Lucy "Sam" Neer Reilley
Lucy "Sam" Neer Reilley, 78, of Edgewood Street, Wheeling, formerly of Wheeling Ave., Glen Dale, died Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale.
Born on Saturday, June 18, 1921, in Wheeling, Lucy was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Pieffer Neer.
She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Reilley, in 1998; three brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Reilley, and Patrick (Debbie) Reilley, of Moundsville; a daughter, Mrs. John (Jane) Reilley Ryan of Wheeling; a sister-in-law and special friend, Mary "Sis" Reilley Board, of Glen Dale; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Diane Board, of Glen Dale.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 9:00am until 10:45am, at Grisell Funeral Home, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, at 11:00am, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Moundsville, with Rev. Fr. Albert Driesch, TOR, the celebrant.
Interment follows in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard.

Nancy L. Whorton
Nancy L. Whorton, 57, of Elm Street, Moundsville, died Monday, September 27, 1999 at her residence.
She was the Assistant Director of Information Help of the United Way, Wheeling; and attended the Moundsville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Grant Whorton.
Surviving are her father, Eugene Whorton, of Moundsville; five brothers, Samuel Lee, Jerry, and Daniel Grant Whorton, all of Moundsville, Eugene Whorton, Jr., of Cameron, and Robert Dean Whorton, of Mt. Pleasant, PA; a sister, Joan Hinerman, of Waynesboro, VA; a special friend, David Fink; five nieces; three nephews; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, where funeral services will he held on Thursday, at 10:00am.

Mollie A. Ralston Rose, 57, of Cadiz, OH, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV. She was born in Mansfield, OH on Feb. 15, 1942, the daughter of the late Dare Ralston and Rosalie Carson Ralston Bradley.
She was a former nurses aide at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, and a housewife.
She was a member of Minksville Church of Christ, Cadiz.
She was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are her husband, James E. Rose, Cadiz; 2 sons, John Meadows, Cadiz, Brent Meadows, Auburndale, FL; 2 sisters, Sandra Jones, Cadiz, Mardell Dulkoski, Jewett, OH; 1 stepson, Jeremy Rose, Cadiz; 6 grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Wednesday, Sept. 29, 5-9 p.m.
The funeral will be Thursday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Evang. Robert Main officiating. Burial will be at Lees Run Cemetery, Cadiz.

Wilma E. Riggs Coffield
Wilma E. Riggs Coffield, 93, formerly of Myrtle Avenue, Moundsville, died Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at the Mound View Health Care Center.
Born on February 25, 1906, in Oak Dale, WV, Wilma was the daughter of the late Samuel Willie and Martha Ellen Francis Riggs.
She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Limestone United Presbyterian Church, for over 79 years.
She served as the pianist for the church for 60 years; was a member of the West Virginia Extension Homemakers Council for 63 years; and was a member of the 4H All Stars.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, on March 3, 1972; a sister, Mary Jane McClure; and four brothers, Avery, Hoover, Edwin and Willard Riggs.
Surviving are two foster sons, Harry Edwin Tucker, Sr., of Moundsville, and Paul W. Tucker, Sr., of Glen Dale; a foster daughter, Norma Jean Stillman, of Crestview, FL; 10 foster grandchildren; 10 foster great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Rev. Robert McClure, of Chambersburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Wilda Riggs, of Moundsville; two nieces, Linda Riggs Kelly, of Moundsville, and Roberta McClure Goodman, of Strasburg, PA; and a special friend, Evelyn Shook, of Moundsville.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Grisell Funeral Home, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville. Friends will then be received on Friday, at the Limestone United Presbyterian Church, from 12noon until the time of service at 1:00pm.

Martha A. White, 82, Cadiz, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center, East Columbus, OH. She was born on July 14, 1917, in Scio.
She was a member of the St. James AME Church, Cadiz, a former receptionist at the Cadiz Senior Center and a retired nurses aid at Harrison Community Hospital.
She was a member of the Harrison County Democratic Women's Club, Choir and Missionary Society President at St. James AME Church, a delegate to the AME Annual Conference; AARP, and the Steubenville Chapter of the NAACP.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd White, in 1957; her mother, Margaret Christian; two brothers, Wesley and Marion Christian; and an older sister.
Surviving are four sons, Floyd and his wife, Pearl, Columbus; George and his wife Diana, Cadiz; Everett and his wife, Linda, Cleveland; Nelson and his wife, Lucretia, Akron; a daughter, Margaret White, Cadiz; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Sep. 26, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz.
The funeral will be held Monday, Sep. 27, at 1 p.m. at the St. James AME Church, 300 E. Market St., Cadiz, with Rev. Jerry Bankston officiating, followed by burial at Cadiz Union Cemetery.

