Jeffery E. Adkins
Jeffery Eldon Adkins, 12, of Savannah, Ga., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on Oct. 9, 1987, the son of Victoria Lynn Deaton Adkins and Gregory Scott Adkins. He was a 6th grader at Edward J. Bartlet Middle School in Savannah, Ga. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Middletown.
Jeffery is survived by his father, Gregory S. Adkins, and stepmother, Alicia Bury-Rodriguez of Savannah; a brother, William "Scott" Adkins of Savannah; a stepsister, Jacqueline Espinoza of Savannah; his maternal grandparents, Noah and Wanda G. Deaton of Middletown; his paternal grandfather, Wesley Adkins of Eaton, Ohio; maternal great-grandmother, Nora Eads Baker; an aunt, Kendra (Pete) Phillips of Sumter, S.C.; an uncle, Bill (Michelle) Deaton of Trenton, Ohio; and cousins, Megan, Morgan, Zach, and Nicole Deaton, all of Trenton, and Tyler and Jessica Phillips of Sumter, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria Lynn Deaton Adkins; his cousin, Zachory William Deaton; maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Edra Deaton, and George D. Eads Sr.; and paternal grandmother, Wanda Adkins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were held in Savannah, Ga., on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000. Burial followed in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.

Ray C. Adkins
Ray C. Adkins, 67, of Lemon Township, Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Elliott County, Ky., on Feb. 10, 1932, the son of Bonnie Adkins and Sallie (Baldridge) Adkins. Mr. Adkins was employed at Jefferson-Smurfit for 25 years, retiring in 1994. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include two sons, Brian D. Adkins of Middletown and Ray B. Adkins of Jackson, Mich.; two daughters, Yvonne L. McKnight of Middletown and Barbara Frame of Lexington, Ky.; five brothers, LeRoy Adkins of Rives Junction, Mich., Billy D. Adkins of California; Earl C. Adkins of Gainesville, Fla., Kenneth L. Adkins of Munith, Mich., and Larry J. Adkins of Middletown; a sister, Mary Jo Underwood of Goshen, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Sallie Adkins; a daughter, Mary M. Schultz in 1995; and a brother, James Adkins.

Hester M. Bach
Mrs. Hester Marie Bach, 93, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at a nursing home in Fort Lauderdale. She was born on May 9, 1906, in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of Harry Clapp and Charlie (Cannon) Clapp. Mrs. Bach was a housewife and was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Bach.
She is survived by three sons, Bronson Bach of Columbus, Ohio, George Bach of Bend, Ore., and Stephen Bach of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ruby L. Baker
FRANKLIN-Mrs. Ruby Lee Baker, 74, of Franklin, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Sycamore Hospital.
She was born on March 15, 1925, in Wooton, W.Va., and was a member of the First Church of God. Mrs. Baker was a nurse's aide and had worked at Middletown Regional Hospital for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Baker in 1994; a son, Michael L. Baker; and two brothers, Clarence Blankenship and Charles D. Blankenship.
Surviving are two daughters, Rita Napier of Arlington, Texas, and Donna Perry, and her husband, Marvin, of Franklin, Ohio; two sons, Randy Baker, and his wife, Sue, of Dayton, Ohio, and Bryan Baker of Franklin; eight
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis Blankenship, and wife, Adith, of Ithaca, Ohio; and four sisters, Bessie Wooten, and husband, Jesse, of Stanton, Ky., Edna Mae Baker of Indiana, Hazel Turner of Centerville and Betty Feltner, and husband, Charles, of West Carrollton.

Mrs. Peggy R. Beatty, librarian, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Bethesda North Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Dennis; mother of Cynthia, William, Denise, Patrick, Maureen, Brian and Kathleen; grandmother of 20 grandchildren; and great-grandmother of two.

Loran M. Brown
Loran M. Brown, 65, of Middletown, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was a Middletown native, born on Sept. 3, 1934, but lived most of his life in Central City, Colo. He was the owner and operator of the Lost Gold Mine in Central City, Colo., and various other businesses. Mr. Brown had also
served as the deputy sheriff in Gilpin County, Colo. He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge in Central City.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn W. Brown in 1989; his father, Chester Brown, in 1985; and a niece, Deborah Olson in 1991.
Surviving are a brother, John C. Brown of Middletown; a sister, Lois Burns of Middletown; his mother, Wilma E. Brown of Middletown; six nieces and nephews, Rebecca Aspery, and her husband, Bruce, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Cheryl Wright, Cathy Hall, and her husband, James, Rick Burns, and wife, Su, Craig Rocky Burns, and wife, Kay, all of Middletown, and Kelly Dunn, and husband, Randy, of Carlisle; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.

