Thomas Kuenning
Thomas E. Kuenning, 82, 6 Eastmoor Court, New Bremen, died at 10:55 p.m. Dec. 7, 2002, at his residence.
He was born March 5, 1920, in New Bremen, to Earl and Esther Dicke Kuenning. On May 20, 1944, he married Doris Heidgerd and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Tom Jr. (Shelley) of Reston, Va., John of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Matthew (Mary) of Champaign, Ill.; a daughter, Nancy (Harry) Wetzler, Bainbridge Island, Wash.; a sister, Erline (Robert) Campbell, Toledo; and seven grandchildren.
Two brothers, David and Robert, are deceased.
A retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, he was a decorated Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, flying anti-submarine patrols out of North Africa and serving as one of the lead strategic bomber pilots in the Pacific Theatre. Following the war, he returned to New Bremen to work with his father at the former Advance Auto Co. He returned to the Air Force in 1953, serving in the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War and flying forward air supply in Vietnam.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1969, he returned to New Bremen and worked for Riggs Food Express and later for First National Bank. He served on New Bremen Village Council, was a life member of American Legion Post 241 and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, both of New Bremen.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. Richard Weir and John Tostrick officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church auditorium.

Raymond Schwieterman
Raymond Joseph Schwieterman, 90, formerly of 128 Dull Road, St. Henry, died Dec. 7, 2002, at The Gardens at St. Henry, where he had been a resident since Sept. 11, 2001.
He was born Aug. 22, 1912, in St. Sebastian, to Charles H. and Caroline Will Schwieterman. On June 12, 1937, he married Bertha R. Bruening and she died April 16, 1992.
Surviving are a son, Gary (Kathy) of Celina; two daughters, Carol (Bernard) Bergman, St. Henry, and Janet (Jerry) Schmackers, Maria Stein; a brother-in-law, Arthur (Bertha) Bruening, Yorkshire; a sister-in-law, Marie (Robert) Gariety, Russia; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Julius, Xavier and Charles, and six sisters, Mary, Cecilia (William) Forsthoefel, Regina (John) Huwer, Alvina (Ernest) Bruns, Elizabeth (Lee) Falke and Alma (Roman) Knapke.
He retired from farming and The United Grain Co., having worked at the Yorkshire elevator until it was destroyed by fire in August 1968 and then at the Montezuma elevator until he retired in 1977. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the Men's Society, both of Burkettsville.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
Inez Stedke
Mercer County native Inez Stedke, 88, of Lima, died at 6:20 p.m. Dec. 6, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born July 23, 1914, in Mercer County, to J. William and Ona Alice Johnson Regedanz. Her husband, Frank E. Stedke, died in 1966.
Surviving are three sons, John (Janice) and Richard, all of Lima, and James (Marlene) of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Barbara (Milton) Schutz, Pandora; a brother, Glenn Regedanz, Lima; two sisters, Bernice (Richard) Roessner, Coldwater, and Dorothy (Don) Pruit, Covington, Ky.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Clifford, Forest, Eugene and Leon Regedanz; and a great-grandson.
She had served as treasurer and office manager at Stedke Construction Co. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Soroptimist Club.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chiles & Sons - Laman Shawnee Chapel, Lima, the Rev. Paul Gruetter officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gerald Huber
Gerald "Smokey" Huber, 66, 6803 Ohio 274, St. Sebastian, died at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 5, 2002, at his home.
He was born June 10, 1936, in Dayton, to Urban and Marian Moeller Huber. His mother survives in Coldwater. On Nov. 7, 1956, he married Joan Schwieterman, who also survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Jerry (Renee) of Tipp City, and Jay (Joyce) of Maria Stein; four daughters, Ann (Mike) Evers, St. Henry, Jane (Tim) Miller, Bryant, Ind., Jennifer (Ted) Ripploh, Minster, and Amy (Steve) Schmitz, Fort Recovery; a brother, Don (Marlene) of McCartyville; four sisters, Sister Lillian of Cincinnati, Velma (Paul) Billerman, Celina, Phyllis (Denny) Stachler, Burkettsville, and Alice Thieman, Rockford; a sister-in-law, Norma of Celina; and 15 grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Myron.
He retired from Huffy Corp. of Celina, and was currently employed at Chickasaw Quik Stop. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, the Marion Local Athletic Boosters and the Chickasaw Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a former volunteer firefighter for the Chickasaw Fire Department, and a former member of the Moulton Merchants and the Chickasaw Indians fast-pitch softball team.
Funeral Mass is 2:30 p.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday and 1-2 p.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Wanda Hughes
Wanda G. Hughes, 87, 419 N. Holly St., Apt. 4, Willshire, died at 8:40 a.m. Dec. 5, 2002, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Nov. 23, 1915, in Wells County, Ind., to Clark E. and E. Florence Skinner Chupp. On March 10, 1935, she married Robert Wheeler who died in October 1936. On Oct. 6, 1938, she married the Rev. H. Paul Hughes and he died May 17, 1988.
Survivors are a son, Larry (Rosalie) of Rockford; two daughters, Anita (Albert) Fleming, Celina, and Judith (David) Fleming, Dayton; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a step-great-grandchild and a great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are two sisters, Mildred Bair and Marguerite Odier; two brothers, Forest and Roy Chupp (infant); and a great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker and librarian at Willshire Library for 7 1/2 years. She was a member of Willshire United Brethren in Christ Church where she served as a pianist and organist for 20 years, a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer for 11 years.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Ind. Burial is at Willshire Cemetery.
Calling is noon-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Marjorie Gault
Foremer Celina resident Marjorie J. Gault, 85, of Brownsville, Ind., died Dec. 4, 2002, at Heritage House Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Connersville, Ind., where she had resided since June.
She was born Dec. 7, 1916, in Fayette County, to James Daniel and Nellie May Grubb Sherwood. On April 15, 1938, she married Robert Gault and he died June 19, 1981.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Melody) of Brownsville; and two grandsons.
Deceased are a brother, Art R. Sherwood, and three sisters, Ruth Maze, Wilma E. Faber and Mildred Vaughn.
She attended school in Fayette County and spent 12 years in Celina, where she worked in the dietary department at Otis Hospital. She was a member of Brownsville United Methodist Church since 1971, a member of the United Methodist Women for many years and a longtime member of the Waterloo Home Economics Extension Group.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Mark Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Brumfiel Cemetery near Nulltown, Ind.

