Violet Weingart, 87
Violet B. Weingart, 87, formerly of Deerfield, died Thursday Sept. 30, 1999, at Crandal Medical Center in Sebring after a long illness.
Born Sept. 2, 1912, in Lloyd, she was the daughter of Thomas and Grace (Simpson) Stanley.
Mrs. Weingart was a cook in the Southeast school district for about 20 years until retiring in 1974.
She graduated from Deerfield High School. She was a member of Deerfield Friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Judi Yeager of Naperville, Ill.; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; brother, Thomas of Alliance; sisters, Barbara Carver of Sebring and Theeda Simeone of Niles. Her husband, Virgil, died May 13, 1996, and her daughter, Sandy Shively, died November 7, 1997, and her brothers, Ernie, Edward and Russell, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home, 126 W. Vermont Ave., Sebring, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Jodi Hill officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery.

William Kruger, 95
Services were held Friday for William R. Kruger, 95, of Cherry Street, Kent, who died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Kensington Care Center in Aurora.
Born May 6, 1904, he was the son of William F. and Amelia B. (Long) Kruger.
Mr. Kruger retired from the Erie Lackawana Railroad, where he was a master carpenter, after 48 years. He also raised and sold pumpkins in the fall.
Survivors include his grandson, Glen E. Jr. (Chris) of Kent and Kim (Virginia) of Kent; granddaughters, Kyna (Michael) Rose of Aurora, and Penny of Kent; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Pearl M. Shephard of Kent. His wife, Clarice C. (Chandler), died in 1987. His sons, Glen and Gary, died previously.
Services were held at the United Methodist Church of Aurora, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Arrangements were made by Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent.

Marjorie Hummel, 96
Marjorie (Troyer) Hummel, 96, sister of Tom Troyer of Stow and Loris Troyer of Kent, died Sept. 30, 1999, in Millersburg, Ohio.
The daughter of Albert and Jessie Troyer, she was born in Walnut Creek. She was a life resident of Holmes County.
Mrs. Hummel was a former teacher in the Walnut Creek schools.
In addition to her brothers, Tom and Loris, she is survived by her son, Hubert, and daughter, Joy, both of Holmes County; brother, Dey Troyer of Walnut Creek; sister, Nellie Hecker of Berlin; granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. Her husband, Ray, and a sister, Mellanie Arnold, died previously.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Walnut Creek United Church of Christ with calling hours one hour prior to the service.
Robert McKinney, 65
MOGADORE - Robert L. McKinney, 65, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, after a short illness.
Born July 8, 1934, in Akron, he was the son of Rufus and Margaret (Bond) McKinney. He was a life resident of the area.
Mr. McKinney retired from Goodyear in 1991 after 39 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol; son Craig (Karen) of Akron; daughters Pam (Rusty) Wise of Randolph and Cathy (Robert) Moses of Rootstown; two grandchildren; and sisters Sue (Roger) Ruman of Akron and Mary Gautschi of Uniontown.
Calling hours will be held one hour before the service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care Center.
Morris Kot, 85
Morris P. Kot, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Valley View Nursing Home in Akron.
He formerly lived in Cleveland.
Mr. Kot was a retired machinist from PESCO Inc.
He was a former member of PNA.
Survivors include his brother, Thomas F. (Doris); sister-in-law, Viola Wolocszyn; cousins, Halina and Joe Kolanski and Wanda Pavlic; and many nieces and nephews. His wife Nellie; and brothers, William and Leon died previously.
Services were held Thursday at the Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, with the Rev. Eugene Higgins officiating.
Rhonda Calhoun
Rhonda Lea Calhoun, 34, of Ravenna, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999 at Robinson Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Born July 5, 1965 in Ravenna, she was the daughter of Willard L. and Dolores I. (Peppeard) Brannen. Formerly of Pennsylvania, she had lived in Ravenna for three years.
Mrs. Calhoun was a computer operator at Farmex in Aurora.
Survivors include her husband, William "Billy" Calhoun; son, William Dwayne, at home; parents, Lee and Dee Brannen of Ravenna; brother, Michael of Rootstown; half-sister, Dawn Finch of Edinburg; and grandmother, Elva Brannen of Rootstown. Her brother, Willard Jr., died previously.

Archibald Kramer
STOW - Archibald C. Kramer, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999.
Born Sept. 20, 1910 in Cleveland, he was the son of William and Anna (Prohn) Strandt.
Mr. Kramerretired from General Motors in 1979 with 30 years of service.
He was a member of Ricksecker Masonic Lodge No. 606, James A. Garfield Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Aurora and Stow Sunshiners.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine, to whom he was married 51 years; sons, Edward (Roberta) of Cleveland and Ken of Cuyahoga Falls; daughter, Kathy (David) Trubisky of Canton; and two grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, where services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Alvin Boehlke officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted.