Mildred Weichman Burkhart
Mrs. Mildred Weichman Burkhart, 87, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Mount Pleasant Village in Monroe. She was born on May 20, 1912, the daughter of Ruth (Dunn) and Frederick Sheldon.
She was the oldest of 10 children and is survived by two sisters, Lucille Tarr and Dorothy McGillvery, and two brothers, John Sheldon and Bill Sheldon. She also leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Marilynn (Bill) Weichman Bossart of Houston, Texas; a son, Dean L. (Tamara) Weichman Jr. of Springboro; two stepsons, Dr. Thomas (Ceclia) Burkhart of Kokomo, Ind., and Richard (Jan) Burkhart of West Chester, Ohio; a brother-in-law, R. Earle (Florence) Weichman of Costa Mesa, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Lauretta Weichman of Costa Mesa; grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Bossart, Catherine Bossart, Dr. Andrew (Krista) Burkhart, and Melanie (Ben) Burkhart Lasoi and Adam Burkhart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dean L. Weichman of Cincinnati; and her second husband, Vernon Burkhart of Tipton, Ind.
Mildred was an English teacher in the Greenhills/Forest Park School District in Cincinnati for more than 20 years. She was a former member of Forest Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 20 years, a member of Eastern Star and a life member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
Mildred was a petite, caring lady of deep faith, who had a love of birds and the color red. She enjoyed music and playing the organ. One of her favorite hymns was "His Eye Is On The Sparrow." She was an excellent teacher and a loving mother and friend.
ARRANGEMENTS: Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.

Lawrence Chilton
Lawrence R. Chilton, age 72, of 1809 Oberon Drive, Middletown, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Red Lion, Ohio, on May 29, 1927, the son of Oscar and Mary (Routt) Chilton. He was employed as a machinist for Aeronca Inc. in Middletown for 38 years and retired in 1990.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Dan and Ralph Chilton.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Suzanne (Brown) Chilton; two sons, Robin Chilton of Springboro and Andy Chilton of Middletown; a daughter, Sharon Chilton of Middletown; two step-sons, Mark Bales of Middletown and Steve Bales of Connecticut; two brothers, Carl Chilton of Jackson and Milo Chilton of Hunter and a grandson, Andrew Taylor Chilton.

Stanley E. Clark Sr.
Stanley Eugene Clark Sr., 78, of Ada, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Little County of Mary Hospital. He was born in Franklin, Ohio. Mr. Clark was a bomber pilot in the Army Air Corp. during World War II. He was employed as a captain at American Airlines for 30 years before retiring in 1981. He was also a CPA and the owner/operator of Clark & Associates Accounting Services for 30 years. Mr. Clark was a member of Oak Hills Country Club in Ada., Okla., where he was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Clark; a daughter, Andrea Denise Clark; a brother, Virgil Clark; and two sisters, Letha Kellis and Alma Brown.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Carolyn J. Clark; two sons, Charles Clark, and his wife, Cathy, of Morango Valley, Calif., and Stanley Clark Jr. of Morango Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Carlene Smith of Torrance, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leon Clark of Middletown, Ohio, and Donald Clark of Houston, Texas.

Betty Coleman
Betty R. Coleman, age 89, of Franklin, Ohio, formerly of Middletown, was called to eternal rest Friday, Jan. 15, 2000.
Betty was preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Mamie (Winkfield) Jackson; one daughter, three sisters, three brothers and husband, Orville H. Coleman.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Shirley Mills of Dayton, Ohio, and Josephine (Rev. Preston) Jordan of Yorktown, Va.; sister, Sallie Latimore of Middletown; three granddaughters including devoted granddaughter, Toni Brame of Dayton; four grandsons and three great-grandsons; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many relatives and Christian friends.

