DEANNA M. SEAS, age 23, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Piqua, Ohio, died Tuesday Feb. 11, 2003 at 5:15 P.M. in her residence. She was born March 18, 1979 in Troy, Ohio to Dean Seas of Piqua, Ohio and Patricia Cox of Dayton, Ohio and they survive.
Also surviving is 1 Son: Dre’vyn Seas of Dayton, Ohio. 1 Sister: Amber Sweitzer of Piqua, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Monday Feb. 17, 2003 at 2 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME with Rev. James Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to help defray funeral expenses.
LILLIAN J. TALLEY, age 65, of Piqua, Ohio died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at 4:27 A.M. at Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born Aug. 29, 1937 in Oak Park, Ill. To the late Anton and Lillian (Nejedly) Vinicky.
She married
James Talley September 16, 1980; he survives. Lillian is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law: John and Kim Ross of Piqua, one daughter and son-in-law: Jean and Joe Frey of San Diego, CA and three grandchildren.
Lillian graduated from Alvernia High School in Chicago, IL and was a homemaker.
Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
STELLA RUTH JONES, age, 77, of Greenville, Ohio our beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away Saturday February 22, 2003 at 4:12 P.M. at The Brethren Home in Greenville, O. She was born in Worthington, Ohio May 19, 1925 to the late Alonzo and Vertie (Kelly) Sowers. She married
Charles L. Jones on Sept. 1, 1954 and he died October 11, 1988.
Surviving are 2 Daughters and son-In-Laws: Sharon and Dan Bledsoe of Mount Prospect, Ill. And Marilyn and Robert Rice of Arcanum, Ohio. 2 Sisters: Mrs. Waldo Macy(Olive) of West Milton, Ohio and Mrs. Lova Johnson of Ludlow Falls, Ohio. 2 Grandchildren Jason & Emilie Rice of Arcanum, Ohio and Sarah (Rice) Stephan of Greenville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by 1 Son: Charles Timothy and 5 Brothers and 5 Sisters.
Ruth was a member of Trinity Weslyan Church, Greenville, Ohio. She was employed at Kuhn’s Printing Co. in Dayton, Ohio for 13 years and Inland Div. Of G.M. in Vandalia for 12 years.
Funeral services will be held Friday February 28, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, Piqua, Ohio with Rev. Larry Baughman officiating. Jamie L. Schaffer: age 43 of New Carlisle, formerly of Covington and Springfield; died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at 6:00 a.m. in his residence. He was born February 9, 1960 in Piqua, Ohio to Eddie L. Schaffer and Doris Ann Nan (Franke) Tyler; she survives and resides in Quincy.
Jamie is survived by one son: Jason Schaffer of North Hampton; three brothers and sisters in law: Ed and Tandy Schaffer of Piqua, Scott and Patty Schaffer of Troy and David and Diana Schaffer of Fletcher; one sister and brother-in-law: Linda and Terry Gibbs of Union City, IN and seven step-brothers and sisters: Sherry Gibson, Nora Thompson, Ginny West, Becky Rowe, Cleal Tyler III, Patrick Tyler and Joe Tyler. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews: Eddie Schaffer and Brandi Baker, Joseph Schaffer, Amber and Ashley Schaffer and Shaun Baker and Mikey Gibbs and one cousin: Randy and Jo Schaffer. Jamie was preceded in death by his father: Eddie L. Schaffer January 31, 1999and his stepfather: Cleal (Dusty) Tyler January 25, 2003.
Mr. Schaffer attended Covington Schools. He enjoyed golf and auto racing. He was employed by Springfield Modification as a fabricator for 20 years.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Mr. John Willbur and Mr. Troy Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert W. Schwable, age 89 of Piqua; died Monday, February 24, 2003 at 2:10p.m. in his residence. He was born February 12, 1914 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Frederick J. and Caroline (Decker) Schwable. He married
Marie K. (Reser) Schwable August 9, 1940 in Piqua, she survives.
Bob is also survived by one daughter: Carol Ann Stern of Fairfax Station, VA and five grandchildren: Robert Stern of Katy, TX, Karen Stern of Grand Prairie, TX, William Stern of Clarksburg, W.V., Kathleen Speer of Oak Hill, VA and Elizabeth Stern of Fairfax Station, VA and ten great-grandchildren. One brother and his son-in-law: Lawrence H. Stern preceded him in death.
Mr. Schwable graduated from St. Mary High School in Piqua in 1932. He was a member of St. Mary Church. Bob started working at the former Val Decker Packing Co. at the age of 12 and retired from there at the age of 65.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Fr. Thomas Grilliot officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 5:00 – 8:00p.m. at the funeral home with a Prayer Service at 5:00p.m.

