Harold E. "Ice Baby" Hadsell, 76, Lima, died March 18, 1999 at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born June 21, 1922 in Lima to Edgar and Ella (Johnson) Hadsell. On Oct. 16, 1977, he married Vera Hawk and she survives in Lima. Survivors also include one stepson, Edward (Cindy) Hawk of Vaughnsville; four stepdaughters, Darlene (Dean) Ewing and Marilyn (Michael) DeVita, both of Lima, Sue (Denny) Latham of Wapakoneta and Ruth (Duane) Ladd of Findlay; one brother, John (Mickey) Hadsell of Arizona City, Ariz.; two sisters, Elsie (Delph) Howard and Betty (Ken) Ziegenbusch, both of Lima; 12 stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Mr. Hadsell had retired after 30 years from the LIma City Waste Water Treatment Plant. He was a 1941 graduate of South High School, served in the U.S. Air Corp, was a member of Eagles Aerie 370 and past Worthy President. He was also a 50-year member of American Legion Post 96, a member of VFW Post 8832 of Roundhead, and a member of Mercy Club at St. Rita's Medical Center. Services were held March 22 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Radcliffe officiating. Interment was in Ward Cemetery. Military graveside service will be conducted by VFW Post 1275. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.

Phillip E. Long, 81, Ada, died March 28, 1999 at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton. He was born June 6, 1917, in Hardin County to Charles N. and Hattie Lentz Long. On Sept. 11, 1938, he married Ruby L. Shrider, who died April 9, 1985. Survivors include two sons, Perry (Alma) Long of Sidney and Phil Long of Celina; two daughters, Anita (John) Dearth and Joyce (Norman) Welch, both of Ada; a sister, Mildred Shrider of Ada; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, Elmer, Fred, Clyde and Glen Long; and two sisters, Eunice Cheney and Mary Shoemaker. Mr. Long was a farmer and an artificial inseminator for Northern Ohio Breeders, Tiffin, for 21 years; and owned the Long Bolt Business. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Ada, and the Hardin County Historical Society. He was a 1936 graduate of Ada High School. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with the Revs. Ron Briggs and David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Ada. Friends may call from 2­8 p.m. Wednesday and until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or Ohio Parkinson Foundation/Northwest Region.

Florence M. Mertz, 99, Ada, died March 24, 1999 at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima. She was born Aug. 20, 1899 in Lima to Hugh and Luella (Hall) Hunter. On May 16, 1923, she married James W. Mertz and he died Oct. 13, 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Virginia (Glenn) Neiswander of Ada; one grandson; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janice Bustelos. Mrs. Mertz was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ada. She was associated with her husband, Jim, in the hardware business in Ada from 1935 to 1972. Jim Mertz's father, A.C. also had an Ada business, Mertz Furniture, from 1902 to 1943. Mrs. Mertz was a former member of the Business Women's Club of Ada. Services were held March 27 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with the Rev. George Reed, O.S.L. officiating. Following the services the body was cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ada.

Garnetta M. Traxler Ballentine, 83, Upper Sandusky, died March 24, 1999 at the Wyandot County Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky. She was born July 2, 1915 in Salem Township in Wyandot County, to Edward M. and Margaret (Hensel) Kinley. On Aug. 28, 1933, she married Albert N. Traxler, and he died Oct. 13, 1941. On Feb. 12, 1955, she married Haven Ballentine, and he died Jan. 7, 1970. Survivors include one son, Donald Traxler (Myra) of Ada; three daughters, Bondetta (William) Cutcher of Oberlin, Nancy (Ronald) Bolender of Eaton and Clarice Atherholt of Upper Sandusky; 12 grandchildren, including Ty Traxler of Ada; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen and Dorothy; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Traxler Ballentine was a homemaker and also worked as a nurses aid at Fairhaven Home in Upper Sandusky for 32 years, retiring in 1985. She graduated from Salem Centralized School in 1933. She was a life member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, adult Sunday school class and church Women's Guild.She was a former member of the Champion Grange #840, state and national degrees; former member of the Wyandot County Senior Citizens and the Wyandot County AARP. She enjoyed the hobbies of flower gardening, crafts and knitting. Services were held March 27 at Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Burial was in Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ, the Wyandot County Nursing Home, the Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Hospice of Wyandot County and/or the Upper Sandusky EMS.

