William Hopf
William A. Hopf, 78, of Huntingburg, Ind., the father of a Celina man, died at 9:02 a.m. Feb. 20, 2002 at Dunn Memorial Hospital, Bedford, Ind.
He was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Duff, Ind., to Tony M. and Agnes (Mehringer) Hopf. On April 22, 1950, he married Helen C. Oeding and she survives.
Also surviving are seven sons, Stephen of Celina, David J. and Kevin R. of Schnellville, Ind., John R. and Marvin J. of Huntingburg, and Thomas E. and Keith B. of St. Anthony, Ind.; five daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Ralph Miller and Kathleen and Gary Hochgesang, all of St. Anthony, Ind., Bonnie and Michael Hochgesang, Jasper, Ind., and Linda and Rick Lichlyter and Beth and Tom Hollinden, all of Huntingburg, and one daughter, Mary of Holland, Ind.; three brothers, Edwin and Daniel, both of Huntingburg, and Frederick of Pikeville, Ky.; a sister, Alice Betz of Schnellville; and 31 grandchildren.
Four brothers, Jerome, Emil, Urban and Rufus are deceased.
He was a retired farmer, a former director of the Dubois County Farm Bureau Cooperative, Dubois County Cattlemen's Association and the Duff Water Corporation, and a past member of the Dubois County Forage Council and the Duff Conservation Club. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, both of Huntingburg, the Pork Producers Association and the Dubois Soil and Water Conservation District.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling is 1-8 p.m. today at Nass & Son Funeral Home, Huntingburg. A parish prayer service is planned there at 4 p.m.

Faye Tonkin
Faye V. Tonkin, 86, 705 Fulton St., Sidney, died at 1:18 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney.
She was born June 23, 1915, in Ansonia, to Jasper and Cora (Poe) Galbreath. On June 20, 1936, she married Leroy Tonkin and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, John of Celina; a sister, Mary Woolf, Winchester, Ind.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker and a 50-year member of First Christian Church, Sidney.
The body was cremated in keeping with her wishes. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Beverly Schnelle
Beverly J. Schnelle, 76, 05193 Ohio 66, New Bremen, died at 1:05 p.m. Feb. 21, 2002 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born Oct. 28, 1925, in St. Marys, to Ray and Bly (Botkins) Black. On April 19, 1947, she married Thomas S. "Spike" Schnelle and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Craig and Sue of New Bremen; a daughter and her husband, Sue and Jon Belton, New Bremen, and a daughter, LuAnne of Santa Clara, Calif.; two brothers and their wives, Richard and Shirley Black, New Bremen, and Steve and Beverly Black, St. Marys; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, Kent Black, is deceased.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
Private graveside services at Willow Grove Cemetery, New Bremen, will be at a later date. The body has been cremated.
Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, is handling the arrangements.

Oliver Vordermark
Oliver Vordermark, 94, 100 S. Mill St., New Knoxville, died at 8:20 p.m. Feb. 21, 2002 at the home of his son near New Knoxville.
He was born Sept. 24, 1907, on the same farm where he died, to Ernst and Mary (Katterheinrich) Vordermark. On Aug. 3, 1933, he married Mildred Kuhlman and she died Oct. 11, 1995.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Allen and Janet of McCormick, S.C., and Ned and Becky, New Knoxville; two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Larry Lewis, Kingman, Ind., and Mary and Bud Maschke, New Knoxville; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Otto, and seven sisters, Alma Henkener, Emma Stroh, Ella Stroh, Frances Rehn, Laura Deerhake, Mathilda Beickman and Olga Vordermark.
He was a retired farmer and a former director of People's Savings Bank, New Knoxville. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Comrades Sunday School Class and the Civic Association, all of New Knoxville, and the St. Marys Sen-ior Citizens. He formerly served as a church elder and deacon.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will be at Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Saturday at Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, New Knoxville.

Evelyn Quigley
Evelyn S. Quigley, 88, 3003 W. Cisco Road, Sidney, and a former resident of Troy, died Feb. 21, 2002 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney.
She was born March 29, 1913, in West Milton, to Christian and Marie (Albaugh) Solomon. Her husband, Carey Burdette Quigley, died Jan. 2, 1995.
Surviving are two nephews, Kareld A. Solomon Jr., Loudon, Tenn., and John Ward Jr., Celina; a niece and her husband, Rita and Bud McFarlin, Celina, and a niece, Barbara Carico, Sacramento, Calif.
She retired as an inspector at General Motors after 32 years of service and also was a musician in an orchestra. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose Lodge 1025, both of Troy, and the West Milton Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, the Rev. James C. Wilson II officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton.
Calling is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Daniel Kahle
Former Celina resident Daniel Bartley Kahle, 74, of 602 Fairway Drive, Bluefield, W.V., died Feb. 21, 2002 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Bluefield to Gilbert H. and Macie (Harman) Kahle. He married Gloria Lucille Kahle, who is deceased.
Deceased is a sister, Betty Kahle Smith.
He was a manager of the former J.C. Penney's store in Celina and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Rotary Club and National Rifle Association.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, the Rev. I. Mark Conner officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, Va.
Calling is 7-9 p.m. today at Mercer Funeral Home, Bluefield.

Dorothy Andrews
Former Celina resident Dorothy May Andrews, 86, 11608 Scott Simpson Drive, El Paso, Texas, died Feb. 24, 2002 at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso.
She was born May 5, 1915, in Montezuma, to Raymond and Dora (Lacy) Frank. On June 9, 1934, she married the Rev. Warren Andrews and he died Aug. 15, 2001.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Tom Reynolds, Le Paso, Texas; a brother, Gene Frank, St. Marys; a sister, Freda Knapke, Celina; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Celina High School and Boulder School of Practical Nursing. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of First Christian Church, Lexington, Neb.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Revs. Thomas and Troy Reynolds officiating. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
