June Williams
June D. Williams, 74, 117 E. Broadway St., Fort Recovery, died at 2:10 p.m. Feb. 11, 2002 at Community Hospital, Coldwater, following an extended illness.
She was born June 15, 1927, in Columbus, Ind., to Benjamin and Georgia (Lloyd) Kinney. On Aug. 8, 1945, she married John Williams and he died Aug. 19, 1995.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Roger O. and Twila of Richmond, Ind.; a sister, Ruby Peters, Buena Vista, Ind.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers and three sisters.
She retired from Visteon Systems of Connersville, Ind., and was a member of First Church of Christ, Fort Recovery.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, with David Napier and Leonard Wilfong officiating. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. today and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Gretchen Brown
Gretchen O. Brown, 30, 525 Garden Road, Columbus, formerly of Celina, died at 11 a.m. Feb. 12, 2002 at Riverside Hospital, Columbus. Death was due to injuries she sustained in a traffic accident the previous day.
She was born July 29, 1971, in Columbus. Her mother and stepfather, James and Joan (Essex) Reed, survive in Celina.
Also surviving are a brother, Spencer Brown III, Hilliard; a stepbrother and his wife, James II and Deborah Reed, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa; and her maternal grandmother, Norma Essex Elsasser, Celina.
Deceased is a grandfather, John Essex.
She was a law student at Capitol University, Columbus, and had served as a hospital corpsman with the U.S. Navy in Long Beach, Calif. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will be at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is noon until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Wilford Herkenhoff
Wilford J. "Bud" Herkenhoff, 92, a resident of Otterbein St. Marys for the past year and a former resident of 195 Stallo Road, Minster, died at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 12, 2002 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He had been a patient there nine days.
He was born Oct. 7, 1909, in Minster, to Charles and Bernadine (Meyer) Herkenhoff. On June 18, 1935, he married Mary E. Rulmann and she survives at Otterbein.
Also surviving are a daughter and her husband, Mary Jo and Dan Dunlap, Minster; and two grandsons.
Deceased are a brother and four sisters.
He was a retired personnel director and a member of the board of directors at Minster Machine Co. He had previously worked at Wooden Shoe Brewery in Minster. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the medical corps in the European Theatre.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Orphan Society of the church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, all of Minster. He was a former member of the church choir and a former member of the board of directors of Minster State Bank.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmidt officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and 9-9:30 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Thomas Mayes Sr.
Thomas S. Mayes Sr., 53, of Venedocia, died at 6:35 a.m. Feb. 13, 2002 at his residence. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born July 21, 1948, in Middlesboro, Ky., to George R. and Ethel B. (Marsee) Mayes. On Nov. 22, 1967, he married Susan E. Burnett and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Thomas S. Jr. and Tina and Timothy S. and Jodi, all of Van Wert; a daughter and her husband, Audrey B. and Ethan Cutler, Cleveland Heights; three brothers and their wives, Clifford and Betty and Joe and Sharon, all of Celina, and Harvey and Jean of New Haven, Ind.; a sister and her husband, Otsie and Charles Wilcox, Mount Vernon, Ill., and a sister, Evelyn Dennis, St. Marys; and four granddaughters.
Deceased is a brother, Richard T.
He graduated from Celina High School in 1967 and attended Ohio Northern University. He retired from National Seal Corp. Federal Mogul and was a member of the Christian Life Center in Van Wert.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Venedocia Cemetery, the Rev. Scott E. Fleming officiating.
Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, has charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Andrew Goecke
Maria Stein native Andrew J. Goecke, 83, Livonia, Mich., died Feb. 13, 2002, at St. Marys Hospital in Livonia.
He was born June 29, 1918, in Maria Stein, to Fred and Frances (Albers) Goecke. His wife, Marie, is deceased.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Jerry and Pat and Ron and Dyan, all of Livonia; a brother and his wife, Louis and Madonna, Maria Stein; a sister, Dorothy Gavit, North Star; and three grandchildren.
He was a retired tool and die maker.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday at St. Aidan Catholic Church, Livonia. Burial is at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Livonia.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, Livonia, and after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. A scripture service is planned at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ralph Harner
Ralph E. Harner, 80, 117 Concord Ave., St. Marys, died at 5:50 a.m. Feb. 15, 2002 at Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Mercer County, to Jess and Erma (Harris) Harner. On Nov. 20, 1944, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Picker, who survives at home.
Survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Allan Finke, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Susan and John Trentman, Newark; a son and his wife, Larry and Deanna, Union City, Tenn.; a son, Daniel, of Geneva; two brothers, Kenneth, of Mendon and Eldon, of St. Marys; three sisters; JoAnn Daniels, Kossuth, Mary Lou Bernard, St. Henry, Pat Fisher, Fort Wayne, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Carol Jean Harner; five brothers, Dwight, Harold, Bob, Fred, and Bill; and two sisters, Margaret and Pauline Harner.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, where he had worked for 36 years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys. He was a member of the American Legion Post 210, Celina, and was a Golden Eagle member of Aerie 767, St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial is at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys.

Isaac Mallory
Isaac Thomas Mallory, stillborn, died at 10:43 a.m. Feb. 15, 2002 at Community Hospital in Coldwater.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Tara Robin Mallory of Celina.
Survivors are his grandparents, Ed and Sherry Tobin, Celina, Deloras and Tom Rish, Kenton, and Denny and Robin Mallory.
He was a member of New Life Christian Center in Celina.
Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Burge Cemetery in Montezuma, the Rev. William Lewis officiating. Burial will follow.
A memorial service will be held at the church at 2 p.m. Sunday. Arrangements are being handled by Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.
