Robert Lee Lloyd
Robert Lee Lloyd, 66, of Ravenna Township, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Born Sept. 15, 1932, he was the son of Woodrow and Bernice (Case) Lloyd. He had lived in Ravenna Township since 1991. He formerly lived in Deerfield and Kent. Mr. Lloyd previously owned S & K Auto Salvage in Deerfield, Portage Cab of Kent, and the F & J Taxi of Ravenna. Most recently he was involved with I & L Garage in Ravenna Township. He was a former deputy with the Portage County Sheriff's Department. He had previously attended First Baptist Church of Atwater, and most recently attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Ravenna Township. He was devoted to his two pet dogs. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Kemble; sons, Brian L.and Robert Jr., both of Kent; daughter, Danielle R. Kemble of Edinburg; mother, Bernice Kerns of Ravenna; and former wife, Marilyn Lloyd of Kent. His father, Woodrow, and aunt, Beulah King, died previously. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene, 3284 Brady Lake Road, Ravenna Township, with the Rev. Dennis Ervin officiating. Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, is handling arrangements.

Louis Arone
Louis P. Arone, 77, of Akron, formerly of North Lincoln Avenue, Alliance, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Akron City Hospital. Born Sept. 19, 1921 in Ravenna, he was the son of Dominick and Mary (Mazzucca) Arone. He lived most of his life in the Alliance area. Mr. Arone was a laborer with the Pennsylvania Railroad. A U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 50 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1036. He was a former member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Alliance. Survivors include his daughters, Joanne of Newark, Del. and Lorain of Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren; and sister, Mrs. John (Rita) Benedict of Beloit, Ohio. His brother, Joseph, died previously. There will be no calling hours. Services were held Monday at Highland Memorial Park Chapel in Beloit. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. Arrangements were made by Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home in Alliance. Memorials may be made to charity.

Jean Jaken
Jean R. (Arnold) Jaken, 81, of Bainbridge, the mother of Deborah (Haleem) El-Dabh of Kent; died April 8, 1999 at Kent Center. Born Nov. 4, 1917 in East Liverpool, she was the daughter of Edward and Eva Arnold. She and her family lived in Bedford from 1950 until 1969, when they moved to Bainbridge. Mrs. Jaken attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Cleveland, graduating in 1938. She then returned to East Liverpool, where she worked as a nurse in the local hospital. While there, she joined the American Red Cross and in 1942, joined the U.S. Army Nursing Corps as a Second Lieutenant. She served in England and was discharged in 1945. Following the military, she continued her schooling at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing of Western Reserve University, earning her bachelor's degree in 1948. She did general duty nursing, and her career was put on hold when her daughter was born. She obtained a teaching certificate, and taught at St. Mary Elementary School in Beford and did some nursing at both Bedford Community Hospital and Highland View Hospital. In 1970, she was hired by the Cleveland Heights - University Heights School district, and soon became the district's supervisor of nursing. She retired in 1990. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harry J. of Bainbridge; daughter Deborah (Haleem) El-Dabh of Kent; one grandson; and a brother, Frank Arnold of Cleveland Heights. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St Mary Catholic Church 300 Union St. Bedford. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were handled by the St. John Funeral Home in Bedford.

David Rutherford
David C. Rutherford, 68, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, of Lou Gehrig's disease. Survivors include his sons, Dave (Kathy), Cliff (Denita), Danny (Kathy), Duane (Denise) and Kevin (Linda); daughters, Joyce (Ralph) LaRoche and Ann (Jeff) MacAdam; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and Joan McMahon. His wife, Finetta, to whom he was married 37 years, died previously. There will be no services. Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Ohio.

Gertrude E. Stewart
Gertrude E. Stewart, 97, of Salem, the mother of Mrs. Jack (Eleanor) Weiss of Kent, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at The Courtyard in Lexington, after a long illness. Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker. She attended Salem First Christian Church. She was active in various groups for many years at the church, and was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans. In addition to Mrs. Weiss, survivors include her Mrs. Dan (Elizabeth) Oldcorn of Salem; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Her husband, Wallace, died in 1973. Three brothers died previously. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 9 at Salem First Christian Church Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Austin officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral Home in Salem. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512.

