Verlin L. Pollock
EATON-Verlin L. Pollock, 62, of Eaton, Ohio, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind.He was born on Oct. 14, 1936, in Eaton, the son of the late Walter Herman and Charlotte Mildred (Stover) Pollock. Mr. Pollock was an over the road truck driver for Emerson Electric, Schneider Tank Lines, Kemper Cabinet and Zumstein, Inc. He was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School and served in the U.S. Army National Guard of Ohio from 1957 to 1961. He was a member of American Legion Post 215 and Eagles Lodge 2202, both of Eaton. Mr. Pollock enjoyed flying, farming, traveling, mechanics, camping, dancing and horses. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Marie Pollock in 1935 and Donna Jean Pollock in 1972; and a nephew, Michael K. Pollock in 1984. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mabel M. (Wilson) Pollock; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim A. and Bill Miley of Eaton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald K. and Arthella Pollock and Gordon W. and Becky Pollock, all of Eaton; and grandchildren, Troy D., Chad A. and Marcia M. Miley; and nephews nieces and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Barnes Funeral Home, Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, 3377 Ohio 35, West Alexandria, Ohio, with the Rev. Lillian Gillespie officiating. Interment will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, with military graveside services. The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the chapel.

Alice E. Rager
Alice E. Rager, 81, formerly of Eaton, passed away Friday morning Aug. 20, 1999 at the Butler County Care Facility in Hamilton. She was born to John E. and Laverna D. (Sommers) Rager on June 3, 1918 in Middletown. She enjoyed the last 5 1/2 years at the Butler County Care Facility where she made many friends who are saddened by her passing. She suffered a stroke on July 17, 1999. Prior to moving to Middletown in 1989, she, along with her brother and family, were dairy farmers on Ozias Road in Eaton and had been active in the Eaton Senior Citizens. Miss Alice is survived by two brothers, Archie Rager and wife Grace of Hamilton and John Rager and wife Margorie of Gratis; two sisters, Nellie Hosier of Wilmington and Florence Lanier and husband Milton of Zolfo Springs, Fla.; sister-in-law Doris Jean Rager of Franklin; a host of nieces and nephews, and devoted niece Janet Streit, with whom Alice spent many happy hours.Miss Rager was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ethel Ashmore and Mary Bennett, and two brothers, Alfred and Harold Rager.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, 3377 U.S. Route 35, West Alexandria, Ohio (located between West Alexandria and Eaton). Pastor Jack Lawson presiding. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth D. Reffitt
Mrs. Elizabeth D. Reffitt, 74, of 10 Kittison Drive, Winchester, Ky., widow of James William Reffitt, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at the Clark Regional Medical Center. A native of Menifee County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Stella Mae Ballard Downs. She was a retired cost accountant for the Miami Carey Corp. of Middletown, Ohio, a member of the Garden Gate Garden Club, Friends of the Library and Winchester Civitan Club. Mrs. Reffitt was also a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Winchester and a former member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Middletown, Ohio, where she served as church school teacher and superintendent, chairperson of the Commission of Education, chairperson of the Council on Ministers and was church treasurer. Survivors include two sisters, Jean Barnett of Winchester, Ky., and Lorena Shelton of Clark County, Ky.; four nieces, Deborah Nunnally of Louisville, Sue Wallin of Clark County, Sheila Abner of Harrison, Ohio, and Sharon Dickerson of Mount Tabor, N.J.; and several cousins and great-nieces.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Scobee Funeral Home, 219 W. Lexington Ave., Winchester, Ky., by the Revs. Deron Boyer and Don Barnett. Burial will be in Clairmont Memorial Gardens, Clark County. Pallbearers will be James and Sherman Barnett, Don Birch, Tommy Bunch, Raymond Greene and Rick Nunnally; honorary pallbearers will be Mike Wallin, Clayton Foley and members of the Elsie Sanders Sunday school class at Mount Zion United Methodist Church. John C. Requarth
FRANKLIN-John Crist Requarth, 73, of 222 Elm St., passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at his residence.He was born in Franklin, Ohio, on Nov. 19, 1925, the son of Grover H. and Marguerite (Castella) Requarth. He was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Requarth had been employed as an engineer at Monsanto where he worked for 30 years. He was a member and former deacon and elder of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springboro where he also served on the building and steering committees. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1943, he obtained a bachelor of science degree in engineering, math and physics from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA degree from Xavier University. He was a member of Eastern Star Lodge 55 Free & Accepted Masons, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 535 of Franklin, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and an Advisor for Demolay and Rainbow for Girls. Mr. Requarth also belonged to the Society of Professional Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers. He was a chief building inspector for the City of Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Among his survivors are his wife of 42 years, Virginia (Fiorino) Requarth of Franklin; a son, John G. Requarth of Atlanta, Ga.; and a daughter, Monique Requarth of Atlanta.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 415 N. Main St., Springboro, with the Rev. Ken Howard officiating. Entombment will be at Miami Valley Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with full military honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. and Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 8 p.m.

