David Baker
David H. Baker, 73, of Oxford, died Sunday, June 10, at Glen Meadows Nursing Home, Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Baker.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church of Oxford. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Hayward Buchanan
Hayward J. Buchanan, 71, of Middletown, died Tuesday, June 12, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Buchanan; sons, Danny, Jeff and Curt Buchanan; and daughter, Glenna Crow.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, 1500 Manchester Ave., Middletown. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mervin Clemons Sr.
Mervin Clemons Sr., 84, of Middletown, died Tuesday, June 12, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Clemons; son, Mervin Clemons Jr.; and daughter, Beverly Ann Dowler.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Monroe First Church of God, 100 East Ave., Monroe. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
Edward Ditmyer
Edward G. Ditmyer, 85, of Middletown, died Sunday, June 10, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his sisters, Edith Lindauer and Margaret Jarrendt.
He served in the military during World War II.

Frank Kokoski
Frank Kokoski, 79, of Middletown, died Tuesday, June 12, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Kokoski; and sons, Robert and John Kokoski.

Hazel Martin
Hazel M. Martin, 90, of Hamilton, died Saturday, June 9, in Woodridge Manor Care, Fairfield.

Elizabeth Selby
Elizabeth "Betty" Selby, 76, of Middletown, died Monday, June 11, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Selby; son, Ronald Selby; and daughter, Beverly Peters.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, Middletown, is in charge of arrangements.
Elva Dees
Elva Dees, age 82, of Huntington Court, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. Born in Clay County, Kentucky, on May 11, 1919, she was the daughter of George Hicks and Bessie (Pennington) Hicks Grubb. Elva married Benjamin H. Dees on December 5, 1936, in Clay County, Kentucky and he preceded her in death in 1983. She was a member of Laurel Creek Baptist Church, Clay County Kentucky.
Mrs. Dees is survived by her children, Dolly Gill and her husband Jack of Hamilton, Lee R. Dees and his wife Lois of Hamilton, Effie Simpson and her husband George of Phoenix, Arizona, Gloria Ziegler of Hamilton, Claudia Gentile and her husband Dave of Hamilton and Bessie Burden of Hamilton; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Hobert Grubb, Hubert Grubb, Doris Jean Bird, all of Kentucky, Eilleen Barrett and Laura Steely, both of Cincinnati; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Vernon Grubb; three daughters, Jessie Ann Dees, Buleah Jean Dees and Faye Mills; two grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be held at the Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 12 Noon on Thursday June 14, 2001, with Rev. Ernie Murray officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Garret J. Boone, Jr.
A memorial service for Garret J. Boone, Jr., formerly of Hamilton, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Hamilton. An Informal gathering at Boone & Jerry's, 821 North E. Street, Richmond, Indiana. Boone 68 passed away March 11, 2001, he was the son of the late Garret J. Boone M.D. and Carolyn M. Boone of Hamilton.
Louis R. Wolf
Louis R. Wolf, age 100, formerly of 421 Millikin Street, Hamilton passed away in Mercy Franciscan at Schroder Tuesday June 12, 2001, at 12:30 a.m. He was born in Cincinnati on October 27, 1900, the son of Frank N. and Carolyn (Ast) Wolf. Louis was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church for more than 60 years, was employed for 55 years in sales and retired from Savage Auto Parts in 1972. On November 5, 1935, in Hamilton, he was married to Mary E. Huser and she preceded him in death in 1990.
He is survived by three nieces, Mary Margaret Kurtz of Fairfield, Esther Hynes of Middletown, Romilda Carpenter of Hamilton, and also by three nieces and one nephew of his late wife, Therese Schanding of Hamilton, Mary Ellen Wittekind of Cincinnati, Mary Martha Puthoff of Cincinnati and John Lagedrost of Mundelein, Illinois and also by a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard J. Wolf and two sisters, Louise Miller and Helen Wedder.
Family and friend are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The family request memorials to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Schroder Manor Benevolent Society or St. Vincent De Paul Society. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice of Cincinnati for their loving care and compassion.
Betty J. Spencer
Betty J. Spencer, age 61, of Williamsdale, passed away in University Hospital on June 12, 2001, at 4:44 a.m. She was born in Greenup, Kentucky, on July 28, 1939. Betty was employed for the Bonanza Dairy Bar for 5 years, retiring in 2000. On March 31, 1970, in Hamilton, she married Brack Spencer, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Brack Spencer, Jr. of Williamsdale; her mother, Katheryn Rose of Oxford; two daughters, Vickie Tribby and her husband Charles and Tina Adams, both of Hamilton; two sisters, Gail Baker and her husband Edmon of Hamilton and Alene Iutzwig of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Mike and Stanley Bippus.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, Friday June 15, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marvin Sams, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Ross, officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Doris M. Miles
