Leo Boerger
Leo B. Boerger, 92, 240 Monterey Drive, Fort Loramie, died at 11:45 p.m. Nov. 24, 2002, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster, where he had been a patient five months.
He was born April 22, 1910, in Fort Loramie, to Frank and Emma Ernst Boerger. On April 22, 1936, he married Rosella J. Enneking and she survives.
Surviving are four sons, Charles (Carla), Fort Wayne, Ind., Dennis (Pat) and Donald (Pat), both of Sidney, and Melvin (Janie),Vandalia; three daughters, Betty (Roland) Bergman and Janet (Kenneth) Monnin, both of Minster, and Mary (Ray) Morton, Birmingham, Ala.; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include four brothers, Herb, McCartyville, Alfred (Louise) and Robert, both of Fort Loramie, and Ralph (Eileen), New Bremen; and four sisters, Dorothy Wolfe and Clarissa Thieman, both of Minster, Mary Francis, Russia, and Ruth (Martin) Dabbelt, New Bremen.
Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.
He retired from farming 30 years ago and had served as a McLean Township trustee and a Walkup Country Club board member. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, the Knights of Columbus and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, both of Minster.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Revs. Steven Shoup and Glen Perin officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Adeline Dabbelt
Adeline E. Dabbelt, 90, 502 N. Buckeye St., Celina, died at 9:20 p.m. Nov. 23, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 21, 1912, in Coldwater, to Herman and Elizabeth Reinders Schoen. Her first husband, William Disher, died Nov. 24, 1950. In 1970, she married Edwin Dabbelt and he died in 1987.
Surviving are two daughters, Liz (Richard) Kelly, Cincinnati, and Margaret Hoying, Columbus; a sister, Mary Romer, Coldwater; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A sister, Katherine Schoen, is deceased.
She retired from nursing at the former Otis Hospital in Celina after 25 years. She also worked at the Immaculate Conception rectory for 10 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Sodality, both of Celina, and the Ladies Sodality in Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, has charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Winnie Caldwell
Winnie B. Caldwell, 61, 1205 E. Livingston St., Celina, died at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 23, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 5, 1941, in Fonde, Ky., to William Riley and Marie Panzalee Barley Henderson. On Feb. 8, 1964, she married Jerry Caldwell and he survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, David G. (Connie) Henderson, Celina, and Steve V. (Sherrie) Henderson, Montezuma; and eight sisters, Gracie (Cletus) Parker, Betty Jean (Henry) Rodriguez, Wilma (Richard) Abels, Mary (Bob) Perry, Patricia Carol (Barry) Baucher and Sheila (Steve) Humbert, all of Celina, Patsy McJunkin, Botkins, and Dianna Gerber, Botkins.
She retired from Copeland Corp., Sidney, in 1981 after 91/2 years of service. She attended Abounding Grace Church of God in Celina and was a supporter of Trinity Broadcast Network.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Rick Brosher officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, and after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Esther Gaier
Esther V. Gaier, 91, 40 W. Main St., Fort Loramie, died at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 22, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, where she had been a patient one week.
She was born Jan. 26, 1911, in Fort Loramie, to Frank and Rose Cardo Larger. On April 28, 1931, she married August J. Gaier Sr. and he died July 1, 1978.
Surviving are seven sons, Ralph, Tom (Norma), Jack (Delores), Ted (Joanne), August Jr. (Carol), Richard (Sue) and LeRoy (Lucy), all of Fort Loramie; two daughters, Rosemary (Jim) Brussell, Fort Loramie, and Kathleen (Joseph) Brinkman, Minster; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Gaier, Sidney; 32 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Bertha Maurer, Fort Loramie, and Freda Moeller, New Bremen; and two brothers, Ralph Larger, Minster, and Raymond (Virginia) Larger, Fort Loramie.
Deceased are two sons, Bill and Carl; a daughter-in-law, Martha Gaier; a brother, a sister and two grandchildren.
She had worked as a cook at Fort Loramie Schools for 10 years. She also cooked at The Trail's and Seger's Restaurant, also of Fort Loramie. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Fort Loramie, the Fort Loramie Historical Society and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, Minster.

