Everett D. Akerman

Everett Dana Akerman, 80, Findlay, passed away at 9:15 pm, Friday, December 19, 2003 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. E.D. was born May 16, 1923 in Grover Hill, OH to James Everett and Faye (Uhlenhaker) Akerman and they preceded him in death. In November 1942, he married Lola Reha Smith. He married Lola's twin Lula Reva on June 26, 1953 after Lola died during childbirth and Lula survives. Of Lula and E.D.'s eight children, six survive. They are Nancy Blackford Siferd of North Canton, OH, Diane Akerman Phillips of Findlay, Beverly Blackford Tincher of North Miami, FL, Susan Blackford Hurst of Little Rock, AR, Reha Akerman Smith of El Dorado, AR and David Akerman of Hot Springs, AR. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; his brothers John Akerman of Findlay and Bill Akerman of Mt. Blanchard and his sister Naomi Tesnow of Findlay. Preceding him in death are two brothers, Ray Akerman and Gene Ackerman; two sons, Randall and William Akerman; and one grandson Kenny Phillips. E.D. was a longtime and honored employee of Cooper Tire, beginning in general utility work at the Findlay plant. He also worked at the Auburn, IN and El Dorado, AR plants, rising to the position of plant superintendent. He retired in 1984 and returned to Findlay in 1985. Mr. Akerman was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. As a sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII, he served in Belgium, France and Germany, including the Battle of Ardennes and the Battle of the Bulge. He earned two Bronze Stars. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be in Lee Cemetery, Amanda Twp. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday, December 22 at the funeral home. The family expresses gratitude for the care Mr. Akerman received from his doctors and nurses.
Theron H. Arras

Theron H. L. Arras, age 92, originally from Jenera, died at 8:10 p.m. at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, OH. He was born December 30, 1910 to Oliver and Clara V. (Smith) Arras, in Eagle Twp, in the home of his great-grandfather Philip Arras. He married Elizabeth Mae Miller on September 19, 1937 in Findlay and she died December 22, 1999. He is survived by his sisters Magdaline Leiter of Findlay and Lucia M. Benington of Germantown, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife; brother Howard L. Arras and his sister Jeanne Hoch. Mr. Arras attended grade school in Jenera, High School at Upper Sandusky and graduated from Findlay High School in 1929. He also attended part-time at Findlay College. He then went on to work for National Refining Company in Findlay, the Ohio Fuel Gas Company, Findlay, the Ohio Inspection Bureau in Lima and Columbus and finally retired on January 1, 1976 as Customer Service Representative with Insurance Services Office, Inc. in Columbus, OH. Mr. Arras was also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, member Emeritus, National Safety Council, Chicago, IL, Chairman Great Lakes Division, Petroleum Division, National Petroleum Association, Washington, DC, Chairman of Michigan/Ohio Dept. of Fire and Accident Prevention, National Fire Protection Association, Boston, MA and staff member, Annual Fire School, College of Education, Ohio State University, Columbus, OH 1960-1970, All Ohio Safety Congress, Petroleum Section, Division of Safety and Hygiene, the Industrial Commission of Ohio and active in organization of meetings in connection with the petroleum industry in Ohio. Mr. Arras was also a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Upper Arlington, OH. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 22, 2003 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery in Madison Twp. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Clarinda M. Bracken-Larsen

Clarinda M. Bracken-Larsen 91, of Findlay, died at 2:00 a.m., December 16, 2003 at her residence. She was born on May 3, 1912 in Kansas City, Kansas to Pearl T. and Josephine (Kennedy) Bracken. She was married to Lionel K. Larsen on March 8, 1934, celebrating 50-years of love and friendship; he died in 1985. She is survived by son Burton B. Larsen and his loving wife Alberta Larsen. Also surviving are grandchildren Sheri Scott, Tracy and Blane Larsen all of Findlay, OH. Mrs. Larsen had five great-grandchildren; Ashley and Michion Scott, Britney, Bryce and Brooke Larsen. Mrs. Larsen is also survived by nephew Raymond Turkington of Ogallala, Nebraska and niece Ann Latscha of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Mrs. Larsen was a homemaker and a member of the Kansas City, Kansas Monday Club. She moved to Findlay, OH in 1994 to be close to her loving family. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Kansas City for 79 years and attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Findlay. Mrs. Larsen was a devout Christian and looked forward to being accepted into the Kingdom of God to join her sister Verna Tuttle who passed away earlier this year and her loving husband Lionel. She will forever be loved by her surviving family for the strength and kindness she showed everyone. Local services will be private; arrangements by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, OH. Ruth E. Radabaugh, age 88, of Findlay, died at 7:56 pm, Friday, December 19, 2003 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. She was born March 6, 1915 to Parle and Mary (Nusser) Oman in Hancock County. Ruth married Curtis G. Radabaugh on April 26, 1933 and he is deceased. She is survived by her son Howard of Findlay, daughters Mrs. Jay (Elaine) Marquart and Mrs. Roger (Helen) Harrold both of Findlay; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, several sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Pastor David Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Helen M. Stockdale, age 80, of Jenera, died at 3:48 pm, December 19, 2003 at Birchaven. She was born January 26, 1923 to Grover and Alice (Ewing) Pummell in Columbus, OH. Helen married John Harvey Stockdale on May 3, 1947 and he died July 28, 2000. She is survived by her children John R. Stockdale and Mrs. Jack (Fran) Butler, both of Findlay, Mrs. Mike (Jan S.) Repine of Marion, Mrs. Norm (Candy) Duffman of Vanlue and Sue Armbrecht of Toledo; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and her sister Rachel of Sebring, FL. She was preceded in death by her brother Bob Pummell and her sister Letheda Aldrich. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Rev. Patricia K. Thomas, age 56, of Findlay, died at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at her residence. She was born on September 21, 1947 to Leonard R. and Grace (Baldridge) Caldwell in Wheelersburg, OH and they survive, Rural Arlington. She married David Thomas on October 5, 1968 and he survives. Patricia is survived by her children Teresa Case of Avon Park, FL, Duane of Findlay, Sarah Hutchison of Chattanooga, TN, Daniel of Rural Arlington; her brother Harley Caldwell of Wheelersburg; her sister Carolyn Russell of Rural Arlington and six grandchildren. Preceding her in death are two brothers Eugene and Arley Caldwell and her sister Darlene Clark. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker, devoted Christian, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a 35-year member of The Bible Methodist Church in Findlay where she was the General Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and Custodian. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2003 at Bible Methodist Church, Findlay with Pastor Chris Cravens officiating. Interment will be in Lee Cemetery, Amanda Twp. Esther Mae Reese Treece, 89, formerly of Findlay, but had lived in North Georgia for the past 28 years, died early Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Hutcheson Medical Center, Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. She was born November 30, 1914 to Russell and Nellie (Herndon) Reese in Cygnet, OH. Esther married George W. Treece on June 15, 1935 in Findlay. She is survived by her daughters Carol Ann Lee, Ashland City, TN, Doris (Harold) Staley, Arcadia, FL, Patricia (Ronald) Longwith, Rossville, GA, and Ruby (Donald) Poling, Adrian, MI; her sister Marjorie (Russell) Essinger, Findlay and 14 grandchildren, Bill, Sue, Scott, Mike, Doug, David, Cherri, Kevin, Joe, Jeff, Angie, Amy, George and Andy; 21 great-grandchildren, Gabby, Sabrina, Jonathon, Jessica, Olivia, Samuel, Rachel, Ben, Bryson, Doren, Courtney, Joshua, Peyton, Brock, Gabby, August, Brandi, Christopher, Steven, Casi and Skylar; and several nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Juanita Jean Treece; son Thomas Lee; two brothers Ralph and Calvin Reese; five sisters, Helen Reese, Mary Grose, Bertha Pierce, Virginia Beach and Maxine Wilson; her son-in-law Larry Lee. Mrs. Treece was a homemaker, member of Fairview Baptist Church, the Homemakers Club of the church and volunteered at Hutcheson Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2003 at Arlington Cemetery with Rev. Lowell Reeder officiating. Mary L. Egbert, 82, of rural Arlington, died at 12:15 p.m., February 6, 2004 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. She was born on August 18, 1921 to Verne and Mae (VanWormer) Shafer in Biglick Twp., Hancock County. Mary married William D. Egbert on August 21, 1939 and he died February 16, 1990. She is survived by five sons Donald Egbert and his children Phillip Kutz, Laura