Evelyn McCain
Mendon native Evelyn M. McCain, 87, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Lima and Cridersville, died at 4:40 a.m. Dec. 29, 2003, at Sun Health Hospice, Peoria, Ariz.
She was born March 24, 1916, in Mendon, to Charles and Clara Sowers Snyder. On Nov. 21, 1936, she married Lloyd A. McCain who died Sept. 12, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Charles A. of Sun City; a daughter, Ann (David) Yoakam, Cridersville; a half brother, Dean Snyder, Celina; two half sisters, Floy Whetstone, St. Marys, and Kathryn Harner, Mendon; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Marie Bennett, and a half brother, Carl E. Snyder.
She was a homemaker and the co-owner of McCain Industries, a recreational vehicle manufacturer.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, the Rev. David Johns officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
There is no visitation.

Warren Neely
Warren Leslie Neely, 55, of Rockford, died at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 27, 2003, in Orient.
He was born Feb. 17, 1948, in Akron, to Lloyd and Ruth Medley Neely. On June 9, 2002, he married Leola Bienz (Reedy) who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Chris, at home, and Timothy Paterson, address unknown; and four brothers, John of Kentucky, Lyle of Washington, Earl and Jeff, both of Florida.
He was a nursing practitioner and a minister. He attended New Horizon Church, Rockford.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Robert Loar officiating.
Calling is after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Victor Overman
Victor H. Overman, 78, formerly of 681 Grove Lane, St. Marys, died at 7:50 p.m. Dec. 29, 2003, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
He was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Maria Stein, to William and Mary Jane Buening Overman. On Aug. 7, 1948, he married Margaret Dietz who died Nov. 24, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Victor (Barbara) and David (Eva), all of St. Marys; four daughters, Patricia Kiefer, Sandy Bechtol and Nancy Overman, all of St. Marys, and Sharon (Donald) White, Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, LeRoy of Fort Loramie, and Eugene (Mary Ann) of Minster; three sisters, Irene Lallemand, Dayton, Evelyn Eiting, Minster, and Joann (Walter) Vondenhuevel, New Bremen; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Robert Kiefer; a brother, Edgar; and a grandchild.
He retired from Minster Machine Co., where he had been a machinist for 41 years. He served with the U.S. Army as part of the Japan occupation forces and was a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, St. Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, American Legion Post 323 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, all of St. Marys, and the Minster Machine 25 Year Club.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Leo Hoying officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, where a veterans service is set at 7:30 p.m.

Harley Sharp
Harley T. "Ted" Sharp, 63, of Fairborn, died Dec. 29, 2003, at his residence.
He was born June 16, 1940, to James and Elsie Sharp.
Surviving with Helen M., his wife of 44 years, are three sons, Jim (Debbie) of Michigan, John (Debbie) of Huber Heights, and Gary (Michelle) of Celina; a daughter, Shelly (Kevin) Beculheimer, Fairborn; four sisters, Mary Alice Willis, Emily Louise Webb, Betty Jane Foust and Sue Cartwright; and nine grandchildren.
He was a master craftsman in woodworking and a member of Teamsters Union Local 114.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Friday at Morris Sons Funeral Home, Fairborn, the Rev. Charles Lang officiating. Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery.
Calling is after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Michaela Thomas-Berry
Celina native Michaela F. Thomas-Bery, 36, 1007 Stimple Road, Columbus, died around 11 a.m. Dec. 29, 2003, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Death was due to complications of kidney failure.
She was born Sept, 26, 1967, in Celina. Her father, James E. Thomas, survives in Celina and her mother, Juanita Lopez, lives in Piqua. On Sept. 23, 1988, she married Darrell D. Berry who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Elijah B., 8, and two daughters, Ciara D., 17, and Olivia P., 11, all of Columbus; four brothers, James A. (Kathy) Thomas, Accokeek, Md., Patrick C. (Debbie) Thomas, Stewart, Jon P. (Becky) Thomas, Wadsworth, and Michael (Crystal) Thomas, Upper Marlboro, Md.; and five sisters, Pamela (James) Carr, Tina (Roy) Lichtieg, Mary (Matt) Fortkamp and Deliha (Corey) Kremer, all of Celina, and Becky (Paul) McMahon, Elkhart, Ind.
Two sisters, Geraldine and Roxanne Thomas, died in infancy.
She had worked at Godman & Guild and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbus.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Msgr. Anthony Missimi officiating.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Friday at Southwick-Good & Fortkamp Funeral Home, Columbus. A 7 p.m. prayer service is planned.