Honna Lou Gividen, age 64, of Franklin, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born in Clemons, Ky. on Aug. 30, 1935 the daughter of Greenville P. and Honna (Arnett) Keeton. She was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle in Carlisle.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a grandson, Scott Alan Combs.Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Richard A. Gividen; a son, Richard H. Gividen of Ashland, Ky.; three daughters, Vickie L. Combs of Springboro, Patti S. Danner of Cordova, Tenn. and Jenny L. Chapman of Cincinnati; two brothers, Glendell R. Keeton of Wadsworth, Ohio and Gennis Keeton of Tennessee; a sister, Barbara Kiminecz of Kettering and seven grandchildren.

FRANKLIN-Pauline Isaacs, 65, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Southview Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 18, 1934, in Whitely County, Ky., the daughter of John Henry and Thelma (Taylor) Young. She was employed by Monsanto, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Ms. Isaacs was preceded in death by her father, John Henry Young in 1994; and a brother, James Young in 1972.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Isaacs, and his wife, Marlene, of Carlisle, and Rick Isaacs, of Franklin; her mother, Thelma Young of Williamsburg, Ky.; a brother, John Young of Williamsburg; a sister, Aurelia Hamblin of Florida; and four grandchildren, Scott, Paul Jr., Joseph and Amanda.

Zelma Kramer
Zelma J. Kramer, 82, of Middletown, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Willow Knoll Retirement Community in Middletown.
She was born on July 26, 1917, in Middletown to Rilda Lela (Oakley) Wolf and Harley Wolf. She was a member of several square dance clubs, Holy Family Parish-Holy Trinity Church and a graduate of Middletown High School.
Survivors include, sons, Gerald (Sandy) Kramer of Cincinnati and James E. (Donna) Kramer of Middletown; a daughter, Sheila (Lou) Lisella of Fairfield; five grandchildren, Michael Kramer, Karen (Kramer) Thompson, Laura (Lisella) Smoot, Capt. Joseph Lisella and Rebecca (Kramer) Chapman and three great-grandchildren, Jessica Chapman, Courtney Chapman and Kayleigh Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis G. Kramer on June 21, 1992; father, Harley Wolf; mother, Rilda Lela (Oakley) Wolf; brother, George Whitaker and sisters, Victoria Mallory, Ethel Waite and Viola Howard.

Sharon Jane Lee, 47, of Middletown, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
She was born in Middletown on April 22, 1952. She had worked as a helper with the Mentally Retarded and Developmentally Disabled (M.R.D.D.) for 22 years. She attended the Towne Boulevard Church of God.
Surviving are her mother, Frances Lee of Middletown; her father, Rondle Lee of Clay City, Ky.; a sister, Dianna Todd, and her husband, Caleph, of Oregonia, Ohio; two brothers, Anthony Lee and Jeffrey B. Lee, both of Middletown; two nieces, Kristen M. Witt, and her husband, Ronald Jr., of Middletown, and Elizabeth M. Lee of Stanton, Ky.; and two nephews, Jason A. Lee of Middletown and Michael Todd of Oregonia.

Jessie Massie
Jessie Massie, 77, of Middletown, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at her home.
Mrs. Massie was born June 20, 1922 in Jefferson, Ga. to the late William and Olivia Oliver. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Massie, and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three daughters, Juanita (Bertram) Jones of Middletown, Deborah Massie of Middletown and Michele (Myron) Monroe of Cincinnati; one son, Thomas Derrick Massie of Middletown, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of relative and friends.

Arnold E. Matthews
FRANKLIN-Arnold E. Matthews, 80, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.
He was born on April 2, 1919, in Franklin, Ohio, the son of Charles and Mattie (Parlette) Matthews. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II. Mr. Matthews was employed at the General Motors Moraine Division for 30 years as an equipment repairman. He retired in 1975. He was a member of the Third Street Church of God in Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, E.T. Matthews; and a daughter, Athonia "Toni" Fugate.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Coffey) Matthews; a son, William Arnold Matthews of Middletown; three brothers, Eldon Matthews of Middletown, and Richard and Rodney Matthews, both of Miamisburg; three sisters, Merle Cooper and Evelyn, both of Miamisburg, and Nancy Bowermaster of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mollie McIntosh
Mrs. Mollie McIntosh, 84, a resident of Garden Manor Retirement Community, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Lothair, Ky., on Oct. 29, 1915, a daughter of Riley and Laura Belle (Stidham) Sizemore, and had been a resident of Middletown for more than 50 years. She belonged to the Church of God faith. Mrs. McIntosh worked for many years at the G.C. Murphy store. She and her husband, Sam, had formerly resided at 3020 Mohawk St. for many years.
She is survived by a son, James McIntosh (wife Betty) of Coldspring, Texas; three sisters, Alpha Peck (husband Wilbur), Gertie Adams (husband Delmar) and Beulah Cohen; a brother, James Sizemore (wife Eliza); five grandsons, Fred Gillespie and Mike, Mark, Dean and Matthew McIntosh; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Farris and Jillian McIntosh.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Jo Grund; a son, Herman McIntosh; and a granddaughter, Terri McIntosh.

