Born in Akron, she retired from Akron City Hospital, and was a member of the Mogadore United Methodist Church.

John F. ``Jack'' Alderfer
WADSWORTH -- John F. ``Jack'' Alderfer, 83, died Friday, February 27, 1998, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Sharon Center, Mr. Alderfer resided in Wadsworth since 1930, where he was a 1932 graduate of Wadsworth High School. He was a process engineer for the Ohio Injector Co. & Conflo, retiring in 1981 with 45 years service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 2070, Wadsworth F.O.E. 2117, and an avid golfer.
Mr. Alderfer is survived by wife, Eileen (nee Doyle); daughters, Betty (Mrs. Harold) Ruppel of Wadsworth, Nancy (Mrs. Ted) Payn of W. Salem; son and daughter-in-law, George and Lorna of Export, Pa.; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Bonness of Ft. Myers, Fla. He was preceded in death by children, Janice, Marie, Thomas Michael and John Franklin and brother, George.

She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and resided in Akron most of her adult life. She was a retired bookkeeper from the former Summit Lumber Co.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Robert Pugh of Akron; son, and daughter-in-law, Larry and Juanita Miller of Akron; stepdaughter, Betty and James McAlarney of Cuyahoga Falls; sister, Dorothy Palmer of Arizona; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest E. Allen; daughter, Alberta Davidson.

George Raymond Ashton, Sr.
MARYLAND -- George Raymond Ashton, Sr., 83, of Salisbury, Md., formerly of Akron, passed away March 7, 1998, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., he graduated from Cornell University in Ithica, N.Y., in 1935 with a degree in engineering. He worked at Goodyear Aerospace for 25 years and Goodyear Tire & Rubber in Akron for seven years as a mechanical engineer, retiring in 1979.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank Raymond Ashton and Mary Cooper Ashton, he is survived by his wife, Doris E. Ashton of Salisbury; sons, G. Raymond Jr. of Sarasota, Fla., Jeffrey S. of Parsippany, N.J., and Timothy W. of Boston, Mass.; stepdaughter, Pamela L. Johnson of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Badgett was born in Parkersburg, W. Va., and, prior to his retirement, had been employed as a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways for 27 years. He was a member of Retired Teamsters Local 24.

Ronald Lee Bates, 56, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Akron, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998.
Mr. Bates was born in Akron on Dec. 15, 1941, and spent most of his life in Akron, moving to Houston, Texas, in 1996. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marines, serving for six years. Mr. Bates was a mechanic for Carolina Freight Co.

Dorothy Margaret Borden, 83, passed away March 10, 1998.
Mrs. Borden was born in Chicago, Ill., on Dec. 10, 1914. A member of St. Francis DeSales Church, Mrs. Borden was the owner and operator of Borden Short Stop for 19 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Borden Sr.; and great-granddaughter, Kelly Marie Porter. Gilbert W. Boyes, 87, a resident of College Park for two years, passed away Saturday, March 7, 1998.
He was born in Akron on March 30, 1910, a son of the late William and Mary (Hawkins) Boyes. He had worked as a clerk at Sears in Akron and was a member of the Central Christian Church and Bethlehem Grange, both in Coshocton.
He is survived by his wife, Wilda I. Boyes; daughter, Margaret Rollins of Coshocton; grandchildren, Debbie Burris, James Rollins, and Shelley Lillibridge; great-grandchildren, Austin Burris, Andrea Stewart, Andrianne Rollins, and Blake Lillibridge; and brother, Walter Boyes of Akron. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Loudell McLaney Boyes
ALABAMA -- Loudell Boyes passed away in Montgomery, Ala., on March 1, after a long illness.
Born in Fitzpatrick Ala., she spent most of her life in Akron until her retirement, at which time she and her husband, John, moved to the Montgomery, Ala., area. Loudell graduated from Central High School and Akron University, and received her master's degree in history from Western Reserve University. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was a history teacher at Akron Garfield High School for her entire working career. After her retirement to Alabama, she was active in the League of Women Voters, Alpha Gamma Delta Alumni Association, and a volunteer at the Montgomery Museum of Art.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, J. Robert McLaney and Jennie Thomas McLaney, and is survived by her husband, John; sister, Sarah Wood of Akron; nephews, Col. Russell Barker of Holliston, Mass., Thomas Harvey Barker of Albuquerque, N. M., and Ronald Wood of Bellefontaine, Ohio; three grandnieces, three grandnephews. Loudell will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and former students.
She will be buried at Mt. Hilliard Cemetery in Post Oak, Ala. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Isabelle A. (Wells) Branchik died Monday, March 2, 1998, at Manor Care of Barberton.
She was born in Elkins, W. Va. She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 35 years of service. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Goodyear 25-Year Club, Goodyear Wingfoot Girls, Firestone Park Prime Timers, Goodyear Retirees Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary 37th Division. She was an avid seamstress and at crafts, and she taught sewing.
She was preceded in death by husband of 39 years, John; son, Howard Wells; sister, Virginia Gainer; and brother, Paul Smith. She is survived by son, Gilbert (Linda) Wells of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Eilene (Ronald) Stulik of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patricia Hauser of Tallmadge; sister, Irene Hall of Akron; 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Nolan E. Bridwell
Nolan Bridwell, 34 years, of Green, died February 26, 1998.
Born in Tampa, Fla., he was an area resident for eight years, and was a certified nurse aide at Pebble Creek Care Center.
Survivors include his mother, Hazel MacCallister Campbell of Hopkins, S.C., sister, Myra Streeter of Columbia, S.C., two nephews and one niece.