Richard Daum
Richard Daum, 79, formerly of 8250 Ohio 703, Celina, died at 6:10 a.m. Dec. 29, 2003, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born May 11, 1924, in Sidney, to Oswald and Edith Rhodes Daum.
Surviving are a brother, Martin of Wapakoneta, and a sister-in-law, Irene Daum, St. Marys.
Deceased are his stepmother, Marjorie Daum, and a brother, Robert.
He had worked at Friends Office Supply in Wapakoneta and served in the U.S. Army in Africa and Italy during World War II. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Wapakoneta.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Calling is after noon today at the funeral home.

Virginia Houts
Virginia L. Houts, 70, 100 W. Spring St., St. Marys, died at 5 a.m. Dec. 29, 2003, in the emergency room at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Sept. 14, 1933, in St. Marys, to Harry and Iva Reveale Houts.
Surviving are two sons, Nick (Yvonne) of Celina and Chuck of St. Marys; two brothers, Richard (June) of Wapakoneta and Charles of St. Marys; and eight grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Orville and Vernon, and two sisters, Clara Neely and Sharon Thompson.
She was a homemaker and a childcare provider.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Paul Caffee
Mercer County native Paul Eugene Caffee, 87, 3039 East 900 South, Geneva, Ind., died at 12:40 p.m. Dec. 27, 2003, at Swiss Village Retirement Center, Berne, Ind.
He was born July 15, 1916, in Mercer County, to John Howard and Caroline Miller Caffee. On Sept. 21, 1938, he married Deloris M. Branstetter who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dennis (Rebecca) of Geneva and Robert L. (Margaret Sue) of Berne, Ind.; a daughter, Judith Kay (Philip) Baumgartner, Mansfield; a brother, Donald (Rosemary) of Willshire; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Dale and Vernon; a sister, Ferne Stetler; and a grandchild.
He was engaged in farming in Mercer County and Adams County, Ind., prior to retirement and was a member of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He graduated from Willshire High School and was a member of Zion Luthern Church, Chattanooga.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, Geneva, the Rev. Randy Swanson officiating. Burial will follow at M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Zion Women of the church.

Shirley Goettemoeller
Shirley M. Goettemoeller, 70, 1369 Ohio 705, Fort Loramie, died at 3 a.m. today, Dec. 29, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 6, 1933, in Fort Loramie, to Clem and Ida Bruns Poeppelman. On April 18, 1953, she married Ivo Goettemoeller who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Russell (Rene) of Fort Loramie; three daughters, Debra (Kenneth) Ernst, Fort Loramie, Lynn (Charlie) Ognibene, Santa Anna, Calif., and Lori (Dale) Walker, Troy; six sisters, Delores (Vernon) Meyer, Betty (Vernon) Hoying and Edith Pleiman, all of Fort Loramie, Irma Hoying, Minster, Mary Lou (Ron) Oldiges, Beavercreek, and Joan (Bill) Schwieterman, Coldwater; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Poeppelman, Egypt; and 14 grandchildren.
A brother, Clem Poeppelman, is deceased.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, all of Fort Loramie, and the auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, Minster.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Contributions can be made to the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad.

Edward Luebke
Former Osgood resident Edward F. Luebke, 85, of Kettering, died Dec. 27, 2003, at Kettering Medical Center.
He was born June 15, 1918, to Henry and Clara Overman Luebke.
Surviving with his wife, Thelma, are two sons, John and James; two daughters, Carol (Harold) Coy and Kathleen; a brother, Herbert; two sisters, Eleanor Dininger and Mary Grieshop; and six grandchildren.
He retired from General Motors after more than 30 years of service and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Kettering, the Moraine Senior Citizens and Osgood American Legion Post.
Funeral Mass is noon Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, Kettering.
