Marion A. Bell
Marion A. Bell, 84, of Ravenna died Friday Dec. 15, 2000, at home of natural causes.
Born Feb. 23, 1916, in New Milford, he was the son of Samuel A. and Ruth A. (Baldwin) Bell. He was a lifelong resident of Ravenna.
Mr. Bell was a tool and die maker at the Chrysler Corp. in Twinsburg until he retired in 1981. He also was an ambulance attendant and funeral assistant with Shorts Funeral Home.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church; a past president of the Ravenna Senior Citizens, the Ravenna Coraliers Choir, and a past president of the Society of the Blind.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his sons, Gary of Virginia, and Steve of Ravenna; daughters, Janet Hughes, Nancy Ervin and Cindy Ward, all of Ravenna; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and Grace Dietrich. His wife, Vivian, died in 1990; a son, John, died in 1979, and a brother, Norman, died in 1990.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Carol Evans officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Portage County Hospice or to Grace Episcopal Church.
Sadie A. Crabb
Sadie A. Crabb, 85, formerly of Marilyn Drive, Kent, died Monday Dec. 11, 2000, at Kateland Square Geriatric Center in Richland, Texas.
Born Sept. 2, 1915, in Somerset, Pa., she was the daughter of Norman and Ida (Bittner) Walter.
Mrs. Crabb retired as a clerk at the Kent State University Treasurer's Office.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Kent, the Kent Women's Club; Daughters of the American Revolution; and she volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Crabb of Missouri City, Texas; eight grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. Her husband William died in 1998; her son, Norman died in 1999, and her sister, Grace Shaulus also died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Patrick Russell officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.

Aundril Salisbury
Aundril "Keith" Salisbury, 64, of Kent died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Akron City Hospital after a long illness.
Born May 21, 1936, in Clay, W.Va., he was the son of Russell and Della (Triplett) Salisbury. He lived in Kent for more than 40 years.
Mr. Salisbury was employed by Revco Drug in Twinsburg.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Mitchell), to whom he was married 43 years; daughter, Diane "Susie" McKinney of Kent; a granddaughter; his mother and stepfather, Della and Autie Salisbury of Ravenna; brothers, Alfred (Sue) Blankenship of Frametown, W.Va. and Eddie (Mary) Blankenship of Ravenna; and sisters, Barb (Gene) Parsons of Boliva, S.C., Bonnie (Charlie) Ward of Elkview, W.Va., Iona (Jerry) Legg of Duck, W.Va., and Lizzie (John) Young of Bellevue. His father died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Kent Chapel (www.legacy.com), with services following at 11 a.m., with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery.
Mary Williams
Mary Rebecca (Hanes) Williams, 91, of Cuyahoga Falls died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000.
Born Nov. 3, 1909, in Upland, Ind., she lived most of her life in Twinsburg. She had lived in the Stow/Cuyahoga Falls area since 1983.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Stow Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. Her husband, Oris Williams; son, Larrel "Larry"; and brothers, Andrew and Donald Hanes, all died previously.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Redmon Funeral Home (www.legacy.com) in Stow where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Randall McClurg officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
Sara M. Adelman
Sara M. Adelman, 86, of Ravenna, died Thursday Dec. 21, 2000, at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna following three months of failing health.
Born Aug. 1, 1914, in Rockford,, Ill., she was the daughter of William and Margaret (Jacobs) Eckhoff. She lived in Randolph most of her life.
Mrs. Adelman retired in 1973 after seven years as a cook at Kent State University.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna, where she was active with the Young at Heart Club and Infant of Prague Guild. She was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Randolph.
Survivors include her sons, James (Linda) and John (Julie), both of Randolph, and Bill (Kathy) and George (Cleo), both of Rootstown; daughters, Betty (Clurel) Garrett of Livingston, Tenn., Anna Larkin of Glendale, Ariz., Lorenna (John) Chaney of Mayer, Ariz., Sarah (Clifford) Stackpole of Randolph and Rose Miller of Ravenna; 32 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren. Her husband, James, died in 1982. A daughter, Margaret, died in 1950.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel, where a wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Randolph, with the Rev. Edward Wieczorek officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
George F. Russell
George F. Russell, 82, of Ravenna died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
Born June 19, 1918 in Akron, he was the son of Anton and Ruth (Beardsley) Nielsen.
