Charles Joseph Laudick, 71, of New Mexico, formerly of Delphos, died April 11 in New Mexico.
He was born Sept. 10, 1933, to Rayner and Eva Laudick.
He married Dee Laudick, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include four sons, David (Patricia) Laudick of Delphos, Richard (Laura) Laudick of Woodstock, Ill., Robert Laudick of Portfito Town, Ill., and Daniel (Becky) Laudick of McHenry, Ill.; two daughters, Gina (Glen) Oakley of Cabot, Ark., and Tina (Mike) Daugherty of Cary, Ill.; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Laudick.
Mr. Laudick was a past member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Walterick-Hemme Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035.
Services were held in New Mexico.
Malinda M. Moenter

Malinda M. Moenter, 81, of Delphos, died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday at Vancrest Health Care Center.
She was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Paulding County, to Florian and Regina (Koetter) Schmersal.
On Nov. 28, 1946, she married Richard Moenter, who survives in Delphos.
Survivors also include two sons, Daniel (Nancy) Moenter of Atlanta, Ga., and Robert (Debra) Moenter of Delphos; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Schmersal.
Mrs. Moenter was secretary at the City Feed Store for 34 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a volunteer at St. Rita's and Hospice. She enjoyed helping the sick, playing cards and cross word puzzles.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Friday at Harter and Son Funeral Home, where a parish wake will be 8:30 p.m.

Edna E. Matthews, 85, formerly of Convoy, died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born May 1, 1918, in Van Wert County, to Henry W. and Carrie (Laundsberry) Gribler.
On Jan. 1, 1940, she married Russell H. Matthews, who died Aug. 16, 1974.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Steven Waterman officiating. Burial will be in Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

John H. Brinkman, 84, of Delphos, died at 11:19 p.m. Sunday at his residence.
He was born Nov. 19, 1919 in Delphos, to Ignatius John and Sylvia (Robinson) Brinkman.
On March 7, 1946, he married Lois Jean Stocklin, who survives.
Survivors also include 11 children, Judy (Richard) Godwin of Rouge Mont, N.C., John (Nancy) Brinkman Jr., Donald (Susan) Brinkman, Roger (Patricia) Brinkman, Dan (Carol) Brinkman, Patty (Charles) Gengler and Connie (Gary) Stephens of Delphos, Jane Wurst and David (Kelly) Brinkman of Spencerville, Susan Placke of Wapakoneta and Jim (Trina) Brinkman of Fort Jennings; a daughter-in-law, Polly Brinkman of Delphos; 32 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sue Brinkman; a son, Terry Brinkman; three brothers, Louis, Raymond and William Brinkman; and four sisters, Margaret Shaner, Francie Robinson, Maudie Raver and Lucy Brinkman.
Mr. Brinkman was a brick mason and owner of Brinkman Construction. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II and received the Bronze Star. He was an expert rifleman.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, where a parish wake will be at 8 p.m.

Robert E. Rupert
Robert E. Rupert, 81, of Fort Wayne, Ind., formerly of Delphos, died April 15.
He was born in Delphos and was the past owner of Bob's Kar Parts and was a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, in 1993.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road.

Florence M. 'Babe' Moreo, 74, of Perrysburg, died Thursday in St. Luke's Hospital.
She was born April 24, 1929, in Delphos, to Harmon and Gladys (Dotson) Schulte.
On Oct. 12, 1946, she married Paul W. Moreo, who died July 18, 2002.
Survivors include four children, Debbie R. (John) Liska of Temperence, Mich., Anny 'Paula' Hopeful of Toledo, Mary Ann M. Calley and the Rev. David 'Richard' Moreau of Phoenix; a sister, Marcille Lucius of Perrysburg; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Elmer Schulte.
Mrs. Moreo was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rose Cemetery.