RUTH E. HUDSON, age 89, of Piqua, Ohio, died Saturday March 1, 2003 at 1:35 P.M. at Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Springfield, Ohio October 10, 1913 to the late George and Edna (Tracey) Kemp. She married
Carl R. Hudson on November 2, 1932 in Richmond, Indiana and he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1996.
Surviving is 1 Daughter and Son-In-Law: Beverly and Rev. James Wheeler of Piqua, Ohio. 1 Sister: Mrs. Ellen Althouse of Springfield, Ohio. 5 Grandchildren: Rev. Gary Wheeler of Cincinnati, Ohio; Dr. Greg Wheeler of Lexington, Kentucky; Rob Hudson of Birch Harbor, ME. Tim Hudson of Blacksburg, Va.; Tara Winn of Pond Creek, Oklahoma, and 13 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 Son, 1 Sister and 3 Brothers.
Mrs. Hudson was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Springfield, Ohio.

Vera M. “Bidie” (Grubbs) Baker: age 75 of Piqua died Friday at 6:55 A.M., March 14, 2003 at A.M. at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. She was born June 21, 1927 in Alcorn, Mississippi to the late Marion H. and Nora (Jones) Grubbs. Bidie married
Marion H. Grimes August 7, 1946; he preceded her in death in 1963. She married
Ora K. Baker November 21, 1964; he preceded her in death in 1977.
Mrs. Baker is survived by three stepchildren, two nieces that she raised: Cathy Meyer of Piqua and Sonya Blankenship of Sidney and three great-nieces and nephews: Ashley and Ethan Meyer and Austin Blankenship and many other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother: Marion H. Grubbs, Jr. of TN and three sisters: Louise Savell of FL, Edith Shawler of Piqua and Shirley Sholly of Piqua. One brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
Bidie touched many lives and will be greatly missed. She retired from Copeland Corporation in Sidney after 13 years of service.
Funeral Services will be Monday, March 17, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Alexander Foster, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Beechwood cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

MARJORIE L. BEY, age 61, of Piqua, Ohio, died Saturday March 15, 2003 at 4:25 P.M. at Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio. She was born December 12, 1941 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Glenwood and Alice (Gustin) Pickering.
She was married
to Raymond Bey, Jr. June 26, 1964 in Piqua, Ohio and he Survives. Also surviving is 1 Daughter: Maria Weaver of Sidney, Ohio. 1 Brother: Walter Pickering of Kansas City, Kansas. 1 Granddaughter: Heather Juraz of Sidney, Ohio and 1 Great Granddaughter: Haley Weaver of Sidney, Ohio.
Marjorie was a 1959 graduate of Miami East High School.

Opal Cruea, age 89, of Piqua, Ohio, died Friday March 14, 2003 at Heartland of Piqua Nursing Home. She was born May 13, 1913 in Potsdam, Ohio to the late Earl and Rose (Bond) Cruea. She married
Norbert Cruea, Sr. in Troy, Ohio and he died in 1977.
Survivin 4 Daughters and Son-In-Laws: Marlene and Robert Robins of Casper, Wyoming; Mrs. Frances Kirby of Lima, Ohio; Patricia and Jack Hughes of Summerville, Tennessee; Doris and James Smith of Cookville, Tennessee; 3 Sons; Earl Cruea of Piqua, Ohio; Billy Cruea of New Hampshire, 1 Sister; Mrs Doris Mills of Arizona, 33 Grandchildren and 42 Great Grandchildren. Opal was preceeded in death by 1 Daughter: Rosemary Boles, 2 Sons, 2 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandson.
Opal was a member of Calvery Baptist Church. She was a cook at Johnson Nursing Home in Troy, Ohio for 15 years and was a devoted Mother and Homemaker all her life. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11 A.M. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, with Rev. Merrill Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M in the funeral home.
