Margaret N. Rife
Mrs. Margaret N. Rife, 78, of 2202 Queen Ave., died Wednesday evening, Aug. 23, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
She was born in Winchester, Ky., on Sept. 2, 1921, the daughter of Robert and Ida (Adams) Jackson, and lived in this area most of her life. She was retired from Alfy's Restaurant where she worked for many years as a cook.
Mrs. Rife is survived by nieces and nephews, Darlene Stuva, Carol Price, Sandra Neal, John Bolden, Arthur Neal, Russell Neal, Tom Brown, Joyce Mockabee, Ada Sears and Helen Haag, all of Middletown; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and her good friend, Polly Brown.
Her husband, Gilbert Rife, preceded her in death in 1976.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Darrell Bolden officiating. Friends may call from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery.
Roger B. Rogers
Roger B. Rogers, 92, of Middletown, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Barbara Parke Extended Care Center.
He was born in Quicksand, Ky., on Feb. 11, 1908, and had lived here since 1952. Mr. Rogers was employed in the maintenance department at Armco Steel Co. for 23 years and retired in 1975. He was a member of Lincoln Masonic Lodge 693 of Middletown and Scottish Rite. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
He leaves a son, George (Georginna) Rogers of Middletown; two grandchildren, Diana Thomas of Middletown and Marty (Marla) Rogers of Franklin; and seven great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, with graveside committal services at 3:30 p.m. in Quicksand, Ky. Pastor C. Betty Lou Sevilla
Former Middletown resident Betty Lou (Dyer) Sevilla, 66, of Edgewood, Ky., died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000.
Betty was born in Watertown, N.Y. and had lived in Watertown, Pensacola, Fla., Findlay and Middletown, Ohio, and most recently, in Edgewood, Ky. Betty was a graduate of Tate High School in Pensacola, Fla., and Sacred Heart Nursing School in Pensacola. She was a registered nurse and had retired from her job at the St. Elizabeth South Hospital operating room in Edgewood, Ky.
Her parents, Howard J. Dyer and Elaine G. (Schaffer) Dyer preceded her in death.
She was the devoted mother of three children, Elizabeth M. Cleves of Edgewood, Ky., Kathleen A. Strack of West Chester, Ohio, and Mark H. Sevilla of Lexington, Ky. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Timothy L Strack of West Chester; and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Strack.

Melvin F. Stang
Melvin Frank Stang, 85, of Mount Pleasant Retirement Village, Monroe, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000. Mr. Stang was a World War II Army veteran.
He was the dear brother of Viola Wahman and the late Ruth Bornemann, Vera, Robert H. and William Stang; and sister-in-law of Mary F. Stang.

Jessie L. Tucker
CAMDEN -- Mrs. Jessie Lorine Tucker, 78, of Camden, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
She was born in Bunners Ridge, W.Va., on June 6, 1922, to Leroy and Cora (Moran) Musgrove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ray Tucker in 1983.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by a daughter, Karen Lansaw of Middletown, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Della Tucker; three grandchildren, Amber Lansaw of Westerville, Ohio, and Nathan and Lori Tucker of Somerville, Ohio; a sister, Barbara Morgan of Morgantown, W.Va.; a brother, Richard Musgrove of Fairmont W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also deceased are her parents; a grandson, William R. Lansaw Jr.; a son-in-law, William R. Lansaw; three brothers, Nathan, Orville and Ralph Musgrove; and a sister, Bernedine Jacobs.

Lena W. Turner
Mrs. Lena W. Turner, 86, of 4416 Hannah Drive, passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 22, 2000, in Fredericksburg, Va.
She was born in West Liberty, Ky., on Jan. 26, 1914, a daughter of Frank and Eva (Dennison) Goad, and lived most of her life in this area. She had formerly worked for the Eversharpe Co. and later Pogue's, G.C. Murphy's and Rink's Fabric Shop. She was a longtime member of the Towne Boulevard Church of God.
Mrs. Turner is survived by two daughters, Virginia Rezos of Middletown and Josephine Kuser of Spotsylvania, Va.; a son, Harold Turner of Middletown; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Hoffer of Marion, Ohio; and a brother, Sam Goad of Grants Pass, Ore.
Her husband, Edward B. Turner, preceded her in death in 1988.

