Theodore Pohlman
Theodore C. Pohlman, 75, 831 W. Oliver St., St. Marys, died at 3 a.m. Nov. 20, 2001 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 2, 1924, in St. Marys, to Theodore Sr. and Gladys (Lininger) Pohlman. On July 5, 1944, he married Mary Metzger, who died July 26, 1998. On Oct. 29, he married Lois (Wierwille) Henning, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Darlene and Barton Beck, and Judith Ann and Frank Hutson, all of New Bremen; a stepdaughter and her husband, Paulette and Gary King, Celina, and two stepdaughters, Pamela Henning, Massillon, and Linda Bubp, St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Janice of Van Wert; two sisters and their husbands, Rose and Roger Leffel, St. Marys, and Mary Louise and William Kill, Venedocia; nine grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a number of stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Carla Jean, a son, Robert, and a sister, Elizabeth Beck.
He was retired as a sheet metal worker in the engineering department of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant in the 881st Field Artillery Battalion, 69th division in Central Europe. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 323 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, all of St. Marys, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, Celina.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial with joint military rites conducted by American Legion and VFW are at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a memorial service conducted by the American Legion and VFW at 7 p.m.

Charles Lefeld
Charles G. Lefeld, 43, 503 N. Mill St., Celina, died following an accident Nov. 20, 2001 at Limberlost Sand and Gravel in Geneva, Ind.
He was born Nov. 10, 1957, in Coldwater, to Martin and Mary Ann (Prenger) Lefeld, both whom survive.
Other survivors include a daughter, Rainier Elena of Celina; six brothers and their wives, Alfred and Jackie of Centerville, Steve and Michelle of Troy, Andrew and Volina of Carlisle, Jim and Rose, and Marvin and Tricia, all of St. Henry, and Dennis and Dina of Bellbrook, and two brothers, Vincent and Ronald, both of St. Henry; two sisters and their husbands, Martha and Charles Tobe, Beavercreek, and Carolyn and Calvin Romer, Dayton, and a sister, Jennifer of St. Henry; a sister-in-law, Cindy of St. Henry.
Deceased is a brother, Gerald.
He was employed by Limberlost, a Division of St. Henry Tile Co., and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, both of Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Henry Church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 8:30-10:15 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
Richard Schaub
Richard L. Schaub, 46, 1025 Ambassador Drive, Reno, Nev., died following a brief illness at 6:44 p.m. Nov. 17, 2001 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno.
He was born Feb. 17, 1954, in Sidney, to William G. and Viola L. (Kinstle) Schaub.
Survivors include a stepmother, Celia of Lima; a brother and his wife, Robert and Cindy of Botkins, and a brother, Eugene of Jackson Center; three sisters and their husbands, Mary Ann and Jim Warniment, and Linda and Jack Cole, all of Wapakoneta, and Judy and Carl Kempfer, Anna.
Deceased are his parents and an infant brother.
He was a sales representative for United Rentals and was a member of St. Albert's Catholic Church, both in Reno, Nev. He was a 1972 graduate of Botkins High School.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine, the Rev. James F. Trick officiating. Burial is at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. A memorial service will be held in Reno at a later date.

Sr. Mary Kunk
Sr. Mary Catherine Kunk, 79, 02439 Ohio 364, Minster, died at 9:01 a.m. Nov. 21, 2001 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, from injuries sustained in a car accident near New Bremen.
She was born July 29, 1921, in Coldwater to Louis and Pauline (Vagedes) Kunk.
Survivors are two brothers, Alfred and Herman, both of Coldwater; and two sisters, Alma Venys, Dayton, and Edna Rutschilling, Coldwater.
Deceased is a brother, Donald.
She entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Dayton on Aug. 8, 1943, and served as an elementary and high school teacher at various schools in Fort Wayne, Ind., Dayton, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Norwood from 1946-1961. She served in community positions as Director of Novices and Vice President of the Congregation for the Sisters of the Precious Blood. She directed retreats and gave spiritual direction at the Maria Stein Center for more than 20 years.
Funeral Mass is at 2 p.m. Monday at the Salem Heights Chapel, Dayton. Burial is at Salem Heights Convent Cemetery, Dayton.
Calling will immediately follow a 1 p.m. wake service on Sunday and 12:30-1:45 p.m. Monday, both at the chapel.
Bonnie Morrow
Bonnie B. Morrow, 103, died Nov. 24, 2001 at Miller House, Celina, where she was a resident.
She was born Sept. 10, 1897, in North Star, to Job and Sue Ann (Mendenhall) Goslee. On June 30, 1919, she married Arthur Dillon Morrow, who died August 5, 1978.
Survivors are a son and his wife, James and Eloise of Kissimmee, Fla.; two daughters, Joanne Witges, O'Fallon, Ill., and Winifred Keister, Celina; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Richard, five brothers and a sister.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, Celina Garden Club and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the former Rebecca Lodge and Mercer County Tuberculosis and Health Association. She attended North Star School.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Rev. Kathleen J. Hayes officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 7-9 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, and two hours prior to services Sunday at the church.