Cyril F. Hempfling, 83, of Delphos, died Thursday at his residence.
He was born July 11, 1920 in Delphos, to Albert and Frances (Brinkman) Hempfling.
On June 30, 1948, he married Dolores M. Thines, who died July 28, 1998.
Survivors include a son, David Hempfling of Delphos; two daughters, Patricia (Peter) Clementz of Cloverdale and Kathleen (John) Sponosa of Defiance; a brother, Herbert (Mary) Hempfling of Delphos; two sisters, Beatrice Miller of Delphos and Germaine Hemker of Coldwater, Mich.; and two grandsons, Joshua and Ryan Clementz.
He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Leo Miller and Elmer Hemker.
Mr. Hempfling retired after 45 years as a drainage contractor. He was a World War II Air Force veteran and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035. He was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Hump Pilot Association and a past president of the St. John Cemetery Board.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.

Roy C. Bryan, 81, of Lindenhurst, Ill., died Thursday at Highland Park Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1923 in Delphos, to Harley E. and Nina B. (Hershey) Bryan.
He married Eva (Trute) Bryan, who survives.
Other survivors include two children, Brad (Carol) Bryan and Hollie (Jeff) Petersen of Libertyville, Ill.; two brothers, Kenneth (Avian) Bryan of Lima and James (Patricia) Bryan of Delphos; three sisters, Leota Rybicki, Ruby Bryan and Mary Neuman of Delphos; five grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Wilson, Paul (Rhonda) Petersen, Nicole Whitten, Shawn (Stephen) Kueber and Christopher Bryan; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bryan was a retired operating engineer in Lake County and a member of Local 150. He was a member of Abundant Life Church in Round Lake. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
Funeral services were April 10 with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.

Howard Leis
April 22, 1909 - April 14, 2004
Howard Leis, 94, of Elida, died at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday at Vancrest Health Care Center, Delphos.
He was born April 22, 1909 in Amanda Township, to Jesse Moore and Cora May (Miller) Leis.
On May 27, 1930, he married Opal Marie Baker, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Don (Phyllis) Leis of Elida; two nephews, Scott Leis and Lynn (Linda) Miller; three grandchildren, Brad (Ginny) Leis, Mike (Cindy) Leis and Jeni Leis; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Leis was a retired teacher and school administrator. He taught at Jennings Township country schools in Van Wert for three years. During World War II he was superintendent at Elida. He was at Elida Local Schools from 1931 to 1968, during which time he was a teacher, baseball and basketball coach, principal and athletic director. During that time, he also worked summers at Superior Coach and the U.S. Tank Plant. He taught at Fort Wayne Community School from 1968 to 1975 and was a Real Estate broker from 1975 to 1990. He was a 1927 graduate of Spencerville High School, a 1937 graduate of Ohio Northern University and a 1947 graduate of Indiana University. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a life member of the NEA and OEA, a member of the Elks Lodge and Eagles and served on the Elida Board of Public Affairs.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Harter and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Elida.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

William Merschman

William 'Bill' Merschman, 95, of Delphos, died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
He was born Dec. 23, 1908 in Cloverdale, to Frank and Katherine (Klima) Merschman.
He married Elizabeth Martin, who died Oct. 29, 1993.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Merschman in 1969; four brothers, Lawrence, Harry, Al and Leo Merschman; and four sisters, Clara Landwehr, Anna Krontz, Mary Wallen and Veronica Kartcher.
Mr. Merschman retired from Fruehauf, where he worked as a security guard. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic and Delphos Eagles Aerie 471. He enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards at the Senior Citizen Center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Harter and Son Funeral Home, the Rev. Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Lawrence Hoehn

Lawrence 'Larry' Hoehn, 82, of Ottoville, died at 12:57 p.m. Monday at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1922 in Ottoville, to Andrew and Rosa (Weber) Hoehn.
Survivors include two brothers, John J. Hoehn of Glandorf and Walter (Betty) Hoehn of Lima; two sisters, Ann Bonifas of Ottoville and Hilda Menker of Englewood; 24 nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Mr. Hoehn worked for Gordon's Produce, at Rusco in Pandora for many years and retired from Remlinger Manufacturing, Kalida. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the Ottoville VFW Post 3740 and Delphos Eagles Lodge 471. He enjoyed polka dancing and was an avid card player.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. Tony Borgia officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville, with military graveside rites conducted by the Ottoville VFW Post 3740.

