ELVA M. AGENBROAD, age 82, of Piqua, Ohio, died Sunday November 17, 2002 at 8:25 A.M. at Hospice of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. She was born April 20, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to the late August and Grazia (Nanni) Paolini. She married James E. Agenbroad Feb. 10, 1943 in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1992.
Surviving are 2 Daughters: Diane C. Elton of Centerville, Ohio and Mrs. Jay Milner (Joyce) of Snellville, Ga. 1 Sister Mary Weaver of Columbus, Ohio. 4 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandsons and 1 Great Granddaughter. She was preceded in death by 3 Sisters and 3 Brothers.
Mrs. Agenbroad graduated from Columbus North High School in 1938. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society of the church.
She was a medical records secretary at Piqua Memorial Medical Center for 15 years, retiring in 1983.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Nov. 20, 2002 at 11 A.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME with Rev.Fr. Thomas Grilliot officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 6 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzeimers Assn. 3797 Summit Glen Dr. Ste. 100 Dayton, Ohio 45449 or to Hospice of Dayton P.O. Box 1828 Dayton, Ohio 45401-1828.

ROBERT H. TROSTEL, age 82, of Piqua, Ohio, died Saturday November 23, 2002 at 8:55 A.M. at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He was born March 13, 1920 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Frank and Mary (Konz) Trostel. He married Annabelle Roth on October 25, 1947 in Sidney, Ohio and she preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 1992.
Mr. Trostel is survived by 2 Sons and Daughter-In-Laws: Scott & Cheryl Trostel of Fletcher, Ohio and Steve & Kathy Trostel of Piqua, Ohio. 1 Daughter and Son-In-Law: Jane & Jeff Phillabaum of W. Palm Beach, Fla. 1 Brother: George Eugene Trostel of Covington, Ohio, and 6 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 Brother and 2 Grandaughters.
Mr. Trostel was a 1938 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School and attended the University of Dayton for 3 years before he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve in World War II. He was a member of St. Mary Church, Knights of St. John in which he was treasurer and ran the bingo program for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. A member of Piqua American Legion Post #184 and the Piqua Am Vets. He was also an avid bowler. Mr. Trostel served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II serving in North Africa, Italy and Asia. He retired from the administration dept. of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 1973.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday November 27, 2002 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Church, Piqua, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Thomas Grilliot and Rev. Fr. Angelo Caserta as celebrants. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. A Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church Building Fund 528 Broadway, Piqua, Ohio 45356.

KARLA ANN POWELL, age 48, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Piqua, Ohio, died Friday November 22, 2002 in her residence. She was born August 2, 1954 in Piqua, Ohio to Alice M. Grunkemeyer Lehman and her husband Francis Lehman who survive in Piqua, Ohio and the late Carl R. Grunkemeyer.
She married Dannie Lee Powell March 3, 1973 in Piqua, Ohio and he survives. Also surviving is 1 Son and Daughter-In-Law: Jason C. & Korina L. Powell of Springfield, Ohio. 1 Daughter and her fiancé Laurie Powell & Reid Tackett of Springfield, Ohio. A special friend: Dan Tackett of Springfield, Ohio. 2 Brothers: Joseph W. Grunkemeyer and Thomas R. Grunkemeyer both of Piqua, Ohio. 1 Aunt: Betty Seipel of Piqua, Ohio and 8 Grandchildren. Mrs. Powell was a 1972 Graduate of Lehman High School and graduated from Clark State University in 1977 in which she received her Registered Nurses Degree. She was a member of St. Boniface Church. She was a Registered Nurse at Kettering Medical Center for 14 years and Community Hospital in Springfield, Ohio for several years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday November 27, 2002 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Boniface Church with burial to follow at Forest Hill cemetery, Piqua, Oh. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kettering Medical Center’s pain center.

Earl H. (Skip) LeVan III: age 45 of Sidney, formerly of Piqua died Friday, November 29, 2002. He was born April 17, 1957 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Earl H. LeVan II and Anna (Ward) LeVan of Piqua. He married Doris (McClure) Leis November 2, 2001 in Piqua, Ohio; she survives.
Skip is survived by four sons: Earl H. (Skip) LeVan IV, John LeVan, Brandon LeVan and Evin LeVan all of Piqua. He is also survived by one stepdaughter and son-in-law: Michelle and Eric Zumbrun of DeGraff; one sister: Cathy Maggert of Piqua and one granddaughter: Hannah LeVan of Piqua. One sister, Carol West, preceded him in death.
Mr. LeVan graduated from Piqua High School in 1975 and attended Family of Grace United Methodist Church. Skip was a black belt in Martial Arts in which he was an instructor for many years. He served our country in the United States Air Force 1976-1980. Norcold Inc. in Sidney employed Skip for 20 years.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Family of Grace United Methodist Church in Piqua with Dr. Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park cemetery in Covington. Visitation will be Tuesday 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home.

