Mary I. Strahm, age 89, of Lima, formerly of Waynesfield, passed away July 30, 2000 at her home. She was born Jan. 9, 1911 on Allen County to Clyde K. and Siddy Rice Hay. On April 26, 1941 she married Garner E. Stahm who passed away Dec. 11, 1993. Survivors include two daughters, Martha Lynn "Marty" (Charles) Downing of Lima, and Marilyn R. (William) Van Abel of Tampa, Fla; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald Hay, Herbert Hay, William Hay, and James Hay; three sisters, Martha Hiett, Betty Searfoss and Ruth Schrader. Mrs. Strahm was a homemaker. She was a member of the Harrod United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Allen County Farm Bureau. Services will be held Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville with the Rev. Joseph Royer and Rev. Lynn Huffman officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery in Westminster. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Harrod United Methodist Church.

Maxine P. Dumond, 86, of Ada ,died July 30, 2000 at the Plus Health Care Center in Lima. She was born June 7, 1914 to William and Cora (Johnson) Piles in Kenova, W. Virginia. She was married to Phineas M. Dumond who passed away on Sept. 8, 1990. Survivors include one son, Ronald W. (Patricia) Nelson of Ada; two daughters, Suzan (Merle) Eisel of Bradenton, Florida, and Betty Dumond of Ada; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth (Ralph) McBride of Horseshoe. N. Carolina. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Rodney Dumond and one brother, Bud Piles. Mrs. Dumond was retired after 25 years as a secretary from A. E. Roby Company in New London, Ohio. She formerly resided in New London and attended the New London Baptist Church faithfully for several years before moving to Ada. Services were held Aug. 2, 2000 at the Hanson Neely Funeral Home in Ada with Pastor Walt Powers officiating. Memorials may be given to the County Line Church of the Brethren.

Wilma E. Busch, 85, of Ada passed away July 24, 2000 at Hardin Hills Health Center. She was born Oct. 24, 1914 in Leavenworth, Kan., to William Isaac and Rachel Rebella Arnold Gordon. Mrs. Busch had two brothers, Alfred and Arnold Gordon, and two sisters, Celia and Betty. Mrs. Busch was a retired store manager and a member of the Cremation and Memorial Society. There are no public visitation or services planned. Arrangements are by Bayliff & Sons Funeral Home, Cridersville.

Cleah "Billie" Burris, 82, of Alger passed away Aug. 14, 2000 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was born May 27, 1918 to Jasper and Linda (Lugibil) Koontz of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was married to Charles W. Burris who died on Jan. 18, 1968. She is survived by three sons, Doug (Sharon) Burris of Harrod, Jerry "Bucky" (Sharon) Burris of Kenton, and Rick (Tina) Burris of Alger; five daughters, Karen (Richard) Kindle of Alger, Lois (Harold "Butch") Cummins of McGuffey, Bonnie (Stratton) Minix of Alger, Marsha (Lowell) Murdock of Kenton, and Terri (Doug) Bridenstine of Kenton; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Roland Koontz, Joe (Mary) Koontz, Jim (Kay) Dray, all of Bluffton and Jack (Jeannette) Koontz of Ocala, Fla.; and one sister, Lillian (Herbert) Crates of Arlington. She was preceded in death by daughter Patricia Ann Burris and sister Mary Binkley. Mrs. Burris was a homemaker, who was also retired from Essex Wire of Kenton in 1983 where she was a supervisor. She attended Central Methodist Church in Alger. She was a graduate of Bluffton High School and a member of Alger Rescue Squad from 1974-1981. She was also a member of Alger Fire Department Auxiliary, and a past member of VFW of Kenton. She was awarded Alger Citizen of the Year in 1981. Services will be held Aug 17 at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Alger at 2 p.m. with the Rev. D. Ray Miller officiating. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and prior to services on Thursday. Burial will be at Preston Cemetery

