Loretta Jones
Mrs. Loretta Jones, 80, of Franklin, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at her residence. She was born on Aug. 10, 1920, in West Carrollton, Ohio, the daughter of George W. and Nanny (Harvey) Hall. Mrs. Jones was a member of the South Union Road Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Harold, in 1998. She is survived by her daughters Sue Merriman of Franklin and Barbara Hecht of Kettering; granddaughters Angie Colwell, Tara Wheeler, Christina Gray, Jamie Hester and Beth Gray; and great-grandchildren, Jenna Wheeler and Makenzi Staton.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second St., Franklin, with the Rev. Feril Hoffer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in West Carrollton. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clarence J. King Sr.
Clarence Joseph King Sr., 73, of Ludington, Mich., formerly of Grandville, Mich., and Middletown, Ohio, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, following a brave battle with cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by his family and friends, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Homer Hawley of Ludington. Clarence was born in Middletown, Ohio, on Sept. 21, 1926. He grew up in Ohio and moved to Ludington in 1952. He was president of Straits Steel and Wire Co. for many years. Mr. King was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the European theater. He was first an infantry man, and during the latter part of the war, he was top sergeant for an ordnance depot in Marseilles, France. He was a member of the Ludington Optimist Club, the Ludington Lodge No. 736, BPOE, and the Ludington Little League. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Clarence is survived by his stepfather, H. Ford McCartney of Middletown, Ohio; his brother, Walter A.L. King of Hellertown, Pa.; three children, Clarence J. King Jr. of Winter Haven, Fla., Terri J. Wissner of Thompsonville, Mich., and Diane J. (and Homer) Hawley of Ludington; nine grandchildren, Jeremy King of Baldwin, Mich., Jason (and Nikki) King of Ludington, Derek J. Wissner of Blairstown, N.J., Stephanie J. (and Eric) Quinn, Kevin J. (and Bethany) Wissner of Traverse City, Mich., and Joshua and Jeffrey Delbarker, and Jordon and Hannah Hawley, all of Ludington, Mich.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service was conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Dorrell Funeral Home Chapel in Ludington. The family received friends prior to the service and asked those present to join them, following the service, at Lincoln Hills Golf Club for food and fellowship.

Nettie H. Lewis
TRENTON -- Nettie H. Lewis, 81, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Detroit, Mich., on March 21, 1919, the daughter of Leroy and Aleetha (McMillian) Payne. Mrs. Lewis is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Gene) Williams of Monroe, Barbara (Robert) Rothwell of Fairfield and Toni Lewis of Trenton; two sisters, Addie Drake of Missouri and Alice Floyd of Florida; seven grandchildren, Evette (Tim) Gallagher, Heather Williams, Holly (Greg) Stevens, Stephanie (Brian) Wooton, Ted (Mindy) Williams and Robert and Jennifer Eckhardt; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Friday at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, with the Rev. Chris Tannreuther officiating. Interment will be at New London Cemetery in Shandon, Ohio. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mike Dean Parker Sr.
Mike Dean Parker Sr., 70, of 3406 Plymouth St., Middletown, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Berea, Ky., on Dec. 18, 1929, the son of Elmer and Ina Catherine (Poff) Parker. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Parker was employed for 30 years as a millwright for Local 1066, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Middletown. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Edward and Vernon Parker; and a sister, Peggy Dushan. Surviving are his wife, Alberta Catherine Park; a son, Mike Dean Parker Jr. of Cincinnati; a daughter, Bonnie Rae (Parker) Baker of Mason; brothers James Parker of Middletown and Herschel Parker of Blanchester; sisters Stella Powell of Waynesville, Josephine Grays of Franklin, Lou Miller of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Lydia Price of Monroe, Mich.; and grandchildren Phillip Anthony and Joshua Ryan Baker and Mike Dean Parker III.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second St., Franklin, with the Rev. John Blount officiating. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Harold E. Rose
Harold E. Rose, 81, formerly of 3210 Morgan St., died Monday morning, Sept. 4, 2000, at Garden Manor Retirement Center. He was born in Clinton County, Ohio, on Oct. 13, 1918, a son of Jesse and Myrtle (Kellis) Rose, and had lived in this area for more than 40 years. He had worked for 12 years as a delivery man for the Roy White Co. Mr. Rose was an Army veteran of World War II. There are no immediate survivors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, on Dec. 24, 1978; by his parents; three sisters, Marjorie Louise Ballantine, Rose Mary Dunaway and Josephine Jane Redkey; and a brother, Joseph Franklin Rose.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with Brother Chris Tannreuther officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery. American Legion Post 218 Color Guard will provide military honors at the graveside.