Sister Pauline Nixon
Sister Pauline Nixon, 66, the sister of Mary Jane Shoemaker of Ravenna, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999 at Villa Maria Community Center in Villa Maria, Pa.
Born Sept. 28, 1933 in Youngstown, she was the daughter of Paul and Mary (Kirby) Nixon.
She professed first vows in the Humilty of Mary order in 1958 and final vows in 1963. She formerly was known as Sister dePaul.
Sister Pauline ministered full-time as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain and at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. She later shifted her focus to the care of the Humility of Mary sisters in the congregation's infirmary, where she served as a registered nurse on a part-time basis for nine years. She continued her service at Villa Maria Community Center, performing secretarial tasks in several offices until 1991, when she left her active ministry to participate in the Ministry of Prayer during her extended illness.
In addition to Mrs. Shoemaker, survivors include a sister, Virginia Menster of Youngstown.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Villa Maria Chapel in Villa Maria, Pa.
Agnes V. Fields
ROOTSTOWN - Agnes V. Fields, 92, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999 at Altercare of Ravenna after a long illness.
Born July 28, 1907 in Vaughn Nicholas, W.Va., she was the daughter of Willie and Lydia (Jeffers) Jones.
Mrs. Fields was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple.
Survivors include her daughters, Orva Lee (Raymond) Isom of Akron, Marilyn (Carl) Molnar of Rootstown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Combs, Brooks Combs and Paul Combs; and sisters, Hester Valentine, Emogene Hall and Betty Starcher. Her brothers, Cecil Jones, Fred Jones and Dana Jones; and sister, Ruth Full, died previously.
Private services have been held. Burial was in Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown. Arrangements were made by Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.
Mary Tutolo
Mary Louise Tutolo, 77, of Kent, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Feb. 14, 1922 in East Cleveland, she was the daughter of Joseph L. and Emma M. Attanaro. She was formerly of South Euclid.
Survivors include her son, Donald R.of Cleveland; daughters, Kathleen Liuzzo of Willoughby Hills and Carol Pillsbury of Kent; and four grandchildren. Her husband, Carl A., died May 18, 1978. Her brother, Richard, died Feb. 6, 1999.
Private services will be held for the family. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
Rena Fouquet, 66
Rena I. Fouquet, 66, of Streetsboro, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Nov. 14, 1932 in Filbert Heights, Pa., she was the daughter of Albert and Rose (Schock) Bianchi. She had lived in Streetsboro for 37 years.
She retired in 1994 as a printer at Racin Leslie Graphics in Mantua. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro.
Survivors include her husband, Raoul J., whom she married in 1952; sons, Edouard of Florida and Maurice of Streetsboro; daughters, Michelle Stowe of Salt Lake City, Utah and Yvette Schilling of Twinsburg; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Werner Bianchi of Michigan; and sisters, Alberta Elish of Garfield Heights; Roselyn Sanders of Wisconsin; Beatrice Petersdorff of Wisconsin; and Marcella Burns of Jefferson, Ohio. A sister died previously.

Edna Robinson, 88
Former Ravenna resident Edna R. Robinson, 88, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999.
Born in Marietta, she was formerly of Ravenna and lived in Cuyahoga Falls for 17 years.
Mrs. Robinson was employed for more than 25 years by the Oak Rubber Co. in Ravenna, where she made balloons and toys. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and belonged to the Church in the Falls - A Church of Christ in Cuyahoga Falls.
Survivors include her son, Donald (Juanita) of Rootstown; daughters-in-law, Lucille of Kent and Ruth of Richfield; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Forrest Sr.; sons, Forrest (Woody) Jr. and Robert; and grandchildren, Tom and John Robinson, all died previously.

Frieda Forte, 97
Frieda L. Forte, 97, of Akron, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999.
Born Aug. 23, 1902 in Akron, she was the daughter of Herman and Anna (Burger) Fritsch.
Mrs. Forte was a homemaker most of her life and had worked for First National Bank and Consolidated Freightways.
She was a member of the First Grace United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include her son, Jerry (Judy) Forte of Ravenna; daughters, Eleanor (Jim) Bartoo of Akron and Louise Peterson of Ann Arbor, Mich.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Jerry, died in 1942. Her grandson, Tom Turner; brother, Robert; and sisters, Emma, Clara and Amelia also died previously.