Richard E. "Dick" Anspach, 70 of Ada passed away Aug. 9, 2000 at the Tall Timber Camp Ground in Port Clinton. He was born March 30, 1930 to Ross "Chic" and Sarah (Helser) Anspach. His mother survives in Ada. On May 27, 1955 he married Marcella L. Gray who survives in Ada. Other survivors in include a son, Jeffrey (Cathy) Anspach of Ada; a daughter, Pamela (Charles) Boutwell of Ada; three granddaughters, Jennifer Anspach of Ada, Chassidy (John) Downer of Woodville, Ohio, and Cynthia Anspach of Ada. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Dawson. Mr. Anspach was retired from Scot Lad Foods where he was a truck driver for 35 years. He was also a farmer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Germany from 1951-1953. He formerly attended St. Paul United Church of Christ in Ada. He was a 1948 graduate of Lafayette High School and an avid fisherman. Services were held on Aug. 12 at the Hanson Neely Funeral Home in Ada with the Rev. Robert Brown officiating. Burial was at St. Paul Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Tim "Buggy" Craft, 38, of Jackson, Kentucky passed away at the Kentucky River Medical Center. He was born Jan. 9, 1962 to Virgil and Barbara (Allen) Craft of Lima. Virgil Craft survives in Winamack, Indiana and mother and step-father Barbara and Adam Pitts survive in Jackson Kentucky. Other survivors include two brothers, Terry Craft of Alger and Larry Craft of Chickamauga, Georgia; two sisters, Sandra Parks of Jackson, Kentucky and Linda Prichard of Duncan, S.C.; seven step-brothers, Hershel, Calvin, Jimmy, Danny, Jody, and Burley Pitts all of Jackson, Kentucky and Billy Joe Pitts of Salyersville, Kentucky; and three step-sisters Wanda Back of Jackson, Kentucky, Sandra Lovely and Brenda Francis of Salyersville, Kentucky. Services will be held on Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Alger. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 and prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Preston Cemetery in Alger.

Robert L. Allen Jr., 70, of Ada, passed away Aug. 15, 2000 at St. Rita's Medical center. He was born Aug. 24, 1929 to Robert L. and Falita (Gehrisch) Allen Sr. On May 17, 1952 he married Julie Ann Mangin who survives in Ada. Other survivors include three sons, Robert L. (Janis) Allen III of Ada, Mark S. (Laura) Allen of Lapeer, Mich., and David A. (Reba) Allen of Ada; two daughters, Ann (George) Thieman of Findlay, and Amy (Neal) Dumbaugh of Ada; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Paul (Beverly) Allen of Lima, and Joe (Sue) Allen of Ada; two sisters, Sally (Darrell) Diller of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Nancy (Sherman) Tolford-Peeno of Cincinnati. Mr. Allen retired in 1997 from the chemistry department of Ohio Northern University after 27 years. He served as a councilman for the Village of Ada from 1976-1983 and as mayor of the village from 1984- 1991. He also served as chairman of the Hardin County Regional Planning Commission. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ada. He served during the Korean War with the Ohio National Guards. He was a member of the Ada American Legion Post #185. A Mass of Christian burial was held Aug. 19 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Graveside military services were conducted at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ada Public Library, Scholarship Fund for Ada High School Class of 1947, Our Lady of Lourdes, or the Hardin County Hospice Care.

Jean Gilbert, 72, of Ada, passed away Aug. 18, 2000 at the Richland Manor Nunrsing Home. She was born Nov. 27, 1927 to Paul and Minnie (Eberle) Davis of Deshler, Ohio. Her mother survives in Columbus Grove. On July 11, 1972 she married James Gilbert and he survives in Ada. Other survivors include one son, Victor Charles (Carol) Jones of Ada; three daughters Terra Sue (Michael) Pryer-Bell of Sarasota, Fla., Paula Jane (Ronald) Parsons of Ada, and Judith Ellen Austin of Ada; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother Donald Moore of Columbus Grove; and two sisters Jane (Willis) Sakemiller of Vaughnsville, Ohio and Joan Beam of Columbus Grove. She was preceded in death by brother Edward Davis and step-father Harold Moore. Mrs. Gilbert was a homemaker. She was a member of Ada First United Methodist Church and the Ada VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Services were held Aug. 21 at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Albertson officiating. Burial was at Thompson Cemetery in Bluffton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ada Visiting Nurses or the Hardin County Cancer Society.

Gerald Dean Marling, 63, of Central S.C. (formerly of Ada) died Aug. 20, 2000 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He is the son of Anna Rambo Marling of Ada and the late Harold B. Marling. Other survivors include his wife, Sharon Mowery Marling, sons, Robert D. (Monica) Marling of Easley S.C., David A. (Donna) Marling of Dacusville, S.C., Michael E. Marling of Central, S.C., and Gregory S. Marling of the home; a brother Barclay Marling of Lima; sisters Shirley Elliott of Dayton, Irene Shipe of Freeport, and Kay Cook of Dunkirk; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Edward Marling. Mr. Marling was a retired plant manager with Swirl Manufacturing and was of the Lutheran faith. Funeral services will be held Aug. 24 at the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central, S.C.

