DENNIS L. “IKE” BASIL, 57, of Troy, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004 in his residence.
He was born Dec. 23, 1945 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Danny and Mariom (Lee) Basil.
He is survived by his fiancée, Vanessa Lockhart. He is also survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Gayla Clemons of Dayton, Oh, Quinette and Tim Ford of Piqua, Oh, and Danielle Nagle of Troy, Oh; two sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis E. and Sheila Basil of Dayton, Oh, and Norman Basil of St. Paris, Oh; one brother Danny Basil of Piqua; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Basil was a member of True Victory Worship Center in Troy. He worked for the Piqua Emery Cutter & Foundry Co. for 28 years.
A memorial service will be held Monday March 15, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua, with Pastor Wilma L. Ford officiating. No Calling Hours will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cincinnati Shriners Burn Center, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229-3095.

WILLIAM D. “BILL” HUSTON, age 74, of Piqua, passed away Wednesday March 10, 2004 at 9:16 AM at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He is the son of the late William E. and Willmetta G. (Golden) Huston and was born in Lima, Ohio May 29, 1929.
Bill is missed by his surviving wife, Dorothy (Green) Huston whom he married February 1, 1959 in Lima. Mr. Huston is also survived by 1 Son: Larry Harrison of Piqua; 2 Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Susan & Paul Dockter of Mansfield and Terri & Robert Johns of Lima; 7 Grandchildren: Paula S. Foor, Timothy Johns and Stacy Morales, Randy DeMarcus, Jennifer Liette, Cinnamon Bryant and Holly Harrison and 13 Great Grandchildren: Hayley & Olivia Morales, P. J., Tiffany & Brandon DeMarcus, Nathan & LeAnn DeMarcus, Kyle, Taylor & Hunter Bryant, Krysten Harrison and Kendall Mikelajewski and one on the way. Bill is also survived by 2 Sisters & Brothers-In-Law: Mrs. Thelma R. Thomas of GA and Ardythe & Vernon Bielefeld of FL. Mr. Huston was preceded in death by 1 grandson: David Arthur Dockter, 1 Daughter-In-Law: Janet Harrison, 1 Brother-In-Law and his best friend: Leo Thomas and one brother.
Bill graduated from Lima Central High School in 1948 and graduated from Montgomery Ward Business College. He was a member of Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Lima. He currently attended Piqua Church of the Nazarene.
Bill worked for 40 years in management with Montgomery Wards and Elder Beerman. After retirement he started at Town & Country in Piqua where he was currently employed. Bill enjoyed woodworking, reading, walking, outside activities and his faithful companion, Brewster. He was a beloved grandfather and lived for his great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 13, 2004 at 11 A.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME in Piqua with Rev. Christopher Polley & Rev. Lincoln Robinson co-officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery in Piqua. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Friday 5:00 –8:00 P.M. and Saturday 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Miami County, P. O. Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373.

Delores O. (Webster) Buchanon: age 84 of Michigan, formerly of Vandalia; died Friday, March 19, 2004 at 8:50 p.m. at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, MI. She was born May 24, 1919 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Leo E. and Fairy (Bowers) Webster. She was married to Guy Buchanon; he preceded her in death in 1968.
De is survived by one sister: Joanne Rolka of Canton, MI and one brother: Paul Webster of Cold Springs, KY and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters: Catherine White and Helen Burke and two brothers: William Webster and Robert Webster preceded her in death.
Ms. Buchanon attended Piqua City Schools and was a member of Zion Reformed Church in Vandalia.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua with Rev. Lincoln Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sherry L. (Hinkle) Wackler: age 51 of Piqua; died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at 11:15 a.m. at Ohio State University Hospital. She was born March 11, 1953 in Piqua, Ohio to Earl and Martha V. (Thompson) Hinkle.
Sherry is survived by her father and stepmother: Earl and Margaret Hinkle of Laura, two daughters and son-in-law: Heather and Tony York of Blacklick, OH and Lisa Wackler and her fiancé Mike Philipps of Piqua and two granddaughters: Lauren and Brianna York. She is also survived by one brother: Gary Hinkle of Peachtree City, GA and three sisters and brothers-in-law: Terry Hinkle of Riverdale, GA, Merry and Bill Seipel of Troy and Gerry and Joe Ewing of Tipp City. Sherry’s mother: Martha (Thompson) Hinkle preceded her in death.
Ms. Wackler graduated from Milton Union High School and was a Sate Certified Nurses Aid. Sherry was a member of Piqua Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall. She was formerly employed by Computer Science Corporation in Beavercreek as a data control specialist and at Koester Pavilion in Troy. Sherry loved being a mother and grandmother and enjoyed gardening and antiques. She was loved and will be greatly missed by family, friends and her faithful dog: Charlie Pup.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 1:00p.m. at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall 3967 Washington Rd. Covington, OH with Brother Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington. Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 – 8:00p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua.