Mr. Russell was an auto worker with Chrysler in Twinsburg.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his daughters, Sherry of Ravenna and Gloria Burgess of Davidson, N.C.; four grandchildren; and brother, John of Plant City, Fla. His wife, Mary, died in August 2000. Two brothers died previously.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel (www.legacy.com). Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
Gladys Hahn, 65
STREETSBORO - Gladys R. Hahn, 65, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at the Portage County Nursing Home in Ravenna following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 30, 1934, in Camden-On-Gauley, W. Va., she was the daughter of Soloman and Sarah (Brown) Ramsey. She had been a resident of the Streetsboro and Shalersville areas for the past 40 years.
Mrs. Hahn was a homemaker and worked for several years as a cook for the Hattie Larlham Foundation. She also worked in the shiping department of Errikson Tool Company in Solon until 1978.
She enjoyed oil painting in her spare time.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas S. Hahn Sr.; sons, Paul Griffith of Chagrin Falls, Thomas S. Hahn Jr. of Columbus and Ronald Hahn and James (Judi) Hahn, both of Shalersville; daughter, Ruth Church of Mantua; nine grandchildren; brother, Elmer Ramsey of W. Va.; and sisters, Bess Nickolison of Kentucky and Glenda Ramsey of West Virginia.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be announced by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Billy Wendell, 72
Billy Lee Wendell, 72, of Ravenna, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born June 12, 1928 in Boncar, W. Va., he was the son of Charles Leroy Wendell and Thelma (Nichols) Baker.
Mr. Wendell had been a dispatcher for Superior Block Co. in Virginia until his retirement in 1990.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Boomer Baptist Church in West Virginia.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; daughters, Sherrie Natcher of Ravenna, Deborah Mallon of Nashville, Tenn. and Anita McAlister of Atlanta, Ga.; step-daughter, Johanna Moore of Ravenna; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held December 16 at the B.C. Hooper Funeral Home in Montgomery, W. Va., with the Rev. Coe of Boomer Baptist Church officiating. Burial is in Montgomery Memorial Park Cemetery in London, W. Va.
Dennis Roman, 53
Former Garrettsville resident Dennis P. Roman, 53, of South Russell Village, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, of an apparent heart attack.
Born March 27, 1947, in Garrettsville, he was the son of Felix and Florence Roman. He had lived in South Russell since 1980.
Mr. Roman had been a dental lab technician for the Broadlee Dental Lab in Southgate for many years. He also was a self-employed building contractor who specialized in remodeling homes. He and his wife were newspaper carriers, serving more than 400 subscribers in Pepper Pike for the past 16 years.
He was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Geauga County Humane Society, where he was an active volunteer. He was an avid fisherman and was past president of the Lake Louise Home Owners Association in South Russell.
Survivors include his wife, Louada (Schaefer); son, Michael; daughters, Laura Cowhard (Chris) Herring of Columbus, Beth Cowhard (Randy) Sisk of Randleman, N.C., Sharon Cowhard (Mark) Dente of Copley and Patricia Roman; four grandchildren; his mother, Florence; brother, Thomas; and sister, Cathy.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home, 95 S. Franklin St., Chagrin Falls, where services will be held at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Munn Cemetery in Newbury Township.
Janine Swope, 37
STREETSBORO - Janine M. Swope, 37, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna of natural causes.
Born Oct. 30, 1963, in Garfield Heights, she was the daughter of Edward and Roberta (Senkoski) Stomski. Formerly of Lyndhurst, she had lived in Streetsboro for the past seven years.
Mrs. Swope had been a customer service coach for Progressive Insurance in Mayfield Heights.