Nancy V. Sigler
Mrs. Nancy Ann Sigler, 53, of St. Clair, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at Beverly Health Care in Sullivan, Mo. She was born in Hazel Green, Ky., on Jan. 18, 1946, the daughter of Dempsey "Jack" Vance and Ruby (Hawthorne) Vance. Mrs. Sigler had been a human resource director in retail sales. She was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church in Gray Summit, Mo. Surviving are her husband, Arthur E. Sigler Jr. of St. Clair, Mo.; her father, Dempsey "Jack" Vance; her mother, Ruby Vance; two daughters, Michelle Pylant of St. Louis, Mo., and Melinda (Tom) Ferrington of Orlando, Fla.; four brothers, Huey (Phyllis) Higdon of Middletown; Karl (Jeanie) Vance of Oxford, Ohio; CSM Henry R. (Paula) Vance, U.S. Army, South Korea; and Mike (Jo Ann) Vance of Columbus; a sister, Betty (Bill) Meeks of Middletown; and five grandchildren; Brittany and Morgan Pylant; and Elizabeth, Lauren and Thomas J. Ferrington.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at noon Friday at the Truth Tabernacle Church, 6879 Hamilton Middletown Road, with the Rev. Daniel N. Hidlebaugh officiating. John Soppanish
John Soppanish, 84, of Middletown, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 16, 1999, at his residence. He was born in Lorain, Ohio, on Nov. 2, 1914, to Julius and Elizabeth (Horvath) Soppanish, and married Josephine Osust. Mr. and Mrs. Soppanish were married for 59 years. He served as an usher at St. John's Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1610 and the Knights of St. John and St. Paul, Commandery 59. Mr. Soppanish was formerly employed with Back-Clawson in Hamilton, Bearings Inc. (now Industrial Technologies) and was the former owner of Johnny's Pony Keg on Yankee Road for 32 years. Surviving are his wife, Josephine; a son, John P. (Eva) Soppanish of Middletown; a daughter, Jo Ann (Fred) Cranford of Middletown; a brother, William Soppanish of Parma Heights, Ohio; a sister, Julia Wallace of Lorain, Ohio; five grandchildren, John (Rhonda) Soppanish, Jennifer (Mark) Atkinson, William (Nicole) Soppanish and Freddie and Julie Cranford; and three great-grandchildren, Nicole Cranford and Nathan and John Earl Soppanish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Elizabeth Soppanish; a brother, Jack Carter; a sister, Betty Davies; and a brother, Louie Soppanish.

John R. Sparks
GERMANTOWN-John R. Sparks, 83, of Germantown, passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on March 9, 1916, in Gimlet, Ky., the son of Millard F. and Lula (Leedy) Sparks. He was a pipefitter, farmer and had retired from McGraw Construction Co. in 1979. Mr. Sparks served in the U.S. Army for more than four years during World War II, spending most of his time in Europe. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Luke and Lola Sparks and Gene Sparks; a sister, Nina Sparks; a nephew, Steven Sparks; and a granddaughter, A.M. Sparks. Among his survivors are his wife, Verna; a son, John D. Sparks of Washington, D.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Anne Sparks of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Denver and Garrel Armstrong of Mansfield, Ohio; and grandsons Andrew and Will Sparks of Cincinnati.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Arpp and Root Funeral Home in Germantown. Pastor Gary Woods will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of service.