Willis E. Badertscher, 86, of Ada passed away Aug. 18, 2000 at the Richland Manor Nursing Home. He was born March 14, 1914 in Allen County to Peter P. and Louisa (Fett) Badertscher. On Dec. 3, 1939 he married Ethel Dorene Elwood who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Milton "Bud" (Betty)Badertscher of Pearcy, Arkansas, Charles L. (Peg) Badertscher of Roundhead, John L. (Judi) Badertscher of Lafayette, and Willis W. (Kyong) Badertscher of Sierra Visa, Arizona; two daughters, Donna Binkley of Ada, Alyxandra "Gladys" (Robert) Schoonover of Ashland, Ohio; three sisters, Margaret Bowers of Bluffton, Katherine Urich of Bluffton, and Cleora (Darrel) Skinner of Bluffton; 18 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Elizabeth Ann Allmon, grandson Randall Allmon; and two brothers, Harvey and Ralph Badertscher. Mr. Badertscher was retired as an Inspector for Ex-Cello Corporation in Lima in 1977 after working there for 25 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp., and served in WWII. He was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren in rural Ada, a lifetime member of the Ada VFW Post 9381, and a member of the Ex-Cello Retirees Club. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Services were held Aug. 21 at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada with Pastor David Thompson officiating. Burial was at Desenberg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to County Line Church of the Brethren or the charity of your choice.

Rev. Willis O. Bosserman, 80, of Shippensburg, Pa. passed away Aug. 13, 2000 at his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1919 in Hancock County to the late Harry F. and Gladys Van Schoick Bosserman. He was ordained as a minister in the Church of the Brethren in 1951 and served in many churches across the country. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia E. Sweeney Bosserman. He is survived by his second wife, Helen McElwee Booz Bosserman; two sons Willis O. Bosserman III, and Damon K. Bosserman; two daughters, Jane B. Bailey, and Candice D. Moser; one step-son, Rev. Dr. Donald R. Booz; one step-daughter, Barbara Foster; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, Hugh F. Bosserman, two brothers and two sisters. Services were held Aug. 18. Burial was at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Hancock County. Memorial may be made to the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren.

Helen I. Krouskop, 86, of New Hampshire, passed away on Aug. 19, 2000 at Heartland Manor in Lakeview, Ohio. She was born May 1, 1914 in Hardin County to C. Clark and Hazel Dicus Tuttle. On March 1, 1938 she married Harold Monroe Krouskop who died on Dec. 8, 1978. Survivors include three sons, Roger (Alice) Krouskop of St. Marys, Dennis Krouskop of New Hampshire, and Doyle Krouskop of Alpine, Calif.; one daughter, Janice (James) Felver of St. Marys; one brother, Ted Tuttle of Fla.; one sister LeoBelle "Jonni" Evans of Bellefontaine; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two step-great great-grandchildren; and one step-great- grandchild. Mrs. Krouskop was a homemaker. She attended the Methodist Church, and was a 50 year member of the Moose Lodge in Kenton. She was a member of the Smiling Sams Camping Club.

Susan Marie Dearwester, 43 of Kenton, formerly of Lima, passed away Aug. 18, 2000. She was born Aug. 16, 1957 to Clyde and Juanita "Sanders" Dearwester of Lima. She is survived by her mother Juanita Dearwester of Lima; three sisters, Joyce Hawes-Rodgers of Kenton, Jean Hawes-Knoch of Casstown, and Saundra Kay of Calif.; nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by one brother Daniel Lee Dearwester and her father Clyde Dearwester. Ms. Dearwester graduated from Lima Bath High School in 1976. She was a member of the former Open Bible Church in Lima. Services were held Aug. 23 at the Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Burns officiating. Burial was in Ada Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.

Lois L. McCurdy, 93 of Ada passed away Aug. 23, 2000. She was born May 12, 1907 to Melvin and Addie (Dill) Boyer in Botkins, Ohio. On March 28, 1929 she married Paul L. McCurdy who passed away on Feb. 15, 1972. She is survived by two sons, LeClare (Deanne) McCurdy of Ft. Meyers, Fla., and Gary (Judy) McCurdy of Ada; one daughter-in-law, Sherry McCurdy of Ada; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James Melvin McCurdy and David Sanford McCurdy and two brothers, Huber Boyer and Marvin Boyer. Mrs. McCurdy graduated from Wapakoneta Blume High School and from Ohio Northern University. She was a former teacher at Wapakoneta Blume High School and a homemaker. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #6 of Ada. She was a member of the Ada Business and Professional Women's Club and of the Kenton Ladies Shrine Club. Services were held on Aug. 29 at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home with the Chaplain Vernon LaSala officiating. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ada Visiting Nurses.

