Donna M. Lemasters
Donna M. Lemasters, 32, of Fowler, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, in Cleveland following a lengthy illness.
Born June 24, 1968, in Warren, she was the daughter of Jerry and Joyce (Bower) Drain. Formerly of Newton Falls, she had lived in Fowler the past four years.
Mrs. Lemasters had been employed as a home health aid at Cleveland Clinic Home Care for three years.
She was a majorette instructor for the Tri-County Home Steppers and a 1987 graduate of Windham High School. She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include her husband, Scott Lemasters, whom she married on June 25, 1994, and brother, Robert Drain of Akron. Her father died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Newton Falls.
Kathryn Mary Adams
Kathryn Mary Adams, 86, of Leetonia died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Essex I in Salem.
Born April 14, 1914, in Leetonia, she was the daughter of Terry B. and Jessie I. (Huffnagle) Whitacre. She had lived in Ravenna for 40 years before returning to Leetonia in November 1999.
Mrs. Adams had attended Fairfield Centralized School in Columbiana. During World War II, she worked at a copper mill in Lisbon. Later, she was a housekeeper.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ravenna and more recently attended the Lake Mount Church of Christ in New Waterford.
She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 2164 in Ravenna.
Survivors include her son, James Montgomery of Buffalo, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and brothers, Conrad T. Whitacre of Salem and Daren Z. Whitacre of Leetonia. Her daughter, Mary Kathryn (Montgomery) Lee, and sister, Mildred (Whitacre) Westover, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Vernon White officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.

Arthur J. Robitaille
Arthur J. Robitaille, 69, of Twinsburg died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Hospice House in Cleveland.
Mr. Robitaille was the police chief of Aurora for 22 years until he retired in 1980.
He was president of Corporate Security Co., a private security firm in Twinsburg, and owned the former Art's Collectibles at Aurora Farms. He also was president of the Fraternal Order of Police Associates and the Portage County Police Chiefs Association.
He was a member of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Association of Chiefs, the Akron-area Chiefs and the Continuing Education Board of Kent State University.
Survivors include his wife, Elzire "Ellie" (Quesnelle); sons, Mark of Twinsburg, John of Cuyahoga Falls and Roy (Becky) of Streetsboro; three grandchildren; brother, Robert of Canada; and sister, Marcia Watts of Huntsburg. A son, Andrew, died previously.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, at S.R. 91 and Post Road in Twinsburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Aurora Cemetery.

Doris R. (Holzmer) Sawyer
WILLOUGHBY HILLS - Doris R. (Holzmer) Sawyer, 66, of Willoughby Hills died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland after an outpatient procedure.
Born July 1, 1934, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Matthew and Myrtle (Dickerson) Holzmer. She had lived in Euclid for 31 years before moving to Willoughby Hills 11 years ago.
Mrs. Sawyer was a teacher with the Euclid school system for 22 years until she retired in 1995.
She graduated from Euclid Senior High School in 1952. In 1956, she received a bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University, where she was active in Alpha Chi Omega and the Newman Club. She was an active alumnus.
She enjoyed card playing, bible study, being in a book club, walking, girl scouting and traveling, most recently to Ireland and Italy.
Survivors include her husband, Charles "Ben" Sawyer, to whom she was married 42 years; son, Matthew (Dawn Bliss) of Willoughby; daughters, Kathleen of Euclid, Elizabeth (Jeff) Gerl of Concord Township and Megan (Edward) Begala of Poland, Ohio; six grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou (Albert) Then of Willowick and Joan Holzmer of Mayfield Heights; brothers-in-law, Jim (Claudia) Sawyer of Stow, Donald (Barbara) Sawyer of Berea, and Bill (Florence) Sawyer, Dick Sawyer, Clyde (Jane) Bradfield and Mike (Mitzie) Lenzo, all of Kent; and sister-in-law, Agnes Sawyer of Conneaut. Her parents died previously.

Richard "Rick" L. Linger Jr.
Richard "Rick" L. Linger Jr., 36, of Ravenna Township died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, after a traffic accident on S.R. 43 in Brimfield.
Born May 22, 1964, in Cuyahoga Falls, he was the son of Richard L. and Edna (Reed) Linger Sr. He had lived in Ravenna Township all his life.
Mr. Linger was self-employed with D&L Tree Service in Ravenna Township. He was a member of the Ravenna Assembly of God Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Jenny (Venditti) Linger, to whom he was married three years; daughters, Patricia and Heather Linger; parents, Richard and Edna Linger Sr. of Ravenna; and sisters, Janet (Wilburn) Marstiller of Ravenna and Darlene (Tom) K'Meyer of Ravenna.

PALMYRA - Alice R. Livezey, 95, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.