J. Paul Schmieder
J. Paul Schmieder, 62, died at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 23, 2001 at Heritage Manor, Minster, where he was a resident.
He was born June 27, 1938, in Lexington, Ky., to Carl and Leona (Schmitmeyer) Schmieder.
Survivors include two brothers and their wives, Carl and Herberta of Milford, and Luke and Judy of Denver, and a brother, Rev. Mark C. of Cincinnati; three sisters and their husbands, Darlene and Monte Dieringer, Scottsdale, Linda and Leroy Lautenschlager, St. Louis, and Lisa and Brian Kostuch, Dayton.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster.

Francis Conrad
Francis N. "Coonie" Conrad, 88, of Celina, died Nov. 25, 2001 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 14, 1912, in Grand Rapids, to George W. and Alta V. (Coss) Conrad. On Sept. 18, 1934, he married Arna H. Bucher, who died Nov. 25, 1996.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Gary and Barbara of Celina; a foster daughter and her husband, Mae and John Schlotz, Grand Rapids; a granddaughter, two stepgrandchildren and a stepgreat-granddaughter.
He was a retired school bus driver for Grand Rapids and Otsego schools, and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, and Mid-States Jeepsters Association.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial is at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Agnes Schmit
Former Celina resident Agnes Rosalia Schmit, 81, died at 1:20 a.m. Nov. 26, 2001 at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home in Coldwater.
She was born March 18, 1919, in St. Henry, to Jacob and Clara (Macke) Stein. On July 19, 1962, she married Donald M. Schmit, who died Jan. 16, 1986.
Survivors include a sister, Loretta Rinderle of St. Henry.
Deceased are two sisters, Marie Stein and Marcella Boyd.
She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and its Christian Mother's Sodality, Montezuma, and Daughters of Isabelle, St. Henry.

Gerald Sutton
Former Mendon resident Gerald Edgar Sutton, 94, died at 8:25 a.m. Nov. 25, 2001 at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 18, 1905, in Van Wert County, to Charles and Iva (Rickard) Sutton. On June 18, 1927, he married Edith Boroff, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Jim and Helen Sutton, Rome, N.Y., and three sons, Ned of Alabama, Paul of Celina, and Ray of Van Wert; four daughters and their husbands, Carol and Lem Mosier, Van Wert, Alice and Larry Krick, Celina, Ethel and Dick Fackler, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Sylvia and Gary Miller, Tipp City; two brothers and their wives, Aaron and Fran of Van Wert, and Daniel and Maxine of Lima; two sisters and their husbands, Pauline and Bob Jones, Ohio City, and Joan and Bill Davis, Kokomo, Ind., and three sisters, Opal Busley, Elyria, Hazel Felver, North Manchester, Ind., and Janice Agler, Decatur, Ind.; 26 grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant daughter, Martha, two sisters, Dorothy Dobbs and Leota Sutton, a brother, Earl, and a great-grandson.
He was a retired farmer in Mendon, and was a member and lay speaker of Gideons International, a life elder of Mendon Church of God, and attended Grace Missionary Church in Celina.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Missionary Church, Celina, the Rev. Steve Howell officiating. Burial is at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Matilda Wynk
Matilda Wynk, 86, 8169 Guadalupe Road, Celina, died at 10:15 p.m. Nov. 24, 2001 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born March 6, 1914, in Maria Stein, to John and Bernadine (Pohlman) Homan. On May 6, 1936, she married Albert Wynk, who died in 1991.
Survivors are three sons and their wives, Paul and Connie, and Vern and Patty, all of Coldwater, and Don and Jean of Celina; two daughters and their husbands, Eileen and Bryce Bookhart, and Alice and Mike Yaney, all of Celina; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother and four sisters.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and its Christian Mother Sodality, Montezuma.
