Dr. Myron Owen, 87
Dr. Myron S. Owen of Ravenna touched many lives during his many years as a general practitioner in the Portage area.
Dr. Owen, 87, who died Tuesday, June 16, 1998 following a declining period of health, will be remembered for his role in helping establish a strong medical community during the area's period of growth in the 1940s and 1950s.
Born May 30, 1911 in Cleveland, he was the son of Homer and Josephine (Bishhop) Owen. Reared in the Portage area, he was a graduate of Paris Township School and Hiram College and earned his medical degree from Western Reserve Medical School in Cleveland. After interning in the Youngstown area, he returned to Portage County, where he established his medical practice.
"He was well respected in the medical community. He served his patients well," said Dr. Edward Webb, a colleague.
After retiring from his private practice, he worked at the Kent State University Health Center.
He was a member of the Edinburg United Church, where he sang in the choir and participated in the Second Mile class. He enjoyed music and gardening.
Survivors include his sons, Myron S. "Mickey" Jr. (Joan) of Ravenna and William Patrick (Kaelee) of Augusta Ga.; daughters, Josephine of Ravenna and Mary (Chris) Wieclaw of Canfield; four grandchildren; and brother, William B. of Bradenton, Fla. His wife, Grace (Patrick) Owen, died in 1990.
Private services will be held for the family. Arrangements were made by Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Rootstown Local School System Library or Edinburg United Church.
Jason Drumheller, 22
Jason Drumheller, 22, of Kent, died Monday, June 15, 1998, from injuries sustained in a automobile accident at S.R. 14 and Diagonal Road in Streetsboro.
Mr. Drumheller died after his automobile collided with a tractor-trailer. He died from injuries sustained in the accident, not from any prior medical collision, according to Streetsboro police.
Born Feb. 25, 1976, in Ravenna, he was the son of Mark and Susan (Dubinsky) Drumheller. He was a 1994 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, where he played baseball and golf.
Mr. Drumheller was employed by Bama Masonry in Burton.
He enjoyed car racing.
In addition to his parents of Kent, survivors include his brother, Eric of Kent; and grandparents Joseph and Sophie Dubinsky of Ravenna and Dorothy Drumheller of Colorado.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Kent Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
Memorials may be made to the Jason Drumheller Fund to benefit the Kent Roosevelt Golf Team in care of the Kent Credit Union.

Arthur S. Everhart
GARRETTSVILLE - Arthur S. Everhart, 78, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Cleveland Metro Hospital after being transported by Lifeflight following a car accident at S.R. 534 and Nelson-Mosier Road in Trumbull County.
His wife, the Rev. Esta Everhart, remains in stable condition at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born August 6, 1919 in Three Springs, Pa., he was the son of Arthur and Dell (Burkey) Everhart.
Mr. Everhart was employed in the finishing department at Republic Steel Co. in Warren for 32 years until he retired in 1972.
He was a member of New Hope Free Methodist Church, where he was an usher.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to Rev. Everhart, whom he married June 16, 1938, survivors include his sons, Nelson of Leavittsburg and Sheldon F. of Hartville; daughter, Wendy Sue Pena of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Rachel Hagans of Windham. His sister, Winifred Winters, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Jim Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Windham Township Cemetery.
Dolores L. Gorny
HIRAM - Dolores L. Gorny, 68, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at University Hospitals in Cleveland following a brief illness.
Services are being arranged by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.
Ruth Nelson
Ruth "Jody" Nelson, 64, of Ravenna, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 28, 1934 in Clarksburg, W.Va.
Mrs. Nelson worked as a bar maid for the Aces and Eights Lounge and New Milford Cafe.
Survivors include her sons, William (Rhonda) Calhoun and Johnny (Vicki) Nelson Jr., both of Ravenna; daughters, Judy Calhoun of Ravenna, Donna (Tom) Nelson of Garrettsville and Cora (Ron) Burner of Medina; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; father and stepmother, Elvin and Jean Devericks of Massillon; brothers, Don Devericks of Indiana, Gary Devericks of Massillon; and sister, Lillian Devericks of Massillon.
Cremation has taken place. The Cremation Society of Ohio handled the arrangements.
Verda Hutchison
A memorial service will be held for Verda (Douthitt) Hutchison, 94, at 2 p.m. June 20 at the Ravenna Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1011 W. Main St.
Mrs. Hutchison died in October in Fayetteville, Ark. Interment was delayed until this month, when her family will gather for its 105th reunion.
Born in Atwater, she lived most of her life in Ravenna.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Okey; son, Wayne of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter, Carla Kuesters of Rock Island, Ill.; sisters, Pauline Evans of Ravenna and Ruth Harris of Streetsboro; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. One grandchild died in 1989.
Memorials may be made to the Ravenna Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Pauline Mary Bernadine
Pauline Mary Bernadine, 77, of Harris Street, Kent, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Rittman Nursing Center in Rittman.
Born Jan. 28, 1919 in Kent, she was the daughter of Adam and Bertha (Serpanski) Grabowski.
Mrs. Bernadine was a member of St. Patrick Church in Kent.
