Margaret Hagenbaugh, 63
TALLMADGE - Margaret A. Hagenbaugh, 63, formerly of Rootstown, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Akron City Hospital.
Born Oct. 27, 1936, in Pulaski, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late William and Bertha (Barclay) Briggs.
She was known for her love of flowers and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Jackson L. "Jack" Hagenbaugh; son, Steve (Vicki) Hagenbaugh; daughter, Sue (George) Johnson; sister, Shirley (Jim) Glenister; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road (at Gilchrist Road) where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Dr. George Hazlett officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.

Josephine Barnette, 61
Josephine Barnette, 61, of Ravenna, died May 13, 2000 at Akron General Medical Center.
Born March 1, 1939, in Blacky, Va., she was the daughter of William David and Ella Mae Blankenship. She attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Streetsboro and enjoyed singing.
Survivors include her husband, Carlin L., to whom she had been married for 24 years; sons, J.D. and Randy, both of Ravenna and Ricky Baldwin of Stow; daughters, Jeanie Kennedy of Brownsville, Va. and Deanna Price of Wintersville; brother, Dean Blankenship of Rootstown; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Calling hours will beheld from 7 to 9 today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bissler and Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kolmont Community Church in Mingo Junction with Pastor Sam Retzer and Pastor Simon Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Steubenville.

Lorraine Moore, 50
Lorraine Moore, 50, of Ravenna, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at her home of cancer.
Born April 23, 1950, in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of Arthur and Vera (Anderson) Dockery.
Formerly of Woonsocket, R.I., she was a Ravenna resident the past two-and-a-half years.
Mrs. Moore was a housewife.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Kent.
Survivors include her husband, Riley Moore, to whom she was married 33 years; son, Riley (Linda) Moore Jr. of Ravenna; daughters, Shannon (Ronald) Hutchins of Ravenna and Crystal (Curtis) Allen of Windham; seven grandchildren; mother, Vera Dockery of Pascoag, R.I.; brothers, Richard Dockery of New Hampshire and Arthur Pike of Rhode Island; sisters, Lillian Oswald of Tennessee and Linda Woods of Rhode Island.

Margeret Stemple, 73
STREETSBORO - Margaret K. Stemple, 73, died Saturday, May 13, at Maplewood Care Center.
Born June 23, 1926, in Terra Alta, W.Va., she was the daughter of Lawrence Messenger and Dorothy Poole. She had lived in Streetsboro since 1954.
Mrs. Stemple was a school secretary until retiring from Streetsboro City Schools in 1988.
She was a member of the Streetsboro United Methodist Church and Streetsboro Literary Club.
Survivors include her husband, Charles, whom she married Sept. 1, 1946; son, Kirk of Streetsboro; daughter, Zane of Las Vegas, Nev.; brothers, Jim Messenger of Columbus, Jerry Messenger of Jones Spring, W.Va.; and sisters, Anne Mohawk of Akron and Lois Williams of Jones Spring. Her sons, Matthew and Brook, and sister, Lorraine Harman, died previously.

Nancy Miller
Former Kent resident Nancy Q. Miller died May 7 in Corrales, N.M., following a long illness.
Survivors include her sisters, Irene (Bill) Lopez of Ravenna, Angeline Ray of Corrales and Florence (Tony) Messina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, J. Daniel Miller, died previously.

Josephine Barnette
Josephine Barnette, 61, of Ravenna, died May 13, 2000 at Akron General Medical Center.

Margaret C. Taylor
Margaret C. Taylor, 82, of Ravenna Township, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at her daughter's residence in Orrville of natural causes.
Born June 26, 1917, in Morgantown, W.Va., she was the daughter of C. Albert and Bessie F. (Klein) Thomas. She had lived in Ravenna Township since 1965.
Mrs. Taylor had been a switchboard operator and retired in 1979 from the Portage County Welfare Department.
She attended the Episcopal church.
Survivors include her son, Thomas A. of Colorado; daughter, Charlotte Shilling of Orrville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Glassetter of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Dorothy Lamb of Apollo, Pa. Her son, Sam, died in 1972.
There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Grandview Memorial Park Chapel in Ravenna, with the Rev. Carol Evans officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.
Lloyd Wilmington
Former Ravenna resident Lloyd Wilmington, 59, of Chicago, Ill., died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at Oakland Hospital in Oakland, Ill.
Born Oct. 9, 1940, in Grenada, Miss., he was the son of Oley and Ruth Wilmington. He had resided in Ravenna and Akron until moving to Chicago in October, 1999.
Mr. Wilmington worked on the assembly line at General Motors.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his daughter, Lori (Harrington) Wilmington-Fed of Georgia; mother, Ruth Wilmington of Holcomb, Miss.; brothers, Walter (Mamie) of Chicago and Russell of Ravenna.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will follow at noon, with the Rev. Andrew Wright officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
Donald L. Chalfant
DIAMOND - Donald L. Chalfant, 67, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a six-month illness from cancer.
Born Nov. 4, 1932, in Green Township, he was the son of Clair and Ethel (Davis) Chalfant. He was a lifetime resident of the Diamond area.
Mr. Chalfant was a truck mechanic for Service Transport in Edinburg.
He enjoyed crafts and automobiles.
Survivors include sons, Robert, of Diamond, and Donald; daughters, Nancy, of Diamond, and Michelle; three grandchildren; his mother, of North Jackson; and a brother, Gilbert E., of Canfield. His wife, Barbara (Mordew), whom he married in June of 1957, and a son, Gary, both died previously.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Borowski Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Burial will be in Palmyra West Cemetery.
Maxine M. "Mickey" Knight
Maxine M. "Mickey" Knight, 65, of Ravenna, died Monday, May 15, 2000 at Akron City Hospital after a short illness.
Born May 21, 1934, in Garrettsville, she was the daughter of John and Eleanore (Furgerson) Bennett. A graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School, she was a life resident of the Ravenna area.
Mrs. Knight worked for Montigney Hardware in Ravenna until it closed in 1996.
Survivors include her son, Gerald "Jerry" (Debbie) of Ravenna; daughters, Robin (Patrick) Thompson of Kent and Penny Hausch of Ravenna; six grandchildren; and sister, Barb (Wesley) Dodrill of Ravenna. Her husband, Charles "Oscar" Knight, died previously.

