Lillie Miller
Lillie Mae Miller, 93, of Painesville, a former Kent resident, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at Lake Hospital Systems East in Painesville. Born Sept. 29, 1905 in South Carolina, she had lived in Painesville for three years. She also was a former resident of Mentor. Mrs. Miller retired as a registered nurse from Greenville General Hospital in Greenville, S.C. She was a U.S. Army nurse during World War II. She was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Janice (Glen) Davis of Painesville; four grandchildren; and sister, Hulda Miller of Kent. Her husband, Ray C., died previously. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Avenue in Mentor. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Robert Reiners
Robert D. Reiners, 77, of Kent, died Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Kent Quality Care Nursing Home. Born Oct. 15, 1920 in Chenoa, Ill., he was the son of Reiner and Malba Reiners. Mr. Reiners was retired in 1985 as maintenance supervisor of Hudson schools district. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kent. Survivors include his wife, Catherine E. (Tryon), whom he married Jan. 9, 1943; son, Reiner (Barbara) of Devils Lake, N.D.; daughters, Roberta (Frederick) Wolfe of Columbus, Faye (Clyde) Ridgway of Uhrichsville and Megan Sue of Kent; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Kathryn (John) Langhoff of Ponitac, Ill. and Ruth (Clarence) Marcotte of Momence, Ill. Mr. Reiners donated his body to the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown. A memorial service will be held Nov. 7 at the United Methodist Church of Kent. Ronald Rodrick
ATWATER - Ronald V. Rodrick, 66, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, following a short illness. Born July 23, 1932 in Martin County, Ind., he was the son of Willard & Mabel (Survance) Rodrick. He had been an area resident for several years. Mr. Rodrick retired from Haag Brothers Construction Co. in Loogootee, Indiana. Survivors include his sons, Gary of Georgia, and Randall of Fairfield, Ohio; daughters, Karen Dover of Waterloo, Iowa, and Rhonda; several grandchildren; brother, Harvey of Newcomerstown, Ohio; and sister, Marjorie Hathaway of Atwater. His sister, Catherine, died previously. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Atwater Cemetery. Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Atwater Chapel, is handling arrangements.

Jacqueline King
Jacqueline King, 65, of Mantua died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998 at her home. Born March 13, 1933 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Moreno. Mrs. King worked as a solderer for 22 years at Channel Products in Chesterland. Survivors include her daughters, Gerrie Zimcosky of Shalersville and Arleen (Steven) King, four grandchildren; and brothers, Charles of Elyria, John of Cleveland and Richard of Arizona; and sister, Pat of North Carolina. A private service will be held. Mallory -Dehaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville is handling the arrangements.

Evelyn Koran
Evelyn M. Koran, 67, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., the sister of Sarah (Howard) Hoover of Charlestown, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998. In addition to Mrs. Hoover, survivors include her husband, Ray, to whom she was married 47 years; two sons; one grandchild; three brothers; and three sisters. Four brothersdied previously. Services will be held Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 403 Racetrack Road NW, Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Arrangements were made by Little Chapel Funeral Home, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., 32547. Phyllis Schill
Services were held today for Phyllis L. (Ranquest) Schill, 78, of Naples, Fla., the mother of Margie (Jack) Miller of Kent, who died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998 at her home. She was born March 20, 1920 in Youngstown. She was a member of East Naples United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a former member of Mahoning Avenue United Methodist Church in Youngstown and Miriam Chapter No. 278 Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to Mrs. Miller, survivors include her husband, Carl E., to whom she was married or 57 years; son, Robert E. (Dale) of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; daughters, Linda (Stanley) Vuletich of Berlin Center and JoAnne (Edward) Kushner of Marysville, Wash.; and five grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Naples Funeral Home in Naples, Fla. Gertrude Everett, 98, of Ravenna, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Altercare Nursing Home in Ravenna. Services are being arranged by Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Jeannette Driver
GOLDSBORO, N.C. - Jeannette Marie Holloway Driver, 41, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at her home. The death is being investigated by a North Carolina medical examiner. Born Dec. 26, 1956 in Ravenna, she was the daughter of James E. Holloway of Ohio and Phyllis Busto of Pikeville, N.C. She was employed by Acme United in Fremont, N.C. Survivors include her parents; sons, Jimmy Nutter of West Virginia, Matthew Brooks and David Brooks, both of Goldsboro; daughter, Emily Nutter of the home; stepfather, Lance Buston; stepmother, Marilyn Holloway; sisters, Darlene Brooks of Pikeville and Michelle Busto of Ohio; brother, Eric Holloway of Ohio; and paternal grandmother, Velma Holloway. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Gertrude Everett
Gertrude Everett, 98, who worked in the business office at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna for 47 years, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Altercare Nursing Home in Ravenna. Born Oct. 5, 1899 in Ravenna, she was the son of Fred and Malinda (Schultz) Everett. She was a life resident of Ravenna resident. Miss Everett was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Ravenna. Survivors include her niece Malinda (Jay) Williams-Laning of Garrettsville; and nephew, John Williams of Akron. Her brother, George; and sisters, Ethel Everett, Florence Fitzgerald, and Laura Ann Williams, died previously. Visitation will be held from noon until services at 1 p.m. Monday at Shorts Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. The Rev. Carol Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.