Lynn A. Mendenhall
Lynn Ann Mendenhall, 49, of Middletown, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at her residence. She was born in Middletown on July 30, 1950, and was a lifelong resident of this area. She was employed as an inspector at Jefferson Smurfitt Corp. where she had worked for 18 years.
Survivors include her parents, Lee and Pat Mendenhall of Middletown; a son, Michael Lee Ronto of Middletown; a sister, Patty Lee Mendenhall of Middletown; a longtime special friend, James Michael Ronto of Middletown; a niece, Heather Ann Houck of Fairborn; a nephew, Benjamin Jones Houck of Fairborn; a great-niece, Callee Maka Augustus of Fairborn; and a friend, Norm Hembree of Middletown.

Carl Monroe
Carl Monroe, age 60, of Middletown died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1939, in Middletown the son of Jesse B. Monroe and Mary (Swiger) Monroe.
Mr. Monroe retired in 1990 from Armco Steel where he worked as a machinist and was currently the owner and operator of Elliot Auto Bath in Middletown. He was a member of the New Covenant Church.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patricia E. Conard Parker
Conard Parker, age 63, of 813 S. Main St., Franklin, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000 at his residence.
He was born in Franklin, Ohio on Aug. 24, 1936, the son of Dewey and Hestor Ellen (Coyle) Parker. Mr. Parker was a veteran for 12 years of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Cops retiring from the U.S. Reserves.
Preceding in his death were his parents Dewey and Hestor Ellen (Coyle) Parker.
He is survived by his son, Donald Brown of Springboro; brothers and sisters, Dewey Parker Jr., of Lebanon, Ralph L. Parker of Altoona, Fla., Della Jean Habermacher of Las Vegas, Nev., JoAnn Langhag of Prescott Valley, Ariz. and Robert A. Parker of Paisley, Fla.

Carolyn Y. Phillips
Carolyn Y. (Oliver) Phillips, 47, departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital, after an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Glennis Oilver; and a sister, Joyce A. Oliver. She was born on Jan. 6, 1953, at Middletown Regional Hospital. Carolyn came to Christ at an early age where she was baptised at Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Hans. She attended Middletown High School and later worked in various occupations. Her love was working for the sick in nursing homes where she was devoted until her illness. She loved her family and cherished her devoted husband, Norman. She was a kind and giving person with always a smile on her face.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband, Norman Phillips of Middletown; a daughter, Tamarra Young of Middletown; two devoted sisters, Polly (Bobby) Clark and Marlene (David) Howard, all of Middletown; two aunts, Florence Cargill of Middletown and Janie B. Williams of Pontiac, Mich.; a great-aunt, Callie Calhoun of Cincinnati ; a special aunt, Thelma (John) Barnes of Middletown; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Robert) Hill, Wadena Sherron, and Norma (Cliford) Harris, all of Middletown, Gladys Jones of Fairfield, and Betty (Robert) Marlow of Greenville, Ala.; a brother-in-law, Robert (Joanne) Phillips; three nieces, Jai Howard and Joslin and Ta-la Johnson of Middletown; four nephews, Kenneth (Deborah) Clark of Dayton, Ohio, Ronald Clark of Middletown and David Howard Jr. and Judton Howard, of Lebanon; a special friend, Carol Fuller; and a host of cousins, friends and other relatives.

