John McDonald
John A. McDonald, 71, 1701 Nagel St., St. Marys, died at 6:45 p.m. Nov. 10, 2000 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born July 4, 1929, in Ohio City, to Raymond and Mary (Shingledecker) McDonald. On Sept. 16, 1972, he married Carol Schaffer, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Ron and Julie Rupert, Whitesboro, Texas, and Russ and Deb Rupert, Botkins; a daughter and her husband, Roxanne and James Lengerich, St. Marys; two brothers, Raymond of Fort Myers, Fla., and William of Celina; two half brothers, Charlie Mayer, Coldwater, and Ron of Lima; four half sisters, Janet Hinton, Phoenix, Ariz., Grace Nutter, Cleveland, Beverly Boyters, Newport News, Va., and Ethel Markum of California.
Deceased are a brother, Lowell, and a sister, Mary Catherine McCormick.
He was retired as a buffer from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 323, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, all of St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the American Heart Fund.

Rev. Anthony Vollmer, C.PP.S.
Rev. Anthony Lawrence Vollmer, C.PP.S., 75, died Nov. 10, 2000 at St. Charles Center in Carthagena.
He was born March 30, 1925, in Waukegan, Ill., to Benno Michael and Bertha (Lentz) Vollmer.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Assumption Chapel at St. Charles. Burial will follow in the center's cemetery.
Calling is 1-7 p.m. Friday at St. Charles Center, with a wake service at 7 p.m.
Further information is pending from Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

George Scott
Former Jay County Sheriff and Portland, Ind., Police Chief George J. Scott, 78, died Nov. 14, 2000 at his St. Henry residence.
He was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Lima, to George and Mary (Springer) Scott.
Survivors are four sons, Lucky of Portland, Ind., Anthony Harold of Basin, Wyo., Michel of Cody, Wyo., and Scott C. of Union City; a daughter and her husband, Linda and David Martin, Portland, Ind.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Portland Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, and American Legion Post 211.
Memorial services are 7 p.m. Thursday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, Ind.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Robert Birt
Robert L. Birt, 69, died at 4:45 p.m. Nov. 15, 2000 at his residence at 721 E. Kremer-Hoying Road, St. Henry.
He was born April 6, 1931, in Coldwater, to Russell and Alvina (Kremplebeck) Birt. On Oct. 1, 1955, he married Doris A. Bertke, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Bob and Lisa of Coldwater; two daughters and their husbands, Angela and Jerry Dircksen, Minster, and Tess and Tom Kaup, Fort Recovery, and a daughter Becky of St. Henry; a brother and his wife, Jim and Rita of Celina; a sister and her husband, Myra and Ronald Weddle, Rockford; a brother-in-law, Paul Bertke, St. Henry; a sister-in-law and her husband, Pat and Tom Hamberg, Coldwater; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was retired from Pet Milk Co., Coldwater, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and American Legion, St. Henry.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 8:45-9:45 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

Gladys Sibert
Gladys Lucille Sibert, 84, 3078 Mud Pike, Celina, died at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 17, 2000 at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Liberty Township, to Charles and Vesta (Miller) Bilter. On Jan. 2, 1935 in Florence, Ky., she married Lowell Sibert, who survives in Celina.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, James W. and Martie, Monument, Col., and Richard L. and Shirley, Celina; a daughter and her husband, Jean E. and John Bruns, Coldwater, a brother and his wife, Harold and Mary Bilter, Celina; a brother-in-law and his wife, Lovell and Wilma Birt, West Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Marge Bilter, Celina; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Donald Bilter, and a sister, Naomi Birt.
She retired in 1977 from Celina City Schools, where she worked in the cafeteria for many years. She was a member of Celina First Church of God and taught Sunday school there until the few years ago. She was a 1933 graduate of the former Rockford High School.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Celina First Church of God, the Revs. Richard Van Horn and Stephen Dunn officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Dick and Sons Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour before the service Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to the church.

