Marguerite Foltz
Former Rockford resident Marguerite H. Foltz, 92, of Harriman, Tenn., died Feb. 17, 2001 in Tennessee.
She was born March 25, 1908, in Rockford, to Rufus W. and Minnie Hawk. She was married to Donald G. Foltz, who is deceased.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Richard W. and Carol of Harriman, Tenn.; a brother, Rufus L. Hawk, Beavercreek; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are a brother, Harold B. Hawk, and a sister, Louise Bert.
Graveside memorial services are March 17 at Pisgah Cemetery in Decatur, Tenn., the Rev. Roy Graves officiating.
Contributions can be made to Donald G. Foltz Scholarship Fund at the University of Wisconsin and Superior.
Oliver Brandon
Word has been received of the death of former Celina resident Oliver Perry "Mike" Brandon, 64, of Frostproof, Fla., who died March 8, 2001.
He was born June 23, 1936, to Olen and Jean (Grier) Brandon.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; four daughters, Sharon Sutler, Frostproof, Fla., Kim Schmidt, Decatur, Ind., Mary Jean Thomas, Celina, and Kathy Miracle, Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons, Olen of St. Marys, Ga., and Jon of Decatur, Ind.; a twin sister, Suzie Johnson, Rockford; two brothers, Paul of Downey, Calif., and Jack of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Jane Evans.
He was a telephone installer for Tom's Installation Co. and Henkle and McCoy.
Private services will be held at a later date in Florida.
Harold Dorsten
Harold A. Dorsten, 83, Ohio 119, Minster, died at 6 p.m. March 11, 2001 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born June 10, 1917, in St. Rose, to Albert and Regina (Rentz) Dorsten. On May 10, 1941, he married Vera J. Woehrmyer, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Ronald and Marilyn of Minster; a brother and his wife, Floyd and Elaine of Michigan; three sisters and their husbands, Marjorie and Edward O'Toole, and Maryann and Joseph Fullenkamp, all of Dayton, and Joan and Paul Kussman, Cincinnati; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Deceased are an infant daughter, Shirley Ann, an infant son, Douglas L., and three sisters.
He was founder and owner of H.A. Dorsten, Inc. of Minster, a founder and past board member of Arrowhead Park Golf Course, Minster, provided resources and helped construct Minster Memorial Field, sponsored attractions at Minster Oktoberfest, formerly served on the board of trustees of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, and was nominated 1997 Minster Civic Association Citizen of the year. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Precious Blood Inca Ball Committee, Knights of Columbus, all of Minster, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Celina, and Minster Civic Association.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

John Whetstone
John F. Whetstone, 69, rural Spencerville, died at 10:55 a.m. March 10, 2001 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born Jan. 17, 1932, in Salem Twp., Auglaize County, to Fred and Mildred (Rabley) Whetstone.
Survivors include a brother and his wife, Merle and Romaine of Van Wert; a brother-in-law, Norbert Landwehr, Delphos; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Roger, and two sisters, June Landwehr and Evelyn Whetstone.
He was a farmer and former employee of Sandkuhl Tile Works in Kossuth. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Reserves. He was active in the Spencerville FFA, and was a member of American Legion Post 191, Spencerville. He was a 1950 graduate of Spencerville High School.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Kenneth Whetstone officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts of Spencerville is at Kossuth Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lois Rentzsch
Word has been received of the death of former Celina resident, Lois Rentzsch. She died Feb. 25, 2001 in a hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.
She was born Oct. 28, 1915, in Oak Park, Ill. She was married to Hugo Rentzsch.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Bob Seymore, Chesterfield, Mo.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Kathy and Tom Bollenbacher, Tuster, Calif., and Judy and Darrel Hein, Dayton; a sister and her husband, Emily and Dudley Neuner, St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Rentzsch's were the owners and operators of the former Rentzsch's Department Store in Celina.
Private services were held in Chesterfield.

Wanda Osborne
Wanda Osborne, 84, 8078 Ohio 703 East, Celina, died at 7:04 p.m. March 11, 2001 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Thorpe, W.Va., to Mike and Josephine (Howlett) Marunich. On May 14, 1946, she married Glenn Osborne, who survives in Celina.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Jacqueline and Dr. Alfredo Paguirigan, Celina; a brother, Milton Marunich, Pocohontas, W.Va.; a sister, Gladys McClellend, San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Deceased are two sisters, Semelia Marunich and Hazel Brasky, and a brother, Sanford Marunich.
She was a homemaker and volunteered at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys Gift Shop, St. Marys Living Center and Valley Nursing Home, all St. Marys. She was a member of American Legion Post 323 Auxiliary, St. Marys, and was a graduate of Gary High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Hamilton.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial is at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens, Centerville.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Roberta Schlater
Roberta "Bertie" Schlater, 53, died after being shot March 11, 2001 at her residence on Schlater Road in Fort Loramie.
She was born June 8, 1947, in Versailles, to Chelcie and Cecilia (Barga) Gasson, both deceased. On April 20, 1968, she married Lavern Schlater, who is deceased.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Brian Bruggeman, a daughter, Michelle, and a son, Eric, all of Fort Loramie; five sisters and their husbands, Leona and Don Monnin, Wilma and Louis Didier, Almarita and Leroy Bruns, and Marylou and Jim Bornhorst, and Madonna and Fred McEldowney, all of Versailles; two brothers and their wives, Chalmer and Linda Gasson, Fort Loramie, and Carl and Kathy Gasson, Versailles; a brother, Curtis Gasson, Versailles; and two grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Luella Huber.
She was employed at Clopay Building Products Co., Russia, and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2347 Auxiliary, Versailles.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial follows in the church cemetery.
