Lynn Marie Bartlett, 37, of Bedford, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in Cleveland.
Born Sept. 17, 1963, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Ralph and Sheila (Rothacker) Kingsmill. She formerly lived in Streetsboro.
Mrs. Bartlett was employed in sales.
Survivors include her husband, Michaelt; son, Michael Jr.; daughters Courtney, Kelly, and Shannon Bartlett; parents, Ralph and Sheila Kingsmill; and sisters, Lori (Jeffrey) Nemeth and Lisa Richards.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 521 Broadway, Bedford. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 400 Warrensville Center Road, Bedford. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery in Northfield.

Dorothy Aldridge, 75
Former Kent resident Dorothy Aldridge, 75, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at her home in Wethersfield, Conn.
Born Oct. 2, 1925, in Kent, she was the daughter of Thomas and Genevieve (Shanley) Linnen.
Mrs. Aldridge was a research assistant at the Institute of Living for many years, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include her husband, William; daughters, Rosemary Aldridge of Canton and Carol Aldridge of Warren; granddaughters Sarah Aldridge and Joann Daigle, whom she raised; one great-grandson; brothers Thomas (Metta) Linnen of Hubbard and John (Peggy) Linnen of Munroe Falls; and sisters, Patricia Zeller of Stow and Jean (William) Howard of Ft. White, Fla. Her brother, Paul Linnen; sisters, Louise Linnen and Joanne Strah, and brother-in-law William Zeller, all died previously.
Services were held June 12 in Connecticut. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Connecticut. Arrangements were made by Rose Hill Funeral Home in Rocky Hill, Conn.

Marvin Bailey, 69
GARRETTSVILLE - Marvin A. Bailey, 69, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at home following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 31, 1931 in Troy Township, he was the son of Home and Georgine (Klein) Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was most recently employed as a repairman for the Furon Corp., retiring in 1994. He was a foreman at Polson Rubber in Garrettsville for 25 years.He was a graduate of Hiram College.
Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a social member of VFW Post 1055 in Ravenna, and was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ravenna. He enjoyed hunting, especially for deer, and working with tractors and mowers.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes (Moskal); brothers, Freeman (Mildred), Clyde (Donna) and Dale (Lynne), all of Mantua; sisters, Eleanor (Sam) McAnich of Garrettsville; Grace (Archie) Eggleston of West Farmington, and Jean (Wilbur) Valot of Newton Falls; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Bailey of Garrettsville. His parents; brothers, Homer and Charles F.; and sisters, Pearl Bartholomew and Alma Dyson died previously.

Roger Krohn, 52
MANTUA - Roger Krohn, 52, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Conroe, Texas, following a long illness.
Born July 14, 1948, in Bedford, he was the son of Herbert and Jeanette (Monroe) Krohn. He was a lifetime resident of Mantua.
Mr. Krohn was a lab technician for Samuel Moore & Company in Mantua.
He was a member of the Mantua Methodist Church and the Crestwood Lions Club, serving as chairman of the Christmas tree sales. He enjoyed reading and long walks.
Survivors include a brother, Dennis (Pat) Krohn of Garrettsville; sister, Debra (Robert) Garling of Willis, Texas; three nephews; and one niece.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Portage Faith United Methodist Church in Mantua. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua.

Sharon Edwards, 51
Former area resident Sharon Edwards, 51, of Valrico, Fla., died Monday, June 18, 2001, at her home.
She was a 1968 graduate of Rootstown High School. She moved from the area to Florida in 1971.
Mrs. Edwards was a registered nurse in the critical care unit of St. Joseph's Hospital and was an instructor in the RN program at an area college. She was a graduate of Florida Southern School of Nursing.
Survivors include her husband, Terry D; sons, James (Lindsey) of Brandon, Fla., Christopher (Roxanne) of San Antonio, Texas and Brian of Brandon, Fla.; two grandchildren; brothers, Jim White of Kent and R.J. White of Silver Lake; sisters, Nancy McGee of Ravenna, Trish Wood of Stow and Margie Curry of Marietta, Ga.