Frank Newton Stanton
Frank Newton Stanton, 85, died Feb. 10, 2001, at his home in Apache Junction, Ariz., of a heart attack.
Born Jan. 29, 1916, in Streetsboro, he was the son of Wallace Newton and Florence (Weed) Stanton. A 1933 graduate of Streetsboro High School, he lived in Mentor before moving to Arizona in 1963.
Mr. Stanton was a retired machinist.
He was a Mason. He enjoyed working on old cars and was a member of Sun Country Model T Club in Phoenix.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on the destroyer escort ship the A.J. Luke in the Mediterranean.
Survivors include his wife Charlene; sons, John (Denice) of El Paso, Texas, and Don (Laree) of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Marguerite Heritage of Ravenna. His sisters, Mary Caroline and Esther (Stanton) Rose, died previously.
Memorial services were held in Arizona. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro at a later date.
Vida Brookover, 77
FREEDOM TOWNSHIP - Vida Brookover, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna following a period of failing health.
Born, Sept. 23, 1923, in Hiram, she was the daughter of Jesse and Theresa (Betow) Moore. She was an lifetime area resident, living in Freedom Township since 1951.
Mrs. Brookover worked with her husband in their farm and dairy business, serving as the business book keeper. She was also a homemaker.
She was a former treasurer and 18-year member of the Garfield Band Boosters, a member of the Portage County Farm Bureau, "Dirt Daubers" advisory Council, as well as formerly holding several offices of the Freedom PTA. She was a member of the Hiram Christian Church, an avid reader, piano and organ player and she enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas, "General Hospital" and "Port Charles".
Survivors include her sons, Dale (Cyndi) of Hiram and Gary (Amy) of Freedom; daughters, Beverly (Paul) Puleo and Maxine (Steve) Flint, both of Freedom, Nancy (John) Webster of Lakewood, Sally (Tim) Benner of Mantua; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beula (Dick) Delfs of Mentor. Her husband, Robert R. "Bob" Brookover, whom she married on Aug. 15, 1945, died Jan. 6, 2000. A brother, Vernon Moore also died previously.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hiram Christian Church with the Revs. Thomas Niccolls, Fred Bell and Robert Bowen officiating.

George Keith Fox
George Keith Fox, 79, of Cherry Street, Kent, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at his home.
Born Nov. 16, 1921, in Cleveland, he was the son of George and Helen (Smith) Fox.
Mr. Fox retired as a truck driver from Shantz Trucking in Akron.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 345th Infantry Division and earned two Bronze stars and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Kent Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Joan L. (Mandalin), whom he married in 1979; daughters, Susan of Akron and Jo Ellen of Akron; stepdaughters, Marsha Wise of Akron and Joyce Morris of Akron; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Wilbur of North Ridgeville; and mother-in-law, Margaret Mandalin of Stow. His daughter, Darla, died previously.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, with the Rev. David Palmer officiating.
R. Dale Daniels
ROOTSTOWN - R. Dale Daniels, 73, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home.
Born Jan. 18, 1928, in Cuyahoga Falls, he was the son of Paul and Verna (Sneyd) Daniels.
Mr. Daniels was the founder and owner of Brimfield Insurance Agency until he retired in June 1991. After his retirement, he operated Kop-Out Charters in Port Clinton.
He was a member of Rockton Masonic Lodge No. 316 in Kent; Kent Chapter No. 192, Royal Arch Masons; Olive ChapterNo. 53 Order of the Eastern Star; and the Tadmor Temple Shrine. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 496 in Kent.
He was an avid boater and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen (Warman), to whom he was married 52 years; son, Glen E. (Denise) of Suffield; daughter, Daleen Faulkner of Florida; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. His daughter, Laura Lee, died Aug. 10, 1966. His brother, Glen, and sister, JoAnn, died previously.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Kent Chapel, where a Masonic service will be held at 10:45 a.m. and a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. the David Mathus officiating.

John J. Kasman, Jr.
John J. Kasman, Jr., 79, of Ravenna Township, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Aug. 20, 1921, in Oakgrove, W.Va., he was the son of John Sr. and Francis (Pila) Kasman. He had been a Ravenna resident since 1971.
Mr. Kasman retired from Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg, where he had worked in machine repair.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie (Mike) Deel of Kent; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Ann Gluisch of Wheeling, W.Va. His wife, Ruth J., died Dec. 22, 1999. Two brothers and one sister died previously.

Georgianna M. Weiss
SHALERSVILLE - Georgianna M. Weiss, 97, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001 at her home following a short illness.
Born May 13, 1903 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of George and Anna (McKenney) Hemstreet. She had lived in Ashtabula County for many years before moving to Shalersville in 1997.
She owned and operated George's Restaurant in Jefferson, Ohio, from the 1940s to the late 1950s and also operated the concession stands at the Bloomfield, Damascus and Pymatuning sale barns. She was known for her homemade pies that she sold at the restaurant and the sale barns, often making more than 300 pies each week.
She also was a seamstress for her family and friends and made wedding dresses while working from her residence in Ashtabula County.
Survivors include her sons Thomas (Michele) Migchelbrink of Toledo and Jerry (Jean) Migchelbrink of Bedford, Texas; daughters, Sharon (Barry) Humberson of Ravenna and Georgianna (Bob) Belles of Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours or services. Private burial will take place. Arrangements are being handled by Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.
Charles E. "Gene" Rusk
DEERFIELD - Charles E. "Gene" Rusk, 70, of S.R. 225, died Monday Jan. 22, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a long illness.
Born Sept. 17, 1930, in Coshocton, he was a son of Max H. and Anna Marie (Holder) Rusk.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Rusk worked as an electronic engineer for ABB in Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Darline (Yelvington), to whom he was married 46 years; daughters, Darla (Bob) Peabody of Cuyahoga Falls, Gail (Matt) Louis of Warren and Paula (Ben) Neff of Diamond; four grandchildren; and sister, Maxine Thompson of Sun City, Ariz. Two sisters died previously.