Ruth A. Allen, 64, Dunkirk, died March 26, 1999 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born Dec. 19, 1934, in Mechanicsburg to Williard Lines and Louise Bash. Her mother survives in Florida. On Dec. 21, 1943, she married William "Bill" Allen in Decater, Ind., and he also survives. Survivors also include four daughters, Rhonda Noel of Dunkirk, Elizabeth Henry of Temple, Texas, and Deborah Sons and Erica Allen, both of Kenton; a son, Stephan Allen of Byhalia; nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty Shepherd of Dunkirk, Dorothy Price of Arlington, and Diane Mann of Florida. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Kenton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Services were held March 28 at Price Funeral Home, Kenton by Charles Fox. There was no burial. Her body was cremated. Memorials may be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses, or to the American Cancer Society.

William Leonard Stevenson, 80, Lima, died March 24, 1999 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born July 13, 1918, in Lafayette to Andrew and Rose Mae Teeple Stevenson. On Jan. 30, 1947, he married Helga Lederer, and she died Aug. 29, 1998. Survivors include two sons, Donald J. (Sarah) Stevenson of Lima and Gregory M. (Patricia) Stevenson of Dublin; one daughters, Jean Alguire of Lima; one sister, Violet Mae Wilson of Columbus; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Stevenson retired in 1978 as quality control inspector with Ex-Cello Corp. He was previously self-employed as a farmer and owner/operator of rental properties for 30 years. He was a member of the Lafayette Congregational Church, a longtime member of Lima Landlords Assoc., the Sager Lodge of F & AM 32nd degree, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, and the UAW. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. Mr. Stevenson was a graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School, and a lifelong resident of Bath Township. Services were held March 27 at Chiles and Sons-Laman Lewis Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Brown officiating. Burial was in Ward Cemetery. Military rites were given by VFW #1275. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette Congregational Christian Church and/or the Bath Rescue Squad.

Dama Helen Holtman, Toledo, died March 25, 1999 at 12:16 p.m. in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, following a three month illness at the age of 85. She was born in Hardin County on Nov. 30, 1913 to Wellington Millard and Hazel (Lewis) Croy. On Nov. 2, 1940, she married Erwin John Holtman, owner of the former Holtman Machine and Tool Co. on Laskey Rd. in Toledo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1981. Survivors include two sisters, Juanita Furr of Alger and Ina Ruth Bickham of Middletown, Ind. and Lake Alfred, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wellington Kenneth Croy. Mrs. Holtman and her husband were active members of the Toledo Camera Club. She was one of the first volunteers at the Friends of the Library Bookstore of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library and served an estimated 1400 hours. Mrs. Holtman was a working member of the Westgate Neighbors' campaign to "Stop Home Depot." Graveside services were held March 27 at Preston Cemetery in Alger. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Alger, First United Methodist Church of Alger or a charity of the donor's choice.

Eunice A. Price, 96, Dunkirk, died March 23, 1999 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home of Arlington. She was born Sept. 16, 1902, in Kenton, to Perry and Mae Margaret (Kinsey) Cotterill. In September 1920, she married Lauren Russell Price, who preceded her in death in 1966. Survivors include six sons, Norman (Eileen) of Dunkirk, Russell Leighton (Jean) of Louisiana, Eugene (Dorothy) of Arlington, Tom of Dola, Dick (Peg) of Harrod and Dan (Mildred) of Findlay; one daughter, Virginia (Charles) Ball of Florida; two daughters-in-law, Lillian Price of Tennessee and Diane Price of Dola; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 58 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Lyle and Eddie Joe. Mrs. Price was retired from the former OK Manufacturing of Ada. She was a member of the Grace Gospel Church in Ada, a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Kan-Do Grandmothers Club.