Dr. Woodford Testerman
LEBANON-Dr. Woodford "Woody" C. Testerman, 78, a lifelong Warren County resident, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a 1939 graduate of Kings Mills High School. On Sept. 1, 1944, he graduated from the Ohio State University Dental School, married his first wife, Mary Garen Testerman and was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served for four years during World War II. Dr. Testerman practiced dentistry in Lebanon from 1948 to 1991. He was a member of the American, Ohio and Cincinnati Dental Associations. He was also a member of the Delta Sigma Dental Professional Fraternity at Ohio State and the Western Ohio Academy Dental Study Club. Dr. Testerman was a 51-year member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, a charter member and board member of the Lebanon YMCA, member of the Lebanon Elks, Free & Accepted Masons and the Lebanon Kiwanis, where he served as past president and was highly honored for his 50 years of perfect attendance. He was instrumental in beginning the Mary Haven Young Center and served on their board. Dr. Testerman enjoyed such activities as working on his dairy farm where he also raised Arabian horses, cooking, playing country western music on his guitar and photography. He was a member of the Lebanon Camera Club and had obtained his commercial pilot's license as well. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years, Mary Garen Testerman, on Dec.1, 1985; and his parents, James Curtis and Sola Rebecca Testerman. Survivors include his wife of five years, Kay (Newton) Green Testerman; sons, Dr. Gregg Testerman, and his wife, Cherie, of Lebanon, and Stephen Testerman of Columbus; daughters, Linda Delligatti, and husband, Tony, of Granville, and Danah Testerman of Lebanon; stepdaughters, Becky Butcher, and husband, Bob, and Angie Leitschuh, and husband, Keith, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Todd and Chad Delligatti, Roman, Amber and Nathan Bunce and Bradd, Jared, Jason and Brian Testerman; and step-grandchildren, Jamie and Ryan Butcher and Kaitlin and Kirby Leitschuh.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lebanon United Methodist Church. Robert R. Thomas
Middletown native Robert R. Thomas, 59, of Flossmoor, Ill., formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill. He was born in Middletown on Dec. 15, 1939, the son of Robert and Florence (Post) Thomas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Thomas was the owner of Dyna-Powers Engineers in Blue Island, Ill. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Waters) Thomas of Flossmoor; three sons, Douglas Thomas of Chicago, Ill., Ashley Thomas of Flossmoor, Ill., and Uland (Sue) Thomas of Steger, Ill.; a granddaughter, Sasha Thomas of Steger, Ill.; and a sister, Jeanne Anne Rich of New Jersey.

Dencie B. Weaver
Dencie B. Weaver, 90, of 3 Farm Ave. in Franklin, died Saturday at 5:32 p.m. at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Lincoln County, Ky., on June 14, 1909, the daughter of Allen and Ida "Coffey" Murphy. Mrs. Weaver resided on Farm Avenue since 1938 and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Carlisle. Preceding her in death were her husband Homer in 1979; two sons, Ronald in 1992 and Allen in 1963. Surviving are two sons, Bill "Roy" Weaver and Lawrence "Sibi" Weaver, both of Carlisle; a daughter, Jacquelene Doty of Springboro; a brother, Claude Murphy; two sisters, Gladys Denham and Berdie Jefferies, all of Lincoln County, Ky.; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Springboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

L. Michael Berry
L. Michael "Moose" Berry, of Anderson Township, son of the late Rita Berry, father of Michael Berry, brother of Edward and Steven Berry, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999 at the age of 42 years.

Homer Fred Bowling
Homer Fred Bowling, 99, of Fairfield, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Tri-County Extended Care Center at 12:40 p.m.He was born in Tazwell, Va., on June 1, 1900, the son of Clinton and Matilda (Hayes) Bowling. Homer was married to Lillie Caudill and Margaret Spaight, who both preceded him in death. He was a clerk with the B&O Railroad from 1942 to 1965, a member of the First Baptist Church of Dyersburg, Tenn., and the Dyersburg Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his children, Harry Bowling, and wife, Patti, Wilma Venerable, and husband, Harold, Mary Gabbard, and husband, Neil, and Rita Trunck, and husband, Ray, all of Hamilton, Pat Johnson, and husband, Charles, of Fairfield, and Doris Smith, and husband, Art, of Middletown; a brother, Ardyce Bowling of Columbus, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters and a granddaughter.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at the Webb-Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South D Street, Hamilton, on Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Neil Gabbard officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. Monday.

