Ruth E. Dietzel Hahn
STUART, Fla. -- Ruth E. Dietzel Hahn, 65, of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio, and Stuart, Fla., died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach, Fla.
A native of Fostoria, she was a winter resident of Stuart, Fla. She was a substitute teacher in northeast Ohio schools and directed church choirs and community choruses in communities where her husband served churches. She was a member and leader in United Methodist Women, a member of the Wesleyan Bell Choir, the Celebration Choir, A Stephen Minister, the co-leader of XYZ (55+ group), Heart to Heart partner, pre-service pianist, a Volunteer in Prayer, accompanist for the pre-school vespers, a choir director for Ontario UMC.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Rev. Bob Hahn of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio, and Stuart, Fla.; sons, Mark Hahn of Lakewood, Tim Hahn of Cleveland, Andy Hahn of Westlake, and Fernando Tricta Jr. of Toronto, Canada; daughter, Anna Beddow of England; brother, Rev. David E. Dietzel of Fort Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Second at Adams, in Port Clinton; and at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church on State Road in Parma. Melvin T. Hales
Melvin T. Hales, 80, passed away June 1, 1998, at Akron City Hospital.
Mr. Hales was a member of Church of the Master United Methodist Church, and had worked for A.R.A. as director of food services in the Dover Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; sons, Lloy of Arizona, Merideth (Yahna) of Canton; daughter, Judy (David) of North Canton; 12 grandchildren; and sister, Thelma Foura of Elyria, Ohio.

Bill Jack Halloway
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S. C. -- Bill Jack Halloway, 66, of Belle Drive, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Pardee, Va., a son of the late Fred and Gladys Gibson Halloway. Mr. Halloway retired from the East Ohio Gas Co. in Akron, prior to moving to North Myrtle Beach in 1987. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Halloway of North Myrtle Beach, S. C.; sons, Paul Halloway of Ft. Myers, Fla., Bill J. Halloway Jr. of North Myrtle Beach, S. C., and Leon Halloway of Pawleys Island, S. C.; daughters, Jackie Kaisk and Melinda Halloway, both of North Myrtle Beach, S. UNIONTOWN -- Elizabeth M. Hargrave, born Oct. 10, 1906, passed away June 11, 1998, at Altercare of Hartville.
Born in Jeffersonville, Ind., she lived in the Akron area 38 years. Mrs. Hargrave retired from Sanford Rose and Associates in 1974, where she was their top female counselor.
Preceded in death by her parents, and beloved husband, James F. Hargrave, she is survived by daughter, Sandra McCarter of North Carolina; grandchildren, Diana (Steven) Pursley of Uniontown, Kimbra (Richard) Fulcher of North Carolina, and Steven (Sharon) Robinson of Calif.; and her most precious gifts, her great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Matthew Pursley, and Trevor and Erin Fulcher. She also leaves sister, Martha; and brother, Jack, who reside in Florida.

SHARON CENTER -- Bertha M. Hathaway (nee First), 76, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 30, 1998.
Mrs. Hathaway was born in Barberton and resided in Sharon Center 42 years. She was a baker for Highland School District, retiring in 1982, and an active member of the Loyal Oak Community Chapel.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Hathaway is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Carolyn of Wadsworth, Virgil ``Bud'' Jr. and Cherie of Marietta, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Gary Buckholdt of Doylestown; daughter-in-law, Joann of Akron; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Virgil ``Bud'' Sr.; son, Bruce; granddaughter, Sheila; grandson, David; brother, Eldred First; sisters, Daisy Garn and Bonnie Blough.

Jack R. Hefner, 61, went home to be with the Lord on June 1, at the Hospice Care Center, after a four-year battle with cancer.
He was employed by Manitowoc Crane Sales for 23 years. He was a member of the Portage Lakes Masonic Lodge 752 and The Chapel. He was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy Hefner; and sister, Jean Skeen. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughters, Lori Hughes of Wadsworth, Lynn (James) Hall of Garfield Heights, Teri (Rey) Ruidiaz of Marco Island, Fla.; son, Jon R. Eugene F. Hintz Sr.
Eugene F. Hintz Sr., 68, of North Canton, died Monday afternoon, June 8, 1998, at his residence, after a lengthy illness.
Born to Floyd and Elizabeth (Armour) Hintz on April 26, 1930, in Massillon, he lived in the Massillon/North Canton area all of his life. He worked at Burroughs Corp. as a senior field engineer for 28 years, retiring in 1982. Eugene served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Singing Sergeants of U. S. Air Force, and the Cleveland Messiah Chorus.
Preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Floyd Hintz Jr., he is survived by wife, Marsha Hintz of North Canton; sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene F. (Susan) Hintz Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., Steven E. Hintz of Fountain, Colo., Daniel F. Hintz of Cleveland, and Scott W. (Kim) Hintz of Roy, Wash.; daughters, Mrs. Nancy Hintz (Dale) Fuchs of Nashville, Tenn., and Marie E. Hintz of Akron; brother, Donald Hintz of New Smyrna, Fla.; and grandchildren, Steven Fuchs, and Adam, Michele, and Kasara Hintz.

