Mary Sheets
Mary F. Sheets, 69, 3956 U.S. 224, Convoy, died at 9:15 p.m. Nov. 28 at Lima Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 23, 1933 in Champaign County to George and Thelma Tingley Neer. On Dec. 22, 1956, she married Charles Ed Sheet, and he died in 1994.
Survivors are a son, D'Wight E. (Michelle), Willshire; a daughter Marilyn (Michael) Frueh, Lima and six grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey, and a sister, Frieda.
She was the high school choral director for 32 years at Crestview High School in Convoy. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Van Wert, where she served as church choir director for over 30 years. She also attended Oneco United Methodist Church in Bradenton, Fla. She was president of Women's Fellowship, Order of Eastern Star # 68, in which she served as past worthy matron and grand deputy. She also was grand director of Sweet Adelines in Fort Wayne, Ind., a member of the Convoy Garden Club, the West Ohio Historical Society and music director of Harmony Notes in Bradenton.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating.
Calling is noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, Ind. There will be an Eastern Star service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evangelical Protestant Cemetery.

Edwin Henning
Edwin R. Henning, 80, 14210 Ohio 116, St. Marys, died suddenly Nov. 26, 2002, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.
He was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Wyandotte, Mich., to Roy and Louise Horn Hiede. He was adopted by a stepfather, Harvey Henning Sr., following his father's death. On Feb. 28, 1948, he married Berniece Boice and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Edwin D. (JoAnn) of Marion and Terry W. (Brenda) of St. Marys; two daughters, Janiece R. and P. Nanette (Shawn) Reier, both of St. Marys; two brothers, Harvey Jr. of Paincourt, Ontario, Canada, and William of St. Marys; a sister, Martha Nagel, St. Marys; and numerous grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Coleen Kay, and a brother, Herbert.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the European Theatre during World War II. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, where he had worked as a pipefitter and served as a union representative for a number of years.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, both of St. Marys, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Celina. He also was a life member of American Legion Post 323 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, also of St. Marys. He had been active in the St. Marys Little League program for 45 years.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Steve Nelson officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ruth Meier
Ruth B. Meier, 101, Delisle Fourman Road, Greenville, died Nov. 26, 2002, at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville.
She was born Nov. 10, 1901, near Lynn, Ind., to Edward and Mary Meyer Blizzard. Her husband, Harry C. Meier, died Feb. 20, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Verlin (Sue) of Celina and Dale A. (Karen) of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Fred Blizzard, Union City; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Paul, Donald and Roy Blizzard; a sister, Esther Kiser; and a granddaughter.
A graduate of Indiana Business College in Muncie, Ind., she worked as a bookkeeper and stenographer in Winchester and Marion, Ind., prior to her marriage. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greenville, and the Nifty Neave Homemakers.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Oliver Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Ronald Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Cemetery.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John Nelson
John R. Nelson, 70, 565 E. Market St., Celina, died at 2:55 a.m. Nov. 28, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Columbus, to Bernard and Edna May Perkins Nelson.
There are no survivors.
He was a retired construction worker.
Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, has charge of arrangements. There is no visitation and burial will be later at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
John Oehler
John T. Oehler, 57, 1100 Myers Road, Apt. 57, Celina, died at 4:35 p.m. Nov. 27, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 25, 1945, in Celina, to Frederick and Marcella Kincaid Oehler. On Jan. 1, 1993, he married Sharon Barber and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Jeff of Napoleon; two stepdaughters, Melody Ethridge, Decatur, Ala., and Shanna Andrews, Celina; two brothers, Mike of Defiance and James of Stryker; a sister, Sharon Leach, Timmonsville, S.C.; and six grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Stephen, and a half brother, Richard Sutter.
He was a retired construction supervisor for cable television installation. A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Loyal Order of Moose, all of Celina, and the American Veterans, St. Marys.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.