Eleanor R. Smith
Mrs. Eleanor R. Smith, 96, of Monroe, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at Mount Pleasant Village. She was born on June 17, 1904, in North Adams, Mass., to Wallace E. and Alice Edna (Barnes) Richmond. Mrs. Smith was a high school biology teacher in the Newton, Mass., school system for 32 years. She leaves two stepsons, Charles R. Smith of Cincinnati and W. Christen Smith of Terrace Park, Ohio.; eight step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Smith on Jan. 7, 1980; her parents; and two brothers, John B. and Wallace Richmond.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village, 225 Britton Lane, Monroe, with the Revs. Stan Gockel and Bill Phillips officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati.

Calista VanHorn
Calista VanHorn, 91, of Middletown, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe. She was born in Lockland, Ohio, on Jan. 7, 1909, to Charles VanHorn and Inez (Driever) VanHorn. Calista worked for Crystal Tissue after graduation at age 16. She retired 46 years later as assistant secretary and treasurer. She was a life member of Soroptimist. Her sister, Martha Taylor, and brother, Charles E. VanHorn, preceded her in death. She is survived by a half sister, Gloria Gebhart of Middletown; a nephew, Russ Taylor of Grosse Ile, Mich.; a niece, Carolyn Parrella of Middletown; a great-nephew, Russell M. Taylor of Chapel Hill, N.C.; great-nieces Cyndia Kirehhoff of Cary, N.C., Michelli Parrella of Middletown and Jennifer Vanderhorst of Beavercreek, Ohio.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.

James J. Arnold
James J. Arnold, 81, of Germantown, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 3, 2000, at Miami Valley Hospital. Jim was a veteran of World War II, having served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps in the African & European theater. He was a member of the Germantown Masonic Lodge F & A M # 257, the Mound High Twelve Club #217 of Miamisburg, Ohio, and the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Germantown. He retired as an accountant from Monarch Marking Systems and was a 50-year member of the Institute of Management Accountants. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. O.O. Arnold; his first wife, Anne; and two brothers, Richard and Winifield. Survivors include his wife, Mary Michael Arnold; three sisters, Mary E. McCrea of Dayton, Louise Reason of Troy and Regina Wheelbarger of Farmington, N.M.; a brother, Paul Arnold of Germantown; a stepdaughter, Sarah Michael of Washington, D.C.; two stepsons, Roger Michael of Centerburg, Ohio, and Edwin Michael of Maple Grove, Minn.; five stepgrandchildren, Rodney, Frank, Anne, Jennifer and Joshua Michael; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at David Cemetery (corner of Far Hills Avenue and David Road), Dayton, Ohio, Rev. Marvin Mulford officiating.

Helen Boian
Helen J. Boian, 85, of Columbus, Ohio, died Friday, Sept. 1, in Columbus. She was born Sept. 26, 1914, in Middletown, the daughter of Florence Adele (Lindsay) Lubberger and William Lubberger. Survivors include two daughters, Adele (Don) Weiland of Columbus and Suzanne (David) Melville of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, Richard Weiland, Andrew Weiland and Tracey Melville; a nephew, Bob Lubberger and two nieces, Debbie Brock and Marlie Lubberger. She was preceded in death by her husband Gentry Park Boian, on April 14, 1986; father, William Lubberger; mother, Florence Adele Lubberger, and brother, Robert Lubberger.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Woodside Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Mellott officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Botos Sr.
Former Middletown resident John Botos Sr., 74, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at his home in Henderson, Nev. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on April 28, 1926. A Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he retired from the Navy as a chief petty officer. Later, he also retired from his civilian job as a bar manager. John was a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge, a charter member of the Chief Petty Officers Association and member of the Fleet Reserve. He was a 30-year resident of Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Ann, and daughter, Deborah Wurdock, both of Nevada; sons John Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev., and Richard of Middletown, Ohio; sisters Ester Greenwell of Middletown, Helen Schultz of Green Valley, Calif., and Sue Nicholas of Middletown; a brother, Robert of Loveland, Colo.; and one grandchild.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services were held at Palm Mortuary on Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, followed by full military honors at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev., on Sept. 15, 2000. The U.S. Navy also conducted a military service at sea. "God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be... So he put his arms around you and whispered 'Come with me.' "

Octava Callahan
FRANKLIN -- Octava Callahan, 87, of Franklin, passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at the Franklin Ridge Nursing Home. Mrs. Callahan was the wife of the late Clifford Callahan and is survived by her sons, Harold (Linda) Callahan, Charles (Barbara) Callahan, Robert (Helen) Callahan and the late Gerald and Margaret Sue Callahan. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Kindred, and sister, Elizabeth Glossip. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Prosser Chapter 367 and the Franklin Baptist Church.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second St., Franklin. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Springboro Cemetery.

