Carl Brandt
Carl L. Brandt, 94, of Rockford, died at 5:03 p.m. Dec. 15, 2000 at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
He was born Oct. 12, 1906, in Mercer County, to Otto A. and Eva R. (Wise) Brandt. On April 26, 1936, he married Mabel Morrison, who died June 9, 1991.
Survivors include a brother and his wife, Herbert and Anna of Willshire; two sisters, Berniece Shell, Convoy, and Louise Baughman, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was owner of Brandt's Drycleaning in Rockford, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Rockford Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post 508, Rockford.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Karen Long officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Finke
James Finke, 66, 200 Knoxville Ave., St. Marys, died at 9:42 a.m. Dec. 17, 2000 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Minster, to Arthur and Marcella (Wissman) Finke. On July 5, 1985, he married Alice Kay Schleeter, who survives.
Other survivors include two sons and their wives, Brent and Donna of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Matthew and Toni of St. Marys; a daughter and her husband, Stephanie and Scott Eschelman, Wapakoneta, and a daughter, Gay of Lexington, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Tammy Holliday, Jacksonville, Ala., and Teresa Crist, St. Marys; a stepson, Robert Crist, St. Marys; a brother, Richard of Celina; a half-brother, John Harlett, St. Marys; three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
He was retired as a welder from General Dynamics Corp., Lima, and was employed at Shell Gas Station in Wapakoneta. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta. He was a graduate of Hobart Welding School in Troy, and a 1952 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial is at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Michael King
Michael V. King, 45, of Cincinnati, died of natural causes Dec. 16, 2000 at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was born June 9, 1955, in Dayton, to Vernon and Helen L. (Hutchinson) King. His father survives in Celina.
Other survivors include a sister and her husband, Virginia C. and Allen Davis of South Carolina, and a sister, Eleanor I. Beilharz of Virginia; and a brother and his wife, Terry E. and Linda Worley, Huber Heights.
Deceased are his mother and a sister, Nancy Brock.
He was a lab technician for the Department of Health and Human Services.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Marker & Heller Funeral Home, Huber Heights Chapel. Burial is at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.

Fanny Oackes
Former Spencerville resident Fanny M. Oackes, 88, died at 9:45 a.m. Dec. 15, 2000 at Fox Run Manor in Findlay.
She was born April 21, 1912, in Van Wert County, to William and Hannah (Masters) Harter. On July 30, 1928, she married Charles C. Oackes, who died Aug. 21, 1977.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, June and Irven Bindel, Findlay; a son, Bill of Findlay; two sisters, Evelyn Harter, Spencerville, and Mary McCammon, Van Wert; three grandchildren, a great-grandchild and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Emery and John Harter, and a sister, Emma Forwerck.
She worked as a telephone operator in Spencerville and at Harter Meat Market, Spencerville. She worked at the Lima Tank Depot during World War II. She was a member of the former Olive Chapel United Methodist Church, Converse.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Christian F. Dittmar officiating. Burial is at Wright Cemetery near Converse.

Ralph Fireoved
Former Mendon resident Dr. Ralph Thomas Fireoved DVM, 85, died at 6 a.m. Dec. 13, 2000 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
He was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Mercer County, to Thomas George and Edna Florence (Thomas) Fireoved. On Feb. 15, 1958, he married Harriet Christensen, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Thomas; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Alan Gaveck; a sister and her husband, Ruth and Harold Buckloh, Coldwater; a brother, Wayne of Mendon; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Dale, and a brother-in-law, Harold Buckloh.
He worked for Olaf Norling-Christensen in Wilmette, Ill., and was retired from Christensens Animal Hospital. He served as Captain in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in Landsberg, Germany. He was a graduate of Ohio State University and Mendon Union High School.
The body will be cremated, and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Donald Kunkler
Donald P. Kunkler, 62, 5750 Carthagena Road, St. Henry, died following an extended illness at 2:43 a.m. Dec. 19, 2000 at his residence.
He was born March 17, 1938, in Carthagena, to Henry Sr. and Theresia (Homan) Kunkler. On Aug. 19, 1961, he married Jo Ann Bergman, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons and their wives, Ken and Sandy, and Chris and Deb, all of St. Henry, and Charlie and Carol of Fort Loramie, and three sons, Andy, Steve and Tom, all of St. Henry; five daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Jeff Muhlenkamp, Findlay, Susan and Doug Niekamp, North Star, Sarah and Doug Franck, St. Henry, Judy and Shannon Grieshop, Fort Recovery, and Nancy and Tim Mescher, Tipp City, and three daughters, Cherie of Dayton, Barbara and Donna, both of St. Henry; two brothers and their wives, Ted and Martha of St. Henry, and Henry Jr. and Ruth of Burkettsville, and a brother, Ralph of St. Henry; two sisters and their husbands, Stella and Herb Siefring, Coldwater, and Virginia and Florian Heitkamp, Celina, and a sister, Dorothy Schott, Fort Wayne, Ind.; in-laws, Herbert and Velma Bergman, Maria Stein; a sister-in-law, Evelyn of New Weston; and 23 grandchildren.
Deceased are his parents, a sister, Rosemary Olson, a brother, Fred, and a brother-in-law, Robert Schott.
He was retired from farming, and was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and its St. Lawrence Men's Society, Carthagena, and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Coldwater. He was a 1956 graduate of St. Henry High School.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