Kermit C. May, 66, of Elida, died at 12:03 p.m. Friday at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born July 27, 1937, in Allen County, to Gerald Nathaniel and Adda Mae (Sawmiller) May.
On May 18, 1963, he married Ruth Johns, who survives in Elida.
Other survivors include five sons, Craig A. (Lora) May of Columbus Grove, Michael D. (Sue) May and Randall S. (Kelly) Mason of Elida, Timothy L. (Linda) Mason of Marysville and Greg Mason of Lafollette, Tenn.; three daughters, Rebecca L. May of West Palm Beach, Fla., Sheila Y. Mason of Lafollette and Kathryn E. Mason of Tennessee; two brothers, L. Brooks (Jean) May of Delphos, and Lyle May of Connecticut; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Mr. May retired from Ford Motor Co., after 38 years of service and was also a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Jefferson St. Baptist Church and was a church trustee. He was a 1955 Elida High School graduate. He was a member of the Elida Young Farmers and an honorary member of the Elida FFA. He coached Midget Football for 15 years and loved spending time at the Allen County Fair. He was a past member of the Elida Lions Club. He loved being outdoors, camping and enjoyed helping others.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Pastor Christopher Page officiated. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.

Edwin M. Potthoff

Edwin M. Potthoff, 91, of Cloverdale, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 26, 1913 in Cloverdale, to Theodore and Margaret (Krieger) Potthoff.
On Nov. 18, 1943, he married Virginia Schulte, who survives in Cloverdale.
Other survivors include three sons, Martin (Sue) Potthoff of Lima, Mark (Marilyn) Potthoff of Glandorf and John (Jill) Potthoff of Leipsic; two daughters, Carol (Ed) Mansfield of Lima, and Marge (Mike) Kosch of Continental; two sisters-in-law, Marcille Potthoff of Norwood and Marie Potthoff of Cridersville; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Henry Potthoff.
Mr. Potthoff retired in 1978 as electronics maintenance supervisor with GTE Sylvania in Ottawa. He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale, and its Holy Name Society. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served in the 557 Air Service on Ryukuku Island and IE in the South Pacific. He was former mayor and councilman in Cloverdale and a member of the Catholic Knights of Ohio, American Legion Post 541 of Continental and the Quarter Century Club.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Barbara Catholic Church, the Rev. Robert Kill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 541.

Robert L. Sawmiller

Robert L. 'Bobby' Sawmiller, 56, of Spencerville, died at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Rita's Medical Center. He had been a resident of Vancrest Care Center for the past five years.
He was born Sept. 22, 1947 in Celina, to Arthur L. and Mildred L. (Rempfer) Sawmiller, both deceased.
He is survived by two brothers, Kenneth W. (Mary) Sawmiller and Paul E. (Jean) Sawmiller of Spencerville, and a sister, Luella (Robert H.) Grothouse of Delphos, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Willis F. 'Bill' Sawmiller.
Mr. Sawmiller was a member of the Monticello United Brethren in Christ Church and had attended the Robin Rogers School for several years. He was also active in the Boy Scout program.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery, south of Monticello.

Sr. Alma Ricker

Sr. Alma Ricker, 77, of the Sisters of St. Francis in Tiffin, died at 12:35 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born Oct. 22, 1926 in Fort Jennings, to Charles M. and Helen (Bensman) Ricker.
Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Ricker of Fort Jennings and Sr. Edna Ricker a Tiffin Franciscan; a brother, James Ricker of Fort Jennings; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Ricker.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Philip.
Sr. Alma served in various ministries: as a teacher at Miller City, Custar, Edgerton, Carey, Payne, New Washington and Landeck; as a house of prayer member in Michigan; as a receptionist and driver at St. Francis Convent; as a homemaker in Napoleon; and at the time of her death, a minister of prayer. She loved the Church and religious life and enjoyed spending time with community members. She liked angel pins and wore them often. She enjoyed crafts, especially crocheting, plastic canvas work and sewing, and shared her handiwork with others. She was especially interested in farming. She attended many farm meetings and compiled a scrapbook. She enjoyed animals, including Brownie and Susie. When she was young, she enjoyed chickens and even put them in a buggy and pushed them around the farmyard, according to her sisters.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Convent Chapel, 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, 44883. Burial will be in the convent cemetery.