Charles E. (Ed) Piatt Sr.
Charles E. (Ed) Piatt Sr., 90, of the Sunnyslope Retirement Center, Bowerston, and formerly of Cadiz,died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at the Sunnyslope Retirement Center. He was born in Bellaire, OH, on May 5, 1909, the son of the late George Albert Piatt and Alice Fitch Piatt.
He was a former employee of Wheeling Steel and was retired from Consolidation Coal Co., formerly Hannah Coal Co.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz and the Free and Accepted Masons, Ionic Lodge, Bellaire.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sullivan Piatt in 1992, and two brothers, Earl and Max Piatt.
Surviving are a son, Charles E. Piatt Jr. of Pensacola, FL; a sister, Alice Drummond of Colorado and three grandchildren.
Graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery, Bellaire, OH, with Rev. William Hudson officiating.

Gertrude Campbell
Gertrude Campbell, 66, of Kecks Court, Moundsville, died Wednesday, Jan 12, 2000, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale. Born on Jan. 15, 1933, in New York, Gertrude was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie Cook Schmidt.
She was a retired Human Resource Manager for the WV Department of Corrections, with over 30 years of service, and attended the Simpson United Methodist Church in Moundsville.
Gertrude was also a volunteer of the House of the Carpenter, Moundsville, and a member of the Moundsville Senior Citizens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Campbell, in 1995.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Nick (Arlene) Magnone, Carol Wallace, and Mrs. Casey (Debbie) Laing, all of Moundsville, and Lorraine Gossett of Union City, TN; a brother, Richard Schmidt of East Petersburg, PA; seven grandchildren and a great grandson.

Pataricia A. West, 71, of Tenth St., Moundsville, and formerly of Fork Ridge, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale. Born on March 1, 1928, in West Palm Beach, FL, Patricia was the daughter of the late Charles and Lucie Williams Tucker.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Fork Ridge Homemakers Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold West, and a granddaughter, Peggy A. White.
Surviving are a son, William C. West of Ripley, WV; four daughters, Mrs. Al (Linda Sue) Mackechnie of Nuncan SC, Mrs. Harry (Patty) Anderson of St. Clairsville, Elsie West of Columbus, and Peggy White of Adena, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Petty) Pell of Myersville, MD, and Gwen Allen of Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren.

Gladys Brothers 94, of Montrose, CO died Sunday, January 9, 2000 in Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose. She was born in East Rochester, OH in 1905, the daughter of Mary Van Pelt Knight and Andrew Knight.
Gladys lived in Scio, OH for many years and retired from the Scio Pottery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Brothers in 1949, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Virginia Caswell of New Port Richey, FL and Betty J. Brothers of Montrose, CO, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in the Carrollton, Minerva, Malvern and Augusta areas.
Graveside services will be held in August, OH on Saturday, January 22, 2000 at 10:00 A.M.
Ola C. (England) Orr
Ola C. (England) Orr, 80 years old, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Jan. 9th in Jacksonville.
She was a former Jewett resident, born Feb. 9, 1913 in Steubenville, Ohio, daughter of the late Fred and Nina grim England.
She was a member of the Wintersville Methodist Church, and along with her husband, Delwyn, who preceded her in death, Feb. 24, 1995, operated the United Dry Cleaners in Wintersville for 25 years.
Mrs. Orr was also preceded in death by a brother, David England.
Surviving are 2 sons, Gary Orr of Statesville, N.C., Delwyn Orr Jr. of Corona, Calif.
One daughter survives - Mrs. Edward (carol) Aldridge of Jacksonville, Fla.
10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren survive.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Wed. Jan. 12th at 2:00 pm in the Blackburn Funeral Home, 416 E. Main St., Jewett, Ohio.

Ralph E. Keener-77 - of College Street, Scio, Ohio died June 1, 2000 at the West Penn Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born in Greensburg, Pa. on Jan. 29, 1923 the son of the late Alva and Frances Blaka Keener.
Ralph was a retired employee of PPG where he worked for over 31 years. He is also a World War 2 Army veteran.