Doris Edens, 74, Alger, died March 23, 1999 at her residence. She was born April 5, 1924 in Belle Center to Amos Harold and Clara Mae (Wynegar) Baughman. Survivors include one son, Michael V. (Barbara) Edens of Quincy; five daughters, Carolyn J. Courtney and Judith A. (Thomas) Lawrence, both of Alger, Sharon Marie Ray of Lima, Lori J. (Don) Moeller of Wigam, Ga. and Susan Jan (Tony) Caldwell of Cardington; two sisters, Bertha Cochrane of Dunkirk and Bonnie (Orlen) Arras of Lansing, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula E. Lemmons; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cecil Collins and Mildred McCormick; and three brothers, Lloyd, Paul and Harold Baughman. Services were held March 26 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with the Rev. D. Ray Miller and the Rev. John M. Ciardi officiating. Burial was in Roundhead Cemetery. Florence V. Smith, 86, Ada, died April 4, 1999, at Putnam Acres Care Center in Ottawa. She was born Nov. 18, 1912, in Royal, Pa. to Norval S. and Amanda C. (Pyle) Channing. On May 25, 1940, she married Wellington Ray Smith and he died June 23, 1989. Survivors include two sons, Wayne R. (Carol) Smith of Cary, N.C. and Warren R. (Patricia) Smith of Ottawa; one daughter, Cathy Tuthill of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Channing; and four sisters, Margaret Farrier, Becky Lytle, Lillian Baird and Martha Boroone. Mrs. Smith was a clerk for the Village of Ada. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ada, a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #6 of Ada, and a member of the former Business and Professional Women's Group of Ada. Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 9 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with the Rev. George Reed, O.S.I. officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada. Friends may call 3­7 p.m. on Thursday and until time of services at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada on Friday. Vera M. Kindle, 69, Ada, died March 31, 1999, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Ada to Sanford E. and Corda Marie (Staley) Wingate. On Aug. 7, 1948 ,she married George Kindle Jr. and he died July 16, 1980. Survivors include one son, Lloyd S. Kindle of Ada; a companion, Clark Miller of Bluffton; one granddaughter, Maysa Dawn Kindle of Kenton; and one brother, Ernest Wingate of Tucson, Ariz. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Moore; and two brothers, Harold and Charles Wingate. Mrs. Kindle was a homemaker. Services were held April 3 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada, with the Rev. Ronald Kindle officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.

Paul M. Madigan, 82, Harrod, died March 31, 1999, at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 18, 1916, in Wapakoneta to John Francis and Destina (Riddle) Madigan. On May 20, 1947, he married Maratha M.Barhorst, and she survives in Harrod. Survivors also include one son, Paul "Mike" (Margie) Madigan Jr. of Harrod; three daughters, Rose Shaffer and Deborah Seffernick, both of Harrod, and Terri Bowers of Lima; two brothers, Ray (Lovina) Madigan and Adrian (Florence) Madigan, both of Wapakoneta; three sisters, Sister Mary Alma Madigan of Cincinnati, Mary (Victor) Schweitzer of Botkins and Helen Antonevich of Ocala, Fla.; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Madonna Donaugh, Rose and Joann Madigan; three brothers, John "Jack" Madigan and two infant brothers. Mr. Madigan was retired from Ford Motor Company in Lima on Jan. 1, 1980, as a machine repairman. He was also a retired farmer. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Ada, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9381 of Ada, and a member of the Ford Retirees U.A.W. Local 1219 of Lima. Mr. Madigan was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the European Theater. Mass of the Christian Burial was held April 5 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Ada, with the Rev. Dan Millisor officiating. Burial was in Harrod Cemetery. A Rosary service was held April 3 at the funeral home. Graveside military services were conducted by the Ada VFW Post 9381. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Ada.