Doris M. Miles age 77, died on Tuesday June 12, 2001, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She had been a resident in assisted living at the Hawthorne Glen Care Facility for three months before entering the hospital and a resident of Trenton since 1988. She was an active member of the Trenton Christian Church. Doris lived in Hamilton from 1953 to 1968 and was a homemaker and mother of two sons, who both grew up in Hamilton. She and her family were very active in the North 7th St. Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, worked with youth groups and sang in the choir.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon E. Miles, with whom she celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary this past Christmas; two sons, D.R. (Jan) Miles of Kennewick, Washington and Wayne (Sharon) Miles of Trenton; four grandchildren Teresa (Joe) Coscarart of Yakima, Washington, Amy (David) Carder of Las Vegas, Nevada, Melina (David) Hall of Kennewick, Washington and John (Jessie) Miles of New York City, New York; seven great grandchildren, Andy, Jessica, Jacob and Eliza Carder, Tessie Jo and Zachariah Coscarart and Elijah Hall; two brothers; and three sisters. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 14, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at Kowalk Funeral Home-Rose Hill Chapel, 2565 Princeton Road, Hamilton, with David Hopkins, Minister with the Trenton Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Park. Friends may visit Wednesday evening June 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alter Lee Brooks
Alter Lee Brooks age 90, of 1128 Lane Street, passed away at his residence, Saturday evening. A native of Troy, Alabama, he was the son of the late Algie and Bessie Howard Rumph. A long time employee of the Leshner Corporation, he worked in supervision after retiring, he became an insurance agent with the Supreme Life Insurance Agency building up a large group of policyholders and customers in the Hamilton area. He was a member of the 1929 Hamilton High School football team which was undefeated and won the state championship. A stalwart member of the Pilgrim Baptist church, he was also active in the Toussaint Lodge #19, F&AM, PHA. His wife, Josie Rawls Brooks, passed away June 26, 1998. Affectionately known to his friends as "Coke Rumph", he was an active participant in the community and church affairs, and always strove for self enhancement and betterment, and for the uplifting of his family, educationally, culturally and spiritually.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Israel of Hamilton, Mrs. LaVerne Braddell (Leon Sr.) of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and Alberta Holston (L. Lanell) of Fairfield, Ohio; one brother, George Brooks (Carrie) of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Ella Nora Harris of Cleveland, Ohio and Flora Rodgers of Troy, Alabama; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, 713 S. Fourth Street, with Rev. Dr. Norman L. Townsel officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Arrangements are by Green-Hall and Jordan Memorial Chapel, 532 S. Second Street.
Helen Y. Hamilton
Helen Y. Hamilton, age 87, of Columbus, formerly of Hamilton, Ohio born November 25, 1913, passed away Monday June 11, 2001, at Laurels of Norworth. Helen graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and was a retired elementary teacher, having taught many years in Hamilton Ohio School Systems.
Helen is survived by her sons, Richard L. Hamilton of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ronald G. (Klara) Hamilton of Dortmund, Germany; her daughter Sylvia Dorsey of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Kim and Kari Hamilton of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kenneth, Michael (Kristen) and Julie Dorsey of Columbus; and a great-grandson, Dean Dorsey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin C. Hamilton; parents, Sylvester and Therese Yochum and a sister, Thelma Y. Mulligan.
Graveside services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday June 15, 2001, at Camden Cemetery, Camden. Ohio. The family insists on no flowers. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Heart Association. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio.
Karen S. House
Karen S. House, age 41, went to be with our heavenly father on June 10, 2001, after suffering a massive stroke while attending a business conference. She passed away at Tulane University Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana. Born on October 28, 1959, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of David and Geraldine (Allen) House. Karen was a Valedictorian of the 1978 graduating class of New Miami High School. She was a graduate of Miami University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1982, graduating magna cum laude and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership in 1983. Karen was a dedicated employee of Miami University of Hamilton serving as Director, Continuing Education and Business and Industry Center. She was a long-time member of Tri-County Baptist Church. Karen was a very active in the community, serving on several boards and committees, including Greater Hamilton Business Expo 2001 Planning Committee, the Small Business Development Center, 2001 and 2002 Kids' Health Fair Planning Committees, Lifelong Learning Task Force in City of Hamilton's Vision 2020 planning process, board member and alumni participant, Leadership Hamilton activities and Southeastern Butler County Chamber Leadership 21 Program. She served as chairperson of Continuing Education Directors networking group, Greater Cincinnati consortium of Colleges and Universities, Conference Services Committee, and Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association Constitution and Bylaws Committee, 2001-2002. She was a member of University Continuing Education Association, American Society for Training and Development-Cincinnati Chapter, Greater Consortium of Colleges and Universities-Continuing Education Directors. She served as past president of Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association 1995-1996, and was re-elected to a second two-year term to serve as Treasurer of University Continuing Education Association.
Karen is survived by her loving family, including her mother, Geraldine of Hamilton; her brother, James D. House and his wife Mary of Hamilton; her sister, Donna J. Lindy and her husband Rudy of Fairfield; brother, David L. House II of Hamilton. She was the devoted aunt of Jenna and Ryan Lindy, Joseph, Emily and Rachel House. Her father, David L. House preceded her in death on August 1999. She will be greatly missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues and associates.