Mabel I. Breeding
FARMERSVILLE - Mrs. Mabel I. (Hale) Breeding, 76, of Farmersville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Sycamore Hospital. She was born on Sept. 12, 1922, to the late Claude A. and Stella M. (Egleston) Hale. Mrs. Breeding was a member of Farmersville United Methodist Church, Germantown Senior Citizens and both the Germantown and Farmersville historical societies. She served as a volunteer at Miami Valley Hospital for 16 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Breeding Sr., in 1983; and a son, Gary Breeding, in 1953. She is survived by four daughters, Dixie (Elbert) Lynch of Carlisle, Linda (Charles) DeBord of Somerville, and Marsha (D.R.) Coffman and Wilma Breeding, both of Farmersville; two sons, Frank H. Breeding Jr. of Farmersville and Norman Breeding of Germantown; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Inez Worrell Ernst of Germantown; and two brothers, Orville "Wayne" (Barbara) Hale of West Alexandria and Clyde (Betty) Hale of Eaton.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Dalton Funeral Home (there will be an additional viewing from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday before the service), Ohio 4 at Weaver Road, Germantown, where the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Mary Ann Brehany
Mary Ann Brehany, 84, of Monroe, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Middletown Regional Hospital.She was formerly of Trenton, Ohio, and had been a resident of Mount Pleasant Village in Monroe for the past 10 years. Born in Middletown on Sept. 11, 1914, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Mary Brehany of Trenton, both deceased. She had one brother, Everett, also deceased. Miss Brehany retired in 1976 from her position as speech pathologist for the Middletown Board of Education, where she had worked for 29 years. She attended Adrian College in Adrian, Mich., where she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She did her graduate work at State University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. After graduation, she conducted a private speech pathology clinic in Dayton from 1942 to 1947 before taking her teaching position with Middletown schools in 1947 where she worked as a speech and hearing specialist and speech pathologist. She was the first certified speech pathologist in Middletown and in the State of Ohio. Miss Brehany also assisted emotionally disturbed individuals for five years at Community Day Hospital in Middletown. She also taught U.S. government and history classes and English language classes to foreign immigrants for 10 years. During her life, she visited Japan nine times. During one visit, she served for two years as instructor of conversational English at Women's College in Kyoto, Japan. In addition, Miss Brehany was a Red Cross instructor in water safety and First Aid for 15 years and was selected, but declined, to train as an Olympic swimmer.She was active at both Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church in Trenton and the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Monroe. She also served on the Middletown Area Young Life Committee for many years. In recent years, she established a Middletown Community Foundation scholarship fund for students of speech and hearing therapy. Surviving are numerous cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Monroe. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Dr. John Cheetham of Mount Olive Church, Trenton, the Rev. Janet K. Dillaman of Mount Pleasant Church, Monroe, and Stan Gockel, director of pastoral and spiritual services at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Helen M. Brown
Mrs. Helen M. Brown, 87, of Monroe, Ohio, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 11, 1999, at her residence. She was born in Bridgeport, Ohio, on Nov. 20, 1911, the daughter of Frank and Oca (Camden) Blaine, and lived in Monroe since she was 6 weeks old. She had resided at Mount Pleasant Retirement Community the past five years. Mrs. Brown worked for McGraw Construction Co. for 30 years as an accountant. She had also served as clerk of Lemon Township for several years. She was a longtime member of Monroe United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, Eber Joe Ihle (wife Helen) of Monroe; a daughter, E. June Ulrich (husband Art) of Middletown; a sister, Mollie Louise Florkey of Hillsboro, Ohio; her grandchildren, Teresa McGuire of Monroe, Tim Ihle of Franklin, Tina Ernst of Cincinnati, Ted Ihle of Middletown, Gordon K. Smith of Hamilton and Jeffrey Ulrich of West Des Moines, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1969; her father in 1977; herhusband, William Brown, in 1962; two brothers, Ray and James Blaine; and special friend, Charlie Zimmerman.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with Chaplain Stan Gockel officiating. Burial will follow in North Monroe Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cecile Faye "Sis" Burton, 80, of Middletown, died Monday evening, Aug. 9, 1999, at Middletown Regional Hospital.She was born in Middletown on Aug. 29, 1918, the daughter of Stanley Oligee and Fayetta (Morehead) )Oligee. Mrs. Burton was a member of the Towne Boulevard Church of God. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Velmer Burton, with whom she has renewed their wedding vows every year. Also surviving are two daughters, Catherine A. Deaton of Middletown and Lois J. (husband Gene) Branham of Hamilton; a daughter-in-law, Doris M. Burton of Trenton; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Ruth Cox of Franklin and Kate McCarty of Middletown; and a brother, Marvin Oligee of Poasttown.She was preceded in death by her son, Velmer S. Burton in 1997; her parents; three sisters, Mabel Hall, Martha Rhodus and Elizabeth Oligee; and four brothers, Edmond, Stanley, Lawrence and Maurice Oligee.