Hutson, Jason and Jesse Egbert of Findlay; Fred D. (Lou Ann) Egbert of Wapakoneta, William H. (Arlene) Egbert of Arlington and their children Mark and April Egbert; Stephen W. (Jill) Egbert of Arlington and their children Timothy Egbert and Sara Fisher; Tom L. (Lana) Egbert of Mt. Blanchard and their children Kim Wagner, Danielle Freed, Aaron Odunkensenler and Zehra Jenkins; Daniel W. Egbert is deceased, but surviving is his son Scott Egbert; a daughter A. Colleen Woerner is also deceased, but is survived by her sons Robert and Randy Woerner, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and two nieces Debbie Woodruff and Shirley Ebersole. Mary was also preceded in death by two infant daughters Betty Ann and Rose Mary; two infant brothers and three infant sisters, three grandchildren, her sister Nancy Campbell and nephew Mike Campbell. Mrs. Egbert was a member of the Mt. Blanchard Church of The Nazarene where she was the former church treasurer, worked at Findlay Industries for 16 years and sold Avon for many, many years. Mary was a very kind, loving and nurturing person who knew no strangers and was compassionate to all. Her pet Sadie was constantly by her side and will miss her. James F. Jordan, age 63, of Findlay, died at 11:50 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Toledo Hospital. He was born on August 22, 1940 to Richard and Naomi (Taylor) Jordan in Kenova, West Virginia and his mother survives in Circleville, OH. He married Pamela Smith on December 31, 1991 and she survives. Also surviving are his son Mark Jordan and daughter Shelly Lear, both of Findlay and his step-sons Jason L. Smith of Findlay and Jeremy Smith of North Baltimore; brothers David Jordan of Fayetteville, NC, Bill and Gene Jordan, both of Circleville, OH, Lewis Jordan of Kingston, OH and three granddaughters. Ruth Geraldine Powell, 80, of Findlay, died Saturday morning February 7, 2004 at Taylor House in Findlay. She was born June 10, 1923 in Toledo to Bert E. & Mabel Alice (Carson) Trumpy. She married Harold Powell, Jr. March 22, 1944 and he died Sept. 10, 1992. Ruth is survived by three sons, Douglas L. (Bonnie) Powell of Tiffin, H. Thomas (Marilyn) Powell of Toledo, Michael L. Powell of North Ft. Myers, FL; two daughters, Nancy Smith of Findlay, Debra A. (Tom) Morgan of Carey; eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Don Trumpy of Findlay, Bill Trumpy of Texas and Bert Trumpy of Fostoria. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry E. Powell; a son-in-law, John Smith; a brother, Ed; and two sisters, June Trumpy & Betty Rader. Ruth was a homemaker and active in the Senior Citizens of Carey and Findlay. Todd T. Rankin, of Mansfield and formerly of Findlay and Dunkirk died on Wednesday, February 4, 2204 in Mansfield. He was born on February 8, 1964 to Warren L. and Grace E. (Steinman) Rankin. He is survived by three brothers, Terry L., Tom R., and Tim L. all of Findlay, one sister, Mrs. Teresa (David) Stauffer of Arlington, three nieces and three nephews. Elmer F. Crane, age 81, of 126 Huron Road, Findlay died at 4:47 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Birchaven Retirement Village. He was born on August 27, 1922 to Glenn C. and Estelle C. (Otto) Crane. He married Helen L. Beemer on July 19, 1945 and she died on April 2, 2001. He is survived by one son, David A. (Lois) Crane of Findlay; and a daughter Peggy A. Shackelford of Van Buren; and 3 grandchildren. Mr. Crane had been employed by Burdett/AGA Gas for 29 years as a truck driver, dock worker and dispatcher. He was a member of the Hancock Handlebars, the YMCA, and the F.H.R.C. He served in the United States Marine Corp. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-2:30pm at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday. Pastor William H. Betty King, age 68, of Oak Harbor and formerly of Findlay, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, Ohio. She was born on June 7, 1935 to William H. and Olive E. (Wilkins) Brocksieker in Gibsonburg, Ohio. She married Ralph E. King on March 14, 1955 in Angola, Indiana and he survives. Also surviving are: one daughter, Tonia S. (Larry) Wymer of Van Buren, Ohio; two grandsons, Timothy R. (Jackie) Wymer of Acworth, Georgia and Nickolas E. Wymer of Van Buren, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Audrey, Devin, Elise and Seth, one sister, Judy (Larry) Durain of Van Buren; and one brother, William (Donna) Brocksieker of McComb. Mrs. King was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Honecker-Young and one brother, Bobby Brocksieker. She had worked at Findlay Industries for twenty years and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor. Aside from her deep love for her family and friends, she also took time out to appreciate the wonders of nature. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Susan Marie Doxsey, 40, of Findlay went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ at 8:41 a.m. on Wednesday; following a lengthy illness. She was born October 25, 1963 in Findlay to Robert E. Doxsey and Mary M. (Schmutte) Doxsey. She is survived by: two sisters, M. Christine Doxsey of Kansas City, Missouri; and Regina L. Doxsey of Stinson Beach, California; and two brothers, Robert E. Doxsey, Jr. of Findlay; and Michael L. Doxsey of LaRochelle, France. Susan’s maternal grandparents were the late Leonard B. and Margaret E. (Nelson) Schmutte and paternal grandparents were the late Joseph and Blance (Karrick) Doxsey. Other survivors include: her partner, Matthew Hill of Kansas City, Missouri; three nieces, Bethany (Granville) Dearwester of Cincinnati; Sara E. Doxsey of Findlay; and Sarah M. Doxsey of Kansas City, Missouri; and four nephews, Joshua Granville of North Carolina; Ryan, Todd and Jamie Doxsey of Findlay. Susan attended St. Michael School and Van Buren High School. She was a member of the class of 1982. She spent the bulk of her working career as a waitress. Susan was very artistic and loved being outdoors and close to nature. A memorial service will be held around Thanksgiving. Constance (Connie) Joan Hardesty, 57, of 3003 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton, Ohio died at 10:43 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2004 at Manor Care at Woodridge, Fairfield, Ohio. She was born on January 31, 1947 in Findlay, Ohio to Kenneth and Ellen (Rees) Coppes. She married Glenn E. Hardesty, Jr. and he survives. Also surviving are: one daughter, Jennifer (Daniel) Pilgrim; one son, Glenn Hardesty III; and one granddaughter, Sydney Grace Pilgrim all of Hamilton,Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Hardesty retired from Seaway Foodtown as a deli clerk. She served as a volunteer for T.W.I.G. Society in Marion County. Ernestine L. Olwick, 86 of Cygnet, died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, October 3, 2004 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. She was born on August 3, 1918 in Monclova, Ohio to K.C. and Theresa (Zedwick) Olwick. She graduated from Monclova High School and went on to study business at the University of Toledo. She worked as a secretary for many years, and retired in 1981 from France Stone Company. Ms. Olwick was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Society, North Baltimore. She was a volunteer for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She is survived by a sister Dorothy Weber of Van Buren; sister-in-law Doris Olwick of Toledo; nieces Linda (Robert) Reichenbach, Suzanne (Michael) Poole, Patricia (Dan) Naylor, Teresa (Jeff) Beamsley, Machelle (Robert) Smith, Connie (Gary) Ossman, and Christine (David) East; nephews Timothy (Jill) Weber and William McFarlan; many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at Holy Family Catholic Church, North Baltimore. Father Stephen Cairns Celebrant. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore. Robert D. Tracewell, age 78, of 1628 Greenfield Dr. Findlay, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday at Birchaven Care Center. He was born August 17, 1926 in Tiffin, Ohio to Edward Roy and Lela Ann (Downey) Tracewell and they are deceased. He married Marjorie Way and they are divorced. He then married Anita Borkosky on July 4, 1965 and she died September 2, 1995. He then married Betty Kuch on May 8, 1996 and she survives. He worked for the United States Post Office where he was a city carrier for 24 years and had a rural route for nine years. Survivors include two step-sons: Gregory Kuch of Findlay and Dr. Christopher Kuch of Istanbul, Turkey. There are five daughters: Mrs. Billy (Sandra Marie) Seibert of Albany, New York, Mrs. James (Sharon) Harvey of Seiverville, Tennessee, Mrs. Douglas (Lois Jane) McCracken of Bloomdale, Ohio, Lori Renee Dupuis and partner M. Steven Miles of Marcellus, New York and Mrs. Scott (Bobbie Sue) Grenerth of Mt. Blanchard. One brother: William Tracewell of St. Mary's, Ohio and one sister, Christine Ross of Parkersburg, West Virginia. He has thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Ruhlan. He was the past President of the Findlay Garden Club, member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Rural Letter Carriers Association. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Findlay. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky St. Findlay. Pastor Gordon Dickson will officiate will burial at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Calvary Baptist Church in his memory.