Laura 'Jane' Conrad
Laura "Jane" Conrad, 85, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, surrounded by her loving family at Chestwood Retirement Village in West Chester. She was born June 24, 1915, in Excello, the daughter of Frank and Emma Eckert. "Jane," as she was known by family and friends, will be remembered as a skilled gardener, especially for her beautiful flowers. She resided in the Amanda and Monroe areas throughout her life. Mrs. Conrad worked in the school cafeterias at Amanda Elementary School, Amanda Junior High School and Middletown High School, retiring in 1980. She was a lifetime member of Amanda United Methodist Church. She is survived by her loving family, Susan and Sam Skeens of Middletown and Sally and Steve Brittain of Monroe; three grandchildren, David (Kathy) Skeens of Monroe, Laura (Ron) Bohannon of Middletown and Thomas Brittain of Monroe; one stepdaughter, Amy (Rob) Brittain-Caudill of Middletown; four great-grandsons, Joshua, Nicholas, Andrew and Samuel of Middletown; four step-great-grandchildren, Erin and Jennifer of Monroe and Lydia and Nolan of Middletown and one sister, Betty (Val) Akers of Middletown. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Fred David Conrad, who died May 2, 1989; her twin brother, Thomas Eckert, in 1982; another brother, Palmer Eckert, in 1968 and one stepgrandson, Justin Brittain, in 1997.

Freida Hall
Freida Hall, 76, of Middletown, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 2, 1924, and lived in the area all of her life. Mrs. Hall was an antique collector since 1955. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Maggie Combs; sisters, Myrtle Miller, Margaret Combs and Martha Combs and brothers, Harlan Combs, Thomas Combs, Elmer Combs, Clifford Combs and Earl Combs. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth B. Hall; a son, Thomas D. Hall and wife Lisa of Tallahasee, Fla.; a daughter, Sharon K. Hancock of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandsons, Troy Hall of Esslinger, Germany and Matthew Hall of Tallahassee, and two brothers, Clarence (Ed) Combs and David Combs, both of Middletown.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial is in Butler County Memorial Park.

Carl Elton Hayes
Carl Elton Hayes, 79, of Middletown, died Sept. 1, 2000, at his residence in Middletown. He was born April 26, 1921, in Coleanor, Ala., and had lived in Middletown for 42 years. Mr. Hayes was an electrician, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 665 of Caryville, Tenn., Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite and Shriner's in Dayton. He is survived by two daughters, Imogene O'Lenick and husband, Tom of Middletown and Linda Carroll of Middletown; a son, Terry Hayes of Knoxville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Roselyn Woodard of Hebron, Ind., and Athalee Wilson of Miamisburg, Ohio, and a brother, Charles Raymond Hayes of Maryville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zola Hayes, who was married to him for 50 years and preceded him in death in 1995; parents, William McDuffey and Maude (Barrett) Hayes; brothers, Leon Hayes, Leroy Hayes and Robert Hayes and sister, Doris Weeks.

Chester Jewell
Chester Jewell, 57, of Middletown died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his residence. He was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Beattyville, Ky., and has lived in Middletown for 50 years. Mr. Jewell was an optician for 41 years, retiring in 1998. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anna (Cox) Jewell; two sons, Tim (wife, Debbie) Jewell and Chester D. (wife, Tina) Jewell, all of Middletown; two daughters, Angie Young of Middletown and Anna Lee (husband, David) Taylor of West Alexandria; eight grandchildren, Jessica (husband, John) Gambrell, Kimberly (fiancé, Michael Graham) Jewell, Andy Jewell, Christina Jewell, Nikki Taylor, Cody Taylor, Amber Young and Dylan Young; his mother, Nora Brock of Middletown; three brothers, Ed Brock of Butler, Ky., and Sam and Arch Brock, both of Middletown; four sisters, Auda Trent and Mary Smith of Middletown, Thelma Long of Vancouver, Wash., and Belvie Cassidy of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Chester Brock.