Mrs. Alice A. Carberry, 75, of Franklin, passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Middletown Regional Hospital.She was born in Franklin, Ohio, on Feb. 19, 1924, the daughter of William G. and Mary E. (Doliboa) Lindsay. She was a 1942 graduate of Franklin High School. She was married to James Carberry for 53 years. Mrs. Carberry was a member of Holy Family Parish in Middletown and the Holy Family prayer group. She leaves her husband, James A. Carberry; three sons, James Michael (Margie) Carberry of Middletown, Christopher Mark (Bonnie) Carberry of West Middletown and Paul Emery Carberry of Franklin; three daughters, Alicia (Jerry) Sorrell and Elizabeth (David) Dennis, both of Middletown and Catherine (Charles Steven) Lindon of Franklin; a brother, Richard Lindsay of Miamisburg; two sisters, Catherine Cottle and Delores Ann Puls, both of Middletown; 14 grandchildren, Karen Garitson, Tricia Bingham, John Sorrell, Ben Lindon, and Jessica, Eric, Amy, Aaron, Jacob, Joshua and Katie Carberry and Susan, Ellen and David Dennis; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Lindsay; a son, Mark Edward Carberry; six brothers, Mark, Charles, William, Robert, James and Paul Lindsay; and two sisters, Lucille Barker and Dorothy Taylor.

CARLISLE - Mrs. Rosa Pauline Charles, 74, of 771 Beachler Road, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at her residence. She was born in Petersburg, Ind., on Jan. 24, 1925, the daughter of John and Kathryn (Hess) Harbison. Mrs. Charles was a member and taught Sunday school at Hillcrest Baptist Church and was also active in crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Bonnie Keller. Among her survivors are her husband of 52 years, Verlin Charles of Carlisle; two sons, Larry and Chris Charles, both of Franklin; two daughters, Merry Kay Tipton and Charline Creager, both of Middletown; a brother, John Harbison of Mishawaka, Ind.; two sisters, Kathleen Hofer of Thomaston, Ga., and Betty Holland of Clayton, Ind.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Susie Demetrion, 87, of Middletown, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Garden Manor Retirement Village.She was born in Brusa, Turkey, on Sept. 14, 1911. Mrs. Demetrion was the owner and operator of Bow's Restaurant where she worked for seven years before retiring in 1962. She was also an owner and operator of a Lee's Restaurant in Covington, Ky. She was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. She belonged to the Philoptouchos "Friend of the Poor" Society through the church. Surviving are two sons, James Demetrion, and his wife, Barbara, of Arlington, Va., and John Demetrion of Middletown; a granddaughter, Elaine Roach; and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Max Roach.She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Demetrion; a brother, William Demetriou; and her parents, John and Sophia Demetriou.

Miss Florence Ann Fall, age 67, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at 8:28 a.m. at Mercy North Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. She was born May 19, 1932, in Jacksonburg, Ohio, and had lived in the area all her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mabel (Smith) Fall; two brothers, Dr. Charles R. Fall and Lawrence Fall; and one half brother, Thornton Fall. She is survived by six sisters, Zelma Nickell of North Port, Ala., Edna Wombold of Middletown, Jeanette Ikenberry and her husband, Luther, of Middletown, Mildred Miller of Middletown, Arlene Morrison of Middletown, and Shirley Hall of Middletown; two brothers, Emerson Fall and wife, Treva, of Collinsville, Ohio, and Edward Fall of Jacksonburg; one half-sister-in-law, Esther Fall of Jacksonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Springboro Missionary Baptist Church of Springboro, Ohio. Mrs. Flowers also once lived in the Mineral Bluff, Ga., area. Mrs. Juanita R. Foster, 76, of 5009 Central Ave., Middletown, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at Middletown Regional Hospital.She was born in Berea, Ky., on Nov. 28, 1922, the daughter of Paul and Artie (Abrams) Robinson, and was a longtime Franklin resident. She was employed for 17 years as a beautician for the Curley Q Beauty Shop in Franklin.Mrs. Foster was a lifelong member of the former United Church of Christ in Franklin, now the Conservative Congressional Christian Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 535 in Franklin, Amaranth of Middletown and the Tally Ho 8 Card Club. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jess V. "Red" Foster in 1989; and brothers John E. and Donald V. Robinson. She is survived by a son, Ron L. Foster of Midland, Mich.; a daughter, Carol A. Foster of Middletown; a sister, Lorena M. Ramsey of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Paul V. and Christopher J. Foster.

