Shirley Harrison
Shirley Ann Fortman Harrison, 67, 201 E. Madison St., St. Marys, died at 6:13 p.m. Dec. 15, 2002, at her residence following a nine-year battle with cancer.
She was born May 20, 1935, in St. Marys, to Leo and Hilda Evers Fortman. Her husband, John Harrison, died in 1983.
Surviving are a son, John Scott of St. Marys; two daughters, Jill Ann Lowry, Cridersville, and Tina Marie of St. Marys; a brother, Mike (Gloria) Fortman, Celina; two sisters, Betty Welch, Lexington, Ky., and Jackie (Bob) Paulus, Celina; and four grandchildren.
She was a business woman who dealt in antiques and had numerous rental properties. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 Auxiliary, both of St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David A. Heinl officiating.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Frances Jones
Frances L. Jones, 80, 606 W. Main St., New Weston, died Dec. 15, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born April 12, 1922, in Darke County, to Earl and Cora Locke Pearson. Her husband, Donald H. Jones, died in 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Jack (Nancy) of Rossburg and Scott (Kathy) of New Weston; a sister, Elizabeth Oswalt, New Weston; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Harry and Robert Pearson, are deceased.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oliver Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Duane Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Holsapple Cemetery, New Weston.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary Tebbe
Former Coldwater resident Mary M. Tebbe, 98, of Tipp City, died Dec. 16, 2002, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
She was born May 14, 1904, in St. Lawrence, S.D., to John and Mary Determan Kramer. On June 24, 1925, she married William F. Tebbe and he died Oct. 23, 1982.
Surviving are five sons, Lawrence (Rita) of Wapakoneta, Leo (Mary) of New Bremen, Donald (Margie) of Paulden, Ariz., Raymond (Marilyn) of Tipp City and Alvin (Edna) of St. Anthony; three daughters, Eunice (Jack) Tobe, Kettering, Pauline (Victor) Reinhart, Portland, Ind., and Elizabeth (James) Meyring, Ashville, N.C.; 48 grandchildren, 110 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a sister, Catherine Schwieterman, Coldwater; and three sisters-in-law, Norma Gutman, Wapakoneta, Mary Tebbe, Anna, and Louise Tebbe, Findlay.
Deceased are two brothers, Bernard and John Kramer; a sister, Anna Laux; and a grandchild.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Ann Rosary Altar Sodality, both of Coldwater; the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Anthony; and the Mercer County Senior Citizens.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

James Garrigus
James E. Garrigus, 92, Shawnee Manor Nursing Home, Lima, died at 5:05 a.m. Dec. 14, 2002, at the nursing home.
He was born Oct. 24, 1910, in Lima, to Claude M. and Lillian Burgoon Garrigus. On May 2, 1937, he married Florence E. Rihm and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, James J. (Michele) of Columbus.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was vice president of City and Loan Savings for 33 years before retiring in 1975. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima, American Legion Post 96 and Masonic Lodge Post 241, all in Celina, and Lima Kiwanis, Elks Lodge Post 54, United Commercial Travelers, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Masonic Shrine, Master High Twelve, Scottish Rite and 32nd Degree De-Molay, all of Lima.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Shawnee Chapel in Lima, the Rev. Jack Chalk and Jean Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. today.

Mabel Gebele
Mabel T. Gebele, 89, formerly of Fort Recovery, died at 1:45 a.m. Dec. 14, 2002, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Beaver County, Pa., to John and Belle McCullough Hoffman. On April 21, 1935, she married Dana Gebele and he died March 18, 1999.
Survivors are four daughters, Jeanette (Roy) Emery, Irene (Larry) Stone, Mary (Carlton) Rhoades and Jeannine Kemper, all of Fort Recovery; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen, two great-grandchildren, four brothers and a sister.
She and her husband owned and operated the former Wayne IGA in Fort Recovery. She was a 1931 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its WELCA organization of Fort Recovery.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Tamara Wood officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery in Fort Recovery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brockman and Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.