Kathryn S. Browning
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Kathryn S. Browning, 92, died March 8, 1998.
Mrs. Browning was born in Akron and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1942, moving there from Akron. She had taught piano out of her home, and had been an organist at St. John's Episcopal Church.
Preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Earl, she is survived by her son, Frederick G. of Cuyahoga Falls; son and daughter-in-law, Peter A. and Donna of N. Carolina; grandchildren, Kara, Paul and Rebecca Browning, and Michele, Jacqueline, and Eric Browning.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, where a funeral service will be conducted at 12 NOON Wednesday, Rev. Vicki Smith officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery.

Kenneth D. Bucher (Buddy)
Kenneth D. Bucher (Buddy), 59, of Akron, is in the arms of his precious Lord, Monday, March 2, 1998. ``To be asbent from the body is to be present with the Lord.''
Mr. Bucher was born in Akron on Oct. 12, 1938. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict, and retired from MacTac on Oct. 13, 1995. He was a deacon at Riverside Christian Missionary Alliance Church (He prayed for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God, our Savior, who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. I Tim. 2:3 & 4).
He leaves his loved ones in the Lord's hands, his wife, Yvonne; son, Christopher Bucher; his daughters, Rene Graham and Denise Stewart; eight loving grandchildren, Rieanna, David, Marrissa, Michael, Nichole, Jimmy, Heather, and Sommer. He also leaves his mother and father, Kenneth and Sylvia Vance; brother, John Bucher; sisters, Loretta Smith and Caroline Knotts, and Darlene Arnes; and many nieces and nephews. He goes before us to be with his Lord.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 7, 1998, at 10 a.m., at the Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, with Rev. Andrew Berry officiating. Frederick E. Buddenhagen
Frederick E. Buddenhagen, 80, of Londonderry, N. H., died March 15, 1998, in Sarasota, Fla.
Mr. Buddenhagen was born in Sidney, N. Y., on March 23, 1917, and was a graduate of Colgate University in 1937 with a B. S. in physics. His career was spent in the tire industry and in the 1940s he worked for Firestone Rubber Co., developing tires for war use. He later became vice president of Armstrong Rubber Co. and lived in North Haven, Conn., where he was a member of the New Haven Country Club. In 1965 he joined BF Goodrich as technical director of international research and development, and retired in 1982. While living in Fairlawn Heights, he was a charter member of Hudson Country Club. Mr. Buddenhagen was also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Akron Rubber Group.
He is survived by his wife, Florence (Schaap) Buddenhagen; sons, Frederick L. Buddenhagen and Paul S. Buddenhagen; his daughter, Carolyn B. Littlefield; and four grandchildren.
Private funeral services were held Wednesday, March 18, 1998.

Mary Jane Bush (nee Hubler)
Mary Jane Bush (nee Hubler), 71 years, passed away March 13, 1998.
Formerly of Akron, she retired from Firestone.
Preceded in death by husband, Ellsworth Lee Bush, she is survived by son, Jeffrey (Peggy); granddaughters, Samantha and Tara; sister, Edna of Avon Lake, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 17 at the Holloway Funeral Home in Oldsmar, Fla.
James A. ``Jim'' Butler
James A. ``Jim'' Butler, 55, of Lawton, died Wednesday following a sudden illness.
Born November 29, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, to William T. and Lillian O. (Rose) Butler, he grew up in Akron and graduated from Garfield High School in 1960, and attended Akron University. He married Nita Paonessa on October 19, 1963, in Akron. He was hired at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Akron, Ohio, on February 14, 1966, and remained at the Akron plant as a supervisor/shift foreman for 12 years. He moved to Lawton in February of 1978 where he was an integral part of the Goodyear-Lawton Plant Startup. Since then, Jim used his expertise and knowledge in various areas of the plant to include, Business Center Manager, Auditor and Safety Manager. Since March 3, 1972, Mr. Butler had achieved 26 years of perfect attendance. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1056 and the Lawton Country Club Golf Association. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; his parents, of Tallmadge, Ohio; sons, John T. Butler of Dallas, Texas, and Joe W. Butler of Lawton, Okla.; daughter, Jennifer M. Butler of Lawton, Okla.

Buynak (Stephanie); great-grandmother of Katie, Jenney, David, Erin; dear sister of Betty Ambro and the late Steve Ondercin and Michael Ondercin; sister-in-law of Ruth Ondercin and Ethel Ondercin.