Anthony Prince
Anthony Dayle Prince, 26, died of apparent natural causes Dec. 17, 2000 at his residence at 129 Cedarhurst Drive, St. Marys.
He was born June 14, 1974, in San Diego, Calif., to Robert C. and Patricia A. (Terry) Prince, both whom survive in St. Marys. On Sept. 23, he married Cynthia M. Norton, who survives.
Other survivors include a brother and his wife, Floyd N. and Barbara of Celina; and grandparents, Arnold Dayle and Johanna Terry of St. Marys.
He was a factory laborer at Electro-Prime Inc., Toledo, and was a 1992 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim K. Wilck officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys.

August Spieler Jr.
August Joseph "Bud" Spieler Jr., 85, died at 6:18 p.m. Dec. 18, 2000 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born May 25, 1915, in Celina, to August Joseph and Bertha (Pulskamp) Spieler. He was formerly married to Catherine Knisley, who survives. His wife Louise, whom he married June 23, 1979, survives in St. Marys.
Other survivors include a son, and his wife Joe and Carolyn of New York; two sisters, Mary Kay Wilson, Boston, Mass., and Madge Niemer, Cincinnati; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a number of stepchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, David, six sisters, Betty, Eva, Rosemary, Anita, Margie and Virginia, and a brother, Luke.
He was employed and was president of Celina Stearic Acid Company, and provided accounting and tax services to local businesses and organizations. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II in the Chemical Corps. He was a member of the Republican State Central and Executive Committee of Ohio from the Fourth Congressional District, and Celina and Lima Lions clubs. He was a graduate of Miami University in 1937, a 1933 graduate of Celina Catholic High School, and attended grammar school at Immaculate Conception, Celina.
A Memorial Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. David Heinl officiating.
A luncheon will follow services at the church.

Robert Walden
Robert H. Walden, 84, 2300 Grand Haven Blvd., Troy, Mich., died at 12:10 a.m. Dec. 15, 2000 at St. John's Oakland General Hospital in Madison Heights, Mich.
He was born July 15, 1916, in Corbin, Ky., to John and Stella (Parman) Walden. On May 5, 1955, he married Dorothy Maxine Kohlhorst, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Sandra and Randy Michael, Rochester Hills, Mich.; a son, Ronald B. of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a sister, Beaulah Heath, Highland, Mich.; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Annette and Raymond Goetz, Spencerville, and Virginia and James Wierwille, Celina; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Herbert and Donna Kohlhorst, and Marlin and Martha Kohlhorst, all of St. Marys, and Leonard and Rheba Kohlhorst, Hope Hull, Ala.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a retired millwright at Ford Motor Co., Wixom, Mich., and was a member of Masonic Lodge in Fowlerville, Mich.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Private burial services will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
There will be no visitation.
Violet Linneman-Davis
Violet B. Linneman-Davis, 87, of Montezuma, died at 6:10 p.m. Dec. 19, 2000 at Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born April 26, 1913, in Ansonia, to Frank and Clara (Murray) Birt. On April 1, 1937, she married Vernon L. Linneman, who died Sept. 20, 1992.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Connie and Thomas Hoening, Fostoria; two brothers, Lovell Birt, West Jefferson, and Doyle Birt, Coldwater; two sisters, Mary K. Smalley and Patty Fleck, both of Celina; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Thelma Ott.
She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. James Dugal, C.PP.S. and Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