NELSON - Military graveside services will be held Monday for Henry C. Vanderhoeven, 92, who died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at the Laurie Ann Nursing Home in Newton Falls.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Herrington Cemetery, Nelson.
Born March 6, 1909 in The Hague, Holland, he was the son of Cornelius and Margaret (Seiman) Vanderhoeven.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Vanderhoeven was a farmer. He was a Portage County resident since 1968.
Survivors include a nephew, Sam (Anna Mae) VanDerHoeven of Nelson; and great-nephew, Thomas (Lois) Schaffer of Freedom.

Kenneth E. Longenette, 46, of Kent, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a brief illness.
Born June 28, 1954, in Ravenna, he was the son of Kenneth and Barbara (Hurst) Longenette.
A life-long Portage County resident, he was a rubber worker at Crest Rubber.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth (Jeanette) Longenette of Ravenna and Barbara (Wes) McDaniel of Ravenna; brother, Michael McDaniel of Ravenna; and sisters, Brenda Wilson of Kent and Becky Longenette of Ravenna.

Charles G. Dotterweich, 60, of Ravenna, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born June 22, 1941, in Cleveland, he was the son of Ralph and Thelma (Rahm) Dotterweich. He had lived in Ravenna for the last 38 years.
Mr. Dotterweich was an assembler with General Motors in Lordstown, where he had been employed for 22 years.
Survivors include his wife, Carol L. (Try), to whom he was married for 38 years; son, Monty B. of Ravenna; daughter, Candy L. (Herbert) Legg of Ravenna; four grandchildren; mother, Thelma Livingston of Ravenna; and brothers, Roy (Linda) Dotterweich of Tiffin and Roger (Kathy) Dotterweich of Andover. Dessie A. Harper, 68, of Ravenna, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Akron City Hospital.
Born Dec. 11, 1932, in Parsons, W. Va., she was the daughter of Clarence and Laurie (Collett) Wilson. She had lived in Kent before moving to Ravenna 38 years ago.
Mrs. Harper was a homemaker. She enjoyed flowers and sewing.
Survivors include her husband, Harry E., to whom she was married for 50 years; sons, Benjamin C. of Ravenna and Ralph E. (Kathy) of Edinburg; daughters, Juanita B. (Harry) Amie of Edinburg, Harriet (Charles) English of Mantua, Barbara (Robert) Purpera of Ravenna Township and Effie M. Bruce O. Barlett, 70
Bruce O. Barlett, 70, of Silver Oaks, Kent, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Sept. 3, 1930, in Franklin, he was the son of Roy and Margaret (Hoerner) Barlett.
Mr. Barlett was an engineer for Ohio Bell.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Ohio National Guard.
He was a member of United Church of Christ in Kent, Rockton Masonic Lodge, Kent Chapter No. 192 RAM, Cuyahoga Falls Council No. 144, Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland, past patron of the Olive Chapter No. 53 Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Post of Lebanon, Ohio.
Mr. Barlett volunteered at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna for 10 years and was a member of the Streetsboro Zoning Board of Appeals for 25 years. He was on the Board of Trustees of the Order of the Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon for six years.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel (Ross), to whom he was married for 48 years; sons, Paul (Peggy) of Overland Park, Kansas, Steve (Celia) of Coral Springs, Fl., Ken (Monica) of Stow and Doug of Titusville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and sister, Jane Lackens of Albuquerque, New Mexico; A brother, Roy; and sister, Anna Marie Updike, died previously.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Tuesday at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, with the Rev. Patrick Russell officiating. Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday and will be followed by Masonic services at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.