Shelby Lee Howard, 73, of Middletown, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Middletown Regional Hospital.The Ewing, Va., native was born there on Sept. 19, 1925, and had lived in this area since 1950. He had worked as a store clerk at J.C. Penney's for 36 years before retiring in 1985. He was also a stock manager for 17 years at McGee's Supermarket. He retired from McGee's in June, 1998. Mr. Howard was the former minister at Western Hills Baptist Church in West Middletown. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Media E. Gary Edward Jones, 48, a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on April 4, 1951. He was a graduate of Middletown High School. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army at West Point as an audio engineer. He was employed by Armco Steel Co. and Cincinnati Bell.He was a member of Bethel AME Church where he was involved in all youth activities. Gary was a fun-loving person who always had a winning smile and was loved by everyone he met. He was preceded in death by a son, Heshimu Raheem Jones. Survivors include his parents, Charlie and Leazola Jones of Franklin, Ohio; a son, Christopher Todd Jones of Dayton; two brothers, Howard Lee (Barbara) and Rev. Daniel E. Anna Margaret Kimball, 86, of Middletown, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Garden Manor Extended Care Center. She was born in Middletown, Ohio, on April 16, 1913, the daughter of James N. and Carrie (Dell) Kimball. Miss Kimball was formerly of El Paso Avenue. She was a graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1932, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. She had worked as a buyer for Rikes. Miss Kimball had also owned and operated "Margaret's Wallpaper Shop" until her retirement in 1994. She belonged to Forest Hills Country Club. Among her survivors are a sister, Jean Jacoby of Miamisburg; a nephew, Dr. David (Amber) Jacoby of Tucson, Ariz.; and two nieces, Sally (George) Martin of Dayton, Ohio, and Elizabeth (David) Dalton of Miamisburg. She was preceded in death by parents; and a brother, Jamie Kimball.

Reedis H. McCoy
Reedis Harrison McCoy, 77, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at the Willow Knoll Nursing Center where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was born on May 8, 1922, in Center Ridge, Ark., and had lived in Middletown for 45 years. He served in the Army during World War II. Mr. McCoy was employed for 40 years and had worked as a chef, a painter and a self-employed brick cleaner until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Hopewell Church and had recently given his life to the Lord. He was also a member of American Legion Post 218, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 528 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 501. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Ivory (Davis) McCoy; and an infant brother, Ferrell McCoy. Norma L. William (Bob) Needham
William (Bob) Needham, age 66, of Hamilton, died at Middletown Regional Hospital at 3:55 p.m. on Aug. 15, 1999. He was born in Maude, Ohio, on May 17, 1933, and was the son of Ralph C. and Lula Belle (Bowman) Needham Sr. He was educated in the West Chester Schools. Mr. Needham was a truck driver for J&W Trucking in Middletown 15 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagle Lodge of Middletown. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his brothers, Ralph Needham Jr. and his wife, Janet, Charles Needham and his wife, Marilyn, Stephen Needham, John Needham and his wife, Joanne, all of Hamilton; George Needham and his wife, Sue, of Millville, Richard Needham and his wife, Linda, of Middletown; sisters, Wilma Woods and her husband, Bobby, and Ester Needham, both of Hamilton, Bonnie Gregory of Cincinnati and Donna Major of Middletown; and also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Glen Roger Needham in 1973.

