Daniel Frazier
NEWTON FALLS - Daniel E. Frazier, 81, of Newton Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 17 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren after injuries incurred in an automobile accident.
Born Feb. 12, 1917 in Cuyahoga Falls, he was the son of Daniel and Alva (Fye).
Mr. Frazier was a millwright at Republic Steel before retiring in 1978.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Goodwill Baptist Church in Ravenna.
Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Mayfield and Nita Meszaris, both of Champion; sons, William and Daniel, both of Newton Falls; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Harry of Munroe Falls and Francis of Newton Falls. His wife, Augusta, died Sept. 1, 1991. His brother, Frederick; sister, Jessie Lutz; and three grandchildren also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Jack Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Newton Falls Cemetery.

Catherine Marxen
Catherine D. Marxen, 91, of South Chestnut Street in Kent, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at her home.
Born March 31, 1907 (Easter Sunday), in Kent, she was the daughter of William C. and Anna Gertrude (Sawyer) Kline. She was a life resident of Kent.
Mrs. Marxen was a member of St. Patrick Church in Kent, Catholic Daughters of America, Loyal Christian Benefit Association, the Fire Ladies Auxiliary, Navy Mothers and St. Patrick's Home & School Association.
Survivors include her sons, James (Doreen) of Gilbert, Ariz., Joseph (Pauline) of Sun City, Calif., Glenn Jr. of Ravenna and John (Vicki) of Morrow, Ga.; daughters, Dorothy (Fred) Jacobs of Kent, Mary Marxen of Kent and Margaret (James) Boyett of Riverview, Mich.; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter (Leona) Kline of Sun City, Calif.; and sisters, Mary Kline of Kent and Eileen Kleck of Canton. Her husband, Glenn "Jake," died in 1970. Her brothers, Robert, William and John Kline; and sister, Margaret O'Felt, also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Church in Kent. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.

Marvin Thwing
Marvin L. "Barney" Thwing, 81, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a former Mantua resident, died Tuesday, September 15, 1998 in Fort Lauderdale.
Born June 21, 1917 in Novelty, Ohio, he was the son of Forrest and FLorence Thwing. He was a 1935 graduate of Russell Township High School.
He lived in Mantua from his marriage in 1947 until 1962, when he moved to Fort Lauderdale.
Mr. Thwing grew up on his family farm and had a well-drilling business with his father. He was a repairman in Florida.
A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Fort Lauderdale Shrine Club. He also was a member of the Tropical Organ and Piano Society in Fort Lauderdale.
Survivors include his sons, Randy (Kathy) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Rex of Fort Lauderdale; daughters, Beth (Kaye) Thomas of Lisle, Ill., and Jill (Robert) McGinnis of Coon Rapids, Minn.; three grandchildren; and sister, Eleanor Ursem of Simi Valley, Calif. His wife, Mildred L. (Brong), whom he married Nov. 3, 1947, died March 28, 1998.
Arrangements were made by Jennings Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale.

Timothy Hickey
NELSON - Timothy M. Hickey, 55, died of natural causes Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at his home.
Born March 20,1943 in Chardon, he was the son of Daniel and Treva (Adams) Hickey. He was a life resident of Nelson Township.
Mr. Hickey was a machine operator at Rockwell International. He operated his own drywall business for many years and also ran an Amish taxi business.
He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He liked to fish.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea (Barnhart); son, Daniel of Garrettsville; daughters, Christine (Thomas) Reiner of Warren, Sonya (David) Hargrave of Warren and Mary Quinn of Newton Falls; stepdaughters, Treva Marie Ringer of Garrettsville and Connie Chaffins of Garrettsville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Daniel of Cleveland and James of Lordstown; and sister, Darlene Difford of Orwell. His parents died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 tonight and from 11 a.m. until services at noon Monday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, Garrettsville. The Rev. Gary Summerland will officiate. Burial will be in Harrington Cemetery in Nelson.

Edward Eidson
Services will be held Tuesday for Ravenna barber Edward W. "Ed" Eidson, 50, who was killed Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998 while bicycling on Lakewood Road in Rootstown.
Born Dec. 31, 1947 in Ravenna, he was the son of Herbert "Stub" and Minnie (Couts) Eidson. He was a 1966 graduate of Ravenna High School, where he had played varsity baseball.
Mr. Eidson has owned and operated Ed's Barber Shop in Ravenna for the past 30 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ravenna and Ravenna Elks Lodge No. 1076. He had played fast pitch softball in the Portage County Church League and also was a volunteer at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Survivors include his brothers, Thomas (Kelly) of Kent and Robert of Akron; sister, Hallie (Lou) McClure of Ravenna; niece and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where the Rev. Tom Poremba will officiate at services at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
Mary Huebner
BRIMFIELD - Mary Ellen Huebner, 62, of Neville Drive, died Thursday Sept. 17, 1998, at Akron City Hospital.
Born Oct. 22, 1935 in Cresson, Pa., she was the daughter of Elmer and Sara (Patterson) LaPorte.
Mrs. Huebner had worked in telephone sales at the Polk Company.
She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Kent.
Survivors include her husband, Howard; sons, Howard (Barbara) Jr. of Strongsville, Buddy (Denise) of Kansas City, Mo. and Stephen (Peggy) of Orlando, Fla.; daughters, Barb (Paul) Kelly of Stow and Mary (Jim) Zukas of Stow; 14 grandchildren; mother, Sara LaPorte of Beckley, W.Va.; brothers, George LaPorte of Brimfield, Mick LaPorte of Albuquerque, N.M., Jim LaPorte of Colorado and Joe LaPorte of Akron; and sister, Sally Bennett of Beckley, W.Va. Her sister, Ruth Ann Gresco, died previously.

