Kee Cantrell
Kee Cantrell, 75, passed away March 2, 1998.
Born in Polk County, Tenn., he had lived in Akron for 45 years. Mr. Cantrell retired from Goodyear Aerospace after 33 years of service, was a member of Joppa Lodge 666 F&AM, and a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of Akron. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Headquarters Company, 3rd Batallion, 133rd Infantry, 34th Division in Italy during World War II.
Preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, in 1990, he is survived by daughter, Sue Lingel of Akron; grandchildren, Jeff and Melissa Lingel, and Kim and Greg Dornack, all of Akron; great-granddaughter, Hannah Keelyn Lingel; brother, J. R. Williams of Buford, Ga.; sisters, Margaret Hughes of Maryville, Tenn., Millie Edwards of Tellico Plains, Tenn.; and many relatives and friends.

Gladys G. Carter, 75, went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 1998, after a long illness.
Born in Distant, Pa., she lived in the Akron area for 73 years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Julius, in 1981, she is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Norm) Sherrill, Kathy (John) Pierson, and Kimberly (David) Doyle, all of Akron; grandchildren, Julie and Rochelle Monk; brother, Arnold (Ruth) Moore of Akron; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Joseph Carter, 74, died March 15, 1998.
He was an Akron resident and worked in construction for many years.

Nell E. Chandler
Nell E. Chandler, 89, passed away March 2, 1998.
Mrs. Chandler was born in Punxsutawney, Pa., on March 6, 1908. She had been a seamstress for Barberton Citizens Hospital.
Preceded in death by her husband, John B. Chandler; daughter, Martha K. Bacon; son-in-law, Randolph A. Bacon; and brother, Jess Straitiff, she is survived by her grandson, David Bacon of Akron; granddaughters, Barbara Bacon of Akron, Janet Bacon of Bristol, Maine, and Kathryn Bacon of Brecksville; great-granddaughter, Tina Walters of Oakland, Calif.; nephew, Kenneth Straitiff; and niece, June Shiffler.

John Willard Chapin
GRAHAM, N. C. -- John Willard Chapin, 93, passed away March 6, 1998, at his home in Graham, N. C., after an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 2, 1905, in Akron, the son of the late Charles Ezra and Mary Ann Edwards Chapin. As a young man, he attended Akron University and worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He began bowling during his lunch hour at the Goodyear Club House across the street from his office and soon became proficient using a ``house ball.'' Years later he was known as ``The Old Man of the Maples'' and was considered one of the best area bowlers of his day. This culminated in his being elected to the Tri-County Bowling Hall of Fame that included the area of Akron, Canton, Massillon, and Barberton. He was a life member of the Joppa Lodge 666 of the Masonic Order and received his 55-year pin in 1995. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. At his passing he was a member of First Methodist Church of Graham, N. C.
Other notable accomplishments include the following: he was secretary of the Akron Men's City League, at the time one of the largest bowling leagues in the world; he was recognized as the man who started the Youth Bowling Program in the Akron area; he was given the authority, by the bowlers of the area, to be their spokesman in trying to clean up the image of the bowling centers to make them a place you could take your family, and in this he was very successful; he was chief inspector of the All-American Soap Box Derby for several years during the 1950s; he was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Board for Parks and Recreation commissioned by the mayor to renovate the city's entire recreation system; he was on the church board for several years in the '60s; he was commissioned by the mayor and the school board to locate football and basketball coaches for Cuyahoga Falls.Since moving to the Graham and Burlington, N. C., area, he has belonged to the Alamance County Seniors Golf League. At the end of his membership, about 1992, he was its oldest playing member. In his nineties, he bowled in a senior league at CCL 1 and averaged 143. He won a Tourney High Game of over 250. He also helped in three ``Strike Out Family Abuse'' campaigns.
His passing will be celebrated with a private memorial service at his residence in Graham the afternoon of March 13 at 4:30.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Violet M. Chapin; son, Jack L. Chapin; two grandsons, and two great-granddaughters.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to Hospice of Alamance/Caswell, P.O. Box 2212, Burlington, N. C. 27216-2122.

John Lowell Clarke
John Lowell Clarke, 64, passed away March 14, 1998.
He was born in Akron, Ohio and was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a graduate of Kenmore High School in 1951, served in the United States Army, and worked for the Crawford Bindery Co.
He is survived by brother, Harold Clarke of Sarasota, Fla., and sister, Gloria Wagner of Lady Lake, Fla.

SARDIS, OHIO--Mary L. Clark, 57, of 48695 Benwood Road, Sardis, Ohio died Saturday, March 28, 1998 in the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W. Va.
She was born September 22, 1940 in Summit County, Ohio, a daughter of Mary Jones Schlitz and the late Martin Schlitz. She was a rural letter carrier for the Sardis Post Office and a Protestant by faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Schlitz; and one sister, Martha Hillard. She is survived by husband, Charles J. Clark; four sons, Kelly Clark of Beech Bottom, W. Va.; Paul Clark of Clarington, Ohio; James Clark of Atwater, Ohio; Joseph Clark of Fly, Ohio; her mother, Mary Jones Schlitz of Stow; two sisters, Molly Flack of Copper Center, Alaska, and Marcie Litci of Stow; 10 grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rush Funeral Home, 37234 Mound St., Sardis, Ohio, Monday, 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald Morgan in charge. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery, Sardis, Ohio.
Eloise R. Coher (nee Reeves)
BARBERTON -- Eloise R. Coher (nee Reeves), 74, died March 9, 1998, at Barberton Citizens Hospital.
She was born in Barberton, where she was a life resident. Eloise was employed by Gerald Baughman as an accountant. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Eloise made mittens for Cartie's Kids, and was a most loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by brothers, James and Thomas Reeves. She is survived by daughters, Donna Starr of Barberton, Rosanne (Joseph) Hirschfelt of Akron; son, Thomas (Martha) Coher of Akron; grandchildren, Rebecca, Dennis, Christina, David, Cody, and Lance; great-grandchildren, Austin, Cierra, Dennis, and Branden; brothers, Col. Donald (Mary) Reeves of Eaton, Ohio, and Gerald (Rosemary) Reeves of Doylestown.