Arthur L. Kirkpatrick - 53 of the Carriage Inn, St. Charles Street, Steubenville, Ohio died on June 4th. After a long illness.
Arthur was born in hundred, West Virginia, a son of the late Joseph and Frostey Williams Kirkpatrick, on May 1, 1947.

Charlotte Jean Hyust, 64, of Sanford, FL, and formerly of New Athens, OH, died Friday, May 26, 2000, in Sanford. She was born in New Athens on May 10, 1936, the daughter of the late Howard Saffell and Lottie Watson Saffell.
She was a retired from Renaissance Health Care in Sanford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chemist "Sonny" McConnell.
Surviving are her husband, Gordon Hyust of Sanford; a daughter, Rhonda Kuttie of New Athens; four sons, Ray McConnell of Scott Depot, WV, Randy McConnell of Berlin Heights, OH, Robert McConnell of Loraine, OH, and Joe Hyust of Sanford; a brother, Tom Saffell of New Athens; 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at the House of the Shepherd in New Athens with Rev. Paul Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery, New Athens.

Christopher D. Reynolds
Christopher D. Reynolds, 17, of Cadiz, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born in Steubenville, OH, on July 25, 1982, the son of David and Robin Carrel Reynolds.
A senior at Harrison Central High School, he was an avid poetry writer. He recently appeared in the spring play at Harrison Central High School, where he was a former wrestler and a winner of the Power of the Pen competition.
Preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Eleanor Correl, he is survived by his parents; a sister, Jessica Reynolds of the home; his maternal grandfather, John Carrel of New Philadelphia, OH; his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Grace Spencer of Wintersville, OH; two uncles, Keith Reynolds of Wintersville, and Rick Carrel of Cadiz; an aunt, Ronda Carrel of New Philadelphia.
Calling hours were Monday at the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. The funeral was Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at the Scott United Methodist Church, Cadiz, with Rev. William Lawson officiating.
Burial was at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
Ki-ara Rae Smith
Ki-ara Rae Smith, 2 days old, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born on May 26 at Trinity Medical Center East, Steubenville, OH, the daughter of Ricky LaMont Smith and Jean West of Steubenville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Tre'Von LeMont Bickerstaff and her maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Rudolph West.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are two sisters, Zi'Alra Lee West of Steubenville, and Zhanterra Capri Smith of Wheeling, WV; paternal grandparents, Richard Williams and Chrystal Jenell Smith, both of Steubenville; maternal grandparents, Jerry West of Cadiz and Sidney West of Columbus, OH; great grandparents, Jeanne Stewart of Mansfield, OH, Mary Virginia Rudolph of Elyria, OH, William Rudolph of Columbus, and Mary Kathryn Hunter of Steubenville.
Graveside services will held Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Cadiz Union Cemetery with Brother Lester Banks officiating.

Alexander "Joe" Beveridge
Alexander "Joe" Beveridge, 87, of Cadiz, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born in Sparta, Illinois on December 21, 1912, the son of Hector Beveridge and Mary Shaw Beveridge.
He was a retired coal miner with Consolidation Coal company and a member of U.M.W.A.
He was a member of Presbyterian Church of Cadiz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Word and a brother, Robert Beveridge.
Surviving are his wife, Genevieve "Eve" Atkins Beveridge of Cadiz, OH; 1 grandson, Brad Jacobs, Scio, OH, 1 granddaughter, Crystal Jacobs Sayre, Cadiz, OH.

William D. DeWalt
William D. DeWalt, 78, of Canton, OH, and formerly of Cadiz, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Aultman Hospital in Canton. He was born in Canton on Aug. 4, 1921, the son of the late Earl A. DeWalt and Ella K. Diebler DeWalt.
He was a retired truck driver for Lattavo Brothers Trucking in Canton and a member of the First Bretheren Church of Lewisville, OH.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife Genevie Rose DeWalt; two sons, William David Jr. of Canton and Gary David of Lewisville; a brother, James DeWalt of Lewisville; a sister, Audrey Riley of Canton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ted E. Simpson
Ted E. Simpson, 77, of Cambridge, OH, and formerly of Tappan Lake at Deersville and Nottingham, OH, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born on Aug. 8, 1922 in Piney Fork, OH, the son of the late Lincoln Ellsworth and Anna Kathryn Larmer Simpson.
He was a retired superintendent of Tappan Lake Park and a member of Flushing Lodge $298, F&AM for 53 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry J. Simpson.
Surviving are his wife Ilore Harrah Simpson; two sons, Frederick M. and his wife, Joanne, of Versailles, KY, and Lincoln E. and his wife, Lynn, of Greenville, SC; a daughter, Polly McJessy and her husband, Edward of Cambridge; a brother, E. Alan Simpson and his wife, Lois, of Freeport; and eight grandchildren.

