James V. Peck
James V. Peck, 70, of Munson Township, died Sept. 17 2005 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital.
Born April 23, 1935, in Erie, Pa., he resided for 10 years in the Chardon area and previously in Lyndhurst.
General manager of the Airfoil Division of TRW in Cleveland, he had a distinguished career in metallurgy. He earned a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University and owned three patents.
He married Joan M. Jonasen on Aug. 23, 1958, in Erie.
A member of the Church of St. Helen in Newbury, he enjoyed stamp collecting, astronomy, computers, photography and woodworking.
Mr. Peck is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Sharon M. (James) Baird, of Munson, Pamela M. (Kenneth) Consolo, of Willoughby Hills, and Jennifer A. (Donald) Engle, of Avon Lake; sons, James M. (Katherine), of Boca Raton, Fla., John M. (Ann), of Okinawa, Japan, and Michael N. (Mary Clare) Peck, of Cincinnati; 22 grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia L. (Richard) Barrett, of Clemson, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent A. and Mary (nee Lee) Peck.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 22 at Church of St. Helen in Newbury, and burial was in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Building Fund of the Church of St. Helen, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury 44065.
Diane J. Wells
Diane J. Wells (nee Seiler), 55, of Hambden Township, died Sept. 17 2005 at her home.
Born Aug. 29, 1950, in Cleveland, she resided in Hambden for 28 years and previously in Bedford.
She married David Elmer Wells on Aug. 22, 1970, in New York City. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2003.
Mrs. Wells enjoyed jewelry making, gardening and crocheting.
She is survived by her son, Victor (Joan) Wells, of Jamestown, Pa.; daughter, Sherry (Mike) Yeckley, of Hambden; mother, Nadine Seiler, of Cleveland; brothers, Dale (Donna), of Tennessee, and Allen Seiler; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, David, she was preceded in death by her father, Myron Seiler.
Funeral services were held Sept. 23, and burial was in Hamden Township Cemetery.

Terri Wilder
Terri Wilder (nee Gluf), 50, of Seabrook, Texas, and formerly of Chagrin Falls, died Sept. 9 2005 in Houston, following a battle with cancer for 10 years.
Born in Chardon on July 2, 1955, she attended St. Joan of Arc School and graduated in 1973 from Chagrin Falls High School.
She attended Ohio Northern University and received a degree from St. Luke's School of Cytology. She worked in the cytology lab at Portsmouth Hospital in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She and her mother moved to Canoga Park, Calif., where she worked in Canoga Park Hospital. While living in California, she met and married Raymond Wilder. They relocated to League City, Texas, where she was an assistant in the hospital pharmacy at Herman Hospital in Houston. She then became pharmacy inventory manager at Ben Taub Hospital, also in Houston, until her death.
Mrs. Wilder loved boating and was a member of the NRA, after she took a class at the shooting range.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; daughter, Kelli; father, Carl Gluf; brothers, Carl Jr. and Cary: sister, Jane; and stepmother, Caroline.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 24 at St. Joan of Arc Church in Chagrin Falls.
MARY PATRICIA (PAT) BRUSH
Of Chagrin Falls, died Monday, November 21, 2005 in her home at the age of 82. She was born on December 11, 1922 in Evanston, Illinois, the oldest daughter of Frank and Lillian Hansen. Pat immensely enjoyed her work as an elementary teacher in the Chagrin Falls Schools. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Mount Saint Mary's College in West Los Angeles, California. Pat was an avid sailor, enjoying her summers in Green Lake, Wisconsin.
Friends received 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. on Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home at 95 S. Franklin Street, Chagrin Falls. Funeral Mass celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc, 496 E. Washington St., Chagrin Falls. Burial at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
Pat is survived by her husband, Ted of Chagrin Falls; daughters Kathy (Peter) Tolan of New Philadelphia, Ohio; Susan (Bill) Harr of Waterville, Ohio, and sons Todd (Diane) Brush of Aurora, Ohio; Tim (Sharyl) Brush of Elyria, Ohio and Peter Brush of Libertyville, Illinois and 11 loving grandchildren.