E.D. Williams
E.D. Williams, 70, of Lantana, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, at John F. Kennedy Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla.
He was born on July 10, 1930, in Dover, Tenn. He moved to Middletown, Ohio, when he was 16 years of age with his parents, Monroe and Sula (Wallace) Williams. Mr. Williams worked for a while at Crystal Tissue Co. He was the owner/operator of Ed's Sinclair Service at Crawford and Woodlawn Streets. He moved to Florida in 1967 and was in the construction business until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mae Williams; three daughters, Susan King of Middletown, and Gayle (Mac) McKibben, and Jennifer (James) Steele of Wilmington, Ohio; three sons, Gregory (Roz) Williams and Jeffery (Kim) Williams, both of Middletown, and Dewayne (Janet) of Raleigh, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Teresa (Rick) Mayo of Orlando, Fla., Evelyn Lingerfelot of York, S.C., and Juanita (Todd) Neimy of Palm Beach Garden, Fla.; and three sisters, Louise Wallace of Clarksville, Tenn., and Rosa Ross and Lottie Jewell Lewis, both of Dover, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Miles Anderson Taylor; three brothers, Raymond and Lonnie Williams, both of Dover, Tenn., and Brady Williams of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and three sisters, Elvie Harrison and Eva Ronto, both of Middletown, and Helen Allen of St. Louis, Mo.

James M. Zinck
FRANKLIN -- James Michael Zinck, 54, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his residence.
He was born on July 18, 1946, in Middletown, Ohio, the son of Wilbur and Lena (Hurtt) Zinck. He was employed at Groceryland of Dayton for six years. Mr. Zinck was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Franklin and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 4014.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Wilbur and Lena Zinck; a sister, Norma; and two brothers, Tom and Jerry Zinck.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Priscilla (South) Zinck; children Shane, at home, Charmin of Middletown, Lisa of Dayton, Ruby of Gratis, Pennie of Franklin, Jimmy of Lewisburg, Ky., and April of Russellville, Ky.; brothers Don of Florida, Calvin of Franklin, Raymond of Carlisle, Ken of Germantown, Dale of West Carrollton and Paul of Franklin; a sister, Shirley of Franklin; and 14 grandchildren.

Benjamin W. Brooks
Benjamin Wesley Brooks, 27, of Middletown, died in the emergency room at Middletown Regional Hospital Tuesday morning, Aug. 15, 2000.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1972, the son of Jerry Lee Brooks and Grace Deborah Hardy. He was employed by Domino's Pizza as a delivery driver.
He is survived by his mother, Debbie Hardy, and his father, Jerry Brooks, both of Middletown; a brother, Jeremy, and his wife, Diva Brooks, of Middletown; two nephews, Matthew and James Brooks; and his fiancé¬ Tonia Scoville of Middletown.

Maria (Pappas) Bugitzedes
Mrs. Maria (Pappas) Bugitzedes, 92, of Middletown, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 15, 1907, in Brussa, Asia Minor, but lived here most of her life. Mrs. Bugitzedes was the owner/operator of George's Grocery where she worked for more than 35 years. She was a 50-year member of Philoptochtos and a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
Maria arrived on Ellis Island from Greece on July 4, 1923, and later became a proud U.S. citizen. She was featured in several news articles including a story in the Los Angeles Times.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Bugitzedes on May 15, 1985; her parents, the Rev. Father Christopher and Maria Pappas (he was the first Greek Orthodox priest in Middletown); brothers Andrew Pappas, George Pappas, Jim Pappas, Nick Pappas and Frank Pappas; sisters Katina, Patricia and Kiki of Greece; a nephew, Frank Pappas; and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by sons Jim A. Bugitzedes (Marian) of Franklin, Ohio, and John Richard "Bugs" Bugitzedes (Anita) of Franklin; daughters Stella Bugitzedes, Irene Bugitzedes and Christine Risner, all of Middletown, and Nina Youtsler (Wilber) of Franklin; grandchildren Vincent Risner of Middletown, Patricia Bugitzedes of Los Angeles, Calif., Christina Bugitzedes of Cincinnati, Ohio, and John Christopher Bugitzedes of Franklin; special nieces Bessie Pappas, Nina Donaldson and Marilyn McEchron; several nieces and nephews; a goddaughter, Maria Langendorf of Franklin; and a host of special adopted friends who called her "Mom and Yiayia."