Paul Loudin
Paul Roger Loudin, 64, of Maysville, N.C., who was a star athlete at Atwater High School, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at his home after a 15-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. A former Atwater resident, he was a 1952 graduate of Atwater High School. He formerly lived in Delray Beach, Fla. Mr. Loudin was a retired carpenter. He was a Mason and a member of the White Oak Free Will Baptist Church and a former deacon of Hypoluxo Baptist Church. He was involved in Little League baseball and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include sons, Raymond (Debra) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and John of Boyton Beach, Fla.; daughter, Betty Jane (Steve) Gaffe of Hayward Calif.; three grandchildren; father, James C. of Tallmadge; brothers, Kyle L. and James R. (Nancy), both of Atwater, and Gerald W. (Gretchen) of Deerfield; sisters, Naomi (Chester) Wise of Atwater and Janet Fleischer of Delray Beach;and Doris Toler Kelum of Maysville. His mother, Retta; brother, Dale; and sister-in-law, Jackie Loudin, died previously. Services and burial were in Maysville, N.C. Gertrude Kommel
ROOTSTOWN - Gertrude M. Kommel, 86, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998. Born Oct. 24, 1911 in Fair Oaks, Pa., she was the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Rhodes) Hoover. Mrs. Kommel formerly was employed by Monarch Rubber Co. of Hartville. Survivors include son, Roy (Ethel) of Roostown; daughter, Norma (Bob) Klainer of Akron; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Annabelle Stamp of Alliance. Her husband, Robert, died previously. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown, with the Rev. Roy Kelsey officiating. Arrangements were handled by Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood Road in Copley.

Garnet Siegfried
Garnet W. Siegfried, 82, of Lakemore, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998 at her residence. Born Feb. 11, 1916 in Portsmouth, Ohio, she was the daughter of Rollie and Gertrude (Minor) Dailey. She had lived in the Akron area most of her life. Mrs. Siegfried was employed by Springfield Township Schools. She was a member of Lakemore United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sons, Al (Margaret)of Brimfield and Keith (Joyce) Siegfried of Dayton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald (Ruth) Dailey of Mogadore and Bill (Thelma) Dailey of Tuscon, Ariz.; and sister, Beverly (Willard) Barnes of New London, Ohio. Her husband, Ralph, died in 1991. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home in Akron, and from 11 a.m. until services at noon Monday at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Road, with the Rev. Louis Dudek
Services have been held in Alabama for Ravenna native Louis Dudek, 66, of Florence, Ala., who died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at his home after a long illness. Born Aug. 8, 1932 in Ravenna, he was the youngest son of George and Emma Dudek. Mr. Dudek retired as a journeyman diemaker from Ford Motor Co. in Muscle Shoals, Ala., after 30 years of service. He worked at the Saginaw plant in Decatur for four years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the United Auto Workers Union. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a coach for the Senior High Church League Basketball team for St. Joseph Church in Florence, Ala. for many years. He was an avid fisherman, birdwatcher, gardener, cook and sports fan. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann (Dudek), to whom he was married for 46 years; son, Louis (Eleanor) of Standish, Maine; daughters, Lynne Devor and Lorie (Norman) Schenck, both of Florence, Ala.; four grandchildren; brother, Frank of Ravenna; and sister, Helen Radzimski of Bedford. FREEDOM - Beverly Gray, 58, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at the Cleveland Clinic after a long illness. Born Aug. 19, 1940 in Hiram Rapids, she was the daughter of Harry Callaway and Evelyn Thomas. She was a life resident of Freedom Township. Mrs. Gray was a cutter at Universal Polymert Rubber, Inc. of Middlefield for 16 years. Survivors include her son, Dennis of Freedom; daughter, Maria Gray of Freedom; a grandson; brothers, Donald of Chardon and Thomas of Cortland; and sisters, Barbara Callaway and Bertene Goff, both of Freedom. Her brother, Dale; and granddaughter, Rebbeca Stone, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Raymond Michaud
Raymond H. Michaud Sr., 80, of Streetsboro, died Saturday, Oct. 3, at his home. Born July 7, 1918 in Bridgeport Conn., he was the son of Albert J. and Rhea (Boiselle) Michaud. Formerly of Lakewood, he lived in Streetsboro since 1956. Mr. Michaud was a tool and die maker for Efficient Industries in Independence for 30 years until he retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro. He also was a member of the Streetsboro Knights of Columbus, and the Streetsboro Eagles. Survivors include his wife, Irene, whom he married in 1942; son, Raymond H. Jr. of Cleveland; daughters, Elaine M. of Cleveland and Lorraine Alarcon of Youngstown; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Edmond of Rhode Island.; and sisters, Angelina Belanger and Theresa Ferland, both of Rhode Island. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shorts Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro with the Rev. Fredrick Slaven officiating.

