Loretta Heuker
Loretta C. Heuker, 95, formerly of St. Wendelin, died at 6:35 a.m. Feb. 2, 2002 at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Feb. 7, 1906, in Fort Recovery, to Peter and Margaret (Lieser) Rammel. On June 14, 1927, she married Henry C. Heuker and he died April 19, 1956.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Harold and Eileen of Minster and Edwin and Suzanne of Selma, Ala.; four daughters and their husbands, Marie and Don Brunswick and Helen and Bob Smith, all of Fort Recovery, Marcella and Virgil Stammen, New Weston, and Hilda and Norman Alig, St. Anthony; a daughter-in-law, Susanna Heuker, Botkins; two sisters-in-law, Alvina Rammel, Fort Recovery, and Clara Rammel, Dayton; 49 grandchildren, 116 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four sons, John, Charles, Donald and Joseph; seven brothers, Fred, Aloys, Lawrence, Adolph, Henry, Othmar and Paul Rammel; six sisters, Barbara Braun, Teresa Eckstein, Frances Timmerman, Marie Broeker, Cecelia and Rita Rammel; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the St. Wendelin Catholic Church, the Altar Sodality of the church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Coldwater.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Mildred Sarka
Mildred C. Sarka, 94, died at 3 a.m. Feb. 4, 2002 at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville where she was a resident.
She was born June 8, 1907, to George and Maude R. (Purdy) Becker. On July 1, 1944, she married Earl L. "Fud" Sarka, who died May 20, 1976.
Survivors are a brother and his wife, Dr. Dwight L. and Mary K. Becker, Lima; two nephews and a niece.
She worked 45 years as a teacher, elementary school principal and guidance counselor at Spencerville schools after earning her teaching certificate at Ohio Northern University in Ada and a master's degree from Ohio State University in Columbus. She was a member of Spencerville United Church of Christ, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, organist and pianist and church board member. She volunteered her time to the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a past Worthy Matron of Spencerville Chapter 130, Order of Eastern Star. She was honored in 1978 as the Spencerville Citizen of the Year.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Church of Christ in Spencerville, the Rev. Ronald L. Shifley officiating. Burial is at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Order of Eastern Star services will be conducted at 8 p.m.

Steve Goetzinger
Steve L. Goetzinger, 54, 751 Deford St., Lot 160, Celina, died at midnight Feb. 5, 2002 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Maryland. First married to Joyce Dawson, he married Ginger Gray in 1980 and she died in 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Steven Goetzinger, Maryland, and James Gray, Celina; three daughters, Jennifer Gray, Veronica Valdez and Violet Valdez, all of Celina; a stepson, Dereck Gray, Celina; two stepdaughters, Tammy Mowery and Tonnia Holbrook, Celina; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Tim and Betsy Gray and Jack Jr. and Diane Gray, and three brothers-in-law, Marc, Scott and John Gray, all of Celina; a sister-in-law, Lisa Kidder, Celina; and a mother-in-law, Wilma Gray, also of Celina.
Deceased are a stepson, Darin Gray; a father-in-law, Jack Gray; and a brother-in-law, Jeff Gray.
He was employed by the Miller House and Amanda House in Celina, Lima and Findlay. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, Celina.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Alvin Rammel
Alvin W. Rammel, 84, of St. Marys, formerly of Trotwood, died at 11:55 a.m. Feb. 5, 2002 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Nov. 25, 1917, in Sharpsburg, to George and Rosa (Klenke) Rammel. On April 21, 1945, he married Irma Severt and she survives in St. Marys.
Also surviving are a son, Ronald of St. Marys; a daughter and her husband, Joyce and James Heuker, Englewood; two brothers, Herbert of Phillipsburg and Frederick of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Mary Jean Werling, Celina, and Helen Aisenbrey, Fort Recovery; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers and two sisters.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, and a U.S. Army veteran, serving overseas as staff sergeant for 32 months during World War II. He had been a self-employed paint contractor in the Dayton area for 28 years.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial will be at Royal Oak Cemetery, Brookville.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Jean Rawers
Jean M. Rawers, 89, 605 N. Buckeye Ave., Celina, died at 2:45 p.m. Feb. 4, 2002 at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, Ill.
She was born June 17, 1912, in Mendon, to Walter H. and Emma (Heath) Murlin. On Aug. 8, 1934, she married Dr. A.J. Rawers and he died Jan. 23, 1973.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Shirley and Stan Larimer, Lake Forest; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Walter E. Murlin, and a half brother, Sam Winger.
She was the retired local registrar of vital statistics for the Mercer County Health Department. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and Shakespeare Club, all of Celina.
Graveside services are 3:30 p.m. Saturday at North Grove Cemetery, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating.
Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, has charge of arrangements. There is no visitation.
Lorraine Fleming
Lorraine A. Fleming, 84, of Rockford, died at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 6, 2002 at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born May 29, 1917, in Mercer County, to Otto B. and Leona (Pierstorff) Frahm. On June 22, 1938, she married Ivan Fleming and he died May 29, 1995.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Dale and Natalie of York, Pa.; three daughters and their husbands, Rosalie and Larry Hughes, Rockford, Sharon and James Myers, Lima, and Janet and Rex Emans, Mendon; a brother and his wife, Bernard and Marjorie Frahm, Celina; a brother-in-law and his wife, Norman and Helen Fleming, Rockford; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Suhr, Bryant, Ind.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Marlene Suhr.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township, where she was a member of the women's organization and a former Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was a member of the Town & Country Garden Club and Shane's Crossing Historical Society, both of Rockford, Mercer County Farm Bureau and the Chattanooga Senior Citizens.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Arvid Harklau officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Elsie Hughes
Elsie Louise Hughes, 95, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 4, 2002 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born Aug. 30, 1906, in Pulaski County, Ind., to former Mercer County residents William C. and Bessie L. (Heater) Goodpaster. Her husband, Charles Lester Hughes, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, James T. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Norman K. of Fort Wayne; a daughter, C. Grenzenbach, also of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, two brothers and seven sisters.
She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, Fort Wayne.
Services were 11 a.m. today at the church with burial to follow at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