Eleanor Meddles, 70, of 107 S. Bridge St., Adena, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Wheeling Medical Park Hospital, Wheeling, WV. She was born in Adena on July 28, 1929, a daughter of the late Roy Goldsborough and Ermma Wonnocott Goldsborough.
She was a member of the Adena United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle, Raymond and Edna Wood, who raised her from early childhood.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Meddles Sr.; two sons, Lloyd Meddles Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Adena, and David Meddles and his wife, Patty, of Elyria, OH; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Brenda) Hopkins of Cadiz; three sisters, Mrs. Mike (Ruth) Autullo of Tiffen, OH, Mrs. Clyde (Janet) Long of Palm City, FL, and Majorie Goldsborough of Adena; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Frank Gunsorek, 87, of 138 Devore St., Adena, died Tuesday, August 15, 2000, at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, OH. He was born on July 3, 1913, at Providence, the son of the late George Gunsorek and Caroline (Bochnach) Gunsorek.
He was retired from Ohio Coal Co.
He was a member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church, Adena.
He was a member of AARP and UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Gunsorek; 4 brothers, John, Stanley, Paul and Mike Gunsorek; 2 sisters, Wanda Matusicki and Mary and Baka.
Surviving are his wife, Victoria (Golec) Gunsorek; 2 sons, Robert "Bob" and his wife Ruth Gunsorek of Owatonna, Minnesota, Larry and his wife Bernadette Gunsorek of Columbus, OH; 2 daughters, Denise Rea of Dekalb, IL, Mrs. Ted (Deborah) Helmick of Panama City, FL.; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

She was born in Dillonvale, OH on August 19, 1930, a daughter of the late Joseph Yeater and Ruth Bowen Yeater.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. DaVia, Sr.; 1 brother, Henry Yeater; 1 sister, Eulla Vinka.
Surviving are 4 sons; Robert DaVia, Silver spring, MD, Joseph DaVia, Jr. and his wife Karen, Adena, OH, Antonio DaVia, Dumfries, VA and Mark DaVia and his wife Peggy, Ashley, OH; 1 daughter, Mrs. Randall (Regina) Stephens, Mannington, WV; 2 granddaughters, Mrs. James (Rana) Taylor, Mannington, WV, Mrs. Jason (Raime) Santee, Fairmont, WV; 2 great granddaughters, Terrin and Stevee Taylor; 2 brothers, Robert Yeater, Bonifay, FL, Joseph Yeater, Adena; 3 sisters, Leah Briggs, Bellaire, OH, Regina Cunningham, Adena, Edna Yarlan, Cleveland.
Friends will be received Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 from 1-4 and 6-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, OH.
Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2000 with Rev. Glenn Miller officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, OH
Marjorie Kay Miller
Marjorie Kay Miller, 58, of Cadiz, and formerly of Sarasota, FL, and St. Clairsville, OH, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at her home. She was born in Martins Ferry, OH, on May 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Kenneth M. Spears Sr. and Dorothy Glass Spears.
She was a motel maid and was associated with Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in St. Clairsville.
Surviving are four sons, Donald of Sarasota, Charles of Arkansas, Michael of San Diego, CA, and John of Justice, IL; two daughters, Audrey of Phoenix, AZ, and Patricia of Sarasota; two brothers, Kenneth Spears Jr. of Venice, FL, and Leonard Spears of St. Clairsville; three sisters, Carol Mellott of Bridgeport, Debbie Spears, with whom she resided in Cadiz, and Kathy Freeman of Bellaire; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family and burial will be at Richland Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz.
Mary A. Worstell Wilburn Stringer
Mary A. Worstell Wilburn Stringer - 79 of Belpre, Ohio--formerly of Jewett-Hopedale, Ohio, died Wed. Aug. 2, 2000 at her daughter's home in Parkersburg, W. Va. after a long illness.
Mary was born in New Athens, Ohio on July 25, 1921 the daughter of the late John W. & Elizabeth L. Dunfee Worstell, Sr. She is a graduate of the Dillonvale High School in the year of 1939.
She was preceded in death by 2 husbands - William Wilburn in 1965 and Edwin Stringer in 1990. 2 infant twin sons - a stepson - James Stringer - 3 brothers - John Worstell, Louis Worstell, Norman Worstell.
Mary is a member of the Apostolic Revival Tabernacle church in Mineral Wells, W.Va.
Mary is survived by-1 son - John Wilburn of Marietta, Ohio, 1 daughter- Mrs. Barbara Fox of Parkersburg, WV., 1 step daughter - Mrs. Donald (Carol) Raber - Hopedale, Ohio, 1 step son - Donald Stringer -Hopedale, Ohio, 4 grand daughters -- 6 great grandchildren - 2 great great grandchildren, 7 step grand children and 8 step great grandchildren -- and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home on High Street in Hopedale, Ohio, on Friday, August 4th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. services there on Saturday, August 5th at 1 p.m. The Rev. James L. Perine will officiate with burial following at the Greenwood Cemetery, near Hopedale.