Leora Nagel Howsare
STOW - Former Kent resident Leora Nagel Howsare, 91, of Stow, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999 at McCrea Manor in Alliance.
Born June 13, 1908, in Canton, she was the daughter of Homer H. and Myrtle (Wyman) Lautzenheiser. She had been a Kent-Brimfield resident since 1955 before moving to Stow-Glen Retirement Village.
Mrs. Howsare had been a teacher in Ohio schools for 31 years, including Stark County, Canton, Manchester and Tallmadge. She was also a teacher and a missionary in the Philippines, where she was interned as a prisoner of war for 30 months during the Japanese occupation. She was among those released in Manila in February 1945 by the U.S. Armed Forces. On her return to the United States in May 1945, she served as a promotional secretary for the Women's Division of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, now United Methodist, in the national offices in Dayton.
She was a graduate of Minerva High School, Kent State University in 1938 and also attended Ohio State University.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kent, the "On-a-Way" and the "De Weese" church school classes and the United Methodist Women.
She was a life member of the Ohio Education Association and a retired member of the National Education Association, as well as a member of Portage County and Ohio Retired Teachers. She was a member and past president of Business and Professional Women of Kent; American Association of University Women and its affiliated Book Review Group; member and past president of the Traveler's Club; former member and president of International Toastmistress Club, formerly Portage County Toastmasters Club; American Association of Retired Persons; Delta Kappa Gamma, Delta Omicron Chapter; Jennings Scholar 1966 to 1967; Brimfield Memorial House Association; Gold Star Wives of America; Kent State Alumni Association; and National Society of the Blind.
Her biography is included in the Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in American Education.
Survivors include her brother, Clyde Lautzenheiser of Minerva; sister-in-law, Evelyn Lautzenheiser of Oldsmar, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Her first husband, Rev. Edward Nagel, whom she married in 1937, died in 1945; second husband, Rev. James Howsare died in 1960; brother, Glenn Lautzenheiser died in 1990; and sisters, Viola Lamm and Pearl Locke both in 1998.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church of Kent, with the Revs. Kay Dunlap and David A. Palmer officiating. Private burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Brimfield.

Carl R. Chidester
Carl R. Chidester, 64, of Middlefield, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
Born March 17, 1935, in Confluence, Pa., he was the son of Carl C. and Martha (Hollada) Chidester. Formerly of Garrettsville, he had lived in Middlefield for the last three years.
Mr. Chidester worked in maintenance at OEM Miller/Sagar Plastics in Aurora.
He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Warren. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. (Elgin), whom he married April 24, 1953, in Ravenna; sons, Roy C. (Debra) of Hambden and Michael A. of Garrettsville; daughter, Linda S. (Frank) Book of Middlefield; one grandson; brother, Ronald C. of Jacksonville, Ark.; sisters, Betsy L. (Herb) Barnes of Seaford, Del., and Carol Hane of Warren.
There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place. A memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Russell Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield, Ohio, 44062.
Thelma M. Ayers
Thelma M. Ayers, 72, of Ravenna, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999.
Mrs. Ayers was born May 23, 1927, in Akron.
She had retired from General Electric.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Ravenna.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas P. (Jan Dana), Mark A. (Elizabeth) and Edward (Debbie); daughter, Cheryl Bensen; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Her husband, Thomas P., and daughter, Tammy, died previously.

Helen L. Skidlesky
Helen L. Skidlesky, 82, of Ravenna, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Nov. 8, 1917, in Ravenna, she was the daughter of Earl and Florence (Heckman) Willard. She had lived in Ravenna all her life.
Mrs. Skidlesky retired from Evenflo in Ravenna.
Survivors include her brothers, Charles Willard of Hendersonville, N. C., Earl R. Willard and Louis Webber; and sister, Janet Louise.
Private graveside services were held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. The Ravenna Chapel of the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Isabelle R. Swartz
ROOTSTOWN TWP. - Isabelle R. Swartz, 66, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born May 13, 1933, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Foster D. and Isabelle D. (Robbins) Jackson. Formerly of Shalersville, she lived in Rootstown Township the last 14 years.
Mrs. Swartz was a homemaker and gave private piano lessons. She had attended Baldwin Wallace College.
She was a member of the First Church of God in Ravenna, Women of the First Church of God and the Ravenna Garden Club.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde, whom she married Feb. 15, 1958; son, David C. of Rootstown; daughters, Linda (Lynn) Orr of Fredericksburg and Robin Swartz of Murphy, N.C.; four grandchildren; brothers, Richard Jackson of Wayne, Mich., and Alan Jackson of Valley City; and sister, Ruth A. Ross of Strongsville.

Fred Hluch
Memorial services for Fred Hluch of Rootstown who died Friday will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Chapel of Marlboro, 8700 S.R. 619 (Eidson Street), Marlboro Township, with the Revs. Joel Cochran and Harry DeLong officiating.
Mr. Hluch, 73, was born March 29, 1926, in Rootstown and was the son of Andrew and Kathryn (Rudko). He lived in Rootstown most of his life.
He was a self-employed construction worker and had been a school bus driver for Rootstown schools for 21 years.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Chapel in Marlboro.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Madeline (Runyeon); sons, Dale (Betsy) Rootstown and Jess (Karen) of Akron; daughter, Paula of Rootstown; six grandsons; sister, Anastazia Zahirsky of Rootstown; and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Joseph, died previously.
Following memorial services next Saturday, private graveside services will be held at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown. Arrangements are being handled by the Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.

Pauline L. Lewis, 81, of 2750 Drew Street, Park Place, Clearwater, Fla., a former Lake Milton resident, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999 at Palm Garden of Clearwater.
Born Sept. 26, 1917 in Piney Fork, Ohio, she was the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Lynch) Savic.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker.
She was a former member of Palmyra United Methodist Church and the Palmyra Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her sister, Julia Jones of Newton Falls; and niece, Mary Edwards of Ravenna. Her husband, Howard M., whom she married Dec. 14, 1937, died in 1996. A sister, Matilda Littell, died previously.