RICHARD K. KOCH
Passed away December 2, 2005 in Oak Island, NC. Born October 26, 1925 in Buffalo, NY and lived in Concord Township for more than 30 years. He moved to Chardon from 1995 until 2004 also wintering in Treasure Island, FL. He moved to Oak Island, NC in 2004.
Veteran of World War II, serving in the US Air Force and worked 38 years at TRW, Valve Division, Cleveland, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Passa-Grill Community Church, FL and while in Concord Twp, a member of the Mentor United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the "Old Guard" at TRW. Mr. Koch enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who fondly referred to him as "Buddy." In his retirement years, he enjoyed playing golf and traveling. After his military service he played semi-professional baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Since his retirement, he served as a volunteer for SCORE, Meals on Wheels and Red Coats at Play House Square in the Theatre District, Cleveland.
Richard K. Koch married Virginia L. Fogo in East Cleveland, Ohio in 1951. She preceded him in death in 1990. Also proceeded in death by parents; William J. and Esther (nee. Pirson) Koch, and brother Donald Koch.
He is survived by daughters, Patricia Ann (Edward) Laturell of Watkinsville, GA, Barbara Lee (William) Sanders of Berea, OH; son, Richard Bradford (Elaine) Koch of Oak Island, NC; grandchildren, Sgt. Edward (Emily) Laturell, Tim (Derekia) Laturell, Johnny Laturell, Richard C. and Matthew Koch, Kenny and Jessica Pritt, Mark (Bonnie) Ellis, Catherine (Richard) Barmore and Deborah (Lance) Tulley. GENEVIEVE C. HAMILTON (nee Cooper)
91, longtime elementary teacher, passed away November 23, 2005 at Burton Health Care.
Mrs. Hamilton was a 1st grade teacher at Lenox Elementary (Ashtabula County), and beginning in 1953 with the Kenston School District. She retired from Kenston in 1973.
Genevieve was born in Geneva, Ohio. She graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Kent State University. She lived in Auburn Twp. for 53 years and was pianist and organist at Auburn Community Church for over 40 years beginning in 1945.
During the 1990's, and until her passing, Genevieve participated in research and drug studies at The University Hospitals Memory and Aging Center. Genevieve was the beloved wife of the late Harold P. Hamilton. She is survived by her children; Bob (Linda) of Newbury, Carol B. of Gates Mills, and Joan (Craig Woodson) of Bainbridge Twp. She was also a beloved Grandmother of Shannon, Kelly (Jim), Eric, Sara and Theo. Genevieve was also Great-Grandmother of Kaden.

BARBARA LEIGHTON (nee Brown)
Age 84 of Grande Village, Twinsburg, formerly an Aurora resident from 1970-2003 died November 30, 2005 at Bedford Community Hospital from complications of pancreatic cancer.
Born September 21, 1921 in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wayne G. Brown and Bethel (nee Biddle). She graduated from Ohio University, where she met her husband, Kenneth M., in 1943. They were married July 8, 1944 and lived in East Cleveland where she taught English until time to raise her three children.
Barbara loved music, she played the piano and was a member of "Songspinners," a choral group in Aurora, as well as a study club. She worked on crossword puzzles and rarely missed an episode of "Wheel of Fortune."
Barbara is survived by her husband; three children, Marty (husband David) Schilling of Solon, Kenneth B. (wife Jeanne) Leighton of Aurora, and Deborah Leighton of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Erin Myers, Sarah, Matthew, and Timothy Schilling, Kenneth, Jeffrey, Marc, and Anthony Leighton, and a great grandchild, Jack. One grandson, Michael, died two years ago.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 3, at 11:30 am in The Kindrich-McHugh Steinbauer Funeral Home, 33375 Bainbridge Rd., Solon, where family will visit with friends two hours prior to services.