Martha K. Campbell
Mrs. Martha Kathryn Campbell, 70, of Liberty Township, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at her home.
She was born on April 18, 1930, in Letcher County, Ky. She lived most of her life in Liberty Township. Martha worked for 28 years and retired from Jefferson-Smurfit. She was well respected and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Calvin W. Campbell, and his wife, Terri, of Springboro, Robert L. Campbell Jr., and his wife, Shelia of Trenton and Judith L. Murphy, and her husband, Bill, of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; siblings Elbert Whitaker, Harry Whitaker, Jesse Combs and Ida Bowling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Campbell in 1995; and siblings R.B. Whitaker, Kurl Whitaker, Thelma Croucher, Hester Combs, Dana Lawson and Mac Whitaker.

Robert S. Cape
Robert S. Cape, 73, of Middletown, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on April 12, 1927, to the late Sidney Newton Cape and Rose (Wetzel) Cape. Mr. Cape was a member of St. John's Church of Holy Family Parish. He was employed at Sorg Paper Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1988.
Robert served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 218. The Honor Guard of American Legion Post 218 will provide military services.
Surviving are four sons, Fredrick T. (Brenda) Cape and John A. (Tina) Cape, both of Middletown, Daniel T. Cape of California and Joseph E. (Terra) Cape of Madison Township; a daughter, Susan M. Allen of Madison Township; a brother, Edward Cape of Monroe; two sisters, Mildred Burk of Madison Township and Virginia German of LaPuente, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Cape in 1993; his parents; and a son, Jeffery Michael Cape in 1989.

Delphia Carpenter
FRANKLIN -- Mrs. Delphia Carpenter, 77, of 7080 Shaker Road, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at her residence.
She was born on Dec. 21, 1922, in Clairborne County, Tenn., the daughter of Joe and Lula Griffen. She was employed for 15 years by Franklin City Schools as a custodian, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, on Dec. 31, 1999; and five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Carl Ray Carpenter, and his wife, Lucille, and Gary Joe Carpenter, and his wife, Debbie, all of Franklin; a sister, Velva Cook of Franklin; five grandchildren, Greg, Lisa, Leslie and David Carpenter, all of Franklin, and Tammy Mullins of Waynesville; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah Mullins.

Carl Furnas
Carl Davis Furnas, 90, of Middletown died Friday, Aug. 18, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He was born March 26, 1910, to John R. and Eva Furnas of Covington, Ohio.
He was an employee of AK Steel for over 30 years, had formerly worked for Jackson Tubing in Piqua, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Temple.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Catherine M. Furnas, in 1996.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Hall (husband Tom) of Cincinnati, Carlene Ryan (husband Robert) of Piqua, Eva Hymer (husband Lester), and Roberta Furnas of Cincinnati; a son, Robert Furnas (wife Anita) of Franklin; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; a sister Esther Perry of Covington, Ohio; and a brother, George Furnas (wife Dorothy) of Troy.

Toleman Griffin
FRANKLIN -- Toleman Griffin, 82, of 65 Sunny Lane, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He was born in Clay County, Ky., on May 30, 1918, the son of Theo and Eva (Hibberd) Griffin. Mr. Griffin was employed in maintenance at C.F. Vishman Co. in Louisville, Ky., and retired in 1983.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Lucille, in 1992; two brothers, Robert and Ed Griffin; and three sisters, Elsie, Sophie and Salley.
He graduated from the Louisville School for the Blind. He was a member of Eastern Star Lodge 55 Free & Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite, the Shriners in Dayton and Louisville, St. Matthew's Baptist Church in Louisville, and the Trinity Family Fellowship in Hamilton.
Surviving are two sisters, Helen Sullivan of Franklin and Evelyn Embry of Hamilton.