BLANCHE K. DOTSON, age 86, of Piqua, Ohio, died at 5:27 A.M. Monday Dec. 2, 2002 in the home of her daughter in Piqua. She was born Sept. 4, 1916 in Brushy Creek, Kentucky to the late Richard and Carolina (Mayse) Keesee. She married William Jefferson Dotson on October 2, 1935 in Ransom, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1990.
Surviving are 3 Daughters and Son-In-Laws: Donna Sue & Carl O’Neal of Bud, W. Va.; Phyllis & Lee Ellis of Wapakoneta, O.; Carol Faye & David Clark of Piqua, O. 3 Sons and Daughter-In-Laws: William S. & Karla Dotson of Conover, O.; Edward & Sharon Dotson of Piqua, O.; James Larry Dotson of Piqua, O. 2 Sisters & Brother-In-Laws: Thelma & Okey Scott of Piqua, O.; Betty & Robert Smith of Worthington Springs, Fla. 2 Brothers and Sister-In-Law: Steve & Shirley Keesee of Cleveland, Tenn. Burl Keesee of McMinnville, Tenn. 21 Grandchildren and 38 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Wilma Smith in 1996, 2 Grandchildren and 2 Sisters & 3 Brothers.
Mrs. Dotson was a member of the Piqua Freewill Baptist Church and the Blackberry Interdenominational Church in Ransom, Ky. She loved to quilt, bowl, cook and care for her family.
She was a cook for Blackberry Grade School in Ransom, Ky. For 14 years, a cook for Dettmer Hospital, Troy, O. for 2 years and a cook for Medalist Allen-A for 2 years.
Funeral services will be Wednesday 8 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, 646 West High Street Piqua, Ohio with Rev. Steven Sykes and Rev. Dennie Cantrell officiating. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6-8 P.M.at the funeral home. There will also be funeral services on Friday at 11 A.M. at HATFIELD FUNERAL HOME 144 Old Hywy 119 Toler, Ky. 41514 with Rev. Lee Ellis and Rev. James Thomas Dotson officiating. Burial will follow in Dotson Family cemetery in Ransom, Ky. Calling hours at the Hatfield Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-8 P.M

JOHN E. MEED, age 72, of Piqua, Ohio, died Monday Dec. 2, 2002 at 7:35 P.M. at Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio. He was born June 3, 1930 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Clarence and Jeannette (Penny) Meed. He was married to Rose Ellen Neves Jan. 15, 1954 in Piqua, Ohio and she preceded him in death on June 12, 1997.
Surviving are 3 Sons and Daughter-In-Laws: Wendell & DeAnne Meed of Bradford, Ohio; Randy & Lynn Meed of Beaufort, S. Carolina; Mark Meed of Beaufort, S. Carolina. 1 Daughter and Son-In_Law: Sheryl and David Sage of Piqua, O. 1 Brother: Gene Meed of Piqua, O. 1 Sister: Joan Scott of Dayton, O. Grandchildren: Kyla Yohey, Kyle Lear, Amanda Meed, Cassandra Meed, Josua Sage, Jeremey, Justin & John Meed, Dave & Jennifer Sage and their Sons: Jordan, Tyler, John, Zachary & Jarrett. He was preceded in death by 1 Great Grandaughter.
Mr. Meed was a member of the Piqua Loyal Order of the Moose. He worked at the former Wood Shovel Co. in Piqua, Ohio for many years and was a self employed carpenter & painter. A graveside service will be held Friday Dec. 6, 2002 at 11 A.M. at Forest Hill cemetery with Dr. Dennis Miller officiating.

MARCELLA C. (TEDDY) BELL, Age 87, of Piqua, Ohio, died Sunday December 8, 2002 at 4:10 A.M. at Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born December 5, 1915 in Piqua, Ohio to the late George F. and Gertrude (Brands) Fischer. She married Arthur F. Bell April 29, 1941 in Piqua, Ohio and he preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1979.
Surviving are 4 Daughters and Son-In-Laws: Julia (Judy) and Michael Terry of Piqua, O.; Margaret (Peg) and George White of Piqua, O.; Elizabeth (Betty) and Charles Elliott of Troy, O.; Mary Martha (Marty) and Richard Johnston of Troy, O. 3 Sons and Daughter-In-Laws: Thomas and Laura Bell of Piqua, O.; John (Jack) and Elizabeth Bell of Troy, O.; Daniel and Mary Bell of Charleston, S.C.
18 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Martha Elaine and 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters.
Mrs. Bell was a 1933 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School. She was a member of St. Mary Church and the altar society of the church. She also volunteered at the church and assisted in the school cafeteria. She was a Girl Scout leader and she enjoyed needle work in which she created Christmas ornaments, picture art work, baby clothing and wedding gifts for many years.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday Dec. 11, 2002 at 11 A.M. at St. Mary Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Grilliot and Rev. Fr. Angelo Caserta as celebrants. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 4 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Piqua Catholic School 503 West North St. Piqua, Ohio 45356.