Kathrine Woolf
Kathrine Evans Woolf, 87, of East Main Street in Kent, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at her home.
Born Feb. 5, 1911 in Kent, she was the daughter of Kathrine (Huggins) and John Griffith Evans.
Mrs. Woolf was a retired kindergarten teacher for the Kent City Schools.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Aaron Olmstead Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma, Coterie I, National Education Association, Ohio Education Association, the Mable Stevenson Book Review Group and Ravenna Sorosis.
Survivors include her daughters, Gretchen Foshee Bartow of Florida and Virginia Leidtke of North Canton; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Eleanor Sink of Kent. Her husband, Morris, died in 1981. Her sister, Elizabeth Evans, died previously.

The Rev. Irene Goldner
The Rev. Irene Ann (Brenning) Goldner was a partner with her husband in their ministry as well as their marriage.
Rev. Goldner, minister of Christian education for the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ravenna, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998 at her home in Ravenna. She was 61.
Born Oct. 6, 1936 in Indianola, Neb., she was the daughter of John C. and Katherine (Walters) Brenning. Formerly of Findley, Ohio, she had lived in Ravenna since 1989, when her husband, the Rev. Dr. Russell Goldner, was named pastor of the church.
"She felt very much at home in this community," said Dr. Goldner. "Even though she has served by my side for 35 years, this was the first parish that called her as a paid professional. She took real pride in that she never missed Vacation Bible School in her 35 years.
"She also had a gift for developing the church school curriculum and nurturing the teachers," Dr. Goldner said. "That's a great gift that she had to help others."
Rev. Goldner was a member of the Christian Education Committee of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ohio, Regional Board Executive Committee, Regional Assembly Planning Committee, General Board of Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada Personnel Committee and Executive Committee, Christian Womens Fellowship Retreat Chaplain, District Chair for Christian Education and Treasurer for the Ravenna Area Ministerial Association.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Yankton College in South Dakota in 1961, a master's degree from Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Conn. in 1964 and a master's of divinity degree from Methodist Theological School in Columbus in 1982.
In addition to Dr. Goldner, to whom she was married for 35 years, survivors include her daughters, Pamela (Don) Levy of San Diego, and Dr. Melinda (Jeff Feldman) Goldner of Schenectady, N.Y.; three grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth and Vernon, both of Nebraska; and sister, Lorene Cooley of Florida. Her brother, Eugene, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chape, and from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Thursday atFirst Christian Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Howard Ratcliff will officiate. Burial will be in Lakewood Park Cemetery in Rocky River.

Pearl Bronowski
Pearl Bronowski, 80, who has relatives in the Mantua area, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Morningview Nursing Home in Danville, Ohio.
Mrs. Bronowski formerly lived in Bedford and Parma.
Services will be announced by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.
Creed Shaffer
Former Brimfield resident Creed Berkley Shaffer, 78, of Spring, Texas, died Friday, July 31, 1998 at his home.
Born Jan. 20, 1920, he lived in the Brimfield area for 51 years before retiring to Texas seven years ago.
Mr. Shaffer worked for Ametek-Lamb Electric Co. in Kent for 42 years.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis L., to whom he was married 57 years; sons, Bruce of Racine, Wis. and Randy of Houston; daughters, Carole of Cleveland and Sheila of Spring, Texas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five brothers and one sister.
Services were held at Calvary Hill Temple and Cemetery in Spring, Texas.
Clarence Kasburg
Clarence H. Kasburg, 90, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Barberton.
Born June 28, 1908 in Akron, he was the son of Augustus and Heneritta Kasburg.
Mr. Kasburg worked for Akron Pure Milk Co. for 50 years until he retired in 1973.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his sons, Fred of Brimfield and Larry of Akron; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His wife, Thelma, died previously.
There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Ivy Chapel, Akron, with Pastor Jeffrey Hancock officiating.