Daniel M. Haskins
Daniel Mars Haskins, 83, of Middletown, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Aug. 15, 2000, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born in Troy, Ohio, on Jan. 26, 1917, the son of Charles and Laura (McCormick) Haskins and was a retired pipefitter for Dayton Press. Daniel was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific.
He is survived by his friend and companion, Florice Farmer of Trenton; daughters Sandra (Raymond) Eckhardt and Dianne (Terry) Halderman, both of Middletown, and Pamela (Larry) Long of Hide-A-Way Hills, Ohio; granddaughters Debra and Karen Oswald of Cincinnati, Bethany Morton of West Chester, Teresa (Craig) Patrick of Hamilton, Emily Miller of Hide-A-Way Hills, and Megan Halderman of Middletown; four great-grandchildren, Curtis and Libby Morton and Alyxandria and Chance Morton; and a sister, Ruby Tellis of Hemet, Calif.
He is also survived by many close friends, including John and Cathy Arnold, and their three children, Diana, Chris and Kevin, as well as close friends Carl and June Frinefrock, and their son, Tim, of Brookville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph E. Heck
Joseph E. Heck, 96, of Monroe died Thursday, Aug. 18 at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He was employed at Armco for 36 years in research. He was a senior analyst, research engineer in magnetic materials and was a co-author of three Armco patents. He retired in 1969. He attended DePaul University for over three years and earned a bachelor degree. He attended Purdue, earning a master's degree and his doctorate. He was an assistant instructor in chemistry while attending Purdue. He also took courses at University of Cincinnati and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was president of the Lions Club from 1960 to 1961, a member of the school board from 1948 to 1956 and served as board president for five years. In 1957 he served on the Better Schools Committee, as trustee of Monroe Methodist Church and superintendent of the Sunday school. He was the chairman of the finance commission. He was a member of the Monroe Religious Council, Sigma Xi, Phi Lambda Upsilon, Professional Engineers, American Society of Metals, American Chemical Society, American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, technical operating discussion group in 1954 and Theta Xi fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann; his parents Harlan and Rosalinda Heck; a brother, Webster Heck and a granddaughter, Leslie Heck.
Survivors include a son, Charles Bennett (wife Joyce) Heck of Connecticut; three daughters, Joann (husband Roger) Kersh of Cincinnati, Rosemary A. Hunter of Zanesville and Linda Fern Cochran of Monroe; a brother, Charles Heck of Connersville, Ind.; three sisters, Florence Evans of Indianapolis, Mae Stelle of Dayton, and Ellen Hiatt of Bloomington, Ind.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Harry M. Huber
Harry Michael Huber, 89, formerly of 907 Mimosa Court A, Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at the Lebanon Country Manor.
He was born in Reading, Ohio, on Aug. 15, 1911, the son of John Adam and Elizabeth (Fisher) Huber. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan. Mr. Huber was employed by the Reading Police Department as a police officer for 26 years, retiring in 1969.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert Huber, and a sister, Ruth Duffy.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velma (Kirk) Huber; a daughter, Elaine Schneider of Franklin; a sister, Charlotte Kamm of Seattle, Wash.; a grandchild, Mary Schneider; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles R. Lane
Charles R. Lane, 79, a resident of the Garden Manor Retirement Community, died Sunday morning, Aug. 20, 2000.
He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, on Oct. 9, 1920, a son of Edward and Matilda (Bird) Lane and was retired from Armco Steel Co. He and his wife, Georgia, made their home for many years at 1907 Queen Ave. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Larinda Scragg (husband Rickey) of Middletown; a grandson, Jody "Joe" Wilhoit of Middletown; a great-granddaughter, Katie Wilhoit; two sisters, Martha Handley of Chester, W.Va., and Laura Tittle of East Liverpool, Ohio; and a brother, Eddie Lane of Palm Springs, Calif.
Mr. Lane's wife, Georgia, preceded him in death last September.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 22, at the Grace Baptist Church, with the Rev. Howard Sears officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in Grace Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home.
Grace Lithgo
Grace Lithgo, 76, of Middletown died Saturday at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born on June 6, 1924, in Falkirk, Scotland and lived in Middletown since 1961. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lithgo in 1976.
She will be missed by her sisters, Joyce and Marian, and family in England.
ARRANGEMENTS: Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Woodside Cemetery. Arrangements were by Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home.