Robert E. Combs
MOGADORE -- Robert E. Combs, 70, passed away March 2, 1998, after a battle with lung cancer.
Born in Vincennes, Ind., on Jan. 26, 1928, he was the son of Walter B. and Clara Johnson Combs. Bob worked in the automobile battery business all of his working years, and was battery engineer for Goodyear for 13 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and was a member of American Legion Post 73 in Vincennes.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rita; sons, Bruce (Joyce) of Stow, Brent (Janet) of Canal Fulton, and Bryan (Dee) of Snellville, Ga.; grandchildren, Angela, Bryan, Craig, Brandon, Brittany, Bryant, Lindsay, and Shannon; brothers, Ray and Tom, both of Vincennes, Ind., and Don of Dayton; and sisters, Ethel Small, Edith Wissel, and Mary Francis Swan, all of Vincennes, Ind., and Maxine Schwaber of Westfield, Mass.

Richard A. Conrad
WADSWORTH/BARBERTON -- Richard A. Conrad, 71, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Marion General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Wadsworth, Mr. Conrad resided in Marion 18 years, previously residing in Barberton. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II and a welder at B&W, retiring in 1975 with 30 years service. Mr. Conrad was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marion and formerly St. Andrew's and Sacred Heart Catholic churches. He enjoyed camping and fishing.
Mr. Conrad is survived by his wife, Marie (nee Gigandet) to whom he was married 50 years; daughter and son-in-law, Shereen ``Sherry'' and Tim Krendick of Kenmore; daughter, Judith Wolford of Wooster; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Thomas and Tiona of Indianapolis, Ind., Richard and Diane of Stevensville, Mich., Kevin and Pam of Iberia; son, Frank of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Kay of Iberia; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and mother, Hazel of Wadsworth. He was preceded in death by son, Charles; father, Charles; brothers, William and Franklin; sisters, Esther Cottingham and Betty Burgey Benson.

William A. Crabb
William A. Crabb, 86, of Marilyn Drive, Kent, died Friday at Kateland Square Nursing Center in Richmond, Texas.
He was born February 23, 1912, in Kent to Harvey and Mary (nee Mindeck) Crabb. He retired as a foreman at Lamb Electric after 43 years. He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Kent; Kent Garden Club; and was involved with Meals on Wheels. He was also a home gardener, local history buff, wood worker, and was always busy, but never too busy to lend a hand.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Sadie (nee Walter); sons, Norman (Nancy) of East Liverpool, Stephen (Mary) of Missouri City, Texas; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Leida Alexie of Kent. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Coe and Steve Vandersteen.

Esther V. Crites, 80, of Akron, died March 2, 1998.
A life resident of the area, she retired from the Akron Porcelain Co. after many years of service. She was a member of Queen Esther Lodge 463 Pythian Sisters and the Channelwood Senior Citizens, and attended the First Church of God in Tallmadge.
She is survived by her sister, Eva Gillenwater of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

Gerald N. ``Jerry'' Cross, 56, of Uniontown, died Monday morning at his home, following an extended illness.
He worked 36 years for Ohio Edison as operations supervisor of the Northern Region Line department. He was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rita of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Molly of Dayton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Janice of Hartville, and Donald and Barbara of Orrville; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol (Cross) Kesling.

CABOT, Ark. -- George K. Crump, 42, died Feb. 23, 1998, in North Little Rock, Ark.
Mr. Crump was a resident of Stow until June 1997, and was vice president of business processes for Altell Communications.
Surviving are his wife, Vicki; their daughters, Kinley and Haley; and their son, Colton.

Frances L. Cutlip
Frances L. Cutlip died Friday, March 6 in Wadsworth.
Born Nov. 11, 1919, in Canton, a daughter of Ralph and Regina Rutter, she was the wife of the late Lewis Clark Cutlip, whom she married Dec. 28, 1965. Surviving are aunts, Bernice Lee of Wadsworth and Helen Conley of Mogadore, and numerous cousins.

Theda Fay Cutright
Theda Fay Cutright, 66, of Wadsworth, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at the Barberton Citizens Hospital.
She was born December 26, 1931 in Lewis County, W. Va., to Nathan G. and Sarah F. (West) Sprouse. She married Robert L. Cutright on September 5, 1950. She had worked as a nursing assistant for 24 years, retiring in September, 1996. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert, in 1980; a brother; and two sisters. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Deborah Cutright of Cocoa, Fla.; sons Mourice Cutright of Rittman and David Cutright of Wadsworth; daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Theda) Gibson, Mrs. Boyd (Geraldine) Lucas, and Mrs. John (Sarah) Tomor, all of Wadsworth; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Zelma Sprouse of Wadsworth, and Oran and Wilma Sprouse of Weston, W.
