ROBERT C. ROGERS, SR, 67, of Piqua, died at 4:05 a.m. Sat. June 5, 2004 at Harborside Health Care Center in Troy.
He was born Oct. 19, 1936 in Piqua to the late Melvin and Veronica (Cannon) Rogers. He married
Patricia Philips on Dec. 27, 1962 in Troy, Oh. And she survives.
Robert is also survived by two sons, Robert C. Rogers, Jr. of Piqua, Mark Rogers, Sr. of Piqua and one daughter, Ellen Crabtree of Piqua. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Robert graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. He worked at the Piqua Board of Education for 8 years in Maintenance.
A memorial service will be held Thursday June 10, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Short officiating.
Liam Joseph Marsh: was born June 9, 2004 at 7:29 p.m. in Sidney, OH and died June 10, 2004 at 10:10 p.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.
Liam is survived by his parents: Edward L. and Carol Marsh of Piqua and two brothers: Clayton (7) and Ethan (3) Marsh both of Piqua. He is also survived by maternal grandparents: Frank and Barb (Seabold) Hodalski of FL; paternal grandparents: George and Diane Marsh of IL; paternal great grandmother: Roberta Will of IL; paternal aunts and uncles: Janet Neeka of IL, Darrin and Teresa Marsh of IL and Jodi and Armando Galeas of IL and maternal aunts and uncles: Frank Hodalski of IL; Mike Hodalski of FL and Lynne Hodalski and her fiancé: Paul Champaign of FL. Four cousins also survive Liam: Ashley, Darrin Jr. and Olivia Marsh and Stacy Neeka.
The Marsh family is a member of Hope Chapel Baptist Church in Piqua. John 14:1-4 NIV, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with pastor Tim Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery in Troy. Visitation will be Tuesday 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

WILLIAM FRED (JED) HICKS age 74 of Piqua; died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at 5:40 a.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born December 10, 1929 in Tipp City, Ohio to the late James C. and Grace (Riddle) Hicks. He married
Glenna Applegate on June 2, 1950. She survives.
Mr. Hicks is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: James & Gina Hicks, Piqua; Frank & Rebecca Hicks, Russia, OH; and David Hicks, Piqua; two daughters & sons-in-law: Sandy & Doug Beedan, Michigan and Sharon Reeder, Piqua. He is also survived by 1 sister: Rosalee Huber, Vero Beach, FL; 2 brothers: Robert Hicks, Bradford, OH and Raymond Hicks, Middletown, OH; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Three brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Hicks worked as a foreman at Springhill Nursery in Tipp City for 20 years.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Brickner officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be Saturday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Maple Hill cemetery in Tipp City.
Mary H. (Young) (Pemberton) Edwards, age 89 of Piqua; died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at 8:22 p.m. at the residence of her daughter, Stella Hill in Piqua. She was born November 21, 1914 in Perry Co. Ohio to the late John C. F. and Elizabeth (Hays) Young. Mary married
David L. Pemberton who preceded her in death in 1939. On July 5, 1944, she married
Woodrow W. Edwards from Fauquier Co. Virginia. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1979.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by one son: Harold Pemberton, Zanesville, OH and 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Freda and Ray Jenkins, Zanesville, OH; Mrs. Loretta McConiha, Zanesville, OH and Stella and Tom Hill, Piqua; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter: Eva McClintock of Urichsville, Ohio and one son-in-law, Harold McClintock of Urichsville, Ohio and one daughter-in-law Rayma Linscott Pemberton of Zanesville, Oh. Also, four brothers preceded her in death; Ralph H. Young, John E. Young, Clarence Young and Franklin Young. She also had half-brothers and half-sisters whose mothers were; Kate Tracy, Lizzie Sowers, Carrie Tracie, and Lorana Allard. Also, one grandchild and one great-great grandchild preceded her in death.
Mary was a member of the First Church of God in Zanesville and then a member of God’s Acres Church in Newark, OH. She was a homemaker.
Funeral Services will be Fri. June 25 at 2 p.m. at the First Church of God 1930 Newark Rd. Zanesville, Oh with Pastor Roger Decker officiating. Calling hours will be Fri. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park.

Inia R. (Jones) Bell, age 56 of Piqua; died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 2:30 a.m. at her residence. She was born October 29, 1947 in Valley Creek, Tennessee to the late William and Lula (Fultz) Jones. Inia married
Weyman E. Bell on April 18, 1965 in Sidney, OH. He survives.
Mrs. Bell is also survived by 2 daughters and son-in-law: Melinda & David Eichelberger, Sidney, OH and Jody Bell, Piqua, OH; 5 sisters & brothers-in-law: Wilma & Glen Dudley, Mt. Gilead, OH; Barbara & Raymond Marlow, Sidney, OH; Imalders & H. L. Metzler, Cridersville, OH; Gay & Kenneth Hickman, Sidney, OH; Carolyn & Wayne Billing, Piqua, OH; 2 brothers: Homer Jones and Donald Jones, both of Sidney; and 4 grandchildren: Ashley, Aaron, Josh & Jessica. She was preceded in death by 1 brother: Roger Jones.
Inia attended Sidney High School and was a homemaker.

