Gary Schmieder
Gary C. Schmieder, 60, 604 Fox St., New Bremen, died at 8:33 p.m. Feb. 14, 2002 in the emergency room of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born Sept. 26, 1941, in Minster, to Kermit and Katherine (Bambaurer) Schmieder.
Survivors are his mother in New Bremen; a son, Brian Schmieder of New Bremen; a sister and her husband, Kathy and Dan Nedderman, New Bremen; and two grandchildren.
He was retired from Copeland Corp., Sidney.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Calling is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Patricia Dorsten
Patricia A. Dorsten, 68, 710 Devonshire Drive, Celina, died at 5:23 p.m. Feb. 17, 2002 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born April 11, 1933, in Rossburg, to Alfred M. and Viola E. (Zahn) Stammen. On Oct. 1, 1955, she married Roger Dorsten and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Ron and Cassie, and a son, Jeffrey, all of Celina; two daughters and their husbands, Jane and Steve Gerlach, Coldwater, and Kelley and Andy Wolfe, Barnhart, Mo., and two daughters, Peggy and Kimberly, both of Celina; three brothers and their wives, Orville and Teri Stammen, Massachusetts, James and Brenda Stammen, Coldwater, and Charles and Denise Stammen, Celina; five sisters and their husbands, Della and Art Gerlach, St. Henry; Barbara and Herman Sherman, Lima, Margaret and Eldon Moorman, Celina, Shirley and Paul Kelch, New Weston, and Judy and Dale Fenning, Celina; a sister-in-law, Margaret Stammen, Celina; and nine grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Walter Stammen, and a grandchild.
She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Mary Ann Figel
Mary Ann Figel, 57, 327 N. Pine St., St. Marys, died at 9:05 p.m. Feb. 15, 2002 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, following an extended illness.
She was born May 27, 1944, in Lima, to Rolland and Mary (Sholler) Gallimore. Her mother survives in St. Marys.
Also surviving are her fiance, Robert Lutz, St. Marys; three sons, Doug Thornsberry, Celina, Dennis Thornsberry, Lakeview, and Darin Figel, Van Wert; two daughters, Tamme L. Posada, St. Marys, and Tori Thornsberry, Coldwater; four brothers, Mike Gallimore, Marysville, Tenn., Gary Gallimore, Spencerville, Terry and Steve Gallimore, St. Marys; three sisters, Diane Behm, Donna Gallimore and Stacey Klingler, all of St. Marys; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Larry Gallimore, and a grandson.
She retired from Huffy Manufacturing Co. in Celina after 32 years. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 767 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 9289, both of St. Marys, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, Celina, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Lima.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Eagles Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service there at 7 p.m.
Ralph Grilliot
Ralph C. Grilliot, 84, 627 E. Ward St., Versailles, died at 3:30 a.m. Feb. 17, 2002 at his residence.
He was born March 28, 1917, in Yorkshire, to Clarence and Elizabeth (Frantz) Grilliot. On Oct. 24, 1942, he married Alma M. Bruns and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Richard and Shirley of Ansonia and Roger and Sandy of Versailles; two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Lorys Bohman, Osgood, and Diane and Ralph Kunk, Russia; seven brothers, Robert of Versailles, Louis of Orlando, Fla., Paul of Delphos, Elmer of Yorkshire, Carl of Lake Worth, Fla., Fred of Unadilla, Ga., and Clarence Jr. of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; six sisters, Evelyn Hull and June Schlarman, both of Osgood, Patricia Harlett, Grand Rapids, Mich., Kate Simons, Versailles; Mildred Goodell, North Carolina, and Helena Bruns, Tipp City; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Omer, Edward and Martin, and a sister, Marjorie Kremer.
He was a farmer, a 60-year member of the Knights of Columbus, Versailles, a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, Minster, the National Farmers Organization and the National Farmers Union. He was a former member of the Dixie Twirlers and a former choir member at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Versailles church, the Rev. Leo A. Hoying officiating. Burial will be at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
Calling is 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles. The K of C will hold a rosary service there at 7:30 p.m.

Joseph Ricard
Joseph D. Ricard, 34, 2712 Boxwood Drive, Toledo, formerly of St. Marys, died Feb. 14, 2002 at his residence. Death was due to an apparent suicide, according to law enforcement authorities in Lucas County. He reportedly shot himself and was found by a family member.
He was born Sept. 5, 1967, in Van Wert, to Donald and Charlotte (Smalley) Ricard. They survive in St. Marys. On July 4, 1998, he married Regina Zeller and she survives.
Also surviving are two children, Robert and Samantha, at home; two brothers and their wives, Andrew and Lynne of Mount Vernon and Jon and Nan of Springboro; two sisters and their husbands, Rachel and Doug Hertenstein and Sarah and Scot Hunter, all of St. Marys; a maternal grandmother, Mary Smalley, Celina; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Sherrie Zeller, Toledo; and a brother-in-law, Daniel Zeller, Toledo.
He was a 1985 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys, and a graduate of Hocking Technical College and Wright State University. He was employed by the Boy Scouts of America in Toledo and formerly worked at Home Depot in Toledo. He was a taxidermist and attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Toledo.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Marilynn Schroeder officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

Berneice Bell
Berneice Bell, 78, 6853 Ohio 219, Montezuma, died Feb. 16, 2002 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Mercer County, to John and Viola (Cook) Dorsten. On May 21, 1960, she married Harry S. Bell and he died May 11, 1985.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Kevin and Kimberly of Montezuma; a brother and his wife, Evart and Ruth Dorsten, Montezuma; a sister, Carolyn Staugler, Montezuma; and five grandchildren.
She had worked at Oral Surgery & Associates and Wal-Mart in Celina. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Christian Mother's Sodality, both of Montezuma, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the Loyal Order of Moose, both of Celina.
Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Carl Wise officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, has charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation prior to the Mass.

Emily Brackman
Emily B. Brackman, 92, formerly of 14785 Mendenhall Road, Yorkshire, died at 5:40 p.m. Feb. 17, 2002 at Versailles Health Care Center, where she had resided the past six years.
She was born Oct. 4, 1909, in Fort Loramie, to John and Anna (Meyer) Holthaus. On June 1, 1932, she married William J. Brackman and he died June 19, 1994.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Vernon and Ruth of Cassella, Eugene and Barbara of Vandalia, and Paul and Valerie of DeBary, Fla.; three daughters and their husbands, Pauline and James Barga, Rossburg, Norma and Donald Purcell, Potomic, Md., and Janice and Delbert Dirksen, Frenchtown; a daughter-in-law, Janie Brackman, Fruitland Park, Fla.; a brother and his wife, Urban and Leona Holthaus, Fort Loramie; a sister and her husband, Alvina and Leonard Peltier, Russia, and a sister, Loretta Everman, Sidney; two sisters-in-law, Marietta Holthaus and Rita Holthaus, both of Fort Loramie; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Donald; two brothers, a sister and three grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, and the Ladies Sodality of the church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