Richard S. Hood
Richard S. Hood, 82, died June 8, 1998.
He was an area resident all his life, and served in the Army during World War II. He retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in 1979 after 46 years service.
His memberships included the Firestone Park United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School, Mobile Meals, and Firestone Park A.A.R.P., and he was an umpire with the Summit Umpires Association. Richard was very proud of his many Masonic affiliations. He was a charter member and Past Master of Ernest F. Schaefer Lodge 739 F&AM, Past Commander of Bethany Commandery 72 Knights Templar, Past High Priest of Akron/Washington Chapter 25, Past Illustrious Master of Akron Council 209, Ohio Priory--K.Y.C.H., Shannon Council, Knight Masons of Ireland. He sang in the chorus of Yusef Khan Grotto, was a member of Tadmor Temple AAONMS, past president of Fairlawn Shrine Club, Firestone Square Club, and a member of Shrine Crusaders Unit.
Preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1993, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and David Heaberlin of Rittman, Cheryl and John Pauline of Millersville, Md., Barbara and Terry Achberger of Lisbon, Ohio; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and special relatives, Phil and Cathy Hawkins, Carol and Jame Mitchner, and Eileen and Scott Mintier.

She died at the age of 41, due to complications from leukemia, on June 10, 1998, at the Cleveland Clinic.

Gerald C. Huhn Sr. (Knute), 77, of Akron, died suddenly June 1, 1998, in Greensburg, Pa.
Gerry was a life resident of Akron and retired from Goodyear Tire in 1975 after 30 years service. Gerald was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, the D.A.V. Stadelman Chapter 35, the U.R.W. Local 2, the Goodyear 25-Year Club, and the Ohio and Summit County Genealogy Society.

BARBERTON -- Worley E. Hurst Jr., 73, died June 9, 1998.
He was a life resident of Barberton, retired from PPG Industries after 40 1/2 years of service, and was a member of the Barberton First Church of Christ for 38 years.
He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy; parents, Worley and Ethel; and brother, Richard. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Bill Huber, Joy and Bob Quinlan; grandchildren, Jamie and Nathan Saylor, Connie Huber Weidleman, and Mike Huber; great-grandchildren, Erika, Bethany, Casey, Jamie Saylor Jr., and Heather and Melinda Weidleman; sister, Frances Davis; and brothers, Lester, Louis, and Daniel.

Herman L. ``Chub'' Huth
Herman L. ``Chub'' Huth, 76, of Randolph, died Sunday at his home, following a long illness.
Preceded in death by brothers, Sylvan, Harold, and Freddie; and sisters, Helen and Marie, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie (Wirbel); sons, Bernard (Sherie) Huth of Paris Township and Gerald (Cathy) Huth of North Olmsted; daughter, Elaine (Thomas) Yarolin of Edinburg; 11 grandchildren; sister, Edith Engelhart of Randolph; and brother, Claude Huth of Randolph.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Randolph. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. John J. Hyde Sr.
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- John J. Hyde Sr., 85, passed away June 12, 1998.
Mr. Hyde was born in Cuyahoga Falls and resided there his entire life. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1932, and worked as a lab technician for the B. F. Goodrich Co., retiring May 1, 1975 with 43 years of service. He also managed Hale Bowling Lanes in the '50s and '60s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Cuyahoga Falls Council 2362, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and was secretary of the Union of Poles Group 11. He was an avid bowler, golfer, and loved gardening and a sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by son, John J. Hyde Jr.; and grandson, John (Jay) Hyde, and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Stella; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Vic Giannini of Akron, and Maribeth and Ted Williams of Cuyahoga Falls; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Veronica (Walter) Wolf of Cuyahoga Falls, Helen Tratnyek of El Cajon, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