Carl E. Kerr
Carl E. Kerr, 80, of Ravenna, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Arrangements are being handled by Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Leah Blankenship
WINDHAM - Leah Blankenship, 68, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren after a long illness. Born Nov. 14, 1930 in Verdunville, W.Va., she was the daughter of Mason and Belva (Dingess) Mullins. Survivors include her husband, Frederick D. "Freddie", to whom she was married 50 years; sons, David A. of Tallmadge, Frederick Jr. (Marianne) of Munroe Falls and Douglas of Windham; daughter, Deborah of Lakeworth, Fla.; and four grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Windham Cemetery, with Bill Eckman officiating. Arrangements were handled by Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Donald Toth
SHALERSVILLE - Donald J. Toth, 64, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, after a long illness from complications of diabetes. Born Oct. 25, 1934 in Cleveland, he lived in the Shalersville area for the 10 years and previously lived in Mantua for 30 years. Mr. Toth was a machine shop manager at Bird Electronic Corp. in Solon for 19 years until he retired in 1997. An avid woodworker, he also built homes in the Mantua-Shalersville area for many years with his father. He was a ham radio operator and was a member of the Portage County Amateur Radio Club, known by his call letters, "KB8YPK." Survivors include his wife, "Peg;" sons, William (Gail) of Ravenna, James (Jackie) of Newton Falls, Michael (Sue) of Warren and Dale (Sheena) of Strongsville; daughter, Patricia (Roy) Yarick of Ravenna; nine grandchildren; parents, Joseph and Congetta Toth of Mantua; brothers, Martin J. (Judy) of Garrettsville, Rev. David A. (Marion) of Lebanon; and sisters, Tina (Tim) Dye of Nelson and Rosemary Russin of Yuma, Ariz. A son, Raymond J. died in 1994. His mother, Mary, died previously. A brother, Anthony J., died in 1990, and a sister, Dorothy Hooper, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. David J. Toth officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville.

Zenobia Craig
ROOTSTOWN - Zenobia B. Craig, 91, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at the Altercare Nursing Home in Ravenna. Born Feb. 26, 1908 in Barnesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Edward and Sarah (Touvell) Brown. She was formerly of Reno, Nev., and had lived in Portage County for eight years. Mrs. Craig was a foster mother. Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Oberholtzer of Ravenna, Katie Craig of Vienna, Ohio, Nancy Osborne of Kent and Neva Brown of Trinway, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Bud in 1961; and sister, Isabel Hatfield in 1998, died previously. There will be no calling hours. A private family service has been held at Grandview Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev Carl Holm officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the activity fund at Altercare Nursing Home in Ravenna. Arrangements were handled by Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Marion Gibson
CHARLESTOWN - Marion P. Gibson, 61, died Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. She had multiple sclerosis. Born June 13, 1937 in Cranesville, W.Va., she was the daughter of Benjamin and Nellie (Metheney) Pysell. She had lived in Charlestown since 1973, moving there from Windham, where she had lived for 18 years. Mrs. Gibson was a press operator at Nymold in Garrettsville from 1961 to 1967. She was a member of the Family of Jesus Fellowship Church in Ravenna and had been a volunteer at the Hattie Larlham Foundation in Mantua. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, to whom she was married 43 years; son, Gary (Stephanie) of Eldorado, Ohio; daughters, Debra (Ross) Moore of Rootstown, and Kathy and Jennifer, both of Ravenna; and 11 grandchildren. Two brothers and five sisters died previously. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Family of Jesus Fellowship Church in Ravenna, with the Rev. Sam Goebel officiating. Arrangements by Shorts Funeral Home in Ravenna.

John Jakubisin
John "Jake" Jakubisin Jr., 57, of Arlington, Texas, died Friday, April 23, 1999 in Dallas. Born June 23, 1941 in Akron, he was the son of John and Margaret Jakubisin Sr. Mr. Jakubisin was a car salesman in Arlington. He was a member of the American Production Control Society. Survivors include his wife, Judy, to whom he had been married to for more than 36 years; sons, Eric (Maria) of Arlington, John Scott of North Richland Hills, Texas and Kevin of Arlington; two grandchildren; father, John Sr. of Mogadore; brothers, Charles of Mexico City, Mexico and David of Mogadore; and sister, Margie Kline of Ravenna. His daughter, Lori Lynn, and mother, Margaret, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Moore & Sons Funeral Home in Arlington where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Moore Memorial Gardens in Texas. Henrietta Robejsek
STREETSBORO - Henrietta "Hank" Robejsek, 86, of Maplewood Care Center of Streetsboro, died Saturday, April 24, 1999. Born June 12, 1912 in Cleveland, she was daughter of Yaro and Magdalene Belshand. Mrs. Robejsek worked as a secretary at Highland View Hospital and also at Warner & Swayse. She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Streetsboro. Survivors include her son, Jack (Pat) of Mentor; daughter, Jeri (Donald) Antwright of Streetsboro; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her three sisters died previously. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at St. John Funeral Home, 923 Broadway Ave., Bedford, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 9042 S.R. 43 in Streetsboro with the Rev. Denise Sager officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bedford. Arrangements were handled by the McGrath Funeral Service in Bedford.