Survivors include her sons, John R. of Wooster and Ronald J. and Richard D. of Kent; daughter, Cecelia A. Stover, and Annette S. Hersman and Patricia A., all of Kent and Connie M. Gaiser of Wooster; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Burger of Ravenna. Her brothers, Charles, Edward, Joe and William Grabowski, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church, with the Rev. Joseph Ruggieri officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
Maxwell H. Neidhart
Maxwell H. Neidhart, 85, of 324 S. Center St., Newton Falls, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 26, 1913, in Newton Falls, he was the son of Charles Alfred and Aline Marie (Schwartz) Neidhart. He was a life resident of Newton Fallse.
Mr. Neidhart was a self-employed insurance agent with Neidhart Insurance and Real Estate Agency for 46 years until he retired in 1997.
He was a 50-year member and past master of Newton Falls Masonic Lodge No. 462, a member of the Lions Club, Rotary, past president of the Newton Falls Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Newton Falls United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, golf, tennis, football and traveling.
Survivors include his wife Bertha "Billie" M. (Lane), whom he married Jan. 16, 1954; sons, Douglas of Tallmadge and John of Newton Falls; daughter, Aline (David) Anderson of Vermilion; stepdaughters, Jean (Robert) Kutchta of Yucapa, Calif. and Judy Smith of Dallas, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. His sister, Theresa Broadhurst, and brothers, James and Charles, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls, where a Masonic service will also be held at 6:45 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Newton Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Braceville Cemetery.
Dolores L. Gorny
HIRAM - Dolores L. Gorny, 68, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at University Hospitals in Cleveland after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 9, 1930, in Erie, Pa., she was the daughter of Henry and Tekla (Nigbor) Rudzinski. She also lived in Aurora for 17 years before moving to Hiram in 1985. She was a graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa.
Mrs. Gorny worked with the office staff of State Farm Insurance Agency in Aurora for several years. She also was a high school home economics teacher for many years in the Girard, Pa., school system.
She enjoyed baking, sewing, canning and reading.
Survivors include her husband, Norbert J.; daughters, Nancy (David) Brehm of Powell, Kathleen (David) Grumney of Medina and Judy (William) Schuhle of Euclid; and six grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. James Lang officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua.
Joseph C. Baglia, Sr.
Joseph C. Baglia, Sr., 67, of Akron, died Monday, June 15, 1998, at his home.
Born in Akron, he had lived in the Hiram and Akron areas most of his life.
Mr. Baglia was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; sons, Joseph Jr. (Catherine) of Jupiter, Fla. and David (Nancy) of Stow; daughters, Rosemarie of Houston, Texas and Donna Marie (Robert) Bolt of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren; and three sisters.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, in Stow, with the Rev. Arnold Fleagle officiating.
Walter Mayeros Jr.
Walter Mayeros Jr., 46, of Parkman, died at home Wednesday, June 17, 1998, after a long illness.
Born May 29, 1952, in Cleveland, he was the son of Walter Sr. and Helen (Evans) Mayeros.
Mr. Mayeros was a truck dispatcher with C & A Transportation in Walton Hills until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Parkman Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years and the Geauga County Fire Investigator Unit for seven years.
Survivors include his wife, Janie; son, David "Lucky" of Parkman; daughter, Hope Marie of Parkman; sister, Cindy of Garfield Heights; and one grandchild.
Calling hours will held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home in Garrettsville, where the Parkman Volunteer Fire Department will hold a service at 8:30 p.m. Friday, and funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. John Franklin Baugher
John Franklin Baugher, 79, of Tallmadge, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Akron City Hospital.
Born Oct. 20, 1918, in New Kensington, Pa., he was the son of Edward and Helen (Cunningham) Baugher. A graduate of East High School in Akron, he attended the University of Akron. He lived in Tallmadge for 51 years.
Mr. Baugher was a machinist at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., retiring in 1985 with 44 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II in Alaska.
He was an active member of the Ravenna Boat Club and a former member of the Tallmadge American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Jeanne (Read), to whom he was married 57 years; son John (Linda) of Stow; daughters Mrs. Robert (Janet) Kidney of Kent, Connie Baugher of California, and Mrs. Herbert (Barbara) Baker of Tallmadge; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Charles; and sisters, Mrs. Harry (Helen) Gray and Dorothy Orr. His son, James Read Baugher, died previously.

Herbert Langguth
ROOTSTOWN - Herbert A. Langguth, 82, died Thursday, June 18, 1998 at his home.
Born April 5, 1916 in Barberton, he was the son of William and Metta (Earnsberger) Langguth. A Rootstown resident for 27 years, he previously lived in Ravenna.
Mr. Langguth was a pattern maker for A.C. Williams Co. in Ravenna until he retired in 1978.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1055. He also was a member of First Congregational Church of Ravenna, Ravenna Elks Lodge No. 1076and the Ravenna Boat Club.