Vernon S. German, 78, of Delphos, died at 5:55 a.m. Monday at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 29, 1925 in Delphos, to Leo and Regina (Wurst) German.
He had formerly been married to Carolyn R. (Wiechart) Dray, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Charles V. (Donna) German and William G. (Marilee) German of Delphos; five daughters, Debra (Larry Zimmerman) Hall of Harrisburg, Pa., Mary (Frank) Sanchez, Susanne (Gary) Schwinnen and Patricia (Ben) Boyer of Delphos, and Julie (Tom) Siefker of Elida; three brothers, Al (Mary) German, Robert (Marilyn) German and Carl (Monica) German of Delphos; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John C. German; and a grandson, Eric Sanchez.
Mr. German retired in 1984 after 35 1/2 years from United Telephone Installation and Repair and continued to help friends and family with telephone repairs. He also worked part time at Fettig's Flowerland. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and a member of the Delphos Eagles, Delphos Sportsman's Club and American Legion. He volunteered as a Delphos firefighter for 25 years and was in the Military Order of Cootie. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a company clerk. He was in the Jim's Restaurant Long Table Liars Club and enjoyed gardening, fishing and making wine.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Revs. Thomas Gorman and William Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

He was born April 8, 1918 in Lima, to Oscar T. and Cora (Gaberdiel) Redick.
On Sept. 21, 1941, he married Maxiene Snider, who died July 15, 2003.

Hubert A. Niedecken
May 16, 1916 - March 31, 2004
Hubert Anthony 'Tony-Pete' Niedecken, 87, of Delphos, died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Middletown Regional Hospital.
He was born May 16, 1916 in Delphos, to Anthony J. and Amelia R. (Thiltges) Niedecken.
On June 25, 1955, he married Jean Ann Omlor, who died Aug. 2, 1998.
Survivor include a daughter, Nancy (Cory) Raasch of Fort Collins, Colo.; a son, Robert 'Bob' (Jill) Niedecken of Indian Springs; and four grandchildren, Amy and Brian Raasch of Fort Collins, and Evan and Kylie Niedecken of Indian Springs.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Hullinger Evans.
Mr. Niedecken was co-owner of the Niedecken Fruit Market of Delphos, worked at the Lima Ordnance Depot and retired from the Delphos Post Office in 1980 after 20 years of service. During World War II he served as a Staff Sergeant with the 751st Tank Battalion in the European Theater, where he took part in the African campaign. He was wounded in action by a land mine in Algiers, North Africa. He received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star Medal. He attended St. John's High School and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a life member of the DAV of Ohio, and the VFW Post 3035 and a member of the American Legion Post 268. He was an avid race car fan and enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, where a parish wake will be at 2 p.m.
Cody D. Miller Sr.
June 21, 1932 - March 31, 2004
Cody D. Miller Sr., 71, of Cairo, died at 4:44 a.m. Wednesday at his residence.
He was born June 21, 1932, in Lima, to Clarence I. and Lenna A. (Anderson) Miller.
On July 10, 1953, he married Nedra Walther, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, Cody D. (Karen) Miller Jr. of Lima; three daughters, Kay (Craig) Dreslinski of Norton, Gay (Rick) Gillespie of Aurora and Beth (Tim) Spradlin of Cairo; a brother, Timothy I. (Michelle) Miller of Doylestown; a sister, Jo A. Allen of Naples, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Miller retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant, and owned and operated Lake Cody Camp Ground and Cody Too RV Sales in Cairo. He was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was also a member of the Cairo American Legion, the Over the Hill Gang, International and BPOE 54 in Lima. He was a sportsman, enjoyed fishing and loved to snow ski and spent his winters in Summit County, Colo., where he was an active member of the Senior Citizens. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted.
Friends may call 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