Clarence Edward Williams
Clarence Edward Williams, 75, of Ravenna died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after a brief illness.
Born Dec. 8, 1925, in Powellton, W. Va., he was the son of Albert and Opal (Beltcher) Williams. He had lived in this area for 45 years.
Mr. Williams was retired from the A.C. Williams Foundry in Ravenna.
Survivors include his wife, Lavada (Yeary), to whom he was married 45 years; daughters, Brenda Duncan of Ravenna and Dianna (Chris) Heiney of Sterling, Ohio; stepson, David Yeary of Ravenna; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert, Charlie and Billy Joe, all of Ravenna; and sisters, Virginia Nichols of West Virginia, Ruth Ann Dickson of North Carolina, and Emogene Lovejoy and Betty Harvey, both of Ravenna. A sister, Nancy Christian, died previously.

Robert L. "Bob" Cain
Robert L. "Bob" Cain, 71, of 514 Prospect St., Bucyrus, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Heartland of Bucyrus.
Born March 6, 1929, in Cadiz, Ohio, he was the son of the late Jessie and Lillian (Cummins) Cain. He was a 1946 graduate of Atwater High School and attended Bohecker Business College. He moved to Bucyrus in 1989.
Mr. Cain worked for General Motors in Lordstown and then from 1974 worked as a maintenance supervisor at Volkswagen in New Scranton, Pa. He retired in 1988. and then worked at Fischer Hardware Store in Bucyrus.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 181, Amvets No. 27, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8999 in Bucyrus. He also was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Bucyrus and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Bucyrus.
He was also a licensed pilot.
Survivors include his wife, Bruna, whom he married May 8, 1976; sons, David of Hartville, Robert Jr. of Clarington, and Tim of Batesville, Miss.; daughters, Becky Thompson of Randolph, and Charlotte Goetz of Las Vegas, Nev.;stepdaughters, Pauline Geithmann of Morrisdale, Pa., Anna Fitz of Bucyrus, Rosie Kilpatrick of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Charlene Warren of Bucyrus; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 10 stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and sisters, Alice Blitz of Rootstown, Peggy Lawrence of Paris and Mary Esther Bash of Bucyrus.

Guy M. Boling
Guy M. Boling, 40, of Gaffney, S.C. and formerly of Twinsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center of an apparent heart attack.
Born Aug. 4, 1960, in Akron, he was the son of Jesse and Patricia (Cargould) Boling. He lived in Twinsburg from 1970 to 1981 and graduated from Chamberlin High School in Twinsburg in 1978. He had lived in South Carolina since 1989.
Mr. Boling was a supervisor for the Crowder Construction Company in Charlotte, N.C.
He attended Kent State University for two years.
He was an avid Indians and Browns fan and also enjoyed the outdoors and raising golden retrievers and collies.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl (Miner), whom he married May 28, 1989; daughters, Samantha J. and Victoria L., both at home; mother and stepfather, Patricia and Ed Kocevar of Mantua; father and stepmother, Jesse and Shirley Boling of Twinsburg; brother, Mark (Patty) Boling of Boynton Beach, Fla.; sister, Sherri (Khim) Standen of Stow; grandparents, Allan and Kathryn Cargould of Peninsula; and lifelong friend, Tim Weeks of Aurora.

Wilbur Watkins
Wilbur Watkins, 81, of Ravenna, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at his home.
Born June 15, 1919, in Deerfield, he was the son of Edmund and Ruth (Woodard) Watkins. He was a lifelong Ravenna resident.
Mr. Watkins was the owner-operator of Watkins Barber Shop in Ravenna.
He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his son, Roger (Judy) of Rootstown, daughter, Peggy (James) Richardson of Doylestown; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Helen Jaros of Deerfield and Frances Wilkinson of North Canton. His wife, Mary, died previously.
Visitation will be held at noon Monday, followed by services at 1 p.m. at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. The Rev. Carol Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.

John Labant
John Labant, 89, of Ravenna died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at his home.
Born March 11, 1911, in Smock, Pa., he had lived in Ravenna since 1974.
Mr. Labant was retired from TRW in Cleveland where he worked as a steelmaker. He also was a coal miner for 20 years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna.
His wife, Hedda, died in 1996. His sister, Mary Gunderson, also died previously.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services were held today at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ravenna. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Shorts Funeral Home in Ravenna.