Dean Miller
Dean W. Miller, 76, of Spencerville, died at 10:40 p.m. Nov. 23, 2002, at his residence following a five-week illness.
He was born Dec. 8, 1925, in Allen County, to Harry F. and Zoa Hannah Emans Miller. On June 18, 1949, he married Joan E. Hawk and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dana (Donita) of Elida and Philip of Spencerville; three daughters, Cheryl (Greg) Hover, Spencerville, Theresa (Allen) Whittington, Van Wert, and Martha Stuck, Troy; a brother, the Rev. Lowell B. (Ruth) of Spencerville; a sister, Vonnie McDorman, Clayton; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Steven; three brothers, Albert, Harry Jr. and Melvin; and two sisters, Dorothy Thomas and Eloise.
He was a journeyman carman with Norfolk and Southern Railroad before retiring in 1985 following 42 years of service. He also traveled several states as a wreck master, overseeing the cleanup of train wrecks. He served in the U.S. Army's Fourth Armored Division, Eighth Tank Battalion, D Company, in Europe during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart for his injuries.
A 45-year member of Spencerville Church of the Nazarene, he served as treasurer, Sunday School superintendent, teacher and trustee. He had been a member of Spencerville Invincible Fire Company since 1952, serving several years as chief and president. He was a past member of Harry J. Reynolds Post 191 of the American Legion.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Kenneth W. Perdue and a nephew, Dan Miller, officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery with graveside rites being conducted by the American Legion and Bowersock Brothers Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, also of Spencerville.
Calling is 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The fire department will conduct services there at 8:45 p.m.

Lilas Quellhorst
Lilas M.E. Quellhorst, 89, formerly of New Bremen, died at 9:05 a.m. Nov. 23, 2002, at the St. Marys Living Center, where she resided.
She was born March 11, 1913, near New Bremen, to William and Amanda Kammen Tontrup. On Aug. 29, 1933, she married Clifford Quellhorst and he died May 22, 1965.
Surviving are a son, Kim of New Bremen; three daughters, Joan Klier, Lyons, Nancy (Arnold) Heitkamp, New Bremen, and Bonnie (William) Elsass, Anna; a brother-in-law, Dale Montgomery, Wapakoneta; four sisters-in-law, Sally and Anne Tontrup, both of New Bremen, Edna Tontrup and Alfreda Wessel, both of St. Marys; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son and daughter in infancy, a son-in-law, William Klier; four brothers, Alton, Wilbur, Richard and Louis Tontrup; two sisters, Donna Niemeyer and Mary Jane Montgomery; a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
She retired from Crown Controls Corp. in New Bremen after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, the Woodman Circle and numerous card clubs in the New Bremen area.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ada Dammeyer
Ada F. Dammeyer, 98, formerly of St. Marys, died at 5:22 p.m. Nov. 21, 2002, at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta, where she resided in recent years.
She was born June 20, 1904, near St. Marys, to Lafe and Caroline (Dohse) Moeller. On June 12, 1929, she married Leon Dammeyer and he died in October 1940.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth Rena of Cherubusco, Ind.; a daughter, Jean (Stanley) Schroer, New Bremen; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Eileen Breiner; a sister, Irene Moeller; and a brother, Paul Moeller.
She had worked at the former G.C. Murphy Store in St. Marys. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and St. Paul Capsule, both of New Bremen.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. Rick Weir officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

William Fulton
William R. Fulton, 74, 910 W. High St., St. Marys, died around 6:55 p.m. Nov. 21, 2002, while driving along County Road 33A, east of St. Marys. Death was due to a sudden heart attack.
He was born July 3, 1928, in Delphos, to Carl and Hazel Fair Fulton. On July 10, 1949, he married Izetta Ice and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Karen (David) Schmerge, Wapakoneta; and a brother, Jack (Sharon) of Defiance.
A brother, Robert William, died in infancy.
He retired from the Kroger Co. after managing the former St. Marys store. He later worked 15 years as janitor at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta. A 1946 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 323, both of St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Herb Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Berdine Secaur
Berdine Lee Secaur, 80, of Rockford, died Nov. 21, 2002, at her residence.
She was born March 1, 1922, in Celina, to Arnold F. and Emma M. Silk Pierstorff.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy (Tom) Stephenson, Rockford; a sister, Evelyn (Stanley) Hooks, Celina; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She retired from the Huffy Corp. after 20 years of service. She was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church.
Services are 7:30 p.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Mike Berne officiating.

James Endicott
James C. Endicott, 75, 315 N. Mill St., Celina, died at 1:42 a.m. Nov. 21, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Joli, Ky., to Edward and Essie Endicott. On May 2, 1948, he married Nina Martin and she survives.
Surviving are five sons, James Phillip, Jeff and Roger (Karla), all of Celina, Ray (Marge) of Fort Loramie, and Dennis (Romona) of Pineville, Ky.; three daughters, Linda, Roxie (Gary) Rasberry and Tina (Wally) Staugler, all of Celina; a brother, Walter of Springfield; three sisters, Anna Lee Giffin, Lima, Margie Gillespie, West Virginia, and Minerva of Kentucky; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Alice; five brothers, Carl, Jack, Haskel, Tom and Paul; and six sisters, Minnie, Nancy, Addie, Tina, Geneva and Pauline.
He retired from Grand Lake Mushroom Farm, Celina Lumber and Weaver Motors.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Celina.
Services are 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Dan Ramsey officiating.