Dona Darlene Pickerell
Dona Darlene Pickerell, 60, of Middletown, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000 at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Middletown on Oct. 21, 1939 the daughter of Norval and Ruby (Griggs) Van Cleve.
Mrs. Pickerell worked for AK Steel in transportation for 20 years, retiring in 1998.
Surviving are her son, Matthew Pickerell of Middletown; daughters, Kathy Sue (Chris) Keysor of Franklin and April (Ken) Adams of Beebe, Ark.; brother, Neil Edwin (Linda) Van Cleve of Monroe and six grandchildren, Nicholas Adams, Meagan Bowling, Christina Keysor, Brian Keysor, Derek Keysor and Shawn Keysor.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Norval Van Cleve and Ruby Van Cleve and a sister, Janice Van Cleve.

Glen A. Plant, 93, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in New Brunswick, Canada. Mr. Plant was a self-employed building contractor.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Leola Moore and Jean Hilderbrand. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty G. Plant; two daughters, Mona (Milton) Hollaway of Columbus and Sharon (Jerry) Sigler of Springboro, Ohio; two sons, Eli (Goldie) Plant of Hamilton, Ohio, and Les Plant of Carroll, Ohio; and eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Raymond Phibbs
Raymond Phibbs, 89, of Elberon Ave., Cincinnati, died Monday morning, Jan. 10, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born in West Middletown, Ohio, on March 22, 1910, a son of John and Amanda (Byers) Phibbs.
Mr. Phibbs is survived by a sister, Clara Chaney of Wisconsin; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ralph Phibbs.

Charles E. Preusch
HAMILTON-Charles E. Preusch, 88, of 110 S. Gersam Ave., formerly of Middletown and Monroe, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at 12:20 a.m. in Ft. Hamilton Hospital. He was born in Hamilton, the son of John and Laura (Holden) Preusch. He married Maude Whisman in July, 1934, in Richmond, Ind. Mr. Preusch was
employed as a printing pressman for Inland Container Corp. in Middletown, retiring in 1976 after 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, Maude; two sons, Larry Preusch, and his wife, Eleanor, of Middletown, and Rodney Preusch, and his wife, Jan, of Edmonds, Wash; a daughter, Charma Camp, and her husband, Jon, of Hamilton and Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Diane Haskins, Dana Preusch, Melissa Hale, Leesa Frederick, Scott Camp, Jill Choate, Leslie Brogi, Alison Johnson and Gretchen Holton; and eight great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jon'Eric, Andrea, Jenna, Sam, Jake, Bailey and Noah.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and William Preusch; and a sister, Margaret Keagy.

Edgar Reffitt
Edgar Reffitt, 83, of Evergreen Court in Apopka, Fla. and formerly of the Middletown area, died Friday, Jan. 14.
Mr. Reffitt was born in Minniefee County, Ky., and moved the Central Florida in 1968 where he was a member of the First Church of God and the American Legion Post 19 of Orlando, Fla. He was a World War II veteran of the Army and was a steelworker retiring from Armco Steel in Middletown.
Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Apopka, Fla.; sons, J. B.. Reffitt of Apopka, Fla., Edgar W. Reffitt of Colorado and Richard Reffitt of Eustus, Fla.; sisters, Helen Barnett of Kentucky and Jo Dumfort of New Jersey; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mariam S. Smith
Mrs. Miriam S. Smith, 85, of Marco Island, Fla., formerly of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on Sept. 22, 1914, to Georgia Marion (Clouse) Seiller and John Andrew Seiller. Mrs. Smith was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Middletown since 1942, serving in many capacities and often, as a Sunday school teacher. She joined the First United Church of Marco Island, Fla., in 1994, where she was equally active.
She was a buyer for John Wanamaker of Philadelphia, Pa, where she met her future husband, Dr. Kenneth M. Smith, deceased. They were married on Dec. 26, 1936, and moved to Middletown in 1942. A graduate of Ohio State University, she was an active member of the Christian Women's Club in both Ohio and Florida. She was also a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and the Women's Auxiliary of Middletown Regional Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Stephen D. Smith of Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Georgia S. Roberts of Marco Island, Fla.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Kenneth M. Smith on May 26, 1993; her parents, John Andrew and Georgia Marion Seiller; and a brother, John A. Seiller Jr.