ATWATER - A memorial service was held Sunday for Mary Elizabeth Gardner, 78, who died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
Born June 18, 1923, in Washington County, Ohio, she was the daughter of James and Susie (Spears) Waite.
Mrs. Gardner was a retired toll collector for the Ohio Turnpike Commission.
Survivors include her sons, John D. (Carol) of Atwater, James L. (Tina) of Barberton, Paul E. of McConnelsville, Mark E. (Vicki) of Edinburg; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Waite Jr. of Cumberland, Ohio, Roger L. Waite of Coshocton; and former husband, John P. Gardner of Atwater.

Louse Ware, 77
Louise W. Ware, 77, of Kent, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at her home.
Born March 26, 1924, in Marion County, W.Va., she was the daughter of Benjamin H. and Mary Maude (Morgan) Skinner.
Mrs. Ware most recently was director of nurses for Potomac House Nursing Home in Jane Lew, W.Va. She previously worked as a registered nurse at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna and at Kent State University.
She graduated from Shinnston High School in Shinnston, W.Va. and St. Mary's School of Nursing in Clarksburg, W. Va. She received her certification as a laboratory technician and X-ray technician from the Franklin Medical School of Science in Philadelphia, Pa. She earned her degree in nursing home and hospital administration at St. Joseph's University in Massachusetts.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Shinnston for more than 50 years. She was a member of Broad Run Baptist Church in Jane Lew, W.Va.
Survivors include her husband, Tony; son, Tony (Barbara) of Solon; daughters, Linda (Willie) West of Akron and Marylou (Robert) McClelland of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her sister, Betty Skinner, died previously.
There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held for the family. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery. Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, is handling arrangements.
Chad Meadows, 20
Chad W. Meadows, 20, of Kent, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 21, 2000 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. The Portage County Coroner is investigating.
Born Nov. 22, 1980 in Cleveland, he was the son of Vickie L. and Donald S. Meadows. He attended Sandusky High School and graduated in 1999 from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent.
Mr. Meadows was attending Kent State University, where he was a sophomore majoring in criminal justice. He was a member of Theta Chi fraternity.
He enjoyed running, golf, bicycling and art.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Vickie L. and Charles E. Snyder of New London; brother, Ivan Lyons of Eastlake; sister, Becka Snyder of New London; and grandparents, Bill and Evelyn Meadows of Norwalk and Betty Green of Clyde. His father, Donald S. Meadows, died previously.
Private visitation has been held. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26 at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Sandusky.

Pearl Hoover, 88
Pearl L. (Mekediak) Hoover, 88, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, after a long illness.
Born in Wolf Run, Ohio, she spent most of her life in the Akron-Brimfield area.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Mogadore, where she was an altar aide. She helped for many years in the kitchen and with perogie workshops.
Survivors include a nephew her niece and nephew, Emma and Ron Porter. Her husband, Peter; brothers John, Ted, and Andy; and sister, Mary, died previously.

Robert Lee Woods Sr., 45, of Ravenna died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Altercare of Ravenna after a long illness.
Born Nov. 6, 1955, in Ravenna, he was the son of James and Juanita Woods.
Mr. Woods was a detailer.
Survivors include his son, Robert L. Jr. of Kent; one grandchild; brothers, James (Charlotte) Woods of Ravenna and Donald (Kim) Woods of Florida; sisters, Marie (Luther) Fortson, Shirley (Paul) Justice and Karen (Doug) Sanders, all of Ravenna, and Linda Sanders and Joyce, both of Kent. Susan M. Malcolm, 54, of Newton Falls, died Saturday, June 23, 2001.
Mrs. Malcolm worked as a radiologist and file clerk in the medical industry.