James D."Jim" Warren, 69, of 5982 C.R. 248, Arcadia died at 1:30 p.m. near Arcadia. He was born on September 2, 1935 to the late Harry Don and N. Maxine (Wilcox) Warren . He married Marna J. Romick on December 19, 1954 and she survives near Arcadia. Also surviving are three children; James A. (Lou Anne) Warren of Alvada; Patricia A. (Al) Sanchez of Vanlue and Sandy A. (Arlene) Warren of Findlay; grandchildren: Nikki Alford, Cori (Jon) Siferd, Staci (Richard) Foor, Melanie, Eric and Chad Warren and Randi Bowser: one great-grand-child, Sydney Foor; and his sister Lelia F. Horton of rural Findlay. He was a 1953 graduate of Arcadia High School and Tri-State College of Engineering in 1956 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Jim was employed by Autolite Spark Plug from 1956-60, and Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. from 1960 until retirement in 1996 following 37 years with perfect attendance, he also farmed for nearly 50 years with a love and desire to improve the land. Jim was a faithful member of the Arcadia United Methodist Church where he lived out his faith and served as Sunday school teacher and communion usher. Jim will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends. Jim was a quiet philanthropist, supporting of the Washington Twp. Fire Dept., Arcadia band and sports activities, and many Masonic activities to name a few. Jim belonged to the Arcadia Lion's Club, Lion's Civic Association, Findlay Elks BPOE #75 and volunteer reader for the Arcadia Schools. Jim will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Jim's memberships also include: Findlay Masonic Lodge #227, Zenobia Shrine, Past President of Findlay Shrine Club and secretary for 15 years, former Director Findlay Zenobia Clowns, Honorary Member Zenobia's Legion of Honor, Tiffin Shrine Club, Fostoria Shrine Club; Tiffin Hornets, presently President of the Hancock County Scottish Rite, York Rite Bodies of Findlay, Ambassador to Tiffin Shrine Club (1998-2001), Royal Order of Jesters Court #21, Tall Seeders, and Valley of Toledo Scottish Rite. Funeral services will be held at Arcadia United Methodist Church on Monday, October 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating. Burial will be in Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday and 2-8 p.m. Sunday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, also the casket will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Ruth Wildman, age 87, a resident of the Arlington Good Samaritan Center and formerly of Dunkirk and Findlay died at 1:55 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the center. She was born on November 20,1917 in Sistersville, West Virginia to William. C. and Caroline Giboney. She married Charles Wildman and they divorced. She had two children, Carol Douglas Draper who is deceased and Robert (Paulette) Wildman of Findlay, who survives. Ruth spent her life caring and providing for her family. She was employed by the Appleseed and Williamstown Restaurants and retired from St. Rita's Hospital Dietary Staff. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington Pastor Christopher Cravens officiating. Burial will be in Tyler County Cemetery in Middlebourne, WV. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in her memory.