Charles W. Stamper
Charles W. Stamper, 58, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Middletown, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at his residence. He was born in Middletown, the son of Earl and Eunice Stamper. Mr. Stamper was a merchant marine engineer. He was a retired master chief from the U.S. Navy with 21 years of service. He was also associated with the Virginia Pilot Newspaper of Virginia Beach, Va., for 12 years. He was a member of the London Bridge Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, and the Leon Piper bible class of the church. He was also a member of the American Maritime Officers Union.
Mr. Stamper was preceded in death by a sister, Mary North, and his parents.
He leaves two daughters, Rena Renee Dalton, and her husband, Thomas, and Tammy Lynne Lewis, and husband, Keith, all of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Clifton Glen Weaver, and wife, Patricia, of Virginia Beach, and Charles W. Stamper Jr., and friend, Amanda Harris, of Chesapeake, Va.; three brothers, Cecil Stamper of Alabama, and Robert and Donald Stamper, both of Middletown; and seven grandchildren, Dana and Brent Weaver, Tara and Brandon Lewis, Tommy and Nikki Dalton and Alex Stamper.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services were held on Jan. 13, 2000, at Greenbriar Chapel in Virginia. Rev. Greg Brinson officiated. Burial was at Riverside Memorial Park in Norfolk, Va.

Richard D. Stanifer
FRANKLIN-Richard Daniel Stanifer, 60, of 7037 Miami View Drive, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1939, in Carlisle, Ohio, the son of Albert and Evelyn (Herold) Stanifer. Mr. Stanifer was employed at General Motors Delco Moaraine Division as a millwright in the maintenance department, retiring in 1993. He was a 1957 graduate of Carlisle High School and attended the Ohio College of Applied Science for four years. Mr. Stanifer was a member of Eastern Star Lodge 55 Free & Accepted Masons and the First Baptist Church in Franklin where he served as a trustee. He was a classic car enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Stanifer.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Peggy (Richardson) Stanifer; his mother, Evelyn Estep of Springboro; two sons, Rich Stanifer, and his wife, Ellen, of Springboro, and Jim Stanifer, and wife, Lory, of Madison Township; two daughters, Kim Mucci, and husband, Dr.Tom Mucci, of Sugar Creek Township, and Lori Markle, and husband, Steve, of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Albert "Butch" Stanifer of New Lebanon; two sisters, Joyce Lakes of Springboro and Phyllis McDaniel of Franklin; half brothers William Estep of Carlisle and Joe Estep of Newark; and grandchildren, Kate, Molly, Andrea, Charlotte, and Jacob Stanifer, Alayna Mucci and Stephanie and Nathan Markle.

Geneva Hope Terrill, 71, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on Sept. 1, 1928, in Powell County, Ky., the daughter of Roy and Gracie (Brandenburg) McCoy.
She is survived by two sons, Fred B. (Debbie) Armitage, and Michel A. Terrill, both of Middletown; four daughters, Janet S. (Doug) Lakes of Trenton, Linda K. (John) Stanton, Debbie L. (Kevin) Cartwright, and Rita F. (Darrin) Evans, all of Middletown; four brothers, Jessie McCoy of Springboro, Johnny McCoy of Middletown, Roy McCoy Jr. of Carlisle, and Shirley McCoy of Stanton, Ky.; four sisters, Ethel Napier of Hamilton, Opal Watson of Powell County, Ky., Eva Morton of Camargo, Ky., and Zana Jane McCoy of Stanton, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Terrill; her parents; and one sister, Weedia Amburgey.

Foster L. Turpin
FRANKLIN-Foster L. (Sonny) Turpin, of 220 Roberts Ave., died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Southview Hospital. He was a Navy veteran and was self-employed for many years. Mr. Turpin was a member of the Eagles, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Franklin.
He was the son of the late George and Flossie (Fugate) Turpin and was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine, and a son, Bill.
He is survived by his sons, Doug Turpin of Middletown, John Dalton of Franklin and Kevin Scott Turpin of Florida; a daughter, Linda Lamb of Franklin; a brother, Eddie Turpin of Fairborn; six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

Joyce Tussey
FRANKLIN-Mrs. Joyce Tussey, 68, of 9627 Roberts Drive, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1931, in Floyd County, Ky., the daughter of Cecel and Octavia "Tavi" (Sizemore) Conley. Mrs. Tussey was employed for 23 years by the Miamisburg City School system, retiring in 1996. Sister Joyce was a member of the Miamisburg Full Gospel Tabernacle.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Garret McGuire; her grandparents, Alex and Alice Sizemore; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Gerti Tussey; and stepfather, Morris Crookston.