General Marion King
General Marion King, 70, of Gallatin, Tenn., died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000. He was born March 3, 1930, in Montgomery, W. Va. Mr. King lived 10 years in the Middletown area. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and worked in maintenance at Armco Steel for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Zelda King; twin son, Donald King; a brother, Chester King and sisters, Hazel Fields and Betty Lynn Ward. Survivors include his wife, Saundra Ann King; sons, James "Butch" King (Pat) of Mainville and Rondal Lee King of Middletown; daughters, Mary Lou Robinson (Michael) of Cincinnati, Norma Kay Surgenor (Ken) of Dallas, Katherine Ann Adams (John) of Middletown and Bobbi Jean King of Gallatin; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Issac King of Boston and Charles King of Savannah, Ga., and sisters, Roberta Jacks and Juanita Gray, both of Lady Lake, Fla.

Hazel L. Lewis
Mrs. Hazel L. Lewis, 78, of Middletown, died Sunday morning, Sept. 3, 2000, at her residence. She was a member of the First Church of God in Franklin. Mrs. Lewis was the manager of the Long Branch Saloon for 18 years and retired in 1999. She was born in Adams County on Jan. 24, 1922, to Vernon and Amanda (Butts) Varvel. She is survived by two daughters, Pattie (Earl) Carpenter of Middletown and Lou (Kenneth) Lowe of Middletown; a very special grandson, Roger Moore of Middletown; four brothers, Raymond Varvel of Greenville, Harry Varvel of Coldwater, Eugene Varvel of Richmond, Ind., and Larry Varvey of Sturgis, Mich.; and two sisters, Barbara Melling of Greenville, and Patty Louk of Winchester, Ind. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert T. Lewis in 1974; five brothers; four sisters; a great-great-granddaughter; and her parents.

Mary E. Majors
Mrs. Mary E. Majors, 81, of Middletown, passed away Sunday afternoon, Sept. 3, 2000, at Hospice of Cincinnati. She had been ill for several years. She was born on Oct. 16, 1918, in Kentucky and had lived in Middletown most of her life. Mrs. Majors was preceded in death by her husband, Neil, on April 4, 1985. She leaves her daughter, Opal Majors Crist of Hamilton; a grandson, David Neil Crist of Cincinnati; a great-grandson, Tyler Neil Crist of Cincinnati; a sister, Lily Hoover of Middletown; and several relatives in Knoxville, Tenn.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Rose Mortuary, Knoxville, Tenn. She was buried beside her husband in the Bookwalter Methodist Cemetery in Knoxville. Local arrangements were handled by Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home.

Rollie W. McClurg
Rollie W. McClurg, 81, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at the home of his granddaughter, Carla Maschmeier of Monroe. He was born in Bluestone, Ky., on June 29, 1919, the son of John and Bertha McClurg, and lived in this area some 60 years, retiring from Armco Steel Co. in 1978. Mr. McClurg was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Donna Mae Elam, Hazel Lykins and Opal Perdue; two brothers, Willie and Edward McClurg; a daughter, Ruth M. Dearth and life companion, Fannie Lyons Basford. Surviving are a daughter, Carol Sue (Steve) Lukens of Griffith, Ind., and a son, Darrel (Gerry) Basford of Monroe; a sister, Helen Fannin of Morehead, Ky.; nine grandchildren, Carla (Robert) Maschmeier, Tonya (Jerry) Stamper of Carlisle, Michael Lacey Lukens of Griffith, Ind., Michael (Mindy) Basford and Mark (Cindy) Basford of Middletown, Matthew (Melissa) Basford of Hendersonville, Tenn., Mary (Jason) Creech of Monroe, Jay (Linda) Dearth of Trenton, and Jeff (Tammy) Dearth of Laporte, Ind.; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at the memorial chapel of Northcutt & Son Funeral Home in Morehead, Ky. The Rev. Jay Harmon will officiate. Interment will be in the Siloam Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. McClurg was held Tuesday.

Mrs. Maude Hughes Witherspoon McFillen, 88, went home to be with her precious Lord Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000. Her life was dedicated to serving the Lord and her family. She was born in Burrville, Tenn., April 20, 1912, a daughter of Melvin and Nancy (Young) Hughes. She had lived in the Middletown area since 1933. She was a former member of the Daughters of America. She is survived by her husband, Clement McFillen, a son, Wiley Witherspoon (Claudette) of Gallatin, Tenn.; three daughters, Ruth Snelling (Bill) of Middletown, Marilyn Daulton (Carthel) of Somerset, Ky., and Kay Baber (Jim) of Springboro; two stepdaughters, Barbara McFillen of Germantown and Bertie Staab of Norwood; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leroy Hughes of Loveland; a half-sister, Kay Edward of Somerset and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her first husband, Wiley Victor Witherspoon, in Sept. 1980; a son, Billy Eugene Witherspoon; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Snelling; two sisters, Helen Silverman and Eva White; a niece, Clara Juge, and a half-brother, Melvin Lee Hughes.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted privately with the Rev. C. Nolan Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery.