Survivors include his wife Gladys (Miller), whom he married 27 years ago; son Jon of Mansfield; daughter, Mollie O'Neal of Pasadena, Calif.; stepdaughter Linda Bobbs of Ravenna; four grandchildren; two great granchildren; and sisters Irene Miller of Apple Creek, Evelyn Krska of Doylestown, and Dorothy Nutter of Massilon. His son, Chris; stepson, Larry Cline, and one sister died previously.
An Elks service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, followed by visitation until services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jeffrey Frantz will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.
William Jebb
Former Ravenna resident William "Bill" H. Jebb, 77, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Sunday, May 10, 1998.
Born June 11, 1921 in Detroit, Mich., he lived in Ravenna from 1933 to 1942, before moving to Las Vegas.
Mr. Jebb was vice president of the Bank of Nevada until he retired.
He attended Youngstown State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his Navy service he began his banking career.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; sons, Wesley and Robert; daughters, Carrie and Holly, all of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society.
Dale Buckner
WINDHAM - Dale Allen Buckner, 24, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna following a short illness.
Born June 26, 1973 in Ravenna, he was the son of Dennis and Ruth (Drenski) Buckner. Formerly of Mantua, he had lived in Windham forfive years.
Mr. Buckner was an assembler for Step 2 in Streetsboro.
Survivors include his father, Dennis of Mantua; mother, Ruth Greenwood of Bedford; brother, Dennis J. of Mantua; and grandmother, Irene Buckner of Tennessee.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shorts Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel, with the Rev. Thomas McCarthy officiating. Private burial will take place.
Wellington McHenry
Wellington "Doc" McHenry, 79, a former Aurora resident, died Thursday, June 18, 1998 at Joel Pomerere Memorial Hospital in Millersburg. He had Alzheimer's Disease for eight years.
Born July 12, 1918 to Wellington F. and Persilla P. (Graves) McHenry, he had lived in Bowling Green, Ky. after leaving Aurora in 1979. He had been in a nursing home in Millersburg since 1990.
Mr. McHenry worked in Aurora for many years as a rubbish collector under the name of Doc's Disposal. He retired in 1977.
A World War II veteran, he was a member of Aurora Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2629.
Survivors include his son, James of Aurora; daughter, Ann Sprouse (Terry Wayne Sr.) of Aurora; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; half-brothers, George and Woodrow; and half-sisters Betty and Wilma Jean. His brother, Howard, half-brother, Dennis, and half-sister, Goldie, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 tonight and from noon until services at Saturday at Kindrich-McHugh Steinbauer Funeral Home, 33375 Bainbridge Road, Solon. Burial will be in Little Ellis, W.Va.
Ned Burgess
Ned E. Burgess, 72, of Silver Oaks Drive, Kent, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Jan. 4, 1926 in Angola, Ind., he was the son of Paul A. and Rose M. (Green) Burgess.
Mr. Burgess was retired manager of publications for Davey Compressor, where he worked from 1958 until 1990.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Rockton Masonic Lodge No. 316 in Kent.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Ward); sons Jeffery of Cincinnati and Gregory of Chicago; brothers, Wendell of North Canton and Keith of Streetsboro; and sister, Peggy Kranetsky of Newton Falls.
There will be no services. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Kristi Robenstine
Kristi L. Robenstine, 22, of Hartville, died of natural causes Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
Born April 29, 1976 in Canton, she was the daughter of Dewey and Linda (Thompson) Robenstine. She graduated from Marlington High School in 1995.
Miss Robenstine was a student at N.I.T.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Randolph. She also had volunteered at the Miller Nursing Home in Louisville.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her sister, Michelle (Patrick) Moore of Louisville; grandparents Tom and Lucille Thompson of Hartville and Nash D. Robenstine of Streetsboro; and great-grandmothers Alice Thompson of Ravenna and Elva Taylor of Kent. Her grandmother, Eileen Robenstine, died previously.

William Gay
SHALERSVILLE - William R. Gay, 40, died unexpectedly Friday, June 19, 1998, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna of an apparent heart attack.
Born July 17, 1957 in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Robert and Betty (Koch) Gay. A resident of the Shalersville area since 1991, Mr. Gay formerly lived in Charleston, S.C.
Mr. Gay was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Windham the past four years. Previously, he worked for the postal service in Akron.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Gulf War where he obtained the rank of staff sergeant.
Mr. Gay was a member of the American Legion Post #193 in Mantua. He was also a member of the Crestwood Lion's Club and Scout Master of Troup #570 of the Boy Scouts of America in Mantua. A member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church in Mantua, Mr. Gay also was active in the United Methodist Men's Club.
Mr. Gay enjoyed camping and playing the guitar. He enjoyed all types of music and was an avid sports fan. He made tooled leather products for his friends and family to have as gifts.
He was a 1976 graduate of Bedford High School.
Survivors include his wife Robin (Cooley) Gay whom he married Dec. 18, 1982; daughter, Erika, and son, Nathan, both of the home; and sisters, Marilynn (Ed) Hall of Dexter, Mich. and Roberta (Michael) Kaye of Elida.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Portage Faith United Methodist Church, 9922 S.R. 44, Mantua, with the Rev. Kate Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville with military honors.