She was a member of St. Mary Church in Franklin, Right to Life, and Shirley's Thunderbirds. Preceding her in death were her father, Frank in 1994; a daughter, Elisa K. Noble in 1985; and a brother, Frank Bernard Esselman. Surviving are a daughter, Dawn K., and husband, David Scholl, of Franklin; her mother, Ruth Mary Esselman of Franklin; four brothers, Robert J. and Joseph B. She was formerly employed as a receptionist for the Maple Park Dairy. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Middletown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Susan (Woodward) Smith; five brothers, Ed F. Smith, Claude Smith, Dale Smith, Hugh Smith and Chalmers Smith; and two sisters, Lillian Smith and Enid Smith. She is survived by two sisters, Helen Doench of Middletown and Faye Stallsmith of Monroe, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Louise Taylor, 83, a resident of Barbara Parke Convalescent Center, passed away at the center at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999.A native of Marengo County, Ala., she had been a resident of Middletown for 50 years. She was a well-known cook in the area and had been employed at Robinson's Restaurant, Godwins Restaurant and at Liberty Restaurant.Mrs. Taylor was a very pleasant, kind lady. She would often extend a hand to help the needy and was known to feed those who were hungry. She is survived by a sister, Bertha Johnson of Middletown; a very devoted nephew and his wife, Robert and Derina Lewis, both of Middletown; great-nephews, Rev. Joe Lewis of Birmingham, Ala., and James Johnson, Robert Lewis Jr. and Derrick Lewis, all of Middletown; a great-niece, Barbara J. Briggs of Middletown; two great-great-nieces, Carrie and Keshia Dorns of Middletown; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ruth Yocum, 76, formerly of Middletown, died Friday at Spring Creek Nursing Home in Huber Heights. She was born on March 28, 1923, in Westbrook, Maine, and had lived in the Middletown area for 60 years. She was a supervisor at Ohio Bell and AT&T for 32 years, retiring in 1974.Mrs. Yocum was a member of First Baptist Church in Middletown, the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 149 of Franklin and the V.F.W. 3809 in Middletown. She is survived by a niece, Heidi (Joseph) Findler of Huber Heights; two nephews, Karl Sonnenberg of Detroit, Mich., and Eric Sonnenberg of Rockford, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Yocum in 1995; a sister, Karlene Sonnenberg; and parents, Karl and Mary (Brown) Graffam.

John E. Earley, 83, of Middletown died on Saturday afternoon at his residence.Mr. Earley was retired from Kenner Toys (now Hasbro) in Cincinnati, where he was director of safety engineering. Mrs. Nannie Lou (Barker) McCreary, 87, of Middletown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at Willow Knoll Retirement Center. She was born in Denniston, Ky., Menifee County, on July 4, 1912, and had lived here most of her life. Mrs. McCreary was employed at Frigidaire and retired in 1973. She was a member of the Breiel Boulevard Church of God. She belonged to many different organizations through the church as well. Among them were the Church Keenagers and Needlecraft Quilting Group. While in her eighties, she went to the Phillipine Islands where she participated with the Church Missionary Group, NA Work Camp.She leaves a daughter, Yvonne M. Pompan of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren, Jacqueline A. Pompan, Joseph M. Pompan and Michael K. Obie T. Meadows, 67, of 2429 Bendel St., Middletown, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at his residence. He was born in Middletown on Jan. 19, 1932, the son of Elcy Meadows and Nannie (Barker) Meadows. He served in the U S. Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Meadows was employed as a roller in the Temper Mill at Armco/AK Steel Co., where he worked for 37 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, a Kentucky Colonel, the Cantons and was active in Citizens Band radio known as "Moby Dick." He was preceded in death by his father, Elcy Meadows in 1968.He is survived by his wife of 4 1/2 years Darlene (King) Meadows; his mother, Nannie McCreary of Middletown; a son, Michael Keith Meadows of Middletown; a stepdaughter, Mary Nicole King of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; two half brothers, James and Ricky Meadows, both of Franklin; a sister, Yvonne Pommpan of Alexandria, Va.; a half sister, Linda Lawless of Franklin; a niece, Jacqulin Pommpan of Alexandria, Va.; a nephew, Joseph Pommpan of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and an adopted granddaughter, LaTia Dobcynecki.