Phyllis Shea Beck, 82, Dola, formerly of Ada, died April 1, 1999 ,at her niece's residence. She was born Feb. 18, 1917, in Indiana to J.J. and Cora (Mitchell) Shea. In June 1938, she married Lonnie Beck, who preceded her in death in 1972. Survivors include one brother, Albert Shea of Illinois and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Beck worked for Westinghouse in Missouri for several years and retired from the Dupo, Ill. School District. In 1986, she moved to Ada, where she lived for the past 13 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Dupo, Ill., and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ada. Graveside services were held April 3 at the Dola Cemetery, with the Rev. James Gatchell officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County Hospice.

Lunie "Luna" Jennings, 69, Petersburg, Mich., formerly of McGuffey, died April 2, 1999, at her residence. She was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Boleyn, Ky., to Tandy and Maudie Bolen Conley. On Nov. 20, 1965, she married Robert Jennings, who preceded her in death. Survivors include two brothers, Edward Conley of North Jupson, Ind., and Birchell Conley of Ada; four sisters, Audrey Shields and Mary Howard, both of McGuffey, Halie Nickles of Harrod, and Carol A. Conley of Ada; and special friend Orien Lamley. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David and William Conley. Mrs. Jennings worked at Purolator Products, Petersburg, Mich., for 29 years and had worked at Brass Rail Bar for five years. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6509 Auxiliary, Petersburg, Mich. Services were held April 6 at Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Mich., with the Rev. Dawn Nowak officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg, Mich. Memorial contributions may be made to Petersburg VFW Post 6509 or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Alice Hurt, 81, Kenton, died April 13, 1999 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Wyandot County to Albert and Lottie (Rizor) Clark. On March 4, 1933, she married the Rev. George (Haskell) Hurt, and he died Oct. 28, 1985. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Hurt in 1936; four brothers; and one sister. Mrs. Hurt was a homemaker. She was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God of Alger, where she was the church secretary for several years. Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with the Rev. Harold Bowling officiating. Burial will be in McDonald-Fairview Cemetery in rural Kenton. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday and until time of service on Friday at the funeral home in Alger. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.

Flossie M. Bahr, 86, died at her residence on April 6, 1999. She was born on March 27, 1913, in Leipsic to Charles Frederick and Nellie Abbott Fike. On December 16, 1939, she married Carl W. Bahr, who died on May 24, 1947. Mrs. Bahr retired in 1974 after 27 years of service with Chiles and Sons-Lamon Funeral Homes. She was a member of South Side Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship and Mary Martha class. She was on the Election Board at school. Survivors include a son, Norbert "Lynn" Bahr, of Chardon, Ohio; daughters Karen E. Herold (Kenneth Jack Redmon) of Lima and Judith A. (Jerry) Stemen of Elida; and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a brother, Oren A. Fike; and two sisters, Dorothy Rohr and Mabel Harvitt-Sutton. Services were held on Friday, April 9, at Chiles and Sons-Laman Lewis Chapel with the Rev. Douglas E. Adams officiating. Burial was at the Woodlawn Cemetary in Ada. Memorials may be made to South Side Christian Church.

Beulah Grace Moyer, 90, died at 1:30 a.m. April 6, 1999, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born Oct. 4, 1908, in Lafayette to Elmer Lewis and Lulu Nevada Guthrie Roberts. On June 4, 1937, she married Carl Adrian Moyer, who survives. Mrs. Moyer retired in 1974 as a teacher at Irving Elementary School, Lima. She was a member of County Line Church of the Brethren, Harrod, where she served as a deaconess and was active in the Ladies Fellowship. She attended Manchester College and graduated from Ohio Northern University. Survivors also include a son, Carl A. (Nolene) Moyer Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy L. (Don) Saddler of Harrod and Mary M. (Tom) Criblez of Fairborn; a foster daughter, Betty Numbers of Lima; a sister, Jennie Driver of Bluffton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice E. Kuldau; a brother, Richard Roberts; and two sisters, Blanche Thompson and Mildred Roberts. Services were held Friday, April 9, at County Line Church of the Brethren, Harrod, with the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial was in Lafayette Cemetery, Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to the County Line Church of the Brethren and Mennonite Memorial Home.