GERALD “JERRY” HUSTON: age 75 of Piqua; died Friday, March 26, 2004 at 6:00 a.m. at his residence. He was born September 22, 1928 in Union City, Ohio to the late Clarence E. and Madge E. (West) Huston. He married Norma Reynolds on August 26, 1948 in Union City, OH, and she survives.
Jerry is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Vicki Huston of New Bremen, OH, Belinda & Mike Hoelscher of Houston, OH, and Teresa & Andy Brewster of Houston, OH; 2 sisters: Geraldine Wade of Union City, OH and Patricia Woodbury of Union City, OH; 3 brothers: Kenneth Huston of Beamsville, OH, Howard Huston of Marion, IN, and Allen Huston of Tennessee; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Jerry graduated from Union City High School in Union City, OH in 1947. He managed several different clubs around the area over the years and was well liked by everyone.
Jerry served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Am Vets Post #72 of Piqua, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4239 of Sidney, Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #614 of Piqua and American Legion Post # 184 of Piqua where he was past Commander and served as manager of the canteen for many years. Jerry was a member of the elite 40/8 Miami County Voiture #420 in which he served as past Chef De Gare Gare.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua with Pastor James Manuel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, Hospice of Miami County PO Box 502 Troy, Ohio 45373.

Charles E. “Windy” Christian: age 75 of Piqua; died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 3:50 p.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. He was born July 20, 1928 in West Virginia to the late Charlie and Georgia (Whitt) Christian.
Windy married Mary (Tyler) Christian August 2, 1969 in Sidney; she survives. He is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Charlie R. Christian and Mitch Gross of Columbus, Robert W. and Maxine Christian of Wapakoneta and James A. and Terese Christian of Wapakoneta; four daughters and sons-in-law: Jan Maloy of Piqua, Debbie and Allen Cantwil of Piqua, Marcella and Larry Smith of FL and Wilma Higginsbotham of FL; five brothers: Harold Christian of FL, Dwight Christian of FL, Chester Christian of FL, Nicholas Christian of St. Marys and Franklin Christian of Sidney. 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren also survive him. Two granddaughters preceded him in death.
Mr. Christian graduated from high school in West Virginia and was a former member of the Sidney Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1403. He attended Friendship Baptist Church in Piqua. Windy retired from Copeland Corporation in Sidney in 1991 after 38 ˝ years of service. After retirement he was employed by The Home Depot in Piqua. He was an avid reader and loved to work. He also enjoyed sports and loved his children.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua with Rev. J.D. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery in Piqua. Visitation will be Friday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church 622 Gordon St. Piqua, Ohio 45356.

CARROLL A. NYMAN, age 77, of Piqua, Ohio, died Tuesday March 30, 2004 at 8:12 P.M. at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born November 24, 1926 in Bradford, Ohio to the late Vernon and Helen (Alspaugh) Nyman.
Funeral services will be held Monday April 5, 2004 at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Wayne Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Gettysburg cemetery, Gettysburg, Ohio. Calling hours will be Monday from 10 A.M. – 11 A.M. at the funeral home.

OLIVE M. MACY, age 86, of West Milton, Ohio, died Friday April 2, 2004 at Harborside Health Care Center, Troy, Ohio. She was born September 7, 1917 in Ludlow Falls, Ohio to the late Alonzo and Vertie (Kelly) Sowers.
Olive married Ralph W. Macy September 20, 1934 in Phillipsburg, Ohio and remained happily married for 69 years and he preceded her in death December 3, 2003.
Surviving is 1 Daughter: Sandra Dohrman of West Milton, Ohio and 1 Son and Daughter-In-Law: Merlin and Judith Macy of West Milton, Ohio. 1 Sister: Mrs. Lova Johnson of Ludlow Falls, Ohio. 5 Grandchildren: Collette (Wick) Smith of Piqua, Ohio, Thomas Wick II of Englewood, Ohio, Jeanie Dohrman of Troy, Ohio, Dejon and Kim Dohrman of West Milton, Ohio, Allyn and Dee Dee Traylor of Longmont, Colorado and 4 Great Grandchildren.
She was a member of the West Milton Church of the Brethren. Olive was employed by the Inland Division of General Motors in Dayton for 36 years retiring in 1972.
Funeral services will be Tuesday April 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Larry Baughman officiating with burial following in Riverside cemetery, West Milton, Ohio. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home.

DIANA HALL, age 54, of Piqua, Ohio died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 5:10 AM at Upper Valley Medical Center.
She was born June 28, 1949 in London, Ohio. She married Frederick L. Hall on June 5, 1999 in Piqua, Ohio. He survives. Her family includes extended parents: Rev. Howard & Alberta Collier, Piqua; 2 daughters: Kelly Smith, Troy, and Shelly Smith, Piqua; 2 step-daughters: Janee¢ Hall, Piqua, and Lynsey Hall, Piqua; and other members of her extended family which include Lisa Hall, Eugene & Trina Collier, Stephanie & Steven Michael, Terril Collier, Tyrone & Janelle Collier, Eric & Mallory Collier, Darlene & Barton Lewis and many nieces & nephews. Also surviving are 1 brother: Michael Smith, London, OH and 3 sisters & brother-in-law: Mary Ellen & Donald Whitson, Columbus, OH, Marlene Simmons, London, OH and Nancy Johnson, Columbus, OH and 2 granddaughters: Annah Mykele Stanly & Ja¢Lyn Indea Davis, both of Piqua.
Diana graduated from London High School in 1967 and from Rets Tech Center in 2002 with a degree in Travel and Tourism. She was a member of Church of Jesus in Piqua. She was active and devoted to the Church and was a part of the Altar Ministry Women’s Auxiliary, Hospitality and many other areas. She was employed by Ledex in Piqua for 16 years and Honda in Anna, OH for 11 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Church of Jesus in Piqua with the Rev. Howard Collier officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service at the Church.