SEVEN MILE-Betty Urban, 75, of Seven Mile, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at 8 p.m.
She was born in Hamilton on May 27, 1924, the daughter of Stanley and Florence (Fields) Sloneker. Betty was employed as a bookkeeper for the Barry Company for the past 51 years. She was a life member of the Veterans of VFW Post 7670 Auxiliary. In 1947, in Seven Mile, she married Robert W. Urban.
She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Urban of Seven Mile; one son, Robert N. Urban, and his wife, Susie, of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Betsy, Sara, Laurie and Andrew; five brothers, Robert Sloneker, and his wife, Phyllis, of Titusville, Fla., Mac Sloneeker, and his wife, Mariane, of Hamilton, Fred Sloneker, and his wife, Dona, and Roy Sloneker, and his wife, Carolyn, both of Seven Mile, and Art Sloneker, and his wife, Wanda, of Middletown; a special sister, Doris Benjamin of Seven Mile; sisters-in-law, Betty and Jean Sloneker, both of Hamilton; her special cousin, Don Ebersold, and his wife, Dotie, of Milford; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dean and Dale Sloneker.

Sharon Domineck Wagner, 47, of Middletown, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Domineck.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Delthea Domineck of Middletown and Tina Wagner of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Teresa Latimore, Andrea Latimore and Debbie Domineck, all of Middletown; her beloved and devoted grandmother, Sallie Latimore of Middletown; two aunts, Catherine (Virgil) Jones of Dayton, Ohio, and Vernice (Larry) Aldridge of Middletown; two uncles, Carroll (Gloria) Latimore of Middletown and Donald Latimore of Cleveland, Ohio; three grandchildren; a very special and devoted cousin, Francenia Foster of Middletown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Madelyn C. Weilgus
Mrs. Madelyn C. "Mi-Mi" Weilgus, 86, of 6798 Kalbfleisch Road, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on July 30, 1913, in Southwick, Mass., the daughter of William Watson Maloney and Mabel (Clark) Maloney. She worked as an inspector at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Co. and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She has lived in the Middletown area for the last five years.
Mrs. Weilgus is survived by her daughter, JoAnn L. (Robert) Arnett of Middletown; granddaughter, Carrie (husband Christopher) Burley of Middletown; four great-grandchildren, Johnnie, Eric, Tina and Austin; and a brother, William Maloney of Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Louis Weilgus in 1992.

Jean Wallace
Mrs. Jean (Bremmer) Wallace, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Fort Myers.
She was born in Sewickley, Pa., on March 17, 1933, the daughter of the late Edna and Floyd W. Bremmer. Jean is survived by her husband of 44 years, James Wallace; a son, James Jr., his wife Carmon, and granddaughter, Erin Wallace, all of Middletown, Ohio. She is also survived by her sister, Lucy Bremmer of Allison Park, Pa.; a brother, F.W. Bremmer Jr. of Fairview, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1955. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was active in various service clubs in both the Middletown and Fort Myers areas and was an avid doll collector and miniature enthusiast.Jean will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Reese E. Wells
Reese Edward Wells, 39, of Middletown, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Dec. 16, 1960, the son of Robert and Nancy J. (Back) Wells. He was a 1979 graduate of Middletown High Schoolwhere he played football. He was also an explorer scout in Troop 1 and had attended Miami University. Mr. Wells was the last mobile driver for the Middletown Public Library and had performed this function for 10 years. For the past 10 years, he was employed as a sales representative with Chemlawn of Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy (Fowler) Wells of Middletown; his father, Robert Wells, and his mother, Nancy J. Mary E. Wight
Mrs. Mary Evelyn (Rodgers) Wight, 84, of Middletown, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe. She was born on Aug. 30, 1915, in Lawrence County, Ohio, and had lived in this area for eight years. Mrs. Wight was a mother, a homemaker and one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Sherman Rodgers Jr.; her mother, Blanche May Norman Rodgers; her husband of 48 years, Charles Elmer Wight; a step great-grandson, Travis Carpenter; a sister, Dorothy Miller; and four brothers, Lloyd, Paul, William and Roscoe Rodgers.