Freda S. Manning
GERMANTOWN -- Mrs. Freda S. Manning, 71, of Orange Park, Fla., formerly of Germantown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in Jacksonville, Fla.
Freda was born in Middletown, Ohio, on March 24, 1929, to George and Pearl (Gilbert) Gentry.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John (Jack) Manning; four brothers, George, Paul and Jon Gentry, all of Germantown, and Ed Gentry of West Middletown; and three sisters, Louise Wyatt of Poasttown and Katherine Gentry and Judy King, both of Germantown.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Arpp & Root Funeral Home in Germantown, with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Burial will be in Germantown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the funeral home.

Maudie Mae McCarty
Maudie Mae McCarty, 89, of Willow Knoll Retirement Community and formerly of Bath County, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, after a long illness.
Mrs. McCarty was born Oct. 6, 1910, to the late Thomas and Effie Lowery Craig.
She was a native of Bath County and a member of Church of God.
Surviving her are a daughter, Christine Bryant of Trenton; a son, Earl McCarty of Carlisle; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Taulbee McCarty Sr.; one son, Taulbee McCarty Jr.; and a sister, Nellie Withrow.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Richie Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery in Bethel, Ky.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ina Mae Sebastian
Ina Mae (Bacon) Sebastian, 71, went home to be with the lord after a courageous five-year battle with bone cancer. She died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000.
Those she left behind will forever be blessed by her presence and forever saddened by her absence.
She was born in Hamilton on Jan. 20, 1929, the daughter of Perry and L. Nettie Wells.
She is survived by daughters, Wonnet (husband John) Lamb of Springboro and Deborah (husband Dale) Long of Trenton; sisters, Mary (husband Rufus) of Mason, Marie Cantrell of Oregonia, Dorothy Shearer of Middletown and Alta Chester of Lebanon; grandchildren, Scott Lamb, John (wife Nancy) Lamb II, Brandon (wife Dawn) Long and Bethanie Long; great-grandchildren, Kyle Lamb, Kaleb Tabor, Payron Lamb and Meshayla Long.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marcus H. Bacon and Roy Sebastian; four brothers and a sister.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the family and friends for being there and especially her nurses, Trudy and Kay; and doctors, Balcerzak, Sherman and Gordon.

Thomas H. Stubbs
Thomas H. Stubbs, 57, of Middletown died Friday, Aug. 18, at Miami Valley Hospital.
He was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Middletown, the son of the late Thomas H. Stubbs and Edith (Remle) Stubbs.
He received his bachelor's degree from Duke University in 1964 and a juridoctorate from the University of Cincinnati School of Law in 1969. He served for the last 15 years as magistrate in Butler County Domestics Relations Court. He has been city law director in Trenton since 1972. Earlier in his career, he practiced law in Middletown with his late father. He was an early volunteer in the Peace Corps, teaching high school English in Akhisar, Turkey, from 1964 to 1966. He was an enthusiastic marathoner. He ran in as many as five marathons a year. He was a member of the YMCA's Street Striders running group.
Mr. Stubbs grew up attending the First Baptist Church of Middletown and continued to be active in the life of the church. He served on the board of deacons and trustees. He was chairman of the Nicaraguan mission team, traveling with the team a number of times to work in rural communities, and the day care committee. He served on finance committees, provided informal legal counsel, was chairman of the human resources committee, and was actively involved in fund-raising, volunteering enormous amounts of time and energy. He served on the board of the Doty House, coached soccer and helped with Midfest. He and his wife hosted numerous foreign students through Rotary International. He was a member of Jefferson Lodge F.&A.M.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Linda (Davies) Stubbs; his children, Cassy of Los Angeles, Calif., Toby of Lombard, Ill., and Tyler attending school in Illinois; three sisters, Connie of Newton, Mass., Kay of Managua, Nicaragua and Mary Jane of Arlington, Texas.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. C. Roland Marcus officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton.