Carolyn Smith
Carolyn "Jeannie" Smith, 55, 8749 E. Indiana 26, Portland, Ind., died Nov. 27, 2002, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus. Death was due to leukemia.
She was born March 20, 1947, in Celina, to Charles Sr. and Treva Fishbaugh Bechtol. On Sept. 30, 1972, she married Richard Smith and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Brian (Amanda) of Bryant, Ind., and Brad of Columbus; a daughter, Julie, also of Columbus; four brothers, Bill (Tina) Bechtol, Ralph (Ginny) Bechtol, and Bob and Ron Bechtol, all of Fort Recovery; and three sisters, Rosa (Jack) Hill, Bellevue, Wash., Margarette Gibson, Portland, Ind., and Jacqueline Bechtol, Colorado Springs, Colo.
A brother, Charles Bechtol, and a sister, Mary Pyle, are deceased.
A 1965 Fort Recovery High School graduate, she was employed as a rural mail carrier with the Rossburg Post Office. She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Fort Recovery.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at the church, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating. The body will be cremated.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Dec. 6 at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Orlando Sullivan
Orlando Sullivan, 98, formerly of 401 Gas St., St. Marys, died at 12:25 a.m. Nov. 27, 2002, at Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys, where he resided.
He was born April 7, 1904, in St. Marys, to Emory and Clara Hertenstein Sullivan. On Sept. 19, 1936, he married Ruby Lee Wurster and she died Nov. 21, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, James and Ed (Sharon), both of St. Marys; a sister, Helen Moore, Decatur, Ind.; one grandson and one great-grandson.
Deceased are two brothers, Carl and George, and three sisters, LuLu Williams, Marie Schamp and Ruth Linville.
He worked at the former Crane and McMahon Spoke Works in St. Marys for many years and later retired from the city of St. Marys Street Department. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, St. Marys.
Graveside services were to be held at 11 a.m. today at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, had charge of arrangements.

Naomi Wierwille
Naomi S. Wierwille, 89, 417 S. Washington St., New Bremen, died at 8:06 p.m. Nov. 27, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 2, 1913, near Chickasaw, to Jacob and Flora Kettler King. Her first husband, Robert Cummins, is deceased. On Aug. 24, 1963, she married Harry Wierwille and he died in December 1977.
Surviving are a son, Walter (Joyce) Cummins, Franklin; a daughter, Dee (Neal) Weadock, St. Marys; two brothers, Walter (Bertha) King, Lima, and Richard (Ruth) King, Celina; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth King, Fremont, and Dorothea and Rhoda Wierwille, both of New Knoxville; five grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.
A brother, James King, and an infant sister are deceased.
She attended Liberty Special, a former one-room schoolhouse in Mercer County and graduated in 1941 as a cosmetologist from a Lima beauty school. She owned and operated Naomi's Beauty Shop in New Bremen for a number of years.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, and the Way International, New Knoxville, where she was a staff volunteer. She formerly sang in the King Quartet with other family members.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. Nik Maxson officiating. Burial will take place later on the Way International grounds.
Calling is 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Charles Bechtol Jr.
Former Fort Recovery resident Charles "Pete" Bechtol Jr., 67, 155 S. Washington St., Pennville, Ind., died Nov. 23, 2002, at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Mercer County, to Charles and Treva Smelser Bechtol.
Surviving are a son, Glenn S. of Union City, Ind.; a daughter, Laurie Haggard, Marianna, Fla.; four brothers, Bill, Bob, Tootie and Ralph, all of Fort Recovery; four sisters, Jennie Smith and Margarite Gibson, both of Portland, Ind., Rose Hill, Kirkland, Wash., and Jackie Bechtol, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a grandson.
A 1952 graduate of Fort Recovery High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion, both of Fort Recovery.
The Pennville Chapel of Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home has charge of cremation services. No funeral services or visitation are planned.

Betty Meckstroth
Betty Meckstroth, 77, 711 Dayton-Xenia Road, Xenia, formerly of Cloverleaf Road, New Knoxville, died at 10:04 p.m. Nov. 25, 2002, at Greene Memorial Hospital, Xenia.
She was born June 11, 1925, in Auglaize County, to George and Etta Brewer Roby. On Oct. 16, 1943, she married Vernon Meckstroth and he died June 9, 1987.
Surviving are a son, James (Kathy) of Wapakoneta; two daughters, Rebecca of Valdesta, Ga., and Marylou (James) Preston, Xenia; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Vernon Jr.; a daughter, Cassie; a brother, Guy Teeters; and a sister, Catherine Nelson.
A 1942 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a homemaker, she previously worked at G.C. Murphy Co. in St. Marys. She was a former board member of the Auglaize County Cancer Society, a charter member of the Mercer-Auglaize County Mental Health Association and a former member of Calvary Chapel Baptist Church, Minster.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is after noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Elliott Pottkotter
Elliott D. Pottkotter, infant son of Joseph and Marie Hemmelgarn Pottkotter, 2645 Sawmill Road, Fort Recovery, was stillborn Nov. 25, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
Surviving with the parents are a brother, Grant, and four sisters, Aimee, Paige, Claire and Natalie, all at home; the paternal grandparents, William and Virginia Pottkotter, Fort Recovery; and the maternal grandparents, Ernest and Mary Ann Hemmelgarn, St. Henry.
Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Cemetery in St. Joe, the Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating.
