indoor Tennis, the Lion's Club, the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Exhausted Roosters Club.
He bequeathed his body for prostate research to Wright State School of Medicine.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Albert's Church, Far Hills and Dorothy Lane, Nov. 6 at noon.

Richard Kaufhold
Richard R. Kaufhold, 51, 905 Kingswood Dr., Celina, died of apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds Nov. 3, 2000 at 11:12 a.m. at his residence.
He was born May 9, 1949, in Allendale, N.J. to Robert and Jean (Bouma) Kaufhold. He married Linda Whitaker, who survives.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Kaufhold of Celina and Brandy Kaufhold of Greenville; and one daughter, Cheryl Haines of Oklahoma.
He was a retired plumber from Greenville City Water Department, Greenville.
Private services will be conducted at a later date at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.