LESTER R. MEYER, age 80, Formerly of Piqua, Ohio, died Wednesday December 11, 2002 at 11:10 P.M. at Maple Ridge Health Care Centre, Lincoln, Illinois. He was born May 6, 1922 in Yorkshire, Ohio to the late Clifford Byrd and Ruth Byrd Meyer. He married Betty J. Shaffer July 31, 1943 in New York City and she preceded him in death on November 22, 1998.
Surviving is 1 Son: Scott Meyer of Lincoln, Illinois. 1 Daughter: Marcia Sprecher of Hilliard, Ohio. 4 Granddaughters: Jennifer Sprecher of Cincinnati, Ohio; Carey Sprecher of Hilliard, Ohio; Britne Meyer & Kristen Meyer both of Lincoln, Illinois, and 1 Great Grandchild.
Mr. Meyer graduated from Versailles High School in 1939. He was a member of the Ebenezer Masonic Lodge #33 in Wooster, Ohio; Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland, Ohio; Piqua Elks Lodge and the Ohio Board of Realtors.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Meyer lived in Wooster, Ohio for 28 years and managed a processing & marketing Farm Cooperation. After returning back to the Piqua area he worked in real estate then owned and operated Les Meyer Realty & Brokerage in Piqua since 1984.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 17, 2002 at 11 A.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Donald Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Pearl cemetery in Sidney, Ohio with full military honors by Piqua VFW Post # 4874. Calling hours will be Monday from 6-8 P.M. in the funeral home. Warren Lodge A&FM; # 24 in Piqua will have a Masonic service at 7 P.M. Monday in the funeral home.

Eva J. Shinall, 81, of Piqua, died Thursday Dec. 19, 2002 at 3:02 p.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. She was born March 31, 1921 in Piqua, Oh. to the late Charles and Elsie (Greenbaum) Matthews. She married William P. Shinall on Feb. 19, 1940 in Piqua, Oh. and he preceded her in death in 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Charles L. Shinall, and William P. Shinall, Jr., both of Piqua, Oh. Three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara J. Mullins of Piqua, Donna and Larson Downs of Avon Park, Florida, and Nancy and James Paul of Piqua, Oh.; 26 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. One sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shinall was a member of the Piqua Assembly of God Worship Center in Piqua. She worked for Allen-A in Piqua for 25 years as a seamstress and retired in 1984.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at The Piqua Assembly of God Worship Center, Piqua, with Rev. Scott Mays officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill cemetery, Piqua. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home.

AMANDA A. JACKSON, age 39, of Piqua, Ohio, died Thursday December 19, 2002 in her residence. She was born July 20, 1963 in Piqua, Ohio to Paul Junior Bixler of Piqua, O. and Nancy (Davis) Ross of Piqua, O. who both survive. She married Ricky Jackson June 1, 2001 in Piqua, Ohio and he survives. Also surviving is 1 Daughter: Morgan Bixler of Piqua, Ohio; 1 Son and Daughter-In-Law: Steven and April Bixler of Piqua, Ohio. 1 Stepson: Ricky Lee Jackson, Jr. of Piqua, Ohio; 1 Step Daughter and son-In-Law: Bobbie Jo and Spencer Neves of Piqua, Ohio. 2 Brothers: Paul Bixler and Howard Bixler both of Bradford, Ohio. 1 Step Sister: Dot Jackson of Sidney, Ohio. 4 Step Brothers: Ralph Ross, Harold Ross, and Jeff Ross all of Lockington, Ohio; Michael Ross of Mt. Vernon, Ky. 4 Grandchildren: Macy, Hannah, Spencer and Ashleigh.
Mrs. Jackson graduated from Piqua High School in 1981. She was a member of the Trinity Worship Center in Piqua where she was the mission outreach director, public relations, helping hands committee, fellowship committee, choir member and sound technician of the church. She was employed at Evenflo in Piqua in consumer relations.
Funeral service will be Monday December 23, 2002 at 2 P.M. at Trinity Worship Center in Piqua, O. with Pastor Michael Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 2-4 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Worship Center Missions Outreach Program 531 W. Ash St. Piqua, Ohio 45356.
