Susan E. Rector
Susan E. Rector died Feb. 12, 1998. She was born in Nashville, Tenn., and came to Akron as a young adult. Susie spent 40 years in the retail business, at the May Co. and Dillards as a buyer in many departments, the last job as buyer of designer sportswear at Higbees (Dillards). She traveled extensively to all the fashion capitals of the world, including Europe and the Far East. She was a friend of the late Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman, and was a great supporter of the Kent State School of Fashion. From its inception, she helped raise funds as well as serving on their advisory board. An avid golfer for many years, she belonged to Silver Lake Country Club. Preceded in death by her parents, Laura and John Wilson; sisters, Mrs. Edgar Sisco and Mrs. Glenn Craig-head; and brother, Joseph Wilson, she is survived by husband, James B. Rector; special friends, Mary Beth and Peter Buonaiuto and their children, Ashley, Lauren, and Peter Michael, of Columbus; and is also survived by nieces, Mrs. James Harold Stafford of Cooksville, Tenn., Mrs. Napier Burson III and Mrs. Rex Barber of Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Richard Walder of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Mrs. Rick Phillippe of Toledo, Ill. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7, 1998, at 12:30 p.m., at the Church in the Valley, in Peninsula, with the Rev. John Fisk officiating. George C. Reid
George C. Reid, 77, passed away Saturday, March 14, 1998, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Akron, Ohio, on June 29, 1920, to Susan and Robert Reid. He was a graduate of Kenmore High School, and a retiree of Pan American Airways of Miami, Fla. Preceded in death by his sisters, Sarah M. Long, and Genevieve Seifried, he is survived by his loving wife, Cleora K. (Meekins) Reid; children, Danny (Alice) Reid of DeLand, Fla. and Kathleen (Michael) Gay of Cherryfield, Maine; brother, Robert (Lee) Reid of Kansas City, Mo.; grandsons, Robert S. Reid of DeLand, Fla., David E. Baker of Ellsworth, Maine, Bruce R. Baker of Union City, Calif., and Glenn S. Reid of Baltimore, Md.; and seven great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and special friends, Sally and Quinten Blake of Akron, and many dear friends in New Zealand. Following the requests of Mr. Reid, there will be no visitation or services. Barbara Jean Richard
Barbara Jean Richard, 69, passed away March 26, 1998, after a lengthy illness She was born in Flint, Mich., and lived in the Akron/Medina areas since 1941. Mrs. Richard was a homemaker who enjoyed music, playing the piano, and loved her dog. She is survived by husband T. Charles, they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in July; sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Marian of Tallmadge, Arthur and Christel of North Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Esther and Jeff Chandler of Akron; granddaughter, Katie; niece, Nancy Clapham of Michigan; and her beloved Keeshond, `Woolfy`. Barbara's family would like to thank the staff at Altercare of Hartville and Wyant Woods Care Center for all their loving care. Donna Jean Richards ``Little Donna'' went home with Jesus on March 1, 1998. She was preceded in death by mother, Juanita Christiansen. Survivors include her beloved dog, Tuesday; friends, Judy Henaghan, Deda Kerns, Rev. Donna Elliott, Rev. Joyce Speegle, and many lifelong friends. A memorial service will be at 12 noon Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Lake Anna in Barberton.

Ruth L. Richardson
Ruth L. Richadson, age 80, of Lodi, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 15, 1998 at Lodi Community Hospital. She was born in Akron, Ohio, May 12, 1917 to Alex and Louise Dye Greenhorn and had resided the past 12 years in Lodi. Mrs. Richardson was a former bookkeeper for Permold in Medina and later worked at The Mens Shop in Elyria. Surviving are husband, Walter, to whom she was married for 60 years; sons, Edward (wife, Barbara) Richardson of Lodi, Dennis (wife, Barbara) Richardson of Anniston, Ala.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Emliss Ricks, Sr.