C. Neil Lowe, 65, Kenton, died April 15, 1999 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1933 to John L. and Marjorie (Parthemore) Lowe. On Feb. 20, 1955, he was married to Marilyn Jean Tschudy, who survives. Area survivors include a sister, Marilyn (Larry) Kindle of Ada. He was a machine operator from Rockwell International. He graduated from Kenton High School in 1951 and was a member of Berea Baptist Church. Services were held April 19 at Schindewolf-Stevens-Stout Funeral Home, with Pastor David Kiper officiating. Burial was in Grove Cemetery, Kenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Esperanza "Hope" H. Duran, 51, Lima, died April 14, 1999 at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born Sept. 15, 1947 in McAllen, Texas, to Faustino and Ninfa Alvarado Andrade. Her mother survives. On Nov. 27, 1963, she married Emanuel M. Duran and he survives. Survivors also include three sons, Arnold D.Duran of Houston, Texas, Christopher J. (Kristen) Duran of Columbus, Ga. and David J. Duran of Lima; five daughters, Rita H. Duran, Linda G. Duran and Brenda R. Duran, all of Lima, Elaine A. (Scott) Taylor of Northeast, Maryland, and Jane B. (Shane) Harper of Deshler; one brother, Santos F. Andrade of Rosenburg, Texas; three sisters, Alicia Andrade Monroe of Coldwater, Esmeralda Garcia Ruthaford of North Carolina and Rosa Maria Andrade of Rosenburg, Texas; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Allen V. and Thomas E. Duran. Mrs. Duran was a homemaker. She was currently attending St. Rose Catholic Church. She was a member for 18 years of Emmaculate Conception Catholic Church in Deshler. Services were held April 19 at St. Rose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Norbert Howe officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Celina. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Julia M. Napier, 56, Ada, died April 15, 1999 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Fla. She was born May 28, 1942 in Paintsville, Ky., to George Arlin and Willia (Hayden) Wells. She married James G. Napier on July 2, 1961, and he died Feb. 14, 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne N. Meyer of Sarasota, Fla., and Jane A. Napier of Ada; two brothers, Arlie (Anne) Wells of New Carlisle and Gary F. (Judith) Wells of Findlay; five sisters, June (James) Trimble of Marion, Helen (Virgil) Pack of Huber Heights, Thelma (Neil) McCullough of LaRue and Sue (Ernest) Hopson Jr. and Sharon (Harold) Music, both of Ada. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Joshua James Powell; one half sister, Mildred Panasky; and four half brothers, Bill, Ernest, Darvin and Jack Wells. Mrs. Napier was a homemaker and a supervisor at K-Mart at Eastgate for several years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Ada Church of Christ (Disciples). Services were held April 19 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with the Rev. Penelope Brown officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation and/or the Ada Church of Christ (Disciples).

Kathryn E. Leis, 90, Lima, died April 16, 1999 at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 25, 1908, in Alger to John Q. and Hattie Fultz Ellis. On Aug. 29, 1930, she married Donald M. Leis, who survives. Survivors also include two sons, Robert M. (Marilyn) Leis and Jack D. (Cindy) Leis, both of Lima; a daughter, Betty Sue Wharton of Lima; four sisters, Irene Craig and Doris Thornton, both of Toledo, Iris Eckenrode of Mansfield and Margie Miller of Lima; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Lloyd Ellis; and three sisters, Helen Alcock, Ruth Dicus and Letha Fensler. Mrs. Leis was a homemaker. She was a member of Epworth Untied Methodist Church and a former member of Frame Methodist Church in Alger. Services were held April 19 at the Lewis Chapel of Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Judy Gibson officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church.