Philip C. Putnam
SHALERSVILLE - Philip C. Putnam, 88, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 24, 1913, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Charles and Lulu (Botts) Putnam. He was a graduate of Cornell College in Iowa. He earned his master's degree in education from Harvard University and his doctorate from Colorado State College.
Mr. Putnam spent his entire life in the field of education. He was a former principal of Crestwood High School and retired from the State University College at Potsdam, N.Y., where he was a supervisor of the Department of Education. He returned to the Mantua area in 1979.
During retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively for Bixler Tours, visiting many states. He also made several trips to Quito, Ecuador as a support person for a medical missionary team doing eye care for under-privileged people.
He was a member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church in Mantua, where he participated in its musical programs, particularly the church choir and the handbell choir. He was a longtime member of the Crestwood Lions Club, and a 65-year member of the Masons, holding membership in Mantua Masonic Lodge No. 533. He was past master of the Masonic lodge in Potsdam.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he earnedthe rank of lieutenant and served aboard the minesweeper, the U.S.S. Pheasant.
Survivors include his wife, Helen (Albers), whom he married April 15, 1956; sons, Ralph (Susan) and Douglas (Linda), both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; daughters, Pamela (William) Gast of Mantua, Paula Winters of Cincinnati and Sandie Papierski of Ft. Lauderdale; five grandchildren; brother, Paul of Pharr, Texas; and sisters ,Pearl McKelvy of Geneseo, Ill., and Phyllis Minard of Montgomery, Ill.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with Oke Meyer officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville.

Stanley B. Smith
Stanley B. Smith, 82, of Parkman, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at his home after a pariod of failing health.
Born July 4, 1918, in Parkman, he was the son of Howard E. and Alice (Randall) Smith. A lifetime resident of Parkman, he was part of the sixth generation of the Smith family in that community.
Mr. Smith grew up helping his father in the dairy and maple syrup business. He also later raised beef cattle and Belgian draft horses. Following military service in World War II, he became a dairy farmer on the Frank Cone Farm on S.R. 422 and in 1953, he was ready to purchase the farm. He carried on a livestock trucking business for 15 years.
He was drawn into 4-H leadership and led a calf club in southeast Geauga County for several years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for more than 50 years and served as a Parkman Township trustee for 20 years.
Mr. Smith was honored with the Goodyear/NACD Conservation Award of Merit and named "Conservationist of the Year" in 1989 by the Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District. He placed in the top seven at the maple syrup judging festival five times and was inducted into the Maple Syrup Producers Hall of Fame.
In 1940, he was among the first five men from the Portage area drafted into the U.S. Army. He spent five years as a clerk in the Medics, including two in Australia and one in New Guinea. He earned an Asian Pacific Campaign medal with three bronze stars, the American Defense Service Medal and a Distinguished Unit badge.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes (Monroe), whom he married Dec. 23, 1941; sons, David (Olivia) and Darl, both of Parkman; daughters, Doris (Paul) Delbo of Middlefield and Diane (Dennis) Hall of Parkman; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Maxine Hauxhurst of Garrettsville, Jeannette Loomis of Windsor and Bernice Wells of Parkman. Two brothers and one sister died previously. He and his wife reared four foster children as well as four children of their own.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hiram Christian Church, with the Rev. Thomas Niccolls and the Rev. Edward Bartunek officiating.

Lois Marie Visher
Lois Marie Visher, 84, of Sebring, a former Ravenna resident, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring.
Born Aug. 22, 1916 in Mogadore, she was the daughter of Frank and Ina (Holmes) Cordier. A resident of Ravenna since 1943, she had lived in Sebring the past two years.
Mrs. Visher was a school teacher in the Springfield school system from 1939 to 1945.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ravenna, where she served as treasurer from 1970 to 1979.
Survivors include her son, Dale Bond of Glastonbury, Conn.; daughter, Mary Strope of Cottage Grove, Wis.; two grandchildren; and brothers, Don Cordier of Mogadore and Albert Cordier of Kent. Her husband, Richard C. Bond, died in 1976 and her husband, Victor T. Visher, died in 2000.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bennett Chapel at Copeland Oaks in Sebring, with the Rev. Vernon White officiating. There will be a reception afterward for family and friends. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. is handling arrangements.