Services for Lewis F. Riling, 89, of Marion, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at Price Funeral Home in Dunkirk. Officiating minister will be the Rev. James Gatchell. Burial will be in the Dola Cemetery. Visiting hours will be 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, Aug. 26. Riling died on Aug. 24, 2000 at Marion General Hospital. He was born on Nov. 30, 1910 in DeWitt, Ill., to David Clyde and Helen (Justice) Riling. He was married to Lorene Thompson on Dec. 27, 1932. Survivors are three daughters: Helen Isenbarger of Dola, Donna Eikenbary of Kenton, and Elaine Tuttle of Toledo; two sons: Donald (Jane) Riling of Brockport, N.Y., and David (Caroline) Riling of Toledo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Lewis. Riling was a an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and was retired. Memorials may be made to Rev. James Gatchell Lighthouse Ministry, c/o Dunkirk Assembly of God.

Mrs. Eula Mae Nowlan, 80 of Decatur, Miss. passed away on Aug. 21, 2000. Survivors include her husband Ray Nowlan, originally from Ada; two daughters, Sandra N. (Larry) Hartzler of Decatur, Miss., and Judy Kubota of Hawaii; a son, Johnnie (Barbara) Wright of Florence, Miss.; grandchildren, Kimberly Williams, Kevin Kubota, Kecia Kubota, Kori Mann and Kane Humphreys; and two great-grandchildren, Kelsie Mann and Kai Kubota. She was preceeded in death by son Nelson Wright. Mrs. Nowlan was a retired bookeeper and homemaker. She was a member of Clark-Venable Baptist Church and a past president of the Homemaker's Association. Services were held for Mrs. Nowlan on Aug. 24, at the Barham Funeral Home in Meridian, Miss. with the Rev. D. Scott Wright officiating. Burial was at the Decatur Cemetery.

Ruby Porter, 82, of Harrod, passed away on Sept. 2, 2000 at Lost Creek Care Center in Lima. Services were held on Sept. 5 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Alger, with the Rev. Ellis Puckett officiating. Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger. She was born Jan. 8, 1918 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to Joe and Nan (Cole) Push. She married Roscoe Porter and he passed away on July 11, 1975. She is survived by two sons, Phillip (Betty) Porter and Marcus (Karen) Porter, both of Harrod; four grandchildren, Shane, Kelsey and Jeffrey Porter and Amy (Jeff) Musselman; a great-grandson, Cody Musselman; and a brother, Ed (Luella) Push of Harrod. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Castle Bailey, Tone, John, Ellis and Frank Push; and four sisters, Mary Sparks, Mae Montgomery, June Miller and Iris Rigsby. Mrs. Porter was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Charity of the donor's choice.

Bonnie J. Jones, 74, of Ada, passed away on Sept. 6, 2000 at the Richland Manor Nursing Home in Bluffton. A memorial service was held on Sept. 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Ada. The Rev. Wayne Albertson was the officiating minister. The body was cremated. She was born on Aug. 18, 1926 in Toledo to Joseph P. and Betty (Heidman) Saunders. On Aug. 3, 1946, she married Harry O. Jones who passed away on Jan. 15, 1980. Surviving are two sons, Harry O. (Caryn) Jones Jr. of Findlay and Robert D. (Deborah) Jones of Sylvania; two daughters, JoNell E. Hanratty of Ada and Tamara Lehman of Summerville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;and a sister, Betty Lou Bly of Strongsville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Saunders and son-in-law, Terry A. Hanratty. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of the First united Methodist Church of Ada. Memorials can be made to Ada Visiting Nurses and Hospice. Hanson-Neely Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lou Ann Sampson, 59, of Dunkirk, passed away on Sept. 10 at her residence. She was born Jan. 14, 1941, in Findlay, to Robert and Wilma (Snyder) Park, and her mother survives in Ada. On June 3, 1961, she married Reggie Sampson, and he survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Lori (Don) Clapsaddle of Kenton, Lana (Brad) Richards of Dunkirk, and Lynn Sampson of Columbus; one sister, Sandy (Chuck) Peyton of Bellefontaine; one brother, Mike (Karen) Park of Elburn, Ill., and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Sampson was an elementary school teacher at Hardin Northern, retiring this year after 31 years of teaching. She was a graduate of Ada High School and Ohio Northern University. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Dunkirk, Entre Nous Mothers Club, and a former 4-H advisor for the Dola Slick Chicks. Memorials may be made to Hardin Hospice Care or the Hardin Northern Public Library.

