Frances Piper
Frances E. Piper, 90, formerly of 1801 Winston Drive, St. Marys, and a resident of the St. Marys Living Center, died at 3:05 a.m. Feb. 12, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Sept. 21, 1912, in St. Marys, to Ralph and Caroline Simpson Botkin. On Sept. 18, 1943, she married Robert L. Piper who died Dec. 25, 1984.
Surviving are a nephew, Donald (Jill) Axe, and a niece, Rebecca (Paul) Christopher, St. Marys; six grandnieces and grandnephews.
Deceased are twin sisters, Lucy Axe and Lois Botkin, and a nephew, Robert Axe.
A 1930 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a homemaker, she previously worked at Parker-Clyde Oil Co., Lima, and Home Banking Company, St. Marys. She was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys, and a former member of the JTDM Hospital Guild.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is after noon Friday at the funeral home.

Leone Fanning
Former Celina resident Leone A. Fanning, 99, 3704 Coachman Drive, Carmel, Ind., died at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 10, 2003, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind.
She was born April 14, 1903, in Salem, Wis., to Chester and Pearl VanWormer Heath. On Aug. 16, 1924, she married Ralph Fanning who died Dec. 10, 1977.
Surviving are two sons, Richard of Loudonville and Ronald (Jenine) of Celina; two daughters, Elaine Ellis, Carmel, with whom she had resided since 1999, and Pat (Roy) Dickinson, Waterdown, Ontario, Canada; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Charles Ellis; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.
She assisted her husband in founding the architectural engineering firm now known as Fanning/Howey Associates Inc. and served as executive secretary of the company. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Carmel, and the Mercer County Historical Society and a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the Celina church, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.

Marjorie Gadd
Former Celina resident Marjorie Baker Gadd, 77, of Riverside, died Feb. 11, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Celina, to Robert H. and Mary Jones. Her husband, Ralph C. Gadd, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Robert A. (Paula) Baker and Marion Thomas Baker ; a brother, Richard (Lynn) Jones; a sister, Virginia (Robert) Hart; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She retired as office manager at SILCO after 26 years of service. She was a 1943 graduate of Northridge High School.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel, Dayton, the Rev. Marian Adell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Esther Kuck
Esther A. Kuck, 94, 423 E. Front St., New Bremen, died at 3:40 p.m. Feb. 8, 2003, at the St. Marys Living Center.
She was born May 11, 1908, near New Bremen, to Edward H. and Alvina Borgeding Quellhorst. On Oct. 25, 1934, she married Ewald D. Kuck who died July 16, 1982.
Surviving are three sons, David (Beverly) Kuck, New Bremen, Lee (Sandra) Kuck and William (Christena) Kuck, New Bremen; three daughters, Frances (Richard) Reese, Pandora, Barbara Dill, Alexandria, Va., and Lois (Bruce) Saintignon, Celina; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Helen Haeseker; a sister, Dela Dressel, and a granddaughter.
She was a 1925 graduate of New Bremen High School and a 1929 graduate of the Oakwood Institute, Cincinnati. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, where she had taught the German Bible class. A volunteer with numerous organizations over the years, she was a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau and had served on the Ohio State Farm Bureau Women's Committee.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Estella Liesner
Estella C. Liesner, 96, 24 N. Hamilton St., Minster, died at 4:55 a.m. Feb. 10, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born March 25, 1906, in Maria Stein, to Henry and Catherine Vehorn Rolfes. On Feb. 17, 1925, she married Lawrence Wissman who died July 13, 1947. In June 24, 1952, she married Urban Liesner who died May 5, 1983.
Surviving are three sons, James C. (Mary Lee) Wissman, St. Petersburg, Fla., John B. (Ann) Wissman, Prairie Village, Kan., and Jerome L. (Arlene) Wissman, Minster; a sister, Hilda Thobe, St. Marys; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
She was a homemaker, a charter member of the Knights of St. John Auxiliary and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Monica Sodality, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 1391 and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at the Minster church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:45 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Louis Zizelman
Louis W. Zizelman, 65, 321 W. Walnut St., Coldwater, at 5:15 a.m. Feb. 9, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater. Death was due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
He was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Rockford, to Willard and Virginia Graham Zizelman. On Dec. 17, 1984, he married Sharon Chivington who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kevin and Greg (Penny) of Mendon; two daughters, Deb and Leigh Ann (Jim) Shaffer, Mendon; four brothers, Roger (Carolyn), Rex (Zelda) and Gail (Carolyn) of Celina, and Marvin of Elida; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Ricky Dean, and a brother, Don, were deceased.
He formerly worked at New Idea, Coldwater. He attended Grace Missionary Church, Celina, and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3025, Coldwater.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, the Rev. Steve Howell officiating.
Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, has charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
Contributions can be made to the Pulmonary Rehab Department at Kettering Medical Center, Community Hospital or Briarwood Manor, Coldwater, Coldwater Emergency Medical Services Squad 7, Mercer County Hospice or the church mission fund.
Carlene Caywood
Carlene S. Caywood, 58, formerly of 00330 U.S. 33 West, St. Marys, died at 12:30 a.m. Feb. 8, 2003, at Otterbein Retirement Community, St. Marys. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born Jan. 24, 1945, in St. Marys, to Carl and Arline Baker Caywood.
Surviving are two brothers, Don (Abagaile) of McCormick, S.C., and Calvin (Diane) of St. Marys.
She retired from Auglaize Industries, New Bremen. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild and Rebecca Circle, St. Marys. She was a former member of the Girl Scouts of America.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