Kenneth Wourms
Former Mercer County resident Kenneth W. Wourms, 84, died Nov. 3, 2000 at the Hospice of Dayton.
He was born Nov. 8, 1915 to William and Cora (King) Wourms in St. Henry, both deceased. He married the former Irene Warren, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Marty and Robert Niederman of Dayton and Rita and Rick Teiper of Portland, Or.; two sons and their wives, Mark and Patty Johnson Wourms of Kansas City, Mo., Louis and Diana Brown Wourms of Beavercreek , a son Gregory of Columbus; a sister and her husband, Louann and Pete Stammen of St. Henry ; a sister Della Lincoln of Dayton, and seven grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Marie Fiely, a brother, Paul, and a brother-in-law Russ Lincoln.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. He retired from Equitable Life and also had worked with Dayton Builders Supply. He was a member of Dayton Indoor Tennis, the Lion's Club, the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Exhausted Roosters Club.
He bequeathed his body for prostate research to Wright State School of Medicine.
A Memorial Mass was held at St. Albert's Church, Far Hills and Dorothy Lane, Nov. 6, 2000.
Contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton.

Marjorie Daum
Marjorie M. Daum, 92, a resident of St. Marys Living Center, died at 1:50 p.m. Nov. 18, 2000 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Sept. 30, 1908, in Auglaize County, to James and Bessie (DeVore) Montague. On June 25, 1929, she married Orville "Bill" Rempe, who died Feb. 16, 1956. On May 8, 1971, she married Oswald Daum, who died April 8, 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith Stoll of Grand Rapids, Mich., and four grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Beverly Barrick, a sister, Mable Adams, and a brother, Richard Montague.
She was an employee of the former Montgomery Ward Company, St. Marys, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys.
Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is from noon until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lora Davis
Lora Faye Davis, 86, of Celina, died Nov. 19, 2001 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born July 2, 1914, in Mercer County, to Willis and Adarene (Anderson) Stetler. She was married to Lawrence Davis, who died in December 1986.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Janice and Merle Black, and a daughter, Brenda Swain, all of Celina; a son, Darst of Celina; a sister and her husband, Kathyren and Harry Muether, Marion; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister and a brother.
She was retired from the former Huffy Bicycle Corp., Celina, and was a member of Celina First Church of God.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Stephen Dunn officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cisco Funeral Home.
Contributions can be made to the church.

Douglas Schultz
Douglas Lee Schultz, 48, of Glynwood Road, Wapakoneta, died of natural causes at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 19, 2001 at University Hospital in Cincinnati.
He was born Aug. 6, 1952, in Lima, to Kermit H. and Onda J. (Redden) Schultz, both whom survive in Wapakoneta.
Other survivors include a grandmother, Opal Ballard of St. Marys.
Deceased is an infant brother, Steven K.
He operated the Snack Bar in the Safety Building in Dayton, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta. He was a member of Ohio Blind Vendors Association and the Auglaize County Horsemen Association. He was a 1970 graduate of Wapakoneta Senior High School, and a 1971 graduate of Ohio Rehabilitation for the Blind, Cleveland.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, the Rev. G. Richard Bell officiating. Burial is at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to The Foundation Fighting Blindness or to the church.

Helen Nance
Helen Marie Nance, 75, 830 W. Main St., Coldwater, died at 8:50 p.m. Nov. 19, 2001 at Briarwood Manor in Coldwater.
She was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Cable, to Robert and Bertha (Bates) Mayberry. She was married to Robert Nance, who is deceased.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Larry and Kay of Versailles, and a son, Thomas of Fort Loramie; five daughters and their husbands, Mary and Ken Schlarman, Troy, Bobbie and Mike Schlarman and Judy and Sam Mann, all of Osgood, Kathy and Melvin Monnin and Becky and Frank Grilliot, all of Russia, and a daughter, Linda Newcom, Coldwater; two sisters, Shirley Woods, West Liberty, and Betty Barker, North Lewisburg; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter.
She was a homemaker and a member of Beamsville Church in Greenville.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, the Rev. Steve Short officiating. Burial is at Brock Cemetery.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