Ida May Johnson, 82, died Sept. 11, 2000 at her residence in Alger. She was born June 19, 1918 in Floyd County, Kentucky, to Acro and Luranie (Stephens) Castle. On July 4, 1939, she married Ell Johnson, and he passed away on March 23, 1977. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. She attended Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God in Alger. She is survived by a brother, Willard (Hattie) Castle of Ada; two sisters, Bessie Prater of Alger and Virginia (Glenn) Sprang of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Lydia Hicks, Pollie Prater, Ester Patton and Sadie Castle; and two brothers, Franzel and Albert Castle. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Alger. The Rev. James Holbrook will officiate. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and until time of service on Friday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home.

James Richard Warren, 89, of Columbus, passed away Sept. 11, 2000 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Preston Cemetery in Hardin County, with Pastor William Smith officiating. Warren is survived by three daughters, Virginia (Carl) Russell, Jenny Hicks, and Marge (Bruce) Tamte; a sister, Mary Vermillion of Ada; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by wives, Ruby Warren and Ruth Warren, a sister, Martha Peck, and a brother, Thomas Warren.

Pauline (Polly) H. Conlon, 94, passed away on Aug. 31, 2000 at Van Crest Nursing Home in Delphos. Services were held on Sept. 9 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Delphos, with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos. Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, was in charge of the arrangements. She was born Sept. 23, 1905 in Jackson Township, Allen County, to William Henry and Margaret Alice (Yoakam) Hall. On Jan. 1, 1936, she married Hugo George "Tom" Conlon, who died on Nov. 22, 1978. She is survived by nieces and nephews, several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Ralph, Harley, Bert and Floyd Conlon; and a sister Hazel Conlon. Mrs. Conlon taught at Helser School and Halltown School in Jackson Township. In 1927, she began teaching in Delphos Public Schools at the Franklin Elementary and retired there in 1967. She attended Murray School and Lafayette-Jackson School, then graduated from Ohio Northern University. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, O.E.S., N.R.T.A. and O.R.T.A. She was a volunteer at the American Red Cross, Van Crest Nursing Home, Thrift Shop, and various other community projects.

Ivan E. Clouse, 82, of Lima, passed away Sept. 8, 2000 at his son's residence. Services were held Sept. 11 at Lewis Chapel, Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes in Lima, with Pastor Jane Mosier officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Mr. Clouse was born Jan. 12, 1918 in Nebraska City, Neb. to Henry L. and Josephine Wagner Clouse. On April 20, 1946, he married Alice I. Mathes and she died on Aug. 17, 1987. He is survived by two sons: Raymond (Rochelle) Clouse of Marion and Richard (Brenda) Clouse of Marysville; two daughters: Olivia (James) Cook and Beryl Snyder, both of Lima; a sister, Wilma Gardner of St. Paul, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Clouse; three brothers, Raymond, Dale and Vernon (Pete) Clouse; and three sisters: Naomi Lewis, Velma Gardner and Nola Anderson. Clouse retired in 1980 as supervisor of accounting at BP Chemical Co. He was former business owner of 7C's Tastee Freeze, Harrod. He was a member of Harrod Church of Christ where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of American Legion Post 40 and 8 and a Life Member Veterans of Foreign War Post #1275. He was former mayor, council president, and secretary-treasurer of the village of Harrod and was chief ladder man for the fire department. He was a Peewee baseball coach, Cub Pack 52 committee chairman, president of Sohio Quarter Century Club and 50-year member Lodge 674 F. & A.M. He was a Master gardener.

Elnora M. Bosch, 83, of Ada, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17 at her residence in Ada. She passed away from natural causes. She was born June 6, 1917 in Lima, Ohio to the late Stewart and Dorothy May (Reiff) Miller, Sr. Surviving Elnora is her husband, Edward F. Bosch, Sr., also of Ada, who she has been married to since Oct. 12, 1935. Also surviving Elnora Bosch are three sons, Tom and wife Pat Bosch of Pasco, Wash., Gary and wife Naydene Bosch of Pasco, Wash., and Jeff Bosch of Findlay; two daughters, Pam and husband John Currey of Brighton, Mich., and Nancy and husband John Bucher of Ada; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Stewart Miller, Jr. of Arizona; and one sister, Lucille Moore of Lima. She was preceded in death by one son, Edward "Sonny" Bosch, Jr., a grandson, Mark Bosch and a granddaughter, Mary Bosch. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ada, as well as the Altar Rosary Society. She was a charter member of the Junior Civic League of Ada. She worked for the Board of Elections in Ada for several years. She has previously worked as a clerk at Parshall's Clothing Store of Ada, Ohio. Funeral services for Elnora M. Bosch will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 11 am. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ada with the Rev. Dan Millisor officiating. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ada, and the Hardin Cancer Society and/or Hardin Hospice Care.