Geneva Treadway
HAMILTON -- Geneva Lee Treadway, 86, of Hamilton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000. She was born in Primrose, Lee County, Ky., Sept. 21, 1913, the daughter of Charlie and Nannie (Abner) Bailey. She was a member of the Trenton Christian Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas C. and Carol Treadway of Middletown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorena and Bob Nixon of Lebanon and Wanda F. and Gerry Hoehn of Hamilton; eight grandchildren and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Treadway of Osgood, Ind., and Virginia Shoemaker of Middletown and many friends and relatives. Her husband, James Luther Treadway, preceded her in death in 1984.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trenton Christian Church, 5259 Oxford State Road, with the Rev. David Hopkins officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. The family gives special thanks to Garden Manor Nursing Center and to Vitas Hospice Care. Arrangements are by Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home.

Loretta Weihrauch
Mrs. Loretta R. Weihrauch, 79, of 4107 Riverview Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000. She was born in Manteno, Ill., June 15, 1921, and worked in sales as a manager for Mayor's Jewelers. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, James E. Weihrauch; a sister, Velma Gertler of Coral Springs, Fla.; two brothers, John Reed of Louisville, Ky., and Lloyd Reed of Charlotte, N.C.; her stepchildren, Michael Weihrauch of Moline, Ill., Bruce Weihrauch of Aurora, Ill., Scott Weihrauch of East Windsor, N.J., James Edward Weihrauch III of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Peggy Cooper of Moline, Ill., Cheryl Gowin of Katy, Texas, and Deborah Weihrauch of Cleveland; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until service time Wednesday.

Kenneth G. Winkler
Kenneth G. Winkler, 74, of St. Clair Township, passed away at his residence, at 7:21 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000. He was born in Estill County, Ky., on March 19, 1926, the son of Robert and Bessie (Cox) Winkler. Kenneth was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945 and was employed as a machinist for Ford Motor Co. in Sharonville for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Hugh L. Bates Lodge 686 F & AM; Scottish Rite Valley Temple of Cincinnati; Shrine Syrian Temple and his most cherished membership was at Princeton Pike Church of God, where he was an usher for the last 23 years. On Sept. 2, 1950, in Irvine, Ky., he was married to Treva Baker. He was survived by his wife, Treva Winkler of St. Clair Township; two daughters, Patty and husband Regan Roark and Pamela J. Winkler, both of Hamilton; one beloved grandson, Dylan Travis Roark of Hamilton; one brother, Glen (Carol) Winkler of Lexington, Ky.; four sisters, Pauline (Bob) Winkler of Hamilton, Katherine (Roscoe) Lainhart of Irvine, Ky., Maude (Al) Winkler of Liberty, Ind., and Faye (Roy) Marcum of Lexington, Ky. and a sister-in-law, Lena Winkler of Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Princeton Pike Church of God, 2370 Princeton Road with the Rev. Sam Luke officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Cincinnati, Dr. Christopher Meier and Dr. Arthur Richards for their loving care.

Ruth (Kolb) Workman
Ruth (Kolb) Workman, 99, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at Friendship Village, Dayton. Ruth was the daughter of Philip and Anna Schwenn. She was a member of the Polk Grove United Church of Christ, Aviators Grandmothers Club and Vandalia Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by husbands, Albert W. Kolb and Miner Workman; a sister, Helen Crawford; two brothers, Raymond and Clifford Schwenn and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn (Miller) Kolb. Survivors include daughters and sons-in law, Patricia and Kendall Amlin, Vandalia, and Joanne and Roger Burns of Omaha, Neb.; sons and daughters-in-law, A. William and Marge Kolb of Centerville, and Stanley E. Joyce Kolb of Middletown; grandchildren David and Christy Amlin of Vandalia, Steven and Pamela Amlin of Vandalia, Jeffery and Joyce Amlin of Yellow Springs, Craig and Judy Amlin of Indianapolis, Jennifer and David Halman of Columbus, Nancy and Lee Olson of Marietta, Ga., Deborah Morris of Centerville, Laura and Roger Giesel of Cincinnati, Thomas Kolb of Franklin, John and Pamela Kolb of Dayton, Kevin Burns of Omaha, Neb., and Keith and Paula Burns of Omaha, Neb. Ruth has 24 great-grandchildren. She also has stepgrandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Craig Amlin officiating. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memorial Gardens, south of Centerville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia.