KATHLEEN M. BOCHIK
A lifelong resident of the Chagrin Valley, died December 9, 2005 at the age of 60, following an extended illness. She was born March 1, 1945, the daughter of Robert and Betty Tucker Blair.
After graduating from Chagrin Falls High School, she attended Hiram College, earning her BA in History in 1967. She worked for Ohio Bell, Ameritech, and SBC for over twenty-five years before retiring in 2000.
She is survived by her son, Robert, his wife Jennifer, and their children Sierra and Vanner, of Aurora Shores, Ohio; and her daughter, Kristin Ruiter, her husband P.J., and their children Raquel and Brooke, of Chagrin Falls. She also leaves her mother, Betty, and brother, Terrence Blair, of South Russell; brother Robert Blair of Pickerington, Ohio; and sister Barbara Blair, of Felt, Oklahoma.
Friends were received Tuesday, December 13 at Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home in Chagrin Falls. Following a private internment at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, family and friends celebrated her life at a memorial service at the Federated Church in Chagrin Falls on December 14.

IRENE MAE EDEN
Irene Eden, (nee Farrar) age 80 of Twinsburg, formerly of Solon, died December 6, 2005 at Hillcrest Hospital from heart complications.
Born in Valley View, Ohio on April 20, 1925 to Harry Farrar and Ethel (nee Matthews), she was one of three children. Raised in Chagrin Falls, she graduated from Chagrin Falls High School in 1943. She married Albert E. Eden "Bud" on April 28, 1945 and moved to Solon. She raised two children, has been blessed with four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Irene worked for Cisar Insurance Company in Solon from 1964-1985 as an office manager and was known to have known most of her customers by just hearing their voice. She loved gardening, baking, and golf and was a caretaker of Solon Community Church, spending countless hours volunteering her time for the church. Irene was a member of the order of the Rebeka's.
Mrs. Eden is survived by two sons, Tom of Columbus, and Robert (Darlene) of Eastlake; four grandchildren, Nori (Neal) Wolf, Cole Eden, Matthew (Sue Macks) Eden, and Becky (Frank) Eichenlaub; great grandmother of Sam, Hunter, Mason, Blake, Joseph, Eden, and Caden; and siblings, Betty Brunst (the late Eugene) of Solon, Robert Farrar (Mary Ann) of Twinsburg, and sister-in-law Violet Brown of Portland, Oregon.
Services will be held Thursday, December 8, at 7:30PM in The Kindrich-McHugh Steinbauer Funeral Home, 33375 Bainbridge Rd,., Solon, where family will visit with friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday.

GAETANA "GAY" KETCHEL
(nee Rizzolla)
Age 75 of Bainbridge suffered a serious stroke and died surrounded by her family on December 11, 2005.
Born June 9, 1930 in Garfield Heights, Ohio she graduated from South High School and attended Fenn College where she was a member of Kappa Sigma Upsilon sorority.
Gay met her husband Edwin J. while attending Fenn College and they were married September 9, 1956. They lived in the Chagrin Valley for 44 years where she raised two daughters. Gay was an active member of St. Joan of Arc parish, the Chagrin Valley Women's Club, and the Christ Child Society. Her life centered around family activities. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Gay enjoyed reading, the arts, and most of all, the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Gay is survived by her children Sharon Ward (Joe) of Columbus, Ohio and Allyson Lurch (Wayne Jr.) of Bainbridge; grandchildren Sarah, Jeffrey, and Jackie; her brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Angela Rizzolla and her sister Louise Rizzolla. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents Michele and Josephine Rizzolla.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home, 95 S. Franklin Street, Chagrin Falls from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 16, 10:00am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 496 E. Washington Street, Chagrin Falls.

JOHN R. LOWE, JR.
Aged 83, of Grand Rapids, MI, formerly Chagrin Falls, OH, died at Porter Hills December 5, 2005.
Surviving are his two children, David Lowe of Orange, CT and Cynthia L. (Steve) VanAndel of Ada, MI and Wellington, FL and one sister, Mildred Matthew of Laramie, WY and Tucson, AZ. Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Woolmington) Lowe and brother, Charles Arthur Lowe.
He was a life long member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and was active in community activities.

