FLORIDA -- Nancy A. Hamilton, 83, of Bradenton, died March 22, 1998.
Born in Cottonwood, S. D., she moved to Florida in 1974 from Akron. She retired as a secretary for the U. S. government, and was a member of Westside Christian Church.
Survivors include daughters, Mary E. Fugate of Bradenton, Kitty Tyrrell of Bradenton, Pat Etling of Akron, and Sally Jordan of Barberton; son, Matthew ``Jim'' Hamilton of Deltona, Fla.; sisters, Grace Kovac of Barberton, Rosemary Hickman of Salem, Ohio, and Peggy Uhl of Akron; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

James Lawrence Hammett ``Pete''
James Lawrence Hammett ``Pete,'' 64, was called home to be with the Lord on March 22, 1998, after a long illness.
He was born in Akron on Oct. 22, 1933. He was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 25 years, last working in 1989, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his brother, John (Juanita) Hammett, James leaves behind his devoted wife, Mary; his daughters, Nicole (Anthony) Elton, Gwendolyn Hammett of Dallas, Texas, Brenda (Frank) Marina, Michelle (William) Ross, Joann (David) Hammett-Lowe, and Harriett (George) Tompkins; sisters, Julia Wert of Cleveland, Louise Mosley, Annette Rumph, Margaret (James) Cornelius, and Marie (Judge) Gulley; brothers, Edward (Clara) Hammett of Mount Vernon, N. Y., and George Hammett. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends.

Zbigniew R. (Ben) Hardt, 77, of Akron, died March 29, 1998, at Akron General Medical Center.
Born in Lvov, Poland, Ben was a resident of the Akron area since 1952. He retired as a research chemist from B. F. Goodrich in 1983 after 27 years service. Ben was a member of St. Sebastian Church, the B. F. Goodrich Retirees, and active in the Parkinsons Support Group and the Stan Hywet Foundation. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Polish Unit of the R.A.F.
He is survived by wife, Elizabeth; children and spouses, Christopher J. Hardt of Akron, Mary Alice and James Brosseau of Tulsa, Okla., Ann Therese and Chester Williams of Lexington, Mass., Patricia M. and Robert Donaldson of Congers, N. Y., Margaret M. and Mark Frondorf of Arlington, Va., Karen M. Hardt of Akron, and Mark J. Hardt of Long Beach, Calif.; brother, Janusz Hardt of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; sister, Theresa Stoszowski of Krakow, Poland; seven grandchildren.

Louise G. Harper, 83, passed away March 26, 1998, after a long illness.
Born in Marietta, Ohio, Mrs. Harper lived in Caldwell before moving to Ellet in 1952; the past 2 1/2 years she resided at Alter Care of Hartville. Mrs. Harper was a homemaker and a member of North Springfield Presbyterian Church.
Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth P., in January 1967, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Vonda and Leon Waters of Akron; grandchildren, Jill (Ralph) Dowling of Akron, Karen (Duane) Dawson of Kent, Lisa Waters, Kenneth (Wendy) Waters, all of Akron; great-grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, Allison, Alan, and Gwen.

BARBERTON -- Lois ``Dotty'' Hathaway, 76, a 55 year resident of Barberton, joined her husband, Shorty in the heavenly garden on March 20, 1998.
Dotty is survived by her loving family; Donna (Dink) Davis, of Norton, Ron Hathaway of Phoenix, Ariz., Sherry (Jim) Lewis of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Kevin (Monica) Davis, Eric (Chris) Davis, Audra Arnold, Steve (Cindi) Kovacs, Tammy Hathaway, Ron (Liz) Hathaway, Kathy Hathaway and Bobby Hathaway; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Abbey, Mandy, Sean, Koya, Ron Jr., Sara; also survived by sisters, Cleona Liston and Ginny Collier of Chesapeake, Ohio.
She dedicated her life to her family, home and God. Her greatest joys were her garden and poetry. She will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched.

Nellie M. Hay, 85, formerly of Akron, died Sunday, March 22, 1998 at the Country Club Retirement Center in Bellaire.
She was born on April 1, 1912, in Gilmer County, W. Va, the daughter of the late James and Ella Maude Harris Rowan. Nellie was a retired employee of O'Neils Department Store, Akron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Hay; a son, Eugene Lee Hay; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Marie Hay and four brothers. She is survived by two sisters, Eva R. Plants of Alexandria, Va. and Wilma L. Sheehan of Youngstown; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rev. George Webster Herman Sr.
Rev. George Webster Herman Sr., 92, passed away Friday, March 6, 1998.
He was born March 28, 1905 in Akron the son of Theadore and Sophia (Minor) Herman. Rev. Herman was retired minister of the Congregation Church and had been the Chaplain for Summit County Childrens Home for 20 years.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine and his second wife, Cleda. He is survived by his daughter, Lee Reynolds of Barberton, son and daughter-in-law, George Webster Jr. and Sylvia Herman of Medina; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 1998 at the East Market Street Christian Church, 864 E. Market St. where family and friends will gather for a brunch after the service. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- John A. ``Jack'' Hogan, 78, of Indianapolis, died March 26, 1998, at his residence.
He was a special-accounts manager for Diebold, Inc. for 45 years, retiring in 1985. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Riviera Club, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 13, Moose Lodge 0179, and American Legion Post 0777.

Julia A. (Larocco) Huff, 84, died Friday, March 27, 1998 at Akron City Hospital.
She was born on October 23, 1913 in Campbell, Ohio and was a schoolteacher in Campbell and Greensburg for 38 years retiring in 1978. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Retired Teachers Association. James W. Hurr
James W. Hurr, born Jan. 11, 1921, passed away March 20, 1998, after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.
Jim was a four-year veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. He worked 37 1/2 years at General Tire, retiring in 1977. Jim enjoyed teaching and watching his sons and grandchildren play sports, and was an avid bowler who bowled a 300 game in March 1965. He had attended North Springfield Presbyterian Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Myrtle; and brothers, Melvin and Herbert (Mutt) Hurr, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen (McCord); sons, Don (Doris), Bob, and Jim (Michelle); grandchildren, Eileen, Shawn, Troy, and Kisha; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ashley, Matthew, Michael, and Parker; sisters, Marjorie Leib and Myrtle Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.

Walter E. Hollis, 71, went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 1998, at Barberton Citizens Hospital.
Born in Sylvester, Ga., he had lived as a beloved member of the Barberton community for most of his life. He was retired from the City of Barberton, and was a member of AFSCME Local 265, the South Barberton Men's Club, and the Sportsman Club.
He was preceded in death by brother, Albert Hollis; and sister, Marietta Drake, and is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor; sons, Timothy Petterson of Akron, Steve Hollis of Akron, and Brian Hollis of Philadelphia, Pa.; daughters, Marietta March of Akron and Lelisa Hollis of Barberton; brother, Willie C. (Maggie) Crawford of Sylvester, Ga.; sister, Frankie Buckner of Akron; beloved aunt, Gladys Hopkins; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hollis; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Joseph F. Horsfall, 82, of Northfield, was the beloved husband of M. Alice (nee Mock); beloved father of Cheryl (Ron) Adams, Joseph Jr. (Beverly), Thomas (Cindy), and Richard (Bonnie); loving grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of one; dear brother of Sam and Hilda Horsfall and the late William, George, Maurice and James Horsfall.
Joseph served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