Cecil M. DeLong, 60, Alger, died April 16, 1999 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Hardin County, to Cecil Arthur and Phoebe (Sunderland) DeLong. On Feb. 14, 1957, he married Beverly Jean Hughes, and she survives in Alger. Survivors also include three sons, Timothy (Geri) DeLong, Cecil E. (Michele) and Michael (Susan) DeLong, all of Kenton; two brothers, Arthur (Donna) DeLong of Kenton and Clyde (Carol) DeLong of Belle Center; four sisters, Lenora (Arthur) Conley and Audrey (Maurice) Kidd, both of Kenton, Lola (James) Yoakam of Alger and Martha (Leo) Crawford of Lakeview; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Mr. DeLong was a lifelong farmer. He also retired in 1988 from Ford Motor Company in Lima after 30 years. He was a member of Alger Assembly of God Church, where he was a Board member and an assistant Sunday school superintendent. He was also a member of the UAW #1219 of Lima. Services were held April 20 at Alger Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. D.Ray Miller officiating. Burial will be in McDonald-Fairview Cemetery, Kenton. Memorials may be made to Alger Assembly of God Church.

Mary J. Steed, 72, Lima, died April 16, 1999 at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Allen County. Her parents, Bill L. Hawk and Fern Cleola Norbeck Fisher are deceased. On Sept. 23, 1943, she married Willis A. "Bill" Steed, who died Feb. 3, 1997. Area survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann (Donald) Hale of Harrod. Mrs. Steed was a homemaker. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 54 and Brand's Lake Fishing Club, Wapakoneta. Services were held April 19 at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, with the Rev. Forest E. Jarrell officiating. Burial was in Fletcher Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Betty B. Archer, 75, Ada, died April 22, 1999 in Ada. She was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Lima to Hugh and Ruby (Shaw) Holloway. On Oct. 21, 1942, she married Lawrence H. Archer, and he died May 13, 1987. Survivors include three sons, David (Debra) Archer of Hubert N.C., Eric (Kim) Archer and Rod (Suzanne) Archer, both of Ada; three daughters, Gretchen Cadegan of Columbus, Bonnie (Carl) Wilkerson of Ada, and Laurie Archer of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Phoebe Holloway of Ada; 14 grandchildren; and on great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Archer; a brother, Bernard Holloway, and a son-in-law, David Cadegan. Mrs. Archer was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church, the church circle and the Leah Circle, and a member of the P.E.O. Club of Ada. Services were held April 26 at the First United Methodist Church of Ada, with the Rev. George Reed, OSL, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Archer Memorial Fund at the Smull College of Engineering at Ohio Northern University.

Roy M. Nixon, 85, Harrod, died April 21, 1999 at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton. He was born Dec. 17, 1913, in Shinnston, W. Va., to George Jefferson and Pearl Bartlett Nixon. On Dec. 31, 1938, he married Lena Fitzpatrick, who died June 30, 1993. Survivors include a son, William Roy (Donna) Nixon of Franklin, Ind.; a daughter, Alice N. (Fred) Kimble of Franklin, N.C.; two brothers, George J. Nixon Jr. of Lynchburg, W.Va. and John R. Nixon of Wapakoneta; a sister, Beatrice Nixon Kerr of Lima; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Nixon; and two sisters, Mary Lee Nixon Gerard and Ruth Nixon Wolverton. Mr. Nixon retired from the Weights and Measures Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was a farmer. He was a 50-year member of St. Johns Lodge 24 Free and Accepted Masons, Shinnston, W.Va., and a member of the Ohio cremation and Memorial Society. Services were held April 23 at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, with the Rev. Bill Herr officiating. Burial of the cremated remains was in Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, Shinnston, W.Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund of Richland Manor Nursing Home, 7400 Swaney Rd., Bluffton, Ohio 45817.