Emliss Ricks, Sr., 89, of Akron, died March 4, 1998. Born in Donaldson Creek, Ky., he was a 40 year resident of Akron, employed in maintenance with Ohio Edison for 26 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Rees Ricks; his sons, Emliss, Jr., Douglas, Kevin and Barry; stepdaughter, Shirley Ann Gadd; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Frieda Mouw Robertson (nee Zahler)
Frieda Mouw Robertson (nee Zahler) of Lincoln, Neb., passed away recently. Born in Bern, Switzerland, she came to the United State in 1927. Frieda was a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star 265 in Edgerton, and a member of Capital Chapter 320 in Lincoln, Neb. She moved to Lincoln in 1957 and was a Lincoln Technical College instructor for 15 years, and held knitting and crocheting classes in her home until recently. A member of the College View Seventh Day Adventist Church, she taught in the children's divisions for many years. A dedicated homemaker, devoted mother, adoring grandmother, consecrated Christian, talented teacher, loyal friend, esteemed by her children, grandchildren and many friends, Frieda was preceded in death by her first husband, J. E. B. Mouw; second husband, C. E. Robertson, father, mother, four sisters, four brothers; son-in-law, Cliff Newkirk; grandson, Scott Newkirk, and is survived by daughters, Joan Griffin of Bruce, S. D., Jean Arios of Miami Springs, Fla., Jacqueline Newkirk of Lincoln, Neb.; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Clara Hartzell of Deerfield, Ohio, Emma of Akron, Margrit of Tiffin, Ohio, Johannah of Florida, and Paula of Akron.

Ronald A. Robinson, 57, passed away March 2, 1998, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was a member of Ellet Community Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, and is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; daughters, Terry (Jessy) Wheeler, Donna, and Jeannie; sisters, Katherine, Barbara, Sally, and Loretta; brother, Raymond Jr.; three grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. Kathleen A. Rooney, 39, passed away Saturday, March 14, 1998. She was born January 25, 1959, in Akron, Ohio. Helen C. Rose (nee Taylor), 80, was the beloved wife of the late John V. Sr.; loving mother of Sandra Joan Moseley (Jimmy) of Norman, Okla., Barbara Rose, John V. (Stacy), and Ann Rose Kijinski (Peter); devoted grandmother of Elizabeth Guse (Matthew), Jennifer Matter (Chad), Tim, Kevin, Lauren Weber, Peter and Leslie Kijinski, Caragh and Rachael Rose, John, Taylor, and Michael Rose. Kenneth Philip Ross
Kenneth Philip Ross, 44, of Haywood, W. Va., died Saturday, March 14, 1998. He was born October 23, 1953 in Akron, a son of Paul Nutter Ross and Edith Sirk Ross of Wildwood, Florida. Mr. Ross was a 1972 graduate of Ellet High School in Akron, and had attended the University of Akron. He was a 16-year employee of the James and Law Company and was currently working in the textbook depository division. He was also employed by Winans Services for ten years, serving at the Union Carbide and Prebina locations. Kenneth was a Protestant by faith. In addition to his parents, he is survived by longtime friend, Arless ``Butch'' Heflin, with whom he made his home in Haywood; son, Andrew Paul Ross of Tallmadge, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Paul C. and Becky Ross; nephew, Paul Lewis Ross; niece, Amanda Michelle Ross, all of Tallmadge; his maternal grandmother, Blanch Wood Sirk of Bridgeport, W. Va.; and several aunts and uncles. James E. Rosser, 53, passed away February 22, 1998, at Akron City Hospital after a short illness. Born in Newnan, Ga., he had lived in this community 50 years. He had been employed as a machine operator at Malco Products, retiring in 1994, and was a member of True Light Baptist Church. He is survived by wife, Jessica Rosser; sons, James D. Rosser and Jeffrey Allen Rosser; granddaughter, LaTonya; father, James Rayfield Rosser; sisters, Mary A. Suttles, Denise Crawford, and Bernadette Rosser; brother, Melvin Rosser; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