Joyce Abrams
HAMILTON - Joyce Abrams, 62, born April 4, 1937, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Hamilton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Delia McWhorter; and a brother, Charles McWhorter.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Willie Abrams; two sons, Mike Abrams, and his wife, Mary Ann, of Johnston, Iowa, and Randy Abrams of Hamilton, Ohio; three daughters, Cheryl Nash, and her husband, Lynwood, of Hickory, N.C., Karen Shields, and her husband, James, of Milford, Ohio, and Rebecca Grimes, and her husband, Darin, of Jefferson, Ind. She is also survived by her twin sister, Mary Lou Herrmann; a sister, Lula McCracken; her brother, Dean Mc Whorter; six grandchildren, Billy Nash, Adam, Michael and Kari Shields, Elizabeth Abrams and Thomas Abrams; and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at the Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South D Street, Hamilton, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Robert Skirvin officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ermin W. Back
FRANKLIN - Ermin W. "Pappy" Back, 75, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was a retired employee of Appleton Paper Co. in West Carrollton with more than 30 years of service. Mr. Back was an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Back in 1985.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Terry Meloy of Baton Rouge, La.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Alger Back, Wayne and Donna Back of Franklin and David and Jana Back of West Middletown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Mabel Back of Indiana, and Paul and Vestine Back of West Middletown; a sister and brother-in-law, Stella and Dick Gray of Indiana; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Graveside services were concluded Monday at Butler County Memorial Park in Trenton.

Cora Banks
FRANKLIN-Mrs. Cora Banks, 75, of 671 Virginia Ave., passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Franklin Ridge Nursing Home.
She was born on April 24, 1924, in Pence Branch, Ky., the daughter of John "Coon" Wesley and Minnie (Pence) Banks.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Andrew A. Banks in 1968; two sons, Charles and Walter; and a daughter, Loretta.
Surviving are five sons, Russell Banks of Adams County, Ohio, James Banks of Middletown, Rex Banks of Arizona, Cecil Banks of Adams County, and Fred Banks of Florida; four daughters, Minnie Milligan of Tennessee, Reba Branham of Franklin, Norma Barker of Hamilton and Jenny Pearson of Miamisburg; a brother, Will Banks of Florida; a sister-in-law, Mary Banks of Franklin; and more than 70 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home, with the Revs. Chester Collins and Bennie Sutherland officiating. Burial will be in Woodhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Marilyn M. Boss
Marilyn M. Boss, 48, of 614 Bowman St., Colon, Mich., died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at her home.
She was born in Middletown, Ohio, on March 8, 1951, to Donald E. and Mary Eileen (Haney) Mann. She was raised in the Middletown and Trenton area. Marilyn attended Trenton High School and beautician school and had worked as a beautician locally for several years. She made her home in Colon, Mich. for the past 14 years. Ms. Boss was employed as a waitress at the Magi Cafe Restaurant in Colon until her retirement in September, 1999.
She is survived by a dear friend, Robert E. Mc Phearson, of Colon, Mich.; two sons, Derek Boss of Worcester, Mass., and Joshua Boss of Colon; her mother, Mary Eileen Mann of Trenton, Ohio; and one sister and one brother.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were concluded at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon, Mich. The Rev. Chet C. Allen of New Life Assembly of God Church of Colon officiated. Burial followed in Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.

Charles E. Chasteen, 69, of 27 Wilson Drive, Franklin passed away Sunday Jan. 9, 2000 at Carlisle Manor.
He was born Jan. 27, 1930 in Madison County Ky. the son of Charles and Obie Chasteen. He was employed for 20 years with Curtis Chasteen Sanitation Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Roy and Homer Chasteen and half brothers Ray and Carl Hounshell.
He is survived by his son Wayne Chasteen of Franklin, daughter Kathy Chasteen of Springboro, brothers Bill and Curtis Chasteen of Franklin, sister Thelma Combs of Franklin, half-brother Lennard Hounshell of Ky. and half-sisters Lila Gabbard of Franklin, Marie Feeback and Elizabeth Gill of Ky., grandchildren Cheri Hall, Mary Chasteen, Penny Brock and Joey Chasteen and great grandchildren Timothy Hall, Michael Hall and Dalton Brock.