Donald Humphreys, 75
EDINBURG - Donald J. Humphreys, 75, who was a teacher and principal at Southeast School District for 30 years before retiring in 1978, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998 at the Altercare Nursing Home in Ravenna. Born Jan. 24, 1923 in Akron, he was the son of Leon and Leta (Smith) Humphreys. He was a resident of Atwater before moving to Edinburg 36 years ago. Mr. Humphreys taught for many years in the Deerfield building in the Southeast district. He was a member of the American Legion, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Portage County Retired Teachers Association, A.A.R.P. and the Parkinson's Support Group of Ravenna. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie (Bosch); son, Donald (Mavis) of Columbus; one grandchild; and brothers, Bill of Tallahassee, Fla., and Bob of Sarasota, Fla. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Atwater Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Ruth Chartier officiating. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery.

Ralph Hienton, 85
MANTUA - Robert H. Hienton, 85, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at Anna Marie Nursing Home in Aurora. Born May 8, 1913 in South Newburg, Ohio, he was the son of Carl and Lilian (Gannon) Hienton. He lived in Lyndhurst until moving to Mantua in 1973. Mr. Hienton was a maintenance engineer at TRW Co. until he retired in 1972. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Lyndhurst Masonic Lodge, a 50-year member of Ancient Scottish Rite and a 32nd Degree Mason. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Yost), whom he married Feb. 14, 1934; son, Robert C. of Mantua; daughter, Alice Cannell of Richmond Heights; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters died previously. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 tonight and from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Friday at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 tonight. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Memorials may be made to charity.

Michael Bescoe, 23
BRADY LAKE - Michael K. Bescoe, 23, died Tuesday Oct. 6, 1998 in a motor vehicle accident in Franklin Township. Born Aug. 16, 1975 in Ravenna, he was the son of Kenneth and Joan (Wise) Bescoe. He had lived in Brady Lake his entire life. Mr. Bescoe was a plant operator for Hugo Sand Co. in Twin Lakes. He was a 1993 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent. He had played semi-professional football in Novi, Mich. In addition to his parents of Brady Lake, survivors include his sisters, Michelle Bradfield Dunns of Twinsburg, Becky Bradfield of North Canton and Andrea of Kent; grandparents, Bill and Joan Wise and Betty Bescoe, all of Ravenna. His grandfather, Homer Bescoe, died in February. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.today at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Deacon Russ Brode officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Mantua.

Herbert Moore, 81
CHARLESTOWN - Herbert J. Moore, 81, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998 at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna after a long illness. Born April 10, 1917 in Charlestown, he was the son of Camba and Edith (Phile) Moore. He was a lifetime resident of Charlestown and Ravenna. Mr. Moore was a self-employed truck driver until retiring in 1977. He had worked on the Moore family farm in Charlestown for much of his life. He was amember of Charlestown United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his daughter, Tonya (Charles) Bruckelmyer of Ravenna; six grandchildren; and sisters, Isobell Smith of Texas, Margaret Stenger of Georgia, and Kathleen Goodyear, Aradean Wolfenbarger and Treva Moore, all of Florida. His wife, Pauline, died in 1997. Four brothers died previously. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Charlestown Cemetery, with the Rev. Norma Bates officiating. Arrangements were made by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua. Memorials may be made to Charlestown United Methodist Church.

Delta Starcher, 92
STOW - Delta D. (Starcher) Case, 92, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998. Born July 29, 1906 in Glendon W.Va., she was the daughter of Jerry and Otie (Young) Starcher. She was a life resident of Glendon before moving to Stow six years ago. Mrs. Case had been a homemaker. She was a member of Elk River Baptist Church in Glendon. Survivors include her son, Jerry B. of San Antonio,Texas; daughters, Betty (Forrest) Hart of Ravenna, Jean McCormick of Akron and Geneva (Ray) Case of Lexington, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Herbert C., died in 1977. Her son, Lawrence, died in 1966 and her grandson, Daniel Thomas Hart, died in 1981. Three sisters also died previously. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roach Skidmore Funeral Home in Gassaway, W.Va. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery in Gassaway, W.Va.