Eugene Gottschalk
Eugene Gottschalk, 71, 2100 Celina Road, St. Marys, died at 6:58 p.m. Dec. 4, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 16, 1931, in St. Marys, to William and Grace Moorman Gottschalk. On June 19, 1955, he married Maxine Howell and she died Sept. 16, 1993.
Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey (Janet) of Minster, Timothy (Julie) of Independence, Ky., and Craig (Kendra) of St. Marys; two daughters, Pamela (Michael) Matejovsky, Dayton, and Karen (Robert) Voisard, Cincinnati; a brother, Larry of St. Marys; and 13 grandchildren.
He was a 1949 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He owned Gottschalk Television in St. Marys for many years and drove truck for Kirk Nationalease Co. until retirement.
He formerly served on the St. Marys Planning Commission and was past president of the St. Marys Jaycees. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 323 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, all of St. Marys.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, with military rites conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. The American Legion will conduct a memorial service there at 7 p.m.

Della Reier
Della Mae Reier, 72, 07249 Doering Road, Wapakoneta, died at 7:20 p.m. Dec. 2, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born June 22, 1930, in Lima, to Marion and Mildred Verbryke Bowersock. On Dec. 2, 1950, she married Albert Reier and he survives.
Also surviving are a son, Timothy (Nancy) of St. Marys; three daughters, Jeanne (Kelly) Michael and Peggy (Tim) Wale, both of St. Marys, and Vicki (Michael) Wartner, South Vienna; a brother, Gayle Bowersock, Lima; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and two stepgrandchildren.
A 1948 graduate of Lima South High School and a 1973 graduate of Miami University, she taught seventh- and eighth-grade social studies and English for 30 years at Holy Rosary School in St. Marys, where she also coached volleyball and kickball and directed numerous plays. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Glynnwood, and former president of the Women's Bowling Association in St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Oscar Seger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Glynnwood.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Joann Schwarck
Joann Schwarck, 62, 202 E. German St., New Knoxville, died suddenly Dec. 3, 2002, at her residence of an apparent heart attack.
She was born Aug. 8, 1940, in Auglaize County, to Raymond and Marguerite Athmer Warner. Her mother survives in New Bremen. On Oct. 25, 1958, she married Larry Schwarck and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David (Poncheena) of New Knoxville and Dennis (Kathy) of St. Marys; two daughters, Lori J. Drexler and Lisa (David) Williams, both of New Bremen; a sister-in-law, Ruth Warner, Oxnard, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
A brother, Donald Warner, is deceased.
She was a 1958 graduate of New Bremen High School and an Avon representative. She also cleaned commercial businesses, including Fifth Third Bank and New Knoxville Supply Co., and tailored clothing for area residents. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.

Robert Isenbarger
Former Celina resident Robert H. Isenbarger, 71, died Nov. 30, 2002, at Belle Manor Nursing Home, New Carlisle, following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Dayton.
Surviving with Marcella, his wife of 46 years, are four sons, Dan (Arlene), Larry (Chris), Tony, and Michael (Renee); a daughter, Laura (Dean) Twehues; a brother, Gerald Tebics; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He attended Wilbur Wright High School and later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Delco Moraine and Carpenters Union Local 104. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Avenue Christian Church, New Carlisle.
At his request, the body was donated to the Wright State University School of Medicine.