Patrick A. (Patsy) Ross - 76, of 314 High Street, Hopedale died Tuesday morning Nov. 7th. At East Ohio Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 5, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio the son of the late Joseph and Carmella Comparato Ross.
He is survived by - his wife of 54 years whom he married on Sept. 3, 1946 - Elma (Chickie) Gregory Ross of Hopedale. 2 daughters - Mrs. Roger (Melanie) Ross Reynolds of Adena; Miss Keele Ross of Hopedale; 2 sons - Mr. Gregory and his wife Janice Ross of Wheeling, WV.; Mr. Duane Ross of Hopedale; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren
A brother - John Ross of Youngstown, Ohio 3 sisters- Nora Black of Austintown, Ohio Angeline Sich of Vicksburg, Michigan; Julia Vaccaro of Hermitage, Pa.
Friends and family will be received Thursday from 1-4 and 6-9 pm. at Blackburn Funeral Home at 324 High Street, Hopedale, Ohio. Services will be held there on Friday at 2 pm

Clifford William Albright
Clifford William Albright, 75, of 310 Harrison Ave. in Cadiz, Ohio, died at his home Monday Nov. 6th after a long illness.
He was born Sept. 11, 1925 in Operman, Ohio, son of the late Forest and Izabell Edgar Albright. He was a retired coal miner, who worked for both Polen Coal and Consolidation Coal Co.
Clifford was a WW II Army veteran, a member of the Hopedale American Legion, the Cadiz Eagles and the United Mine Workers of America.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Lester Albright and a sister Loretta Johnson. Surviving, are 2 sons, Bryan Bartimus of Cadiz William Albright of Hopewell.
2 daughters - Mary Elaine Dorman and Lois Jane Maxfield both of Springfield, Mo.
1 sister - Ethel Steele - of Columbus, Ohio
6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren

Hazel Elizabeth Tipton Scott
Hazel Elizabeth Tipton Scott, 86 of rural Jewett, Ohio passed away Friday, Nov. 3rd. At Trinity East Hospital, following a short illness.
She was born Aug. 15, 1914 at Centre Unity, Ohio the daughter of the late Alonzo and Mary Busby Tipton. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers - Fred Tipton and Gayle Tipton & 2 sisters - Lois Winings and Beatrice Trombetti
Hazel was a graduate of Jewett High School and a graduate of Kent State University.
She was a member of Centre Unity Presbyterian Church, where she was the pianist for many years, and the Ladies Aid Society, also the Harrison County Retired Teachers Association. Hazel retired from Harrison Hills school system. She taught at the following schools; Centre Unity, Cadiz Junction, Blueridge, German, and Jewett.
Surviving are her husband - John W. Scott, whom she married on July 24, 1941. A son - Allen Scott and his wife Mary of Kilgore, Ohio a daughter - Sue Atkins and her husband Andy of Hopedale. 4 grandchildren -Eric Scott and his wife Lori of Kilgore, Ohio & Mrs. Elizabeth Skipper and husband Eric of Charleston, S.C.; Scott Atkins & Alicia Atkins of Hopedale, Ohio; 1 great granddaughter - Danielle Scott of Kilgore.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home at East Main Street in Jewett, Ohio on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. Services will be there on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wilford Simeral officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery near Jewett, Ohio.