Dorothy A. Krause, 63, of Sedgwick, Hanson, formerly of Dola, passed away Sept. 9, at Sedgwick Healthcare Center. She was born March 17, 1937 to the late Charles and Coralene (Highslip) Kahler in Dola, Ohio. She is survived by two sons, Ronald Krause of Lawrence, Kan., and Jack Krause of Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Laurie Krause of Newton, Kan.; and one brother, Kenneth Kahler of Dola. She is also survived by one grandchild. Funeral services for Dorothy A. Krause will be held on Friday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. at First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro, Kan. with pastor Ruth Penner officiating. All funeral arrangements are being taken care of by Petersen Funeral Home, Inc., 215 N. Main, Newton, Kan. 67114.

Raymond L. Thompson, 72, of Ada, died Sept. 19, 2000 at St. Ann's Hospital, Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian. He is survived by sons, Raymond Jeffrey Thompson of Kenton, Daniel L. Thompson of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Mark W. Thompson of Columbus; three grandchildren; a sister Katherine Christian, a sister-in-law Norma Strothanke; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at Ada First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Albertson officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Memorial gifts may be made to Christian Aid Mission and sent c/o First United Methodist Church, Box 255, Ada.

A memorial service for Dr. Samuel L. Meyer, president emeritus of Ohio Northern University, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 in English Chapel on the campus in Ada. Dr. Meyer died June 26 at his home in Lexington, Ky. A funeral service was held June 30 at Central Methodist College, Fayette, Mo. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha Roberts Meyer, and two sons, Samuel Lewis Meyer III of Biscayne Bay, Calif., and James Barton Meyer of Lexington. Dr. Meyer served as ONU president from 1965 to 1977, during which time the academic standing of the University greatly improved and major buildings were constructed. Meyer Hall of Science was named in recognition of his service to the University and to science. In addition, a scholarship fund and a student aid fund were established in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Meyer. Dr. Meyer, a biologist, received the bachelor's degree from Central Methodist College, the master's degree from Vanderbilt University, and the Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. He was active in the United Methodist Church, Rotary International and the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges. He received the Ada Distinguished Citizen Award in 1975.

Mary F. Gaiffe, 86, Ada and formerly of Bluffton, passed away on Sept. 21, 2000 at Richland Manor, Bluffton. She was born March 21, 1914, in Bluffton to Roscoe and Eva (Eckenwiler) Holmes. She married William N. Gaiffe on Oct. 13, 1935, and he died on Feb. 23, 1993. Mrs. Gaiffe is survived by two daughters, Betty (Jim) Lewis and Patricia A. Wyss, both of Ada; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grand-children; a brother Johnnie Holmes of Elida, and a sister Nora Swank of Bluffton. She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, a son-in-law, Bob "Butch" Wyss, and a brother, Vincent Holmes. Mrs. Gaiffe was a homemaker. She had owned Clover Farm Store in Bluffton and also had worked at Triplett Corp. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton. She was active in bowling and was a Junior Bowling coach at Southgate Lanes, Bluffton. She was a graduate of Bluffton High School. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton Chapel.Memorial contributions can be made to Richland Manor.

Donald Earl Herold, 82, died at his residence in Ada on Monday, Sept. 18, 2000. He was born Aug. 23, 1918 in Lima to George Edward and Inez (Harshman) Herold. On March 4, 1956, he married Ida M. Ruch, who survives. Also surviving are a son, David A. (Vicki) Herold of Lima; two daughters, Barbara J. Leach of Lima and Deborah L. (Marc) Farrington of North Pole, Alaska; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert, C. Fred, and his twin, Raymond Herold. Mr. Herold was the owner/operator of Herold's Carpet Service in Lima and was manager of Star Furniture & Carpet in Ada. He retired from the Ohio State University Lima Branch. Herold was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He was a member of First United Church of Christ in Lima. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and archery. Services were held Sept. 21 at Chiles & Sons-Laman Shawnee Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Duffy officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hardin County Hospice.