HOWARD FLYTE
Former resident of Paw Paw Lake, Howard B. Flyte, 78, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on April 11, 2006, at his home in Gilbert.He was born on February 10, 1928 in Williamsport, Pa., son ofHoward B. Flyte and Edna A. Krause.
Mr. Flyte was married in Lancaster, Pa., on October 25, 1952 to the former Lois P. Young, who survives him, as well as three sons: Mark H. Flyte (Loles), Todd R. Flyte (Michelle), and Scott W. Flyte (Dana), and four grandchildren.
Howard graduated from Forty Fort High School, Forty Fort, Pa., and in June 1952 from Lafayette College, Easton, Pa. He then spent his adult life in sales in the lumber, aluminum, and other building products industry.He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, as a Seaman 2C, radioman, stationed aboard the submarine tender, Howard W. Gilmore, based at the Key West Naval Station, Florida.
Mr. Flyte s ashes were interred in the Veterans National Cemetery, Cave Creek, AZ, following a graveside Military Service held on April 19, 2006.Donations, if desired, may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
Marilyn J. Allison
Marilyn J. Allison, age 72, died April 26 at her home in Solon, Ohio. Much loved for her warm and caring personality, she is mourned by numerous family members and lifelong friends both in Ohio and on the East Coast.
Born on April 13, 1934, in the Ridgewood section of Queens, New York, she was the daughter of August and Gizella Johanning, who preceded her in death. A graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, she received her B.A. degree from Queens College and then went on to receive a Master of Applied Social Sciences degree from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Marilyn began her career as a social worker at Cleveland Psychiatric Institute and later was a case worker for Northeast Ohio Mental Health Services. In addition to nurturing her family, she worked for many years for Catholic Social Services of Cuyahoga County, where she counseled teenage boys and girls and their parents.
A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 45 years, George; her son, Mark Allison (Beth) of Orange, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Morgan and Andrew. Her daughter, Joan, preceded her in death.
A member of Solon Community Church for more than 30 years, Marilyn was also an active and beloved member of the Cleveland Hiking Club. Over the past 10 years, she and her husband logged many miles on park trails in the Cleveland area and joined fellow hikers on hiking trips to the western U.S., Nova Scotia, Scotland, England, and the Canadian Rockies. An avid Penn State football fan, she enjoyed attending the home games at State College, Pennsylvania, with her husband during the football season. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

ELEANOR MARGARET KYTTA HORTON

Born in Cleveland, the only child of Lucy and John Kytta, and raised in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Eleanor Horton peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, in Sacramento, California. Loving and loved by family and friends, she was for many years the family matriarch and will be sorely missed.
Eleanor was adopted at age two by Emma and Matt Helberg of Vincent and subsequently High Streets in Chagrin Falls after losing her mother during the influenza pandemic in 1920 and subsequently her father. Entering the first grade, she had to quickly learn English as a second language since she spoke only Finnish at home. Her adoptive family also included Helen Helbert Hentemann, Lila Helberg Chambers and Stanley Helberg. During the 1930 s, she worked at a local ice cream store, ice skated on the river in the winter and swam there in the summer.
A graduate of Chagrin Falls High School (1936), she married John Edward Horton in the Federated Church Parsonage in Chagrin in 1938. Moving to Willoughby, Ohio, she and John had two children, Ann Laird Horton and Jeffrey John Horton. During WWII, Eleanor volunteered as a driver for the American Red Cross Motor Corps and as a leader of a Willoughby Brownie troop. The family moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1951.
Eleanor began her California work career at TurboJet in Highland Park, a Los Angeles suburb, moved on to Litton Industries and rounded out her job life at Hughes Aircraft where she retired in 1985. Being a tireless worker in her spare time, she was also a talented seamstress, braided rug maker, furniture refinisher and upholster. She learned to make caning and re?rushed her own antique chairs. She took bonsai classes and pruned many a lovely plant. She loved to travel to the family beach hideaway south of Ensenda in Baja California for over thirty?five years where she always enjoyed working on the trailer, walking on the beach, sunning, working puzzles, reading andhanging outwith family.She made friends quickly and had an interesting sense of humor. She also enjoyed traveling; she returned to Chagrin with children and grandchildren about every five years and made a one month trip to Finland in the 1970 s to learn more about her family s background.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Ann, of Sacramento, and son, Jeffrey, grandchildren, Cheewio Horton and Neehala Christen, and great-grandson, Kevin Christen, all of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Family in California includes sister-in-law, Doris Covert Horton Thompson, nieces and nephews, Michael Horton, Kellie Horton, Robert Horton and MerriAnn Leonard. Ohio nieces and nephews include June Wade of Hiram and Joan Heartz, Joe Hentemann and Sue Mullen of Chagrin.