Survivors include her husband, James; son, James; parents Edward and Roberta Stomski of Mayfield Heights; brothers, Edward (Holly) Stomski Jr. of South Euclid and Daniel Stomski of Twinsburg; sisters, Paula Stomski of Lyndhurst and Mary Jane (Brian) Miller of Shaker Heights; and grandmother, Josephine Senkoski of Cleveland.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Shorts Funeral Homes, Streetsboro chapel (www.legacy.com). Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro with Msgr. Frederick Slaven officiating. A private burial will take place.
Casey Barcikoski
Services already have taken place for Casey Andrew Barcikoski of Burton who was stillborn Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
He was the son of Daniel A. and Katherine H. (Slattery) Barcikoski of Burton.
In addition to his parents, survivors include grandparents, Leonard and Joanne (Sczypta) Barcikoski of Troy Township and Mark and Elizabeth (Natten) Slattery of Claridon; great-grandfathers, Leo Barcikoski of Hiram and Peter Narten of Chagrin Falls; uncles, Lenny M. (Jenelyn) Barcikoski of Garrettsville and Matthew and Dan Slattery of Claridon; and aunt, Maureen Slattery of Claridon.
Services were held at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Garrettsville, with the Rev. Richard J. Pentello officiating. Burial was in Welton Cemetery, Burton. Arrangements were handled by Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, Garrettsville.
Frank Salaski, 79
PALMYRA - Frank N. Salaski, 79, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at his home, where he had lived with his brother, Joseph.
Born Oct. 15, 1921, in Akron, he was the son of John and Veronica (Partachik) Salaski. He had been a Palmyra resident for the past 20 years.
Mr. Salaski had worked as a supervisor for the General Motors Corporation in Michigan for most of his life until his retirement.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving for 18 months in the South Pacific on the aircraft carrier, USS Saratoga.
Survivors include his son, Steven of Michigan; daughters, Lori Peak and Sharon (Mike) Cubbin, both of Michigan; several grandchildren; brothers, Joseph of Palmyra and John (Bethene) of Alliance; abd sister, Mary K. (George) Hubbard of Palmyra.
Services were private. Burial was in West Cemetery in Palmyra. Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel handled arrangements.
Mary Ann Schuman, 59
Former Ravenna resident Mary Ann (Pahls Gless) Schuman, 59, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in Chico, Calif.
Born Aug. 14. 1941, she was the daughter of Anthony H. and Mary Catherine (Raik) Pahls.

Frank Maguire
Frank L. Maguire, 81, of Clinton Street in Ravenna, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
Born January 6, 1919, in Distant, Pa., he was the son of Speede Frye and Ethel (Cramer) McGuire.
Mr. Maguire was a truck driver for Horning Building Supply Co. in Kent.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Kent American Legion and a past commander of the Kent Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of the Ravenna Elks.
Survivors include his sons, John R. (Wanda)of Ravenna and Chuck B. Maguire of Windham; daughter, Karen L. (Ken Tippel) Johnson of Akron; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. His wife, Evelyn B. (Mathews), died in 1981.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent, with the Rev. Edward P. Peterson officiating. Arrangements were made by Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent.
Joseph P. Bozic
AURORA - Joseph P. Bozic, 89, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, after being injured in a traffic accident on S.R. 44 in Ravenna Township.
Born June 13, 1911, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of John and Anna (Bukovec) Bozic. He had been a resident of the Aurora-Mantua areas since 1946.
Mr. Bozic and his wife, Mary, operated Bozic's Auto Service, a Standard Oil service station in Aurora from 1942 until he retired in 1969.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed gardening and yardwork at his home and played the button box accordian in his spare time for family and friends.
Survivors include his son, Joseph A. (Nancy) of Aurora; daughters, JoAnn (Robert) Timme of Eastlake, Joyce (Robert) Schellhammer of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, John and Frank, both of Washington; and sisters, Martha Leslie of California, Mary Jane Davis of Maryland, Betty DeFiore of Lyken, Pa., Margaret Piekul of Timberlake,Ohio, and Alice Keane of New Jersey. His wife, Mary, whom he married May 15, 1937, died Dec. 1, 1998. A son, John died previously.