David "Dave" Howard Green
Services for David "Dave" Howard Green, the Kent business and civic leader who died Wednesday, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church of Kent where the Rev. Daniel Griggs will officiate.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent.
Mr. Green, who died at his home on Heather Circle Wednesday, after a long illness, was 75. An upbeat and friendly personality, who had the gift of easy laughter, he enjoyed a string of successes in a multi-faceted business career and played a major civic role in the community.
He was the owner and president of Hall Green Agency in Kent. In the 1970s, when most banks were locally owned and operated, he had succeeded the late Carl Meeker as president, CEO and chairman of the board of City Bank of Kent where he worked from 1966 to 1979. Prior to coming to the bank, he had worked in the accounting department of Lamb Electric from 1956 until 1966. He had also sold real estate for W.W. Reed and Sons in Kent for three years following the acquisition of City Bank by Ameritrust of Cleveland, which was later absorbed into KeyBank.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Green had served as a mortar gunner in the Philippines.
Born June 4, 1924, in Kent, the son of Leonard and Thelma (Welton) Green, Mr. Green was graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1942 and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Western Reserve University. He also attended National Mortgage School at Ohio State University in 1968 and attended the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in 1974. He also took continuing education courses in real estate and insurance.
Mr. Green believed it important to participate civically in the community. He was a member and past president of the Kent Kiwanis Club, a member and past president of the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Kent Welfare and Visiting Nurse Association, past president of the Twin Lakes One-Fund, former member and treasurer of the Kent Jaycees, co-chairman of the Community Relations Committee of Kent State University from 1977-1978, former member of the Franklin Board of Education from 1958-1959, former member and former president of the Kent City Board of Education and member of the Kentway Board of Trustees.
He was a board member of the United Christian Ministries, Elder Emeritus of the First Christian Church of Kent, where he was a member for 50 years, a founding member of the Kevin Coleman Foundation and its president from 1992 to 1993, former board member of the Kent State University Orchestra Society and past commodore and member of the Earlville Yacht Club.
For his community service, he was awarded both the Kent Medal for Public Service in 1994 and the Kevin Coleman Foundation Distinguished Service Award in 1996.
He also was a charter member of the Businessman's Physical Fitness Organization at KSU and a member of the Rockton Lodge No. 316 F. & A.M. He was an avid boater and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Joan (Spotts), whom he married May 15, 1993; daughters, Elizabeth Ann (David) Tait, of Tempe, Ariz. and Ruthann (Sidney) Freeman, of Kent; stepson, Gary (Lee) Bly of Avon Lake; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Bly, of Lakewood; six grandchildren; and a sister, Margery Finley, of Miller Place, New York. His first wife, Marjorie A. (Parmelee) died in 1991, and brother, Stephen, died in 1988.

Edward E. Lucas
Edward E. Lucas, 79, of Canton, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at his daughter's home in Kent.
Born in Fairmount, W. Va., he was the son of William C. and Wilda E. (Stottlemire) Lucas.
Mr. Lucas was retired from the Timken Company.
He was a member of the West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include son, Edward L. (Cindy) Lucas, of Alliance; daughters, Jill (Launie) Rhoads, of Kent, Pamela Smith, of Florida, and Ellen (John) Loudin of Shinston, W. Va.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His wife, Eileen, died in 1995. Two brothers and one sister also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Schneeberger Funeral Home in Canton, followed by funeral services at 8 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton.

WINDHAM - A memorial service for former Windham resident William J. "Bill" Bowser will be held at noon Saturday at the Congregational Church in Windham. Following the service, his ashes will be buried in the Windham Township Cemetery.
Elizabeth Hafner, 94
Elizabeth Hafner, 94, of Newton Falls, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Laurie Ann Nursing Home in Newton Falls.
Born June 22, 1905, in Bautzen, Hungary, she was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Riegu) Kremer. She previously lived in Diamond since 1932.
Mrs. Hafner was a member of the Palmyra Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Survivors include her son, Fred of Diamond; daughter, Elizabeth Ruppert of Bautzen, Germany; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Andrew, whom she married April 16, 1927, died Aug. 26, 1968. Her son, Andrew Jr., and brother, Peter Kremer, also died previously.

Ruby Davis, 75
MANTUA TOWNSHIP - Ruby J. Davis, 75, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at her home.
Born Oct. 14, 1924, in Lawrence County, Tenn., she was the daughter of Zeb and Mary Lou (Belew) Fincher.
Mrs. Davis was a mill operator and was retired from Erickson Tool in Solon. After retirement, she worked as a clerk for Haylett's Store in Mantua.
Survivors include three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank Fincher of Mantua Township and Lon Fincher of Rock Hill, S.C.; and sisters, Carmie Fincher of Mantua and Frances Colvert of Streetsboro. Her son, Eddie, died in 1988.