Alberta Tatum
Mrs. Alberta (Sandlin) Tatum, formerly of Middletown, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at her home in Brooksville, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Maude Sandlin; and a sister, Izola Sandlin Brown, all formerly of Middletown.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; her two sons, Chris of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Gene Jr.; a daughter, Brenda Hobbis, also of Brooksville; a sister, Donna Sandlin Vandervort, formerly of Middletown, who now resides in St. Petersburg, Fla.; and also survived by 10 cousins who reside in the Middletown area.
Mrs. Tatum was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Brooksville, Fla.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Turner Funeral Home in Brooksville, Fla., with Pastor David Garcia officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Fla., at 2 p.m.
'Binnie' Tewel
Mrs. Mary Lavinia "Binnie" Tewel, 86, died quietly at her residence at Mount Pleasant Nursing Home in Monroe, Ohio, on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000.
Binnie was born on Jan. 4, 1914, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Floyd Ervin and Sara Crawford Ervin. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati and later married James Tewel on Dec. 29, 1939. Jim and Binnie celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last fall.
Binnie lived in Cincinnati until 1954 when she and Jim moved to Middletown. In 1988, she and Jim moved to Mount Pleasant Village in Monroe. She was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed caring for her family, knitting and bridge games with her friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed continuing education through the many Elderhostel programs that she attended with Jim.
Binnie will be missed by many friends and relatives, but especially, by the "Breakfast Club" during their Thursday morning breakfasts together.
She is survived and missed by her husband, Jim; a son, David Tewel, his wife, Janice, and their children, Scott and Evan of Spokane, Wash.; a daughter, Susan Holman, and her husband, Jim, and their children, Rachael, Jessica and Andy of Spokane; and a daughter, Karen Mitchell of Auburndale, Wis., and her children, David and Martha of Minneapolis, Minn. Binnie is also survived and missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death and now reunited with her parents, a brother, Jim Ervin, and sisters Dorothy Sanker and Margaret Young.

William A. Turner
FRANKLIN -- William A. Turner, 75, of 219 Oxford Road, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born on June 14, 1925, in Breathitt County, Ky., the son of Johnnie and Lucinda Turner. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Turner retired from Delco as a millwright and had also been employed with Miami Paper Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Clint, Greenberry and Wilgus.
William is survived by his wife, Stella; four daughters, Metrisha Hughes of Kettering, Diana Secrist of Berea, Ky., Linda Johnson of North Platte, Neb., and Peggy Shonebarger of Norfolk, Neb.; five brothers, Asberry of Franklin, Jesse of Indiana, John of Carlisle, Alex of West Virginia and Robert of Clarksville, Ohio; three sisters, Elizabeth Peck of Campton, Ky., Marjorie Baker of Clarksville, Stella Mae Haddix of Knox, Ind.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Juanita Webb
Juanita "Linda" Webb, 52, of 6880 Brandywine Drive, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1948, in Miami, Fla., the daughter of Willie and Alvetta (Perry) Floyd. She was an inspector for the Totes/Isotoner Company.
She is survived by her husband, James Sterling Webb Sr.; two daughters, Valerie D. Augustian and Leah Katrice Webb; four sons, Rodney Keith Webb, Jonathan Scott Webb, Jason Stewart Webb, and James Sterling Webb Jr.; five grandchildren, Ashley, Felicia, Mauricio, Brooklyn and Maxwell; an uncle, Warren Webb; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.

Nettie Anna Frazier Welch
Nettie Anna Frazier Welch, 87, of Mount Sterling, Ky., and formerly of Trenton, died Thursday, Aug. 17, at Windsor Nursing Home in Mount Sterling, Ky.
She was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Bath County, Ky., the daughter of Press and Mary Blevins. She married Thomas Gaines Frazier in 1936 and had five children. Thomas Frazier died in 1947. Nettie later married Perry Welch in 1957. Perry Welch died in 1977. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ.
She was the beloved mother of Tommy (wife Barbara) Frazier of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Trenton, Wendell (wife Thelma) Frazier of Mount Sterling, Carolyn (husband Jim) Willoughby of Monroe, Irma (husband Charles) Shepherd of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Jim (wife Paula) Frazier of Trenton. Survivors include sisters, Helen Wood of Middletown and Lucy Blevins of White House, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