James Edward Wright
James Edward Wright, 62, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998.
Born in Grenada, Miss., he was the son of Naomi (Willmington) and Eddie Wright.
Mr. Wright was employed by Knapp Co.
He was the minister of music at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Ravenna.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his sons, LeAndrew C., Daron L., Craig A. and Curtis; daughter, DuWan; 12 grandchildren; mother, Naomi Willmington; brother, Charles; sisters, Beulah Mae and Susan M. Lindsey; and fianc e, Nancy Jones. His father, Eddie; brother, Eddie Jr.; and sister, Earlene Monson, died previously.

Emily Fleming
Former Brimfield resident Emily M. Fleming, 72, of Uniontown, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998.
Mrs. Fleming retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron after 32 years of service.
Survivors include her son, Randy (Eileen) of Mogadore; daughter, Lynn (James) Roach of Atlanta; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Derry; and sisters, June Ake and Bernice Heasley. Her husband, Earl, died in 1989.

James Richard "Ricky" Reeves
Services will be held Thursday for James Richard "Ricky" Reeves, 14, of Lake Milton, who died Sunday in a motorcycle accident in Deerfield.
Born Nov. 11, 1983 in Dayton, he was the son of Leva "Lee" (Jordan) Reeves.
He was an eighth grade student at Jackson Milton Middle School. He formerly attended Southeast Schools.
He attended Lake Milton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Lee; and brother, Glen (Lisa) of Kent.

Hendrina V. Benner
BRADY LAKE - Hendrina V. (Giannantonio) Benner, 71, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at home after a long illness.
Born Jan. 20, 1926 in Rotterdam, Holland, she was the daughter of Stephanus Vonk and Hendrina Cornelisen. She had lived in the Ravenna area since 1947.
Mrs. Benner was a seamstress at the Euclid Garment in Kent.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1055 Ravenna and the Women of the Moose No. 1234 Ravenna.
Survivors include her son, Anthony (Gemma) Giannantonio of North Canton; daughter, Jane Francis and her fianc James Kilmire of Akron; four grandchildren; brothers, Cornelis of Belgium, Steef of Holland; and sisters, Mary Vonk of Belgium, Ina V'DKnapp of Holland, and Arieette Shockley of Ravenna. Her first husband, Carl Giannantonio, died in 1976 and her second husband, Carl Benner, died in 1988.

Ralph Fink
Ralph Frederick Fink, 78, of Norwood St., Kent, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Jan. 23, 1920 in Kent, he was the son of Frederick and Edith (Winchell) Fink.
Mr. Fink retired as a research technician for Republic Steel-Research Lab in Independence.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and earned the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal with one bronze star. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a former member of the Kent Camera Club.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, whom he married May 26, 1950; a son, Bruce Fink of Akron; and a sister, Edith Davis of Ravenna.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent.
George Green
Former Randolph resident George R. Green, 83, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, in Clearwater, Fla.
Survivors include his sons, George of California, and Roy (Thora) of Randolph; daughters, Hazel (Leslie) Evans of Hartville, and Nancy (Richard) Raymer of Marysville; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His wife of 56 years, Martha, died Jan. 6, 1998.
Private services will be held.
Carl Spencer
WINDHAM - Carl James "Jim" Spencer, 61, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at home after a long illness.
Born Nov. 17, 1936 in Windham, he was the son of Carl and Mercedes E. (Hoehn) Spencer. He was a lifetime resident of Windham.
Mr. Spencer was a laborer in the manufacturing industry.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He also was a member of the Windham American Legion Post No. 0674 and a member of the Newton Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 3332.
Survivors include brothers, Earl of Warren, Jerry of Ravenna, Scott and Gary of Aurora, Colo.; sisters, Barbara Dennison of Leavittsburg, Dorothy Williams of Leavittsburg, Diane Herro of Westminster, Colo., Melanie Young of Harrisburg, North Carolina, and Cindy Simpson of Aurora, Colo. His parents and brother, Larry, both died previously.

Ora Woodrum
MIDDLEFIELD - Ora M. Woodrum, 84, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
Born Sept. 9, 1914 in Morrisvale, W. Va., she was the daughter of Kenneth and Esta (Stone) Pauley. She had lived in the Geauga-Portage County area since 1953.
Mrs. Woodrum was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Rodney, Roger, John, and Jeff; daughters, Denise Evans and Noca Kumher; 30 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Boyd, whom she married Feb. 29, 1931, died in 1966. Son, Jerry; daughter, Greta McMillin; two brothers; and a sister, also all died previously.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service Saturday at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. The Rev. Ray Mullett will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Dean Hendryx, 92
Dean I. Hendryx, 92, of Geneva, Fla., a former Stow resident, died Sept. 23, 1998.
He was born Oct. 30, 1906 in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). He moved to Florida two years ago.
Mr. Hendryx retired after 43 years of service from Davey Tree Expert Company.
An active outdoorsman, he was an Izaak Walton Society member of many years.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (Hansen), to whom he was married for 68 years; son, Dean of Sanford, Fla.; daughters, Patricia Hendryx Pfeffer of Brady Lake, and Doris Campbell of Geneva, Fla.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Kent.