He was born in McAdoo, Pa., of Feb 14, 1906, the son of Steve Peters and Mary Kais. He retired from the U.S. Steel Ohio Works in Youngstown, Ohio, as a maintenance man with more than 40 years of service. On May 16, 1936, he married Mary Welsch, and for many years they made their home on Goldman Avenue, prior to moving to Franklin Furnace to be with their daughter. Mr. Peters was a member of St. Stephen's of Hungary Church in Youngstown; Holy Family Parish, St. John's Chapel in Middletown and St. Peter-in-Chains Catholic Church in Wheelersburg, Ohio. We was an Army veteran, serving in the 42nd Rainbow Division. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and George Sich of Franklin Furnace; and by a grandson and his wife, George "J.R." and Alyssa Sich of Harleysville, Pa. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Sich in 1990, and by a sister, Irma, and a brother, William, both in Hungary.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call from noon until 1 p.m. at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Woodside Cemetery, with Father John Civille officiating.

Bessie Regas
Bessie Regas, 92, of 3106 Central Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at her residence.She was born on the Island of Tenedos in Greece on Jan. 14, 1907, the daughter of Efstratios and Stravrouvla Houle. She was co-owner of the Delicia Restaurant in Middletown. Mrs. Regas was a member of the Daughters of Penelope, Ladies Philoptochos and the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. She was a benefactor of the opening of the door when the Greek Orthodox Church was built in 1958. She is survived by her nephew, Nick Hatjistilianos, with whom she made her home.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul in 1948; and a sister, Helen Beneta in 1991

Elbert Rose
FRANKLIN-Elbert Rose, 82, of 128 Millard Drive, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Campton, Ky., on Oct. 21, 1916, the son of Jesse and Margaret (Combs) Rose. Mr. Rose was employed at Armco/AK Steel Co. for 35 years. He was a Marine Corps. veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 218 and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Middletown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lin Rose, and a sister, Opal Hunter. Survivors include his wife, Marie (Eisenmenger) Rose; two daughters, JoAnne McGill of Miamisburg and Sue Carol Russell of Middletown; a stepson, Bud Richmond of Big Sandy, Texas; a stepdaughter, Charlene M. Beverly Suiter Mrs. Beverly June (Little) Suiter, 60, of 1208 Ellen Drive, died Sunday morning at the Mount Pleasant Retirement Village. She was born Oct. 3, 1938 in Middletown, the daughter of Joseph M. and Mildred Gibbons Little and was a lifetime resident. A homemaker, she had attended the Tytus Avenue Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Suiter; two sons, John D. Suiter of Middletown and Joseph A. Suiter (wife Katrina) of Monroe; three grandchildren, Brittany, Nicholas and Kyle; a brother, Millard Little (wife, Linda); a half-brother, Grant Little; six nephews and five nieces; an aunt, Marjorie Thomas, and an uncle, Frank Gibbons. She was preceded in death by a half-sister, Maxine Little; and by two half-brothers, Joseph Allen Little and Harold Little.

Kenneth Van Meter
LEBANON-Kenneth Eugene Van Meter, 91, of Lebanon, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at Mason Christian Village. He was born on Sept. 11, 1907, in Turtlecreek Township to Ralph D. and Enid (Probasco) Van Meter. He was a 1926 graduate of Lebanon High School. He later graduated from the Chicago College of Diesel Engineering. Mr. Van Meter was a farmer most of his life. But he started a second career in 1972 as the diesel engineer for the trains at Kings Island before retiring in 1983. He was also a member of the Fellowship Christian Chapel, Lebanon Lodge 26 Free & Accepted Masons, the Dayton Scottish Rite, Miami Commandery, Knights Templar, Lebanon Order of Eastern Star 343, Lebanon Chapter, Lebanon Council and Lebanon Grange 1462. He was also a noted Warren County historian.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Jessie (Ross) Van Meter; and three sisters, Vivian Werk, Hallie Haines and Eleanor Nixon. Among his survivors are a daughter, Nancy Parker, and her husband, Fred; grandchildren, Rick Parker, and wife, Cheryl, Kenneth Parker, and wife, Patti, and Ellisa Johnson, and husband, Douglas; four great-grandchildren, Rachel and Austin Parker, Jessica Johnson and Jack Parker; five nieces, Judy McClure, Karen Heaberlin, Sylvia Outland, Joan McGrath and Ann Crone; four nephews, Keith Nixon, William Ross and Steven and David Werk; two brothers-in-law, Corwin Nixon and Ben Werk; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Ross.