H. Michelle Passmore
ROOTSTOWN - Hazel Michelle Passmore, 41, of Bassett Road, Rootstown, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna of natural causes. Born Nov. 25, 1957 in Akron, she was the daughter of Robert and Madolyn (Ault) Asher. Mrs. Passmore was a preschool teacher for Kids Only in Cuyahoga Falls. She was a member of Midway Lanes bowling league. Survivors include her husband, Doug; son, Andrew P.; sisters, Robin, Debbie and Janet; and in-laws, John and Ann Passmore of Wadsworth. Her parents died previously. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Kay Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron. Memorial donations may be made to Andrew P. Passmore Education Fund, c/o Doug Passmore.

Frank Hudacko, 94
AURORA - Frank G. Hudacko, 94, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Burton Health Care Center after a brief illness. Born Dec. 7, 1904 in Cleveland, he was the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Baron) Hudacko. He grew up in Cleveland and was a member of the Cleveland YMCA for many years. He was a resident of Aurora since 1969. Mr. Hudacko retired in 1968 from General Electric Co. in Cleveland where he was employed for 50 years as a grinder. He was an avid baseball fan and gardener, and enjoyed making homemade wine. Mr. Hudacko was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua. Survivors include eight nephews, seven nieces and several great-nephews and great-nieces. Calling hours will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua where services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland. Memorials may be made to a hospice of the donor's choice.

Cecil Wagner Jr.
Cecil Boyd Wagner Jr., 72, of Walton Street, Kent, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at the Kent Center. Born May 3, 1926 in Seward, Pa., he was the son of Cecil Boyd and Gertrude (Engler) Wagner. Mr. Wagner retired as chief engineer at Cleveland Cold Storage. He a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He also was a member of Kent American Legion Post 496 and was a life member of the VFW Post 3290 in Maple Heights. Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Snyder); sons, Daniel (Serena) of Independence and Barry (Nancy) of Twinsburg; daughters, Merry (Dave) Hinderschied of Aurora and Karen Wagner of Oakwood Village; step-sons, Thomas White of Raleigh, N.C., Randy (Dina) White of Kent and Blane (Lilli) White of Uniontown; step-daughter, Cindy (Phil) Sebring of Ravena, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and sisters, Sarah Carson of Ravenna and Eleanor Crites of Tallmadge. His sons, Cecil B. Wagner III and John Wagner; daughter, Sara Jane Miller; first wife, Esther (Wray) Wagner; and step-father, Ralph Skaburn, died previously. Mary (Shifra) Kelly, 79, of Newton Falls died Monday April 26, 1999, at Laurie-Ann Nursing Home in Newton Falls. Born Nov. 11, 1919 in Punxsutawney, Pa., she was the daughter of Paul and Barbara (Simko) Shifra. Mrs. Kelly was a supervisor for Western Union in Cleveland. She attended St. Michaels Byzantine Church in Newton Falls. Survivors include her brothers, Paul and Joe Shifra, and John Shafer; and sister, Helen Soho, all of Newton Falls. Her husband, John Kelly, and son, Robert, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls, where Panachida services will be held at 6:30 Wednesday. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michaels Byzantine Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland. Memorials may be made to the church or a favorite charity.

Donald Riffee
Donald L. Riffee, 60, of Lake Milton died Sunday April 25, 1999, at Cleveland Medical Center. Born April 14, 1939 in Boothsville Community, Taylor County, W.Va., he was the son of Thomas and Claudia (Dodd) Riffee. Mr. Riffee worked for 31 years at Anchor Motor Freight in Lordstown and previously worked at Simpsons in Bridgeport, W.Va. He was Protestant by faith. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Marylin (Franks) of Lake Milton; sons, Ronald (Wendy) Hayhurst of Fairmont W.Va., Donald Jr. (Terri) of Flat Rock, Mich., Scott (Mary) of Mineral Ridge; daughters, Debbie (Don) Friend of Fairmont, W.Va., Kimberly (Gilbert) Blazek of Lake Milton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Alberta Emery of Covina, Calif., Mary Kisner of Fairmont, Betty Cooper of Riverside, Calif., Arlene Herdon of Alto Loma, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Betty and Eloise, both of Fairmont. His brothers, Thorton and William, and sister, Sophronia, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, W. Va., where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Gary Kisner officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery in Taylor County, W. Va.

Helen Livingston
Helen Livingston, 68, of Ravenna, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at her home. Born July 16, 1930, in Norton, Va., she was the daughter of Barney and Cora Flanery. She had lived in Norton before moving to Ravenna four months ago. Survivors include her son, Jack (Pam) Wyatt of Ravenna; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. There will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held for the family in Tallmadge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Jack and Pam Wyatt, 410 King St., Ravenna 44266. Charity Squier
STOW - Charity Mae Squier, 101, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Stow-Glen Health Center. Born Jan. 20, 1898, in Shellsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Wilbur and Lillian Bortz. She was a member of St. John/St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and Navy Mothers. Survivors include her son, Richard of Randolph; daughter, Lois Haugh of Montgomery, Ala.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Calling hours will be held at Adams-Mason Memorial Chapel, 791 E. Market St., from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev Dick Williams officiating.