Frebert A. Couchot, 86, of Piqua, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at Harborside Health Care Center in Troy.
He was born August 7, 1917 in Newport, OH to the late Albert and Mary (Monnin) Couchot. He married
Opal M. Shinn on May 27, 1939 in Piqua. She survives.
Frebert is also survived by two sons & daughters-in-law: Ronald & Marian (Smith) Couchot, Oceanside, CA and Michael & Kendra (Rhoades) Couchot, Bakersfield, CA; very special friends: Charlie & Mary Drapp, Piqua; a very close friend for over 65 years: Ruth Flory, Dayton, OH; 2 brothers: Robert Couchot, Melbourne, FL and Norris Couchot, Indianapolis, IN; 2 grandchildren: Aaron Couchot, Sacramento, CA and Matthew Couchot, Bakersfield, CA and 2 great-grandchildren: Jacob Couchot & Allison Couchot, both of Sacramento, CA.
Frebert worked for the City of Piqua Electrical Utilities as a Superintendent for 35 years. He retired in 1980.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 10: a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Grilliot officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, June 25 from 5 – 8 pm at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held Friday at 5 P.M. in the funeral home.

FRANK T. BAYS, Sr., age 90 of Piqua died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 9:15 p.m. at his residence. He was born October 13, 1913 in Kansas City, MO to the late Frank T. and Florence (Casy) Bays. His first wife Ethel Marie Bays died in 1992. On July 23, 1993, he married
Pauline Lunberg in LaCygne, Kansas. She survives.
Mr. Bays is also survived by two sons and daughter-in-law: Douglas & Tina Bays, Knoxville, TN and Frank T. Bays, Jr., Green Cove Springs, FL; one step-son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth & Ruth Alrick, Troy, OH; one step-daughter and son-in-law: Carol & Craig Kurtz, Des Moines, IA; one sister: Lillian Dake, Bolivar, MO; and two grandsons: Derek Bays, Knoxville, TN and Sean Bays, Knoxville, TN. He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Frank was a member of New Life Baptist Church in LaCygne, Kansas and later Favorite Hill Baptist Church in Piqua. He was very active in his churches and served the Lord faithfully. Frank served in the U S Army Headquarters Battery 3rd Armored Artillary Battalion during WWII. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Air Metal, Oak Leaf Cluster and Bronze Star. He was a farmer in Kansas most of his life and farmed the Silver Mound Farm in LaCygne, Kansas. Frank also was an avid reader.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday July 6, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home Piqua, Oh. Calling hours will be Monday 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery, Piqua.

BETTY R. ATON, age 79 of Piqua; died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 7:10 p.m. at Koester Pavilion in Troy, OH. She was born August 13, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Walter and Hazel (West) Thompson. Betty was preceded in death by her special friend of 35 years, Neil Floan on June 8, 1997.
Mrs. Aton is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Penny & Joseph Ording, Troy, OH; 1 grandson: Ron & Lisa Joyal, Piqua; 3 great-grandchildren: Donnie Joyal, Michael Joyal & Brent Amanda Joyal, all of Piqua; 4 great-great grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Mrs. Virginia Anderson of Florida and Mrs. Midge Peralez of Texas. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
Betty was the former owner of Club Piqua on N. St. Rt. 25A.

RAYMOND J. HUTTON, age 70, of Piqua, Ohio, died Saturday July 3, 2004 at 1:55 P.M. at Hospice of Dayton. He was born February 3, 1934 in Barbourville, Kentucky to the late Mallen and Martha (Smith) Hutton.
He married
Lula M. Allen August 22, 1951 in Kentucky and she preceded him in death in 1982.
Surviving are 2 Daughters and Son-In-Laws: Bonnie & Charlie Gambill of Houston, O.; Lisa & Kenton Jackson of London, Ky. 3 Sons and 1 Daughter-In-Law: Clifford & Andrea Hutton of Covington, O. ; Phillip Hutton of Piqua, O. ; Anthony Scott Hutton of London, Ky.
1 Sister: Beulah Moses of Sidney, O.; 2 Brothers: Junior Hutton of Michigan, Paris Hutton of Kentucky, 1 Half Brother: Marcum Smith of Mississippi, 2 Half Sisters: Anna Smith of Fla., Pearl Siders of Piqua, O.
13 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: 1 Brother: Kenneth Hutton, 1 Sister: Jeanita Lewis.
He was employed at Heartland of Piqua Nursing Home and retired from the former Val Decker Packing Plant in Piqua, Ohio after 28 years of service.