Robert Butler Tomaro, Vice-Chairman of Gilmour Academy s Board of Trustees and Member of its Executive Committee, died suddenly Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Mr. Tomaro also held the office of Secretary for Gilmour Academy.He graduated from the Academy in 1967.
Mr. Tomaro was a Partner at Tucker Ellis and West LLP.His Practice Areas included Business Transactions & Securities; Estates, Trusts & Probate; Taxation; Finance; Nonprofit Organizations and Information Technology.He was a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law and Denison University.He was admitted to the State Bar of Ohio in 1974, when he began the fulltime practice of law.
Mr. Tomaro was active in numerous organizations.In addition to his activities at Gilmour Academy, he was a member and Chief Counsel for Chagrin Valley Country Club and served on their Insurance Committee.He also served on the Parish Counsel of Saint Joan of Arc Church where he was a member of their Finance Committee.Mr. Tomaro was a member of the Cleveland Executives Association and the Corporation, Banking and Business Law Section of the Cleveland Bar Association.He was a frequent lecturer on corporate and taxation matters.Mr. Tomaro also held the Designation of Sjt. in the Court of Nisi Prius.
Mr. Tomaro lived in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, with his wife and two sons.His other interests included fell walking and in that arena he was the Chief Legal Counsel for IFFW & WD.At Chagrin Valley Country Club he was an avid golfer and was known to have said,No putt ever got longer by being marked. Mr. Tomaro was a memorable dancer and storyteller; and will be remembered by all who knew him as a true gentleman with a contagious laugh.
CLAUDE R. HAMMONDS, JR.
Claude R. Hammonds, Jr., age 76, of Chagrin Falls, passed away on June 1, 2006.Beloved husband of 42 years to the late Bernice (Bunny) Hammonds.Loving father of Peter Hammonds and Suzanne Lasch (Rick).He also had a son, Daniel Hammonds, that preceded him in death in 1984.
Claude (Gus) graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1951.During his attendance at Miami he joined the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.After college, Gus was drafted into the Army and served his nation proudly during the Korean War.Stationed in France, Gus was a cryptographer for the military at the beginning of the Cold War.After being honorably discharged from the military, Gus packed up his convertible MG and moved to Cleveland.He held numerous jobs with different employers:Lincoln Electric, Sweets Catalogue, Keller Publishing and Laminex.Laminex, however, was the golden egg for Gus.He sold laminating machines all over the world.At a time when governments began to issue identification cards, Laminex caught the wave of success in this industry.After selling Laminex in 1969, Gus lived in Cleveland Heights with his wife Bunny and their three children:Dan, Pete and Suzanne.In 1975, Gus moved his family to Chagrin Falls on Sugarbush Lane.With the success of Laminex behind him, Gus spent his days opening other companies:Western Business Machines and Spectrum Coatings, along with indulging his passion for fishing, hunting and golfing.As an avid fly fisherman, Gus took trips to England, Alaska and many streams out west in Yellowstone.
Besides enjoying his time with friends, Gus lived his life for his children and grandchildren:Benjamin, Abigail, Alyson and William.His presence to all will be forever missed.