Anna Soltis
HIRAM - Anna (Dolny) Soltis, 92, died Friday at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
Born Aug. 26, 1908, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Martin and Katherine (Polomsky) Dolny.
Mrs. Soltis was a salesperson at major department stores in the Cleveland area.
She had been a member of St. Ambrose Church in Garrettsville, St. Ambrose Altar & Rosary Society, the Eagles Club and Hiram Lunch Bunch.
Survivors include her son, John A. (Joy) of North Carolina; daughters, Mrs. John (Evelyn) Vatovec of Independence, Mrs. Charles (Bernadine) Putka of Mantua; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marcella Balcik of Massillon, Lillian Polgar of Auburn Center and Dorothy Sarnecki of Cleveland. Her husband, John J., whom she married June 29, 1926, died July 17, 1974.

Garth V. Tinkcom
Garth V. "Tink" Tinkcom, 81, of Ravenna, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at his home after a period of failing health.
Born Feb. 19, 1919, in Akron, he was the son of James J. and Rose (Dunlap) Tinkcom. A former Akron resident, he had lived in Ravenna since 1981.
Mr. Tinkcom was a millwright at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Akron for 35 years before retiring in 1983.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force.
He was an avid boater and enjoyed bowling, as well as playing the Wurlitzer organ.
Survivors include his son, Larry; daughter, Becky; one grandchild; sister, Adair Welsh of California; and companion, "Sis" Arnett. His wife, Leah R., died in 1979.
Visitation will held from noon until services at Wednesday at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Mantua.
Delphene Ann Reigle
ROOTSTOWN - Delphene Ann Reigle (O'Neal), 59, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at her home following a four year battle with cancer.
Born April 2, 1941, in Canton, she was the daughter of Kenneth, Sr. and Helen O'Neal.
Mrs. Reigle was a former employee of JoAnn Fabrics in Hudson.
She was a talented and skilled woodworker, blessing many through the years with her exceptional arts and crafts. She was a member of The Chapel of Marlboro in Marlboro Township, where she commited years to teaching Good News clubs. She had a loving dedication to children.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, William A. Reigle; 21 foster-children; her parents of Hartville; brothers, Kenneth (Marilyn) O'Neal, Jr. of Grayton, Ill., Joseph (Kay) O'Neal of Farmington, N.M., Mickey (Cheryl) O'Neal of Randolph; and sisters, Dolores (James) Robinson of Rootstown, Ruthie (Thomas) Rauber of Mogadore.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Arnold's Funeral Home in Hartville and at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Chapel of Marlboro. Services will follow Saturday calling hours at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harry DeLong and Rev. Dan Michaels officiating.

Louis V. Simone
Louis V. Simone, 79, of Beryl Drive, Kent, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 1, 1921, in Cleveland, he was the son of Joseph and Bambina (Barketa) Simone.
Mr. Simone owned and operated his State Farm insurance agency in Bedford Heights for 38 years.
He was U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Kent, Kent State University Alumni Association, 82nd Airborne Division Association, Cleveland chapter, and Delta Phi Sigma Alumni & Friends.
Survivors include his wife Peg B. (Bailey); son, Paul (Kelly) of Ravenna; stepson, Dr. Eric (Carol) Davis of Rochester, N.Y.; daughters,, Donna Simone of Seattle, Wash. and Laura Simone of Kent; stepdaughter, Amy Davis of Columbus; two grandchildren; sisters Madeline Bucalo of Chardon, Mary Milano of Chesterland, and Annette Victor of Kirtland. His first wife, Donna (Neeley) Simone, one brother and three sisters died previously.
Calling hours will be held 3 to 7 p.m. at the Simone home, 431 Beryl Drive, Kent. There will be no services. Arrangements were made by Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent.