Marvin Katterhenry
Marvin K. Katterhenry, 94, 111 Hiawassee Lane, Loudon, Tenn., and former Sidney resident, died at 10:05 a.m. Dec. 14, 2002, at Fort Saunders Medical Center in Loudon.
He was born June 2, 1908, in Anna, to Benjamin and Lula Fogt Katterhenry. On July 6, 1929, he married Ruth Fogt Katterhenry, who died Nov. 22, 1991.
Survivors are a son, Bill of Loudon; a daughter, Sandra Haslinger, Akron; a sister, Ruth Baker, Sidney; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
He was vice president of Dayton Power and Light Co. in Greenville for 45 years until he retired in 1964. He was a member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Anna.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Michael Althauser and Rev. James Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders.
Calling is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Kenneth Harner
Kenneth M. Harner, 84, 305 Jon St., Mendon, died at 9:31 p.m. Dec. 14, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Aug. 13, 1918, in Celina, to Jesse and Erma Harris Harner. On Dec. 17, 1941, he married Donna L. Albright and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Barry L. (Sheryl) of Mendon; three daughters, Sauny Hone (Stan) Rockey, Loveland, Kendra Craft, Celina, and Karen Sue Murphy, Mendon; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Eldon Wayne of St. Marys, and three sisters, Mary (Elmer) Bernard, St. Henry, Joan (Vernon) Danials, Kossuth, and Patricia (Jack) Fisher, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Deceased are twin sons in infancy, six brothers, Ralph, Dwight, Fred, Bob, Tilly and Harold; and two sisters, Pauline Spence and Margaret Dietrick.
He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys, in 1973 and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Mercer County Sportsman Club and a life member of both Celina American Legion Post 210 and Spencerville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Revs. Paul Bunnell and Dean Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Lisa Hart
Lisa Marie Hart, 6-day-old daughter of Kristina Hart, 429 Lowry Road, Fort Recovery, died at 11:25 p.m. Dec. 14, 2002, at Children's Medical Center, Dayton.
She was born Dec. 9 in Coldwater.
Surviving with the mother are the grandparents, Louis and Peg Hart, Fort Recovery; and the great-grandparents, Linus and Emma Hart, also of Fort Recovery, and Armella Timmerman, Rossburg.
Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating.

Rev. Lawrence Jaekle
The Rev. Lawrence E. Jaekle, 91, 24 Catalpa Drive, Versailles, died at 2:36 a.m. Dec. 15, 2002, at the Versailles Health Care Center.
He was born July 17, 1911, in Dayton, to William Lawrence and Philamena Bock Jaekle.
Surviving is a sister, Mary Louise Marshall, Morro Bay, Calif.
Deceased are two brothers, Charles and John, and a sister, Angela Palmer.
A 1980 graduate of Chaminade High School in Dayton, he studied philosophy and theology at St. Gregory Seminary and St. Mary Seminary, both of Cincinnati. Following ordination May 26, 1938, he served at Resurrection Catholic Church, Cincinnati; St. Matthew Catholic Church, Norwood; St. Agnes Catholic Church, Dayton; and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, where he served as administrator and supervised the building of a school and the nuns' home. He later served at St. John Catholic Church in West Chester before being assigned Aug. 6, 1966, as pastor of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles He retired in July 1981 after 43 years in the priesthood.
He helped organize the Versailles Life Squad and served as board president. He also worked with the Versailles Volunteer Fire Department and was a charter member of Stillwater Golf Course near Versailles. A two-time president of the Versailles Rotary Club, he also was a trustee and past president of the Versailles Development Association, an honorary member of Antioch Shrine and the Greenville Shrine Club, a supporter of the Shrine Crippled Children's Burns Hospital Fund Drive for 15 years, former chaplain of the Annie Oakley Days, former committee member for Versailles Poultry Days and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Newport Sportsman Club and Seashore Sportsman Club of Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Versailles church, the Most Rev. Daniel E. Pilarczyk, Archbishop of Cincinnati, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
The Rev. David Vincent will officiate for the reception of the body at church at 4 p.m. Wednesday with viewing continuing there until 8 p.m.

Gregor Lochtefeld
Gregor F. Lochtefeld, 75, 8339 Ohio 274, Celina, died at 9:45 a.m. Dec. 14, 2002, at Otterbein Retirement Community, St. Marys, where he had resided the past year.
He was born Dec. 7, 1928, in Chickasaw, to Lawrence and Elizabeth Luebke Lochtefeld.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Ann (Paul) Kremer, Maria Stein; a sister-in-law, Marietta Lochtefeld, St. Henry; six nephews and three nieces.
Two brothers and two nephews are deceased.
He retired from the former New Idea in Coldwater 19 years ago. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he had been a volunteer at St. Peter Neurological Center for 15 years. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Men's Sodality, both of Chickasaw. He also was a member and past commander of the Chickasaw Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post and the Maria Stein American Legion Post.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Revs. Jose Sanchez and John Bensman officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
